It says this: RoundCube Webmail is written in PHP and requires the MySQL database. However other database servers can be used. I just installed mysql for no reason on a server when I could of used the existing PostgreSQL ! :( Chris

Request For This Mailing List In Particular (And, Not The RoundCube Application Itself)

I get tons of e-mails daily, across multiple addresses I frequently monitor throughout any given day. I currently have my e-mail client program set-up to only have a "list" view of the subject line of all incoming mail, grouping all e-mail addresses (i.e., utilizing Apple's Mail software). And, I'm assuming that many of the subscribers on this mailing list also do the same thing. Since I am often bombarded with unwanted spam, the majority of the time, I only quickly read the "subject line" of an e-mail, and delete questionable incoming mail, without wasting time to actual read every single e-mail to determine if it is desired content to read, or not. So, as a request for this e-mail list, can the list admin re- configure the list settings, so that all messages sent automatically prepend in the subject line the tag: [RoundCube Dev]. That way, incoming mail can be easily identified as not spam, and should be read accordingly. If the list settings do not feature an auto-prepend for the subject line, then this request is widely directed to all subscribers of this list, asking that when composing new e-mails, please be more conscious about the content of the subject line, and to write text that at least can give some indication that the e-mail pertains to RoundCube. Example: A bad subject line would just have: Subject: RC1 Whereas, a better subject line would have: Subject: RoundCube RC1 Oftentimes, messages are being sent through this list, where the subject line does not clearly give indication that it is referring to RoundCube. And, i wouldn't want to accidently delete a potentially vital incoming e-mail from this list, thinking it was spam. Just upgraded (from the 0.1alpha) to the trunk version -- ok, it's been a while since I've had any time. Found the following bug, trying to add a second address to my address book, the address book contains an entry of: yyykoblas(a)example.com trying to add koblas(a)example.com Yeilds a 'contactexists' error, digging into it the problem it looks like: in steps/mail/addcontact.inc $existing = $CONTACTS->search('email', $contact['email'], false); does in include/rcube_contacts.inc $add_where[] = $this->db->quoteIdentifier($col)." LIKE ".$this->db->quote(strlen($value)>2 ? "%$value%" : "$ Of course koblas(a)example.com is a substring (but different address) of yyykoblas(a)extra.com. Not to mention that in this instance a case-insenstive search might be in order. I think it might be worthwhile to have a specific search for email address in the contacts -- possibly with a normalized column in the DB that facilitates it . --koblas

IMAP Subscribe

Hi list, I implemented a new config setting (0, 1) on devel-vnext today, where the administrator of the RC install can select if always all mail folders should be displayed despite of SUBSCRIBE (2) status. The background is that we have a lot of users who use Apple Mail (exceptional many) and apparently Apple Mail does not know about SUBSCRIBE at all. So I implemented this switch since I "guess" users don't know what that is for anyway. Disclaimer: It's a "convenience feature" and not so good for performance. ;-) As in 1 - the diff is not so readable because I changed a lot of CS on rcube_imap.inc - but anyway, skip to the "green" portion in trac and go to 421-434 to see my changes. Feedback is very appreciated. If anyone needs help porting this to trunk, please let me know. Weird Hanging problems (latest SVN)

I've been having a weird issue with the SVN roundcube for a while. Sometimes a user logs in and then page just hangs. Can't click on anything: messages, folders, buttons, whatever. When this happens it is repeatable across different browsers and computers. It sometimes it seems to stop at a certain point (X number of messages down, cut off halfway across the page) and sometimes the page looks exactly right, but you can't do anything. Fixes have been largely inconsistent and range from changing the page size for the user (in the db since we can't do anything in browser) or moving mail out of their imap folder on the server, then moving it back. This has been very rare, probably rarer than 1 user in 20, but when it tends to happen to the same users again and again. Sometimes it'll go away after a day or so, then come back. I've tried copying user settings from working accounts and also tried comparing messages in affected accounts to find a pattern. So far, no dice. Chasd: I understand that line of thinking, but I wasn't saying that the command-line database is how it would be administered. I would suggest obviously a GUI interface with Roundcube (much like most forum software has). You can choose your method of editing, GUI or CLI. I was thinking that if we're going to be using a registry, why not switch the config file from being this PHP file, to a standard .ini file. Name it rcConfig.ini and then use PHPs ini parsing function (http://php.net/parse_ini_file) to get an array of options. Mark as read and unread feature

Hello, I'm using Roundcube for more than one year, and I really enjoy using it. I recently added some features to my installation, so I made a patch. Maybe you could be interested in it. The patch answers to the #1457360 ticket [1]. Actually I posted some code in this ticket, but I think it is more comfortable for you in a patch, got from the last svn revision. I'm not an artist and I don't know how to make transparency with the gimp, so only "act" pictures are made, not "pas" and "sel". registry idea

Hi, we've been toying with the idea to implement a registry to combat the "global" in RC. Here is the first draft/idea: http://trac.roundcube.net/trac.cgi/browser/branches/devel-vnext/program/inc… For right now the class is a bunch of static sets and gets to store and retrieve variables - optionally a namespace ($ns). In the first step it would be an "expensive" wrapper (Singleton) around $GLOBALS, until the entire code has been ported to use it. Further down the road, I think we should switch it to use sessions and then implement backends (e.g. database) to allow plugins to store their data or for example to make data persistent across logins, etc.. bugs in rc1

Hi, been playing with rc1 for about a week now, I noticed to bugs: 1) When I select a message in message view, and click reply/reply all, the subject and recipients are lost when the compose screen loaded. Message is there, also quoted etc.. 2) I don't seem to be able to send messages. 3) Randomly, my session is terminated (I get a login screen) and can not re-login until I close my browser and retry. I am investigating all issues, especially 2 - so if anyone is working on this as well, or maybe I seem to be the only one having those problems - please let me know. I am running my install with debug_level 8 and error_reporting(E_ALL) - which I hope catches everything. Just btw - so it doesn't look like I am ranting, cause I am not - outstanding work on the entire skinning feature of RC. It's really easy to customize the look. :) Cheers, Till

Thi is probably my MTA (qmail) but not sure. Composed mails sent are being given two line breaks for a line break it seams (or wrong separator being used?). Eg this: It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum' will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like). Shows as: It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. Email accounts' password

Hello guys, first of all, congrats for RoundCube. Very nice Webmail. Now my question: that may seem stupid at first but that's a real question ;-) Something's missing according to me: users can't change their email accounts' passwords. For my email server configuration, and because that's my server, I just need to run one SQL query to change the password (I'm talking about the IMAP or POP account, not the RoundCube profile account). That'd be nice to have a section in the configuration file that tells to RoundCube how to update the password if applicable (SQL query / executable). Something like: $rcmail_config['update_password'] = "UPDATE database.table SET password = sha1('__password__') WHERE email = '__email__'"; If this section is set, well, RoundCube would display a "change password" field in the "my profile" page. But that'd be worth it if and only if other users agree with that idea. What do you think? Thanks, Axel

Automatic Domain Addition

Please note that this message is in reference to bug #1484413 (http://trac.roundcube.net/trac.cgi/ticket/1484413). I've submitted a patch for the username_domain auto appending feature. In some instances, specifically multiple server environments, it's not proper to append an "@" to the username. My patch fixes that. ~Brett

RoundCube Translator

After getting several requests to publish the translator scripts, I now packed them and made it available for download at http://translator.roundcube.net/rc_translator-0.1.tar.gz But don't expect too much. It's just an ugly piece of PHP code mashed up with HTML which I coded once an evening. It is based on the initial work of Yllar Pajus. The translator retrieves the localization files from the SVN repository and caches them locally for about 10 minutes. In order to work correctly, the local folder named 'localization' has to be writable for the webserver. Have fun! ~Thomas

Uncorrect reading of IMAP root folder

Hi everyone, I'm experiencing some problems when reading the Folders list in "Personal Settings" -> "Folders". I have installed three versions of RoundCube right now: - RC1 - SVN (584) - nightly-svn (from sourceforge) The problem is with this option: // only list folders within this path $rcmail_config['imap_root'] = ''; If the variable is left blank: $rcmail_config['imap_root'] = ''; the folders list under "Personal Settings" shows the complete list of everything under /home/user-logged-in/ for all the three versions (RC1, SVN, nightly). If the variable is set to anything but blank: $rcmail_config['imap_root'] = 'mail'; the folders list under "Personal Settings" shows: nightly: the content of /home/user-logged-in/mail/. OK RC1 and SVN: the whole content of /home/user-logged-in/ *BUT* without the *5* first letters of the file/folder. Example: file /home/user-logged-in/public_html/index.html file should not be visible, but is showed as c_html/index.html . I've also seen that in general, putting anything for the $rcmail_config['imap_root'] of N letters, makes the folder show everything in the user's home, without the first N letters. I posted a ticket <http://trac.roundcube.net/trac.cgi/ticket/1484379> but it was marked as invalid, because the error was in my IMAP server. Anyway, why does this feature work with the same server in nightly-svn build from sourceforge and not with RC1 or latest SVN? Thanks for your help
