RoundCube and Exim4 on Debian Sarge

 	Are you intentionally delaying the greeting in order to stop 
spammers?  If so, how many seconds are you delaying?  I see these sorts of 
errors from spammers all the time.
 	Try turning debugging on, as it should print out stuff from the 
smtp connection.
