Release 0.8 (stable) with new skin is out

Hello folks, We're proud to finally announce the release of version 0.8 with the brand new skin, codename "Larry", becoming the new default UI for Roundcube. After two preview releases and a lot of fine-tuning, the new design by http://bueroflint.com has now grown up. But to all the nostalgics out there: don't worry! The old skin still remains part of the package and will be maintained for at least one more major release. Beside the new UI, this version also contains more bugfixes and mprovements (see ) as well as some code refactorings. Another major change since the last stable release is the updated license which is now GPL v3+ with exceptions for skin & plugins. Read more about that on http://roundcube.net/license After lots of testing and collecting your feedback, this version is considered stable and we recommend to update all productive installations of Roundcube. Get the new version from http://roundcube.net/download Finally, some important notes for sysadmins to deploy the new Roundcube: * The new skin brings an entirely new look to the webmail application. Please carefully plan a roll-out of the new version and prepare your users accordingly. * We're getting a lot of support requests from users who are under the impression that Roundcube is a public service such as Gmail or Hotmail. Unfortunately we cannot help these people and thus we'd like to encourage everybody to do some branding on your Roundcube installation. You can replace the logo by config (option 'skin_logo') and even more important: the new release now has an option named 'support_url' where everyone should fill in an URL to instructions how to get help for that specific installation of Roundcube. And last but not least: our recent partnership with the Kolab Groupware project is finally showing some results. The Kolab team just published a preview release of their all-new Kolab 3.0 groupware suite including Roundcube as the new web client. Enriched with nice new plugins, Roundcube gives easy access to all relevant groupware functions. keep-alive changes

Digging into session issues I've found this keep-alive thing a little bit overcomplicated and unclear. The keep-alive setting handles two things: session keeping and new-mail checking. Some plugins also bind to keep-alive to do some recurring actions (e.g. to display calendar alarms, etc.). I think we should split these functionalities. So keep-alive action should be used only for session keeping. In such case we need to execute keep-alive action only after some inactivity time (e.g. session_lifetime - 1min [or 5%]). It means timer should be resetted on every reequest. Also it means we don't need a separate config option, because the interval would be calculated from session_lifetime. For session_lifetime=0 there would be no keep-alive requests. Another thing is recurring check for new-mail. This would work as is, but... see below. Last but not least. We should provide some "global" recurring action which would work across all tasks so, plugins could bind to it. One "global" action to minimize session race-conditions when few plugins will create their own recurring requests on the same time. In mail task we could "bind" our check-recent action to this global action. In my opinion this would be a much clearer solution and would give as some additional possibilities: - possibility to disable recurring checks (for new mail etc.) at all, - better overall performance because keep-alive out of mail task will be executed less frequently I think also, we could rename keep_alive option description ("Check for new messages on") into something like "Update system state (check for new mail, etc.) on", and move it to User Interface section, so we could use it as our global action interval. ps. I'm not sure we should change draft auto-save interval in any way to fit into this. PDO-based DB layer

I've finished the new DB layer for Roundcube based on PHP PDO. It uses less memory (1.2 MB less) and should be faster than our old solution. The main differences: uses PDO modules, no prepared statements. Github x Launchpad

Hello Thomas, There are plans to synchronize the RC translations between Github and Launchpad? Currently we already have problems with this, there are strings that were created or modified directly on Github and are not available in Lauchpad, like $labels['forwardmode'] (0.8) or $labels['undeleted'] (0.9-git). Strange behavior

Hi I updated my RC instance and I got a look in the /logs directory. I enabled the log to see what happens behind the scenes and I found some curious errors. Enigma plugin: Parse bodystructure

After PGP decrypting there will be only string with boundaries and mime parts (like plain Maildir format email, but without headers). Has RC any function (or class) to parse string into BODYSTRUCTURE? If it relies on IMAP server message parser, how to inject message back to the IMAP server parser? thx A.

Hard-coded references to larry

Hi, For various reasons (mostly having to do with not wanting to ask one user in particular to "try out larry"...) I renamed the larry theme on my installation to "default". This worked fine in 0.8.0, but breaks pretty hard in 0.8.1 -- any users using "default" get a "service not available! errno 501" error page when trying to log in. The error wasn't showing up in any of RC's various logs, even with all the knobs turned up. A quick grep found rcube_template to be the most likely cause; on a whim I decided to grep the installation for "larry" and found a half-dozen or so references there. Changing them all to "default" made everything happy again. Is it possible to not hard-code the name of a theme, and instead grab it from the config file? Hi! I'm a PHP developer (but new in RoundCube dev world) and interested on GnuPG mail encryption. I've read Alec mail on "Enigma plugin" (*Mon Aug 30 11:21:48 CEST 2010*) and seen source code. (Importing GPG key works but email encryption not.) In this phase I would like to know: - Is it possible to handle body encryption with "message_outgoing_body" plugin hook? I mean: can I modify MIME type or completely re-build the mail structure to fit RFC1847 with this hook? - Has enigma development roadmap? (How and when implementing features) I'm continuously reading RC base documentation to know all about classes and inner processes. Thanks

automatic_addressbook : translations needed

Hi all, As Jocelyn Delalande, original author of the automatic_addressbook plugin doesn't have time to update this plugin, I'm taking the maintenance of this plugin. I'm about to release a new version of the automatic_addressbook plugin which will hopefully address all previously reported bugs and feature requests. I've published a first release candidate (0.3rc1) on the plugin project page : http://code.crapouillou.net/projects/roundcube-plugins But this release candidate lacks of lots of translations. I've written the en_US, en_EN and fr_FR files, but other languages remains to be updated. If you have a couple of minutes and know other languages, feel free to send me translation patches or other language's files. Translations for the automatic_addressbook plugin have also been pushed in landscape as advised in the plugin doc. The merge is waiting for review. After review, you can also contribute via landscape if you prefer. And as usual, you can always utilise the bug tracker at http://code.crapouillou.net/projects/roundcube-plugins [1] if you find bugs in the upcoming release. There is some minor problems left that are beyond the scope of this mail. I'll come back to you about that in a next mail. Larry IE Contacts trouble

Hello devs, Search the trac for opened bugs and can't find this one. So, the problem you can see on screenshot. This is default installation without plugins. IE versions 8 and 9 - both looks the same. This is russian windows XP and Win7. Can you take a look at this ? What can cause this and how can I fix such view? Thanks

Therefore we just published an update release adding bug fixes, some minor feature improvements and, most important, two fixes for a recently reported XSS vulnerability in Roundcube's HTML message handling. At the same same time, we also pushed out a small update for the 0.7 series with some of the important fixes back-ported. Task classes

Hi! I'm not an OOP fan-boy. However, sometimes we need to share some code between tasks. It will be possible if we rewrite at least func.inc files into classes. Other task-action files could be also classes inheriting from the task class. Execution code could be placed in <task_class>::run() method which would be extended by child (action) classes. Problemas com Caixa Muito Cheia

Bom dia, sou novo na lista, e estou a procura de auxílio para um problema. Tenho um servidor de emails configurado com Qmail e utilizo o Roundcube como interface web. Acontece q eu tenho uma conta de emails que estava com mais de 60 mil emails e quando carregava a caixa, elas não eram completamente carregadas, sem falar na demora. Para tentar contornar o problema, criei uma pasta direto na Maildir do Linux, dando as permissões e propriedades corretas para a pasta, e movi todas as mensagens com data de 2011 para essa pasta! Meu problema está que ao acessar a pasta, nenhuma mensagem é mostrada, e a caixa de entrada não exibe mais nenhuma mensagem, porém no rodapé da página eu tenho a informação de que existem atualmente 31566 mensagens na caixa de entrada e a pasta que criei diz simplesmente que não existem mensagens lá! Alguem já teve algum problema parecido??? Aguardo At, Cleiton Cipriani

If i return an array (return $args), the function doesn't even execute. If i return array of folders (return $args['folders']) the function executes but RC lists all folders instead of returned ones. Can't figure out why in first case the function doesn't execute (it worked fine in 0.7.2).

Hook name change and plugin problem 0.8

I have a question about hooks in rc 0.8. We have a plugin depending on mailboxes_list hook which is now named storage_folders. Plugins modifies the list of avalible folders, so users cannot subscribe to some. When function returns an array of folders, RC does't accept that array and lists either all of the folders or just the inbox folder. The returned array is exactly the same as in version 0.7.2 but RC0.8 refuses to use it. Any suggestions?

0.8.0 doesn't select next message after deletion anymore

neither larry nor classic skins. neither in preview pane, nor when having double clicked a message. (here it used to show next message, now it seems to go back to message list view, with none selected.) firefox 14 (linux) and safari 5 (mac) this makes deleting a bunch of messages very cumbersome, but i feel like i'm going crazy because i don't think it was acting this way yesterday -- certainly the rc was behaving better. anybody else notice this? 0.8 Larry trouble

Hey guys, I suck, I didn't participate in the beta -- bad timing, too much going on at the time. Just updated to 0.8, and Larry's not looking so good here: http://imgur.com/hKwS7 The font is way oversized in the message list area and in the headers display area; the message headers seem to be showing up in triplicate for some reason; auto-completion isn't working in the to: field when composing a message; the "cancel" button is grayed out (and not clickable) when composing a message. There might be more, but that was what I found after a few minutes. Everything works OK for the classic skin. Since this isn't looking anything like the screenshot on the roundcube.net home page, I'm betting there's something broken on my server. Not sure what though ... I'm not seeing any 404s or other errors in the network console, nothing in the application or httpd error logs, and no Javascript console error messages. The layout looks identical to the screenshot above in Linux/Chromium 18, Linux/Firefox 9, and Windows XP/Firefox 14, so far. Any hints on what might be wrong?
