trash can and messages count not updating on delete

l deleted contents on inbox/sent folder then deleted trash folder. However the trash (count) still showed a number and the messages count top right still showed a count as well.

Major updates - testing required

Hi everybody After two days of intensive coding (now my girlfriend is offended) I finally rebuilt the caching mechanism which caused many problems and performance issues. Therefore a new database table (messages) was created. There also have been minor changes to the database so please check the SQL scripts. Together with the new caching process, server side sorting was also implemented. When showing the message list, only one page is retrieved from the server and cached.The message cache is complete, after every page has been loaded once. After that, RC attempts just to synchronize the changes. Even if the cache is not complete the loading time should decrease since there's only the message index transmitted and already cached headers will not be reloaded. For further development I will try to start a child process to fetch all message headers in the background but not making the interface wait for it. The new caching implementation is not tested well and that's why I would like the experienced RoundCube administrators and developers to try out the latest CVS. Because the public CVS repository updates several hours or days later, I added a snapshot here: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/roundcubemail/roundcubemail-cvs-20051203… I also reworked the database class and tested RoundCube with MySQL, SQLite and Postgres. All initial SQL scripts have been updated and RC should now work correctly with Postgres. Probably there could be some optimization with Postgres but I'm not very familiar with it. For all Postgres users out there, please test RoundCube and don't hesitate to post bugs or suggestions here. Last but not least, I have included the patch for signatures (thanks Craig) and added a drop-down with a charset selection when composing a message. I know that there are still some issues with character encoding especially when getting things over XMLHTTP. Well, that's it for the moment. Next I'll take care of the message searching functionality and after that I think we're ready for an official Beta release. Thanks for your patience! Thomas P.S. Patch for default from_domain (via server variable)

My users unfortunately would be sending email as username@localhost for a good 10 years before they read my email saying "Set up your identity so you don't look like an idiot". Either way I developed a small patch that creates the global config variable "from_domain" and is set to the servers variable MAILDOMAIN as in this example: <VirtualHost *> .. SetEnv MAILDOMAIN mydomain.com .. </VirtualHost> this modifies only the email portion of the identity creation functions, if no MAILDOMAIN it will revert to the default behaviour. Is this just a fixup in what would be a large patchset for better vhost setups? hopefully.

I attached one in diff -uNr formatting, and should be applied with -p1 from toplevel directory. I make no guarantees on the quality of this though, as I have only tested on one server. RC with PHP5

I'm having lot's of problems witha server migration I just did which has PHP5 (the new server, the old one used PHP4) and Horde+IMP (which as I read, will not support PHP5 in older versions). PostgreSQL + Encoding

Hello, I recently received an e-mail containing German umlauts (ä,ö,ü), which produced the following error when loading the message: DB Error in /var/www/webmail/program/include/rcube_db.inc (283): DB Error: unknown error Query: <snip> [nativecode=ERROR: invalid byte sequence for encoding "UNICODE": 0xfc7220] Apparently, the error is connected to the message's original encoding, which is: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="ISO-8859-1" I'm running Roundcube on Apache 2.0 with PostgreSQL 7.4 as a backend. I have not tested this error with the 8.0/8.1 releases yet. Any ideas?

Hello all, As mentioned previously we are looking at putting Roundcube out as a dev client in the following setup; L O C A L H O S T | External Roundcube -> Perdition -> IMAP Server \ Roundcube and Perdition are on the same server. The IMAP servers are seperate entities. The config of roundcube means that in this instance I would need to set $rcmail_config['default_host'] = 'localhost'; Unfortunately this means the knock on effect is that any logged in users gets 'username'@'localhost' as their originating email address. Is there any way for me to specify a default domain for email addresses or to set this parameter on a per-user basis? The alternative solution is to attempt to pre-populate the roundcube database with our user ID's or to ensure that our users know that when they initially log in that they will need to setup their identities before they are allowed to send email. Your thoughts on this are appreciated. RC Front End, what goes on the back?

Hello group. I attempted searching through the discussion archive but couldn't find anything. I have a site currently using a 3rd-party email provider. We would like to bring everything inhouse. Currently, our email hosting provider is supporting approximately 11,000 users. I would certainly like to see RoundCube used as the front-end but am looking for any guidance regarding the back-end (software and hardware). Thanks (in advance) for your help. -giancarlo

We are migrating our existing pop3 webmail (Uebimiau) to Courier IMAP. We had 2 choices: 1. Squirrelmail 2. Roundcube We discussed a long time but concluded we prefer using a stable webmail like Squirrelmail. Although Roundcube looks 10 times smoother than squirrelmail. user unable to delete messages

One of our users ran into a bug where she had 200+ message in her trash and was unable to delete them. Trick for that was to go into a message, delete it, then you could select/all delete in the Trash folder. You have to repeat this process until you empty the bin. I got this down to the last 16 messages and they would not delete whatsoever. So, I deleted her account and added her back in. (We use a Cpanel backend, btw.) Now, she cannot delete messages at all. She does not have a trash folder under Inbox and Sent items. When we try to delete a message either from the inbox or inside a message, it flashes an error 'Cannot move the message.' What can I do to completely reset this user's cache and such and make RC treat it like a brand new email address? Using the 1203 CVS version.

Hi folks, I just installed from cvs current version of roundcube. I use it with mysql4.1 but it is terribly slow. Any howtos to improve speed? Running top -u shows imapd up to 15% and that's it. Logging in takes forewer and switching between folders as well. Any ideas? Robert

Make pretty dates non-pretty over a week old?

Just wanted to make the suggestion that pretty dates really only make sense within a week, any longer and it is just confusing. I'd suggest that emails over a week old be shown in the full date format instead of the pretty date format.

Bug in RoundCube with Opera

- When using Opera (8.5X on Windows or Linux) go to INBOX and double click on a message to view. Then click on the folder name your in on the left (INBOX) again and the session will time out and you will get the login box again. Thanks Craig Whitmore Orcon Internet

Non-displaying attachments

Hello all, I recently installed Roundcube on my home mail server. Love it. I realize it's alpha, but I already love it. Biggest initial complaint is that it seems to not display attachments. I have a few messages in my INBOX that are sent as plain-text and HTML and include some extra attachments (i.e. MS Office documents, jpegs). RoundCube shows the HTML entry, but doesn't show the pics or docs for download. Is there some configuration bit I can set to make this work correctly? But here's the jist of it.. 1) Mailrouter (postfix w/ ldap support) 2) Mailhost1 (postfix / mailDir delivery / courier-imapd w/ ldap support) 3) Mailhost2 (postfix / mailDir delivery / courier-imapd w/ ldap support) The mailhosts are individual partitions of the entire mail delivery landscape. Basically, each server holds it's own set of users - let's say 75K per server. OpenLDAP will be installed on the mailhost(s), and will only hold user accounts and deliver only to users that it services (share nothing approach). we'll have a ldap tree like this dc=testbed, dc=com ou=vmail, dc=testbed, dc=com ou=mailhost1, ou=vmail, dc=testbed, dc=com ou=mailhost2, ou=vmail, dc=testbed, dc=com mailhost1 has an ldap server (master) that services users under the subtree ou=mailhost1, ou=vmail, dc=testbed, dc=com mailhost2 has an ldap server (master) that services users under the subtree ou=mailhost2, ou=vmail, dc=testbed, dc=com now for the mailrouter, it's also has it's own local ldap server, which sync-replicates from the two master. Basically, it will tie together those two subtrees into one consistent view for use by postfix on the mailrouter, the end result is an smtp forward to the proper backend mailhost for local delivery. so that a ldap subsearch on ou=vmail, dc=testbed, dc=com with something like (&(objectClass=CourierMailAccount)(mail=someusers(a)somemail.com)) will return the mailHost attribute <-- postfix will automatically forward the message to the properly mailhost for local delivery. Now for horizontal scalability, it's easy enough to add a new mailhost that will service another 75k users. If the mailrouter is becoming a bottle - it's also quite easy to scale it by adding another mailrouter box. HUB = mailrouter SPOKE = mailhosts If you want to prototype such a system and need help in configuring all the various bit, e-mail me and i'll send you the compile flags, configuration files.. Error when sending e-mail also can't delete

I'm using the latest CVS version of round cube and here are a couple things I am seeing. 1) any time I send an e-mail I get this error "IMAP Error in /opt/www/html/adnd.com/html/rq/program/steps/mail/sendmail.inc (): Could not save message in Sent" 2) I can't seem to delete e-mail. I highlight it, hit the delete icon, it disapears, but the next time I go to my inbox, it is there again. -Steve
