I agree. This feature is a real core feature of the mail client and 
therefore we can add it. The plugin-API will help us the kick out all the 
feature requests that require special functionality for certain environments.

However I don't like the submitted patch of ticket #1483863 because IMHO 
this should be done server-side. We know when the user logs out and then 
it's only two lines of code to check the user prefs and empty the Trash.
