Hello! I'm trying to ignore all the rants and personal accusations and get back to the a constructive conversation about a technical problem. First, let's start a new thread since it has actually nothing to do with the 0.9.1 update. Second, there are reasons that Roundcube comes with a custom session handler and those are still valid. We didn't do this just for fun, believe me! The main reason are concurrent http request which alter session data. Image the following scenario: A) [r]----------- big file being uploaded ------------[w] B) [r]----- fast upload ----[w] In PHP, session data is read when the process starts and written when the process ends. With the scenario from above, the session changes of request B) would be lost when A) finishes. Until now I don't know of any solution with default PHP session handlers that would be able to handle such a case properly. Another more performance related reason for you custom handler is the check if session data actually changed before issuing a (useless) update query. Sure, we could store file upload information somewhere else than in session but the underlying problem of concurrent requests overlapping each others still persists and can happen in other cases, too. Switching to an external library might be a solution but don't they use custom save handlers, too? Speaking of which: what Roundcube does is to call session_set_save_handler() in a very early stage of the script startup. That's the API PHP provides and we sticked to the documentation for implementing the handler functions including returning true to signalize success. Unfortunately I don't have an explanation for the errors you reported without being able to reproduce it. So let's try it the old fashioned way and eliminate possible factors. @Harald, could you run Roundcube on a PHP5.4 without Suhosin to rule that out first? And please everybody, choose your words wisely! Zimbra server and roundcube INBOX messages list problems

Hi, I have a problem with my zimbra server 7.2.3 with which, however, use rouncube as imap client , when a new message arrives, the number of unread messages in INBOX on the left box is updated while the list of messages to the center box (subject, date, sender, etc.. ) it does not appear, appears only changing folder. I've tried various settings on zimbra, I also tried to enable and / or disable the proxy imap but it does not work. I also tried various settings in IMAP section in CR especially with imap_force_caps but does not work. Any ideas ? Thank you Marco

Stable version 0.9.0 released

Hello folks We can proudly announce the next stable release of Roundcube. This version enhances the webmail experience with these new features: * Improved rendering of forwarded and attached messages * Optionally display and compose email messages a new windows * Unified UI for message view and composition * Show sender photos from contacts in email view * Render thumbnails for image attachments * Download all attachments as zip archive (using the zipdownload plugin) * Forward multiple emails as attachments * CSV import for contacts The major change of this version isn't really visible to the users but even more important for the developers: the Roundcube framework. We decoupled the core functions for IMAP access, SMTP email sending, database abstraction, caching, etc. from the webmail application in order to make them usable for other free software products. Another major change since the 0.8 series is the new database abstraction layer. In order to add support for SQLite3, the PEAR:MDB2 dependency was dropped and Roundcube now uses the native PHP Data Objects (PDO). It's enabled by default since PHP 5.1 and is considered stable and well-developed. One drawback, however, is a small lack in the MySQL PDO driver which makes PHP 5.3 a requirement for this version of Roundcube when using the MySQL database. A minor but rather handy improvement is a complete new database update mechanism that makes schema changes much easier to be deployed. After the upgrade, simply run bin/updatedb.sh to apply the necessary changes to the database Roundcube connects to. In case you used bin/installto.sh to perform the update, the schema upgrades are done applied and no further actions are required. After lots of testing and collecting your feedback, this version is considered stable and it also includes the recently discovered vulnerability that allows an attacker to modify its users preferences in a way that he can then read arbitrary files from the server. We therefore recommend to update all productive installations of Roundcube. Roundcube 0.9.1 brakes long URLs

Hi List, I updated recently my 0.8.6 Roundcube installation to 0.9.1. Now I have problems with long URL (for example of eBay auctions) which get broken, if I send emails. For example: col=owner&col=type&col=priority&col=component&col=version&order=priority (See the attachment for the real URL). Is this a general problem or something with my installation? Including department OU/information in LDAP searches

I have been asked to add department names into the results generated by searches and autocompletion against our LDAP directory. This solves problems with common names: I am one of at least four people named "David Carter" in the University. The following hack solves our requirement: it generates results of the form "David Carter [University Computing Service] <dpc22(a)cam.ac.uk>". The "[]" part gets stripped out by the onclick handler for autocompletion. It is however playing games with strings passed from rcube_addressbook.php to app.js.src and relies on the fact that our directory never generates entries which contain '[' or ']' characters. The correct solution would be to pass objects around instead. Localisation of default mailbox names

Our users seem to be rather confused by the localisation which takes place on the default mailbox names: Drafts Sent Junk Deleted Items Largely because they are used to the names: postponed-msgs sent-mail spam Trash and are puzzled that the same mailbox can show up twice in the list of mailboxes with different names. A bit of experimentation reveals that the localisation can be disabled with two separate one line changes to program/include/rcmail.php (which could be controlled by a configuration option in config/main.inc.php). Unfortunately it isn't quite possible to do this using the Roundcube plugin architecture. As usual, it contains some bug fixes and improvements which didn't make it into the first stable version as well as some translation updates. After getting reports that some skin images weren't reloaded due to progressive cache settings, the packaged version now comes with unique urls of skin images referenced by templates and CSS files. If you're pulling the source directly from git you can achieve the same by running bin/updatecss.sh It's considered stable and we recommend to update all productive installations of Roundcube with this version. AUTH PLAIN doesn't quite work

Hi, it seems to me that RoundCube (0.9.0) can't authenticate to an Exim SMTP server (v4.72 on Debian) using AUTH PLAIN. I'm not sure which one of them is faulty here (or is it me?), but it looks like RoundCube is probably willing to send auth information after in a separate line than the AUTH PLAIN command, meanwhile Exim expects all that in the single line (AUTH PLAIN dGVzdAB0ZXN0AHRlc3RwYXNz). Is it a known problem? Rimas

plugins.roundcube.net ready for testing

Hello devs After way too much time, we finally managed to get the composer-based plugin repository for Roundcube up and running. It's a clone of the packagist.org website with some modifications for managing Roundcube plugins. We also built a custom composer installer module that will install plugins to the right location and will also activate them right away in Roundcube's main config file if desired. Now it's time to fill up the repository with your plugins! Thus all plugin developers are kindly invited to register their plugins at http://plugins.roundcube.net In order to do so, you need to put each plugin into an individual SVN or GIT repository and write a composer.json file which contains the meta data of your plugin. Once this is done, please register at plugins.roundcube.net and submit your plugin by adding the URL to the source repository. It's as simple as that. More detailed instructions how to publish plugins and how a composer.json files needs to look like can be found on the http://plugins.roundcube.net site. Please note that the new plugin repisitory is still in beta testing and not officially launched. We're still working on improvements such as a plugin browsing page and more features of the installer (e.g. post-install and post-update scripts as well as automatic database schema upgrades). Different handling (displaying/quoting) of quoted paragraphs

Preamble: This issue may get complicated. It's not a bug report, but at this stage just an appeal and attempt to understand the logic. Maybe Roundcube 1.0-git is doing it all correct, but maybe not. The issue: I received a message, produced with Roundcube 0.8.1, that contained the following quoted paragraph (without the dashed lines): --------------------------------------------------------------------- > Mal was ganz anderes zwischendurch: Es ist ja jetzt bei der Telekom > die Rede > davon, zukünftig ab einer bestimmten Datenmenge den Durchsatz zu > drosseln. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Three things are important to note upfront: 1) The quote above is taken from the message source, not from the display within Roundcube. 2) Lines #1 and #3 of this quote have a trailing blank (20d) in the original message (verified by saving it locally and looking at it with a hex editor). The message you are currently reading will not have these trailing blanks, as Roundcube 1.0-git does eliminate all trailing blanks prior to an EOL upon sending (no matter if the format is flowed or not). Which is a good idea, IMO, but apparently different to the behaviour of 0.8.1. 3) The message is declared as charset=UTF-8, format=flowed and CTE 8bit (not sure if this does play any role here). Upon replying to this message, 1.0-git will will re-wrap the quoted paragraph like this (although I always trusted in that Roundcube wouldn't do any re-wrapping of quoted paragraphs): ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- >> Mal was ganz anderes zwischendurch: Es ist ja jetzt bei der Telekom die Rede >> davon, zukünftig ab einer bestimmten Datenmenge den Durchsatz zu drosseln. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here, BOTH LFs in line #1 and #3 (with trailing blanks) are being eliminated, not only the one in line #3. So we have just two lines. Which does of course look much more nice than the quote of the original message. But what is the logic behind this, and why is the display logic different to the reply/quote logic? Furthermore, I'm not sure if re-wrapping of already quoted paragraphs is a good idea in all cases (in the case above it is, of course). If I think about plain text tables, ASCII art and such, this may become a mess (needs more testing). Apparently the current behaviour is related to those trailing blanks right before EOL, and probably to format=flowed as well (not sure for the latter). Any response welcome and appreciated. Expanded threads lost when switching back to message view

One of the most annoying things I've found so far in roundcube is that if you have a threaded message listing and have expanded a thread, that this when returning to the message listing from viewing a full message in this thread. It is obvious enough why it works this way but it would be fantastic if the message listing state (and position) was preserved so users don't have to search around in the message listing to to pickup where they left off. -- Kelsey Cummings - kgc(a)corp.sonic.net sonic.net, inc. Most likely thanks to the new wrapping routine, which did invent some new bugs on one hand, but at least fixed this one (and probably other ones) on the other hand. Plus the ones that have been fixed in the past days/week. Interestingly, 1.0-git of March 17th still had this bug, the current 1.0-git I'm now using [GIT 20130503.1233] doesn't appear to have it. So the new wrapping routine must have been invented/committed after March 17th. I may have missed that, as the SVN list had a severe leak - apparently due to an outage of the mailing list servers - between Mar 20th (10:43) and Mar 25th (09:11), so I haven't been able to notice the commits during this leakage. Mystery: 1.0-git not usable anymore

Just logged into Roundcube 1.0-git and can't use it anymore: It doesn't load any messages, and it doesn't react to any key or mouse action. It does show the respective link in the status bar when hovering them, though, but that's all. Besides some issues I'm still owing the creation of a ticket for, I just stumbled across another issue: Apparently (and due to reasons which do escape me) Roundcube does delete leading blanks upon sending. How to switch from folder to message pane with a keystroke?

As Roundcube 1.0-git [GIT 20130501.1356] is not usable with a mouse anymore in IE8: Is there any key with which I can switch from the folder pane to the pane with the list of messages? When clicking on the INBOX, I can scroll with the Cursor keys through the list of messages of the INBOX in the message pane. But only in the INBOX, all other folders don't behave this way. Anf of course, this mouse problem should be solved anway. In [GIT 20130422.1409]), that wasn't a problm, but since [GIT 20130501.1356] (or even before( it is one. (The problem BTW is, that any mouse cick on a message sends the entire window to the background, i.e, it's becoming unvisible. That's why I'm asking for that keystroke.) Mobile skin

Hello everybody. My name is Francisco Chacón, am a web developer and am working on the development of a mobile free skin for roundcube. I realized that there is no one free skin, so i have no clear basis for start to develop it(my plan is make it free). I woul appreciate a lot if somebody helps me with some dudes and problems i have. One of my major dudes, is the markup language used for rounduce costumizable? I read the documentation of the languageś elements, but most of them are oriented to desktop visualization, for example the * messagelist * element is a table, but, in my opinion, the table is not practical in a mobile device (needs too much work whit css). I appreciate previously the attention and any comment, help or advise. Thanks

Hi all, Google has already closed their CardDAV service for public and they announced to close their CalDAV service. I noticed that Roundcube's built in Google Spellchecker stopped working yesterday. Does anybody know if this is a temporary issue (on Google's side) or if they have discontinued this service as well?
