A few new options in main.inc.php (default username)

Hello all ! I am using CVS version for my personnal usage. To the least, I must say that i\'m impressed with RoundCube ! With it, I started to enjoy webmail again :-). Since I am the only user of my webmail, I find it troublesome to have to enter each time my username (yes, i am lazy :p ). So, here it is : an option to have a default username, and to enable only this user to log in: $rcmail_config[\'default_user\'] = \'your_username\'; $rcmail_config[\'only_default_user\'] = true; The corresponding diff is attached (main.diff). Second option: customize the \"junk\" folder name on the imap server (in my case, the folder is \'Spam\') $rcmail_config[\'junk_mbox\'] = \'Spam\'; Do not forget to also change $rcmail_config[\'default_imap_folders\'] accordingly. Diff file is func.diff The code behind these options is very simple, you should not have problem to integrate them in your setup if you wish them. Have fun with roundcube ! hello everyone! I want to thank you all for your comments on my idea. (Except sofar, you are good in flaming I see...). Its right, I did't know anything about Zimbra. Zimbra is a great webmailer, except it is not looking as cool as roundcoube :-) Performance could be better... we'll see. Code should never be written twice... regrads, Tobias

New CVS snapshot available

Hi everybody I just published a new CVS snapshot for download. It contains the current version which is on the way to become a beta version. I think the most important things like message caching and UTF-8 support do work now. Of course there are some open tasks and some known problems with specific messages showing no attachments and things like that, but I guess it's time to make a break and look forward to release a new "stable" version. A request to all translators will be sent soon with a list of recently added texts in order to have all localizations up-to-date. Actually, I wanted to add the search feature for the beta version but I didn't have enough time to do so. If somebody of the current developers would like to take care of that, I would really appreciate it. Here are some of my plans: * Adding a simple search field to the message list for "quick search" in subject and sender. * The search results (a list of message ids) should be stored in the cache for this session. * A search-id would be passed to the client and sent with each request (i.e. sorting, paging) to access the cached search results instead of querying the server again and again. * If the user clears the search input field, all messages are shown again * A search method is already available in the rcube_imap class Any thoughts? Problem Sending Attachments

Hi, First off I'd like to say thanks to everyone involved with RC for their hard work. You guys have produced one of my ideal webmail clients. I love it! :) Ok, so on to my problem. I'm running FreeBSD 6.0 with Courier-IMAPd & Postfix, and "User-Agent: RoundCube Webmail/0.1b" For some odd reason, I'm having trouble sending e-mails with attachments. I did some investigating and found that the resulting e-mail's primary header didn't contain Content-Type. It should be something along the lines of Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="..." So I browsed through the source, found where the actual mail is sent, and added some code to add that header specifically (which uses a regex to extract the boundary string as I noticed the encoding is reliant on PEAR:Mail_mime). No dice :(. I played around with Content-Transfer-Encoding, and Content-Type to no avail. I have no idea what's causing this. I sent an almost identical email (with the same attachment) through SquirrelMail, removed the extraneous headers (time, etc.) and did a diff. Practically no difference! The base64 encoding looked fine. The only differences were in the body text charset and transfer encoding. So as it is, I'm out of ideas. If you guys want to see the actual e-mails, I can send those if you like. Heck, give me your email address and I'll send you an e-mail with an attachment and you can see for yourself what's wrong. Hello I'am a french developer. I realy like RounCube but it doesn't support POP ! I don't understant why you don't use the imap function of php (as imap_open() ...) I work to change it, it's hard because i start with php (since 1 year) ! I whant to do whith round cube as outlookExpress : A mail reader of all email acount in the same time with the folder list ! do you work do do somting else ? if you whant i can send you my work but i think it will not ne interesting for you because it isn't your goal ans it's dirty. please excuse my engligh !! Serious Bug in Roundcube headers (bcc)

I've been using Roundcube as my main web mail applicaition now for a few months. A couple of days ago I sent an email out to a list of recipients (about 20 friends), all in the BCC field, in order to prevent people from replying to everyone on the list. One reply I received was from someone asking why they could see everyone's email address in the BCC field. I've just upgraded to the latest CVS version (about 10 minutes ago), and tested again. It seems that RoundCube is including the BCC header as a regular header in the email and thus it's being sent to everyone. Fortunately I was just using the BCC header to control replies and it didn't really matter that others could see each others info. But this has the potential to cause some serious problems. Imagine emailing your girlfriend explaining how she's not being rational, and bccing a buddy cause it's so funny, and then she see's you'd bcced him! Not going to be a fun time! lol. My Config: Using PHP 4.3.10, on Apache 1.3. qmail is the smtp server, and RoundCube is configured to use smtp, not mail(). -- Dave

Feature request: interface for manually adding users

Hi! On my webhost (www.dreamhost.com), all email address that are created are assigned a randomly generated username (m########). As such, RoundCube doesn't work out-of-the-box for logins. You have to manually add users to the users table in the MySQL database giving it the correct username and alias. Being as I don't think there's any way to get it to auto-discover the real username and I'll have to add these users manually every time, would it be possible to get some sort of Admin interface that makes doing this easy inside of RoundCube? I could write one myself, but I'm not familiar with the codebase and am definitely couldn't integrate it that well into the design-scheme of the app. Any thoughts on that? Thanks! -Joel

Login problem on DreamHost server

I am on DreamHost and am having a heckuva time logging into RoundCube. I've tried every login/password combination I can think of but nothing will let me log in. I can use their SquirrelMail webmail just fine however. Has anyone had this problem on DreamHost?

Since I am a Java programmer, I am looking for people how are interested in a Java port and, of course, other Java programmers who want to help. If someone knows a java-based webmail with usable code, let me know please. want to add php code in your templates? here's how open the folder roundcube/skins/default/includes open each html file in your favorite text editor and add <?PHP ?> as the very first line. save them as php files. for example header.html is saved as header.php next open the folder roundcube/skins/default/templates open each html file in your favorite text editor and add <?PHP ?> as the very first line. find all instances of <roundcube:include file= and change html to php for example: <roundcube:include file="/includes/links.html" /> becomes <roundcube:include file="/includes/links.php" /> in the file addressbook.html around line 32 find the line that reads: <roundcube:object name="addressframe" id="contact-frame" width="100%" height="100%" frameborder="0" src="/watermark.html" /> change watermark.html to read watermark.php save them as php files. for example addcontact.html is saved as addcontact.php open the file roundcube/skins/default/watermark.html add <?PHP ?> as the very first line. save watermark.html as watermark.php next open the file roundcube/program/include/main.inc around line 769 find the line that reads: return is_file("$skin_path/templates/$name.html"); change $name.html to $name.php around line 782 find the line that reads: $path = "$skin_path/templates/$name.html"; change $name.html to $name.php save and you're done!! open and run roundcube. everything looks the same and acts the same but now you have the ability to use php in your templates.

Taskbar png

In my testing, someone claimed that there wasn't enough contrast between some of the form elements and the background color. The user complained about "white on white", even though it is white on light gray. Anyway, so I started investigating what it would take to change the background color. Answer: not much, just a simple change of the css. However, with this change the nice taskbar in the upper right doesn't look so nice because it doesn't fade from white to the background color. So I created a png image (attached) that uses transparency instead of the gif that is currently there. Replacing the gif with the png has no downsides that I can see. It does add these benefits: * 25% smaller size * Ability to change the background without bad effects for browsers that support png transparency. To use the png you will need to drop the png in the skins/default/images/ directory and change the #taskbar definition in skins/default/common.css (around line 121) to use taskbar.png instead of the .gif version. RoundCube Themes/Skins

It seemed like the dev list was more appropriate for this then the user list, so here goes. Having done theme work in the past on a verity of applications I decided to give RoundCube a go. I very much enjoy using RoundCube webmail but was looking for a more playful look. I decided to take the popular Thunderbird theme "iCandy Jr." and use it to skin RoundCube. Bug Report: Browser Window Title Not Updated Correctly

Hi there, In the latest CVS, the browser title tag is changed to reflect the number of messages in the current window, eg 'INBOX (2)'. This is a great feature, except for one minor issue. If I mark a message as read (by clicking the blue *) then delete it, the folder list new-message count is reduced, but the title bar doesn't change until I click the 'E-Mail' icon in the top toolbar. Feature request: virtual folder

Hi, I think I saw such thing in Zimbra and that Google have something similar; some sort of search-criteria based folders. That is to say, messages that matches a set of criteria are viewable under a special folder. This feature could be very interesting when you're subscribed to mailing lists. Do you think it could be easily done using informations from the cache ? I do not have significant PHP experience so I don't think I'm gonna try to add this feature. Trouble with Inbox

I have evaluated roundCubeMail latest alpha release back in early November and I liked it. I did have some trouble using it on IMAP server from OpenVMS boxes (hangs and timeout during login), but after few cvs updates, it solved the problem. Around in December, maybe before, some of cvs snapshots now have giving me some problems, the Inbox pane is displaying new messages incorrectly. Even with the latest cvs snapshot, the problems still exist. I have attached two jpeg files. The 1st jpeg file shows Inbox pane with new messages but with blank subject, sender, and date. If you double click on it, load snippet appears and will hang if left to long. I can move new messages the different folder and able to read them as if they are old messages. If I move one new message back to Inbox (see 2nd jpeg file) it will appear as two messages, old message with blank header, and new message with correct header. Again, I can read the old message but not the new one. Roundcubemail box: Gentoo with Apache2 server IMAP box: OpenVMS with PDMF IMAP server RoundCubeMail works great on MS Exchange IMAP server with no problems. But we have over 20,000 e-mail users on OpenVMS clusters. We need fast, but simple and ease of use mail web-interface with all the standard features; RoundcubeMail shows promises. Squirrelmail chokes and our current mail web-interface Webmail (commercial) lack features and is too slow. Hordes Impmail does PDMF IMAP very well, but lacks features plus installation and configuration are difficult and pain in the ass.

Feature request: Custom width of folders list tab

In order to have the width of the folders list tab fitting with different translations or folders names, it would be great if the width of the tab could be resizable or fixed in the preferences screen with a new field where you can enter a size in pixels. Do you think this feature could be added to Roundcube ? Thanx. P.

Weird, no matter what I try and upload as an attachment it encodes it in the email instead of keeping it as a separate file. You can see the effect in my last email (pane_resize.html) This was using the latest cvs version. I am using my work mail this time and I also rar'd it.
