I understand that RoundCube is built by a community of programmers.
I am not a programmer but would love to add some features to RoundCube.
I use the version of RoundCube that comes with my website hosting package.
Is it possible to pay a programmer to make changes to RoundCube that will
flow through to all the Linux servers out there that offer RoundCube?
How would I find a programmer that knew enough to do this?
Kind regards,
Chris Hodson

Hi,
first of all thanx for roundcube! It's awesome! I actually installed it on our customer
server next to Squirell Mail. I wanna change to roundcube asap ;-)
Her's a question. Does anybody plan to develop a plugin for a message filtering mechanism?
Is this possible - e.g. like in Thunderbird? Unfortunately I do not have a starting point
how to do that ... so if anybody has a rough idea I could maybe start with such a plugin ...
Comments are welcome.
Cheers
Andy

I really like using roundcube webmail.
I have always thought that a brilliant feature that would make any email
system stand apart would be a notes feature. Imagine if you had a notes
window for each email. When you click on an email you can see any notes
you have left previously. So if I get an email from my boss asking me to
do 3 things I can keep a record of what I have done to act on the email.
I would love this feature.
Kind regards,
Chris Hodson

Hi,
I've corrected the Hungarian translation files (translated all of the
missing messages and changed some mistransations).
Please review the attached files and if everything seems to be OK,
include them in the new release.

Hi there,
on my server im using open_basedir restrictions, which resulted in a
little problem in program/steps/settings/func.inc
referring to version 0.2.2, lines 461 to 463 should be replaced by:
if (!in_array($file, array('.', '..', '.svn')))
if (is_dir($filename) && is_readable($filename))
$skins[] = $file;
because if the roundcube root-dir is the openbasedir defined in apache
config, is_readable results in an error, when trying to check 'skins/..'
the change i propose would first check if the file is really not one
that is in that array and than do the other stuff.
Cheers,
Andreas

Any plans to get translation of plug-ins incorporated somehow in the
Roundcube Live Translator? Discovering missing strings in a translation
would be really easy that way. The name of a plug-in could for example
be selected in the drop-down menu for labels.inc/messages.inc in the
current user interface of the translator.

Is anyone using this hook? I've already implemented performance
improvement as described in item 1. of my request:
http://trac.roundcube.net/ticket/1485690
I use BODY[] instead of BODY.PEEK[] in FETCH command to set the \Seen
flag implicitly. This gives one STORE command less. Now the hook... it
is executed in show.inc when message hasn't got the \Seen flag set. With
my changes the hook will be never executed. I propose to remove this hook.

Hi all,
I had to manually modify some source files of the stable version (0.2).
I think that we need to add at least these fields into the address book:
* Professional telephone number ( telephoneNumber )
* Mobile number (mobile)
* Company (o)
Do you think it's feasible to add this fields hard coded, or it may be
better to add them as options into the configuration files ?
A "remark" field, editable in a text area should be appreciable as well.
ATB, Andr.

Hey Sean C. Sheridan,
[copied dev(a)lists.roundcube.net for transparancy]
I'm not sure -- is it thanks, or no thanks? :-)
RoundCube is on 0.2.2 currently. That is a 0 before the dot -- far
from a 1.0 -- so please connect the pointers to judge the completeness
of the feature-set, etc.. And even if you tried the 0.3. release which
contains the plugin architecture, it's still young software
regardless.
As of focus -- we generally aim to provide a mail client, first.
Filtering, etc. can be, or rather, should be done on the server
because people tend to have multiple mail clients (e.g. Apple Mail at
home, webmail on the road, etc.).
So following this, there are indeed patches/plugins for sieve as you
found out which still require sieve on the server (maybe that was
issue). Sieve is just one solution, a lot of people use different
"toys". If you had a problem with those plugins, the least you could
have done was ask. Our mailing list is active and very responsive.
Regarding the plugin you tried. I don't even know what that means. For
starters, you maybe want to take it up with the author. And if your
bug report/feedback would contain less attitude I am even sure it
would be fixed and/or improved.
Then, I did not get your reference to the email window width, maybe
you care to explain because I've heard people complain about all sorts
of things, but never something remotely related to the width of a
window.
I'm also glad you found a provider, because that means we get to focus
on people who want to help us improve RoundCube vs. flamewars send to
all developers. But thanks for sharing anyway. I'm usually a very
understanding person and I help people whenever I can. For the future
-- you better spend a couple hours researching why people spend time
with open source to figure out how this thing works. Judging from this
email, you seem to be the last person on the planet, who we owe
anything to.
My answer to your email does not mean I want you to shut up. I always
invited people to "complain". Because feedback is indeed what we can
work with to improve RoundCube.
We just expect feedback in an appropriate way which does not piss
people off when they read it. The rules of engagement are rather
simple too. Just stick to whatever your parents tried to teach you a
while back. Sounds old fashioned, but the basics do work well when you
interact with someone else by email. Regardless, if it's an open
source project or something else.
Have a great weekend!
Till
P.S.
Also, thanks for insulting all of our users. =) Hope your buddy from
pobox.com is still your buddy when he reads this.

Hello!
I propose adding logout hook, which would be at logout.
Main reasons:
a)Cleanup for arbitary resources, like implementing moving old mail to
custom IMAP folders / cleanup of mail.
b)Redirect to another page after logout .
