Hello, i found 2 "problems" on the template: first in main.inc.php i have this variables $rcmail_config['skin_path'] = ''; and $rcmail_config['product_name'] = ''; why didn't we use this at the templates?? for example in /templates/login.html the information is "Hardcoded" <img src="skins/default/images/roundcube_logo.png" id="rcmbtn104" width="165" height="55" border="0" alt="RoundCube Webmail" hspace="10" /> or in /includes/header.html <roundcube:button command="mail" image="/images/roundcube_logo.png" alt="RoundCube Webmail" width="165" height="55" /> i think id would be better when we could use the variables?!! HTML Email bugs in latest beta (stable)

Hey all, We just upgraded and we send html invoices out. The invoice template for these have not been adjusted but now looks like roundcube is not rendering the html properly anymore. Getting things right in the message like: __removed=red> and *__removed=https: Any ideas? *

Edit Identities During First Login (#1291605)

I posted this in the forums, and didn't get much of a response, so I thought I'd try my luck here. Some time ago, the ability for new users to be presented with the "Edit Identity" screen after their first login was requested. (Ticket #1291605, http://trac.roundcube.net/trac.cgi/ticket/1291605 ) Attached is a patch that should add this feature in. This was patched against SVN rev 459, but it may work on older revisions. I'm sure there is room for improvement. NB: This feature is controlled by an additional setting in config/main.inc.php : $rcmail_config['new_user_edit_identity'] = TRUE; I suppose you could display a "welcome" message on the edit identities screen if they are a new user also, but that would require additional localization / translation, among other changes. Jim P.S. RE: Developer Guidelines, should boolean variables be in all caps (TRUE/FALSE) or lower case (true/false)? It seems to goes back and forth a lot in the code, so I wasn't sure. But it's trivial the change you want to do. Plus, on top of that, the themes are strict HTML. So there should be no PHP code inside of it. If you look at every theme, it uses Roundcube's Theme Engine (brilliant I might add) to properly parse messages, folders, actions and such. No PHP code is to be contained in the themes. What you're suggesting is the complete opposite of abstraction. You want to put PHP code directly into the theme which. The whole point of the template parser is to get the PHP out of the theme so that non-PHP web designers can create a slick GUI for Roundcube. So that being said, I understand what you're saying, but it goes against the whole point of abstraction and the MVC. I still am totally against making the change(s) you suggest about this. ~Brett

Problem with encoding when iso-8859-1 foreign characters are found in the From header

One of the users of roundcube on my server recieved an email where the name in the From header contained foreign characters. When she replied to this email, qmail gave an instant bounce message: <?=(a)oak.webhost999.com>: Sorry, no mailbox here by that name. (#5.1.1) I looked at the source for the email she replied to, and the From header looked like this (the email address has been changed and antispamed): From: =?iso-8859-1?q?Elo=EDsa=20Alvarado?= <test at yahoo dot com> I hit reply and changed the email within the < and the > to my email address to see what would happen. I recieved the reply, but I also got the same bounce message. When I looked at the source for the message I sent in my sent mail folder, the To header looked like this: To: =?UTF-8?Q?Elo=C3=83=C2=ADsa=20Alvarado=20<test at yahoo dot com>?= I have read of people reporting bug with roundcubes encoding, but I haven't heard of a fix, is one underway? messagelist reload upon new email arrival

Dear all I have been wondering for a while about the fact that when a new email arrives the folder name and title name are correctly updated to show this new arrival. However the appropriate message list isn't updated, which seemed odd to me. Is this a bug or a feature?? After having spend some time inside the cod, i am now hopelessly stuck. I either end up in an eternal loop or need to code a new function (js/php) to instigate a message list reload without a this.set_unread_count(). Does anyone have an idea about this? with regards Bram Vogelaar

Config file format

First and for most, thank you for saving me from SquirrelMail, really, thank you. Second its really hard to look up what has been discused on the list to see what has been said and what hasn't, so forgive me if I say anything redundant, besides suggestions should be seconded, and thirded ect. Anyways. So my main point, the config file shouldn't be in php format, its really awkward to work with. I know it was probably easier to do out of the gate, but at some point it should be broken up in normal config style. Like: db_host = localhost db_Name = roundcubedatabse db_Password = p@ssword Instead of the mysql syntax in a php array. DateField too narrow

Well, due to the different ways of displaying this and last weeks mails this rarely happens, but for old unread or marked [bold] mails the date field is about 2 or 3px to narrow to display the whole '30.12.2006 21:40' Maybe it got fixed in a newer SVN version already, in this case ignore my mail :P

Hiding the preview pane

Hi, I think what roundcube needs badly is a way to quickly and temporarily hide the preview pane. I often find spam messages in my Inbox that SA has not caught (different story). When I click to drag them into the Spam folder, they are loaded in the preview pane, which bothers me. There should be a button to quickly hide the preview pane so I can drag mail without it being loaded. I'm gonna make a ticket for this, too. Cheers, ~Mik

Spam suggestions?

I have been using SpamAssassin, but I have had problems where incoming spam causes the server to become unresponsive for long periods of time. This is obviously unacceptable. I am pretty sure the biggest part of the problem is that fact that is running with Perl. I have had problems with Perl before when I wrote CGI applications where it can lock up a server if you are handling a lot of data. I specifically have it set to only handle messages under a certain size, but I still have problems. I host other things on the same server, like my DNS and Web servers so I cannot allow the spam filter to kill the performance of all applications. Is there something better that I could do? I am seriously considering having all of my mail aliased to my Gmail account and not allow incoming mail to be stored on this server. Hi Phil, Thanks for your reply. Roundcube did something funny with it though. Now that I've hit reply I can see what your wrote. I'll check the archive later to see if I missed anything. Sorry, I meant to put more information in and forgot. I'm running a default install of Fedora Core 5 with Apache2, PHP5, MySQL, Dovecot and sendmail. I'm also only using the beta version of Roundcube. As to the ruleset, I'm using those from gotroot which can be found here. http://www.gotroot.com/mod_security+rules but not all. I have added the following to the base rules in mod_security.conf. Using them all can load up your server. The error logs seem to relate to useragents. You could try just that file if the rest are too hard on your server. Googlespell and mod_security?

Hi, I am wondering if anyone uses Roundcube with mod_security on Apache? I got some 406's from logwatch this morning. Requests with error response codes 406 Not Acceptable snip< /?_task=mail&_action=spell〈=en: 3 Time(s) The previous day while writing some emails I ran the spell checker to get an error message indicating a problem with the server. The relating error logs point to IP's in South East Asia. Mod_security seems to be doing its job but I wondering if anyone with more experience that myself has noticed this as well? And if it's a problem? Could just be a problem with the Google servers? All seems fine today. Spell check runs fine. Regards, Robert.

Spam harvesting concerns

I just saw that everyone who posts to the mail list has there email pasted on the net for spam bots. This is how a couple of my email addresses got ruined by spammers. There needs to a a regex replace filter or something for emails to get emails in name at domain dot com format or something, otherwise everyone posting to the list is going to see spam rates OCTUPLE! i.e. http://lists.roundcube.net/mail-archive/roundcube.dev/2006/12/seq/ Michael Phillips

SVN 439/440; settings dialog

Hi, SVN 440 introduced a bug that prevents me from clicking the 'Save' button on the settings page. 3 new feature ideas.

I would like to add some functionality to roundcube. 1. The ability to check box to automatically sign in next time or to just save the login. The information would be stored in a cookie that expired in like 30 years, if people on the development team think its ok to store the password it would be done in a hash obviously but everyone's imap/pop client would have to support the hash then. 2. For visually impaired people, have a selector for font size that simply changes the css or a high contrast theme. I think it would also be neat to use flite (http://www.speech.cs.cmu.edu/flite/doc/index.html) for text to speech. There would be a link that could be enabled which when clicked would let them save the message as a wav file, then play it back in audio form. I already do this for captchas on my websites. I'm sure most visually impaired people already have software on their computer do this, but they are probably all windows people. this could allow visually impaired people in linux or other less supported OSs to get an audio version of their email. Some web applications sport a logo indicating compliance with http://www.section508.gov/. 3. GnUPG support, I would like to add the ability sign or encrypt messages. A user could paste their private key into a form that then saved it on the server in sql. There is probably a huge security issue with saving private keys on a server. Does anyone see value in setting up a sandbox/testing website. I was think of writing a public website to sign up for real email account that interfaces with the latest svn of roundcube. Maybe modify the interface to have a bug reporting links and or comments on known issues. This would probably increase bug finding rates dramatically. Michael Phillips

A bug in a parser for sqlite dsn ?

Hello I don't know if it's a bug, but I have lost many time yesterday with that. First, I installed a roundcube with sqlite and the sample configuration "sqlite://./sqlite.db". It work :-). Yesterday, I want to move my db to another directory, "/var/roundcube/roundcube.bd". I updated my db.inc.php with the new db_dsnw "sqlite:///var/roundcube/roundcube.db". It doesn't work :-(, I have the screen with error "Error No. 1f4)". After research, config is parsed by "parseDSN()" of DB.php with the patern "phptype://hostspec/database". sqlite://./sqlite.db phptype = sqlite hostspec = . database = sqlite.db ==> sqlite use the file "sqlite.db" (In fact, it's the same that './sqlite.db'). sqlite:///var/roundcube/roundcube.db phptype = sqlite hostspec = database = var/roundcube/roundcube.db ==> this config doesn't work. sqlite:////var/roundcube/roundcube.db phptype = sqlite hostspec = database = /var/roundcube/roundcube.db ==> this config works. Maybe I'm an idot to try 'sqlite:///var/roundcube/roundcube.db' but I think it is more intuitive than 'sqlite:////var/roundcube/roundcube.db'. I'm not sure that is possible to fixe the function 'parseDSN()' because we can't do a generic solution for parse "mysql://localhost/db" and "sqlite://path/to/db". The solution is maybe to add a note to db.inc.php.dist to explain the problem. Black Myst. PS : If you think it's a bug, I will open new ticket tomorrow
