Hello Roundcube users and lovers
The next major release has now reached stable state and is available for
download. The important new features since 0.4 are: full support for shared
folders and namespaces, Internationalized Domain Names (IDNA) as well as
SMTP Delivery Status Notifications. The user interface for managing IMAP
folders has changed a bit and provides new space for further extensions and
plugins. This was already part of the release candidate published some
weeks ago and the new stable version fixed the last few bugs, namely some
issues with namespaces.
We recommend to update all existing Roundcube installations with this
release. Get it now from http://roundcube.net/download and have a lot of fun!
~Thomas

I'm hosting a web site ( http://test-ipv6.com ) that *may* get a fair bit of
attention this week. It will be part of a press release involving several
major web sites. It will also be on the web site of a prominent
organization coordinating the press release.
The server *may* have a sudden increase in business, depending on the level
of attention the press release (and media interviews related to it) gets.
What does this mean for you?
- Mailing lists I host (woodworkers, roundcube, corvette resto, etc) will
possibly run a bit slower on getting mail delivered.
- Web sites I host may be less snappy. Possibly, downright slow.
- Shell access, for those of you who have it, may appear lagged.
- If you aren't sure why you're getting this mail at all, it means
that you have an email address that is routed through my server.
Ping me directly if you're not sure why.
I'm looking into ways to help spread the load to other servers, but I'm
gated on both time and money, as well as IPv6 availability on any resources
that might be contributed. As such, the next handful of days *may* be
bumpy. I want to appologize in advance for that.
I have had the suggestion from one of the web sites on the press release to
look at Google App Engine. I will do that, but I am constrained on when I
can do that. I can't mix my employer's time or resources, with working
on test-ipv6.com. The soonest I can do any significant change will be
Friday.
Additionally, the organization putting out the press release, is working on
setting up a mirror of my site; once complete, they will hopefully take
some of the traffic themselves.
If you have an urgent issue, call 1-877-4FESLER, extension 22. If I can't
asnwer the phone, leave a message (I may be in a meeting). But do leave the
message, and I will get it.

I'm new to this list, but I've been using Roundcube for several years.
Currently I'm working on a IMAP ACL plugin that integrates into the new
folder manager. Or is someone else already working on it?
However, I'm somewhat lost with writing a nice looking UI, so for now it
is very basic. But for me it works (tested with Dovecot 2.0.8 and Cyrus
2.3.16). For screenshots see http://i53.tinypic.com/2en6iis.png and
http://i53.tinypic.com/2gt3fw7.png
Please drop me a note if it's ok to post the plugin to this list for
testing and suggestions ;-)
Attached patch fixes some bugs in Roundcube's ACL handling and allows
the plugin to parse the RIGHTS= capability.

Here's my discussion with Thomas about r4397 change. What do you think?
Another example of this "issue" is when you move a lot of messages to
some folder and when you select other folder before the copying
finishes. It this case "Copying messages..." is replaced by "Loading..."
(before the copying finishes). So, I see two solutions:
1) revert the change
2) use "Loading..." everywhere instead of specific message like
"Copying..." etc.

I just made the experience that a confirmation message and two loading
messages cluttered my screen. From a user perspecitive it's important to
see all confirmations but if something is loading it's not necessarily
important to me what is loaded. I just need to know that there's something
going on and that I have to wait.
Not sure if my arguments can convice you, it's just my opinion...
Feel free to ask more people about this topic.

Thomas

Hi *,
I'm new to Roundcube (I've installed the stable release 2-3 days ago). I
also downloaded the latest RC to check the status of ticket/bug/new
feature #1484842 ( http://trac.roundcube.net/ticket/1484842 ). I've a
lot of "multiple" email account (each user has multiple email address).
I've checked that is not implemented yet, so I'm editing the "address
book" and "LDAP" components to accomplish that. In particular, the
"email" field that an address book returns now can be an array (in case
of multiple address).
It works on my laptop. I'm going to checkout the latest SVN snapshot,
make the same edit (I've used the release candidate), then build up a
"diff-patch" and attach it to the ticket.
Enrico

Hi Hector,
please see this file:

It contains all the actions relevant to attachments.
Also, check out the related hook:

hi,
until today, i used roundcube trunk r4264. everything worked like a
charm.
today, i upgraded to r4378 and now receive an error regarding my
inbox: "Server Error: STATUS: Mailbox does not exist, or must be
subscribed to."
judging by the imap logs, it tries to SELECT INBOX.INBOX (which does
not exist).

as you can see, i have an "INBOX" but no "INBOX.INBOX".
using courier imap behind an imap proxy.
the main.inc.php is nothing out of the ordinary and basically the same
as used with earlier trunk revisions.

Hohoho folks,
Our Christmas gift for 2010 is now available for download. We just
published the release candidate package for the upcoming version 0.5
of Roundcube webmail. It's now feature-complete with a reworked user
interface for the IMAP folder management and improved handling for
mailing list headers. Details are listed in the changelog as usual:
http://trac.roundcube.net/wiki/Changelog
Please download this latest release from http://roundcube.net/download

Hello all,
I'm nearly done setting up Roundcube to be our squirrelmail replacement
product for our webmail system that runs approx 800+ email accounts.
I've added all of the necessary features via plugins such as vacation
messages, password change, and new alert sound... but there's one
problem that I am stumped on how to get around...
The email address validation for addresses in the To: field (and I'm
assuming CC/BCC as well) do not permit me to type an incomplete email
address; that is, just the local username for emails destined to be
delivered locally. On squirrelmail, we can send email to "joe" and it
will arrive in Joe's mailbox - we don't need to type the entire
joe@<host>.org email address. Believe it or not, this is kind of a show
stopper for us because a majority of our email (75-80%) is sent locally
for inter-office communication. All of the users are used to simply
typing the name because our first system (OpenVMS Mail), second system
(very old iMail), and current system (Squirrelmail) all allowed us to
email this way.
Some advice? I'd rather not disable all email validation if possible -
I'd rather have it append the @<host>.org to any addresses not
containing an @ symbol instead, specifically to append the mail_domain
variable from the main.inc.php file - if someone should typo a local
address, they automatically receive a response from the mailer daemon
saying that the address doesn't exist, so this would really solve
everything for us...
Thoughts? Discussion?
PS - Just joined the list and am looking forward to following the
development and contributing where I can :-)

When creating a folder it just hangs at "Creating folder..." eventually
timing out. Firebug shows a 404 error and response "Invalid Request"
Keepalives on this page also have the same problem.
Looking at the request and the source of index.php it looks like the
problem is the folder creation action isn't sending the
X-Roundcube-Request header, causing an error from the CSRF prevention code.
How can I fix this so it includes the missing header?

Hei LDAP gurus listening on RCD
I try to write a howto for a simple LDAP server setup, such that LDAP dummies
out there should be able to setup a server from scratch working with RC "out
of the box". (No, I do not write it for you if you are knowing how to setup a
LDAP server yourself! Just for beginners how I have been some month ago:-)
My first question is, what structure should such a server have... I know, there
exist a plenty of professional solutions, but what I want is just:
- a verry good RC support, including especially groups
- good support for other clients (Thunderburd, Kaddressbook, Outlook, ...)
( if they do not support groups as we do, it sould at least be possible to
read/write contacts)
- RC must stay compatible with other LDAP servers as it is today
Now, what structure do I propose? I prefere two different directory trees:
1) Addressbook directory with grouping subdirectories:
# the base
dn: ou=rcaddrbook,dc=localhost
# some groups:
dn: ou=Group1,ou=rcaddrbook,dc=localhost
dn: ou=Group2,ou=rcaddrbook,dc=localhost
# some contacts
dn: cn=Conact 1,ou=Group1,ou=rcaddrbook,dc=localhost
dn: cn=Conact 2,ou=Group1,ou=rcaddrbook,dc=localhost
dn: cn=Conact 3,ou=Group2,ou=rcaddrbook,dc=localhost
-> this structure works fine with one restriction: having a contact in two
groups means having duplicates, and this is bad
but this is easy to use in RC and even in Kaddressbook while crating a static
addressbook per group (RC will learn to read the group-list soon if needed)
2) Addressbook directory with seperate group list in a sub, contacts and
groups are connected with the member attribute:
# the base
dn: ou=rcaddrbook,dc=localhost
# group and member dirs
dn: ou=Groups,ou=rcaddrbook,dc=localhost
dn: ou=Members,ou=rcaddrbook,dc=localhost
# some groups (not all attributes shown here!)
dn: cn=Group1,ou=Groups,ou=rcaddrbook,dc=localhost
member: cn=Contact 1,ou=Members,ou=rcaddrbook,dc=localhost
member: cn=Contact 2,ou=Members,ou=rcaddrbook,dc=localhost
dn: cn=Group2,ou=Groups,ou=rcaddrbook,dc=localhost
member: cn=Contact 3,ou=Members,ou=rcaddrbook,dc=localhost
# some members
dn: cn=Contact 1,ou=Members,ou=rcaddrbook,dc=localhost
dn: cn=Contact 2,ou=Members,ou=rcaddrbook,dc=localhost
dn: cn=Contact 3,ou=Members,ou=rcaddrbook,dc=localhost
-> this structure works fine on my server, including memberOf search just in
the "Members" subdir. I do not know the restrictions of this structure yet,
clients like RC and Kaddressbook again can access at least with "addressbook
per group", but again, RC will learn to get the grouplist soon (if wanted)
What do you think about that? Is there any chance to access even the group
feature with other modern clients? how?
thank you for your feedback
Andreas

Hello all,
Today at the University of Florida, we began offering Roundcube for one
of our major e-mail systems offered to students. We have around 60,000
IMAP users in an average week, and probably about a quarter of that
number that visit our webmail during an average week.
We're hoping to contribute back to the project in terms of patches, bug
reports, and feature requests. We're already amassing quite a body of
usability feedback from our beta testing.
I apologize in advance if you get some Trac tickets or feedback directly
from users, as we have such a large population of them that some folks
invariable find the wrong place to send feedback & report problems; feel
free to direct them to helpdesk.ufl.edu if you do hear from any.
I look forward to working with the people in the community here :)

Hi all,
One of the first things I do whenever I get the new version of RC is to go into the login form and remove "autocomplete=off". With RC0.5 it seems that the form elements are now called as an include and I can no longer do that.
Where are these now? Is there a way to let skins control this rather than the program or at least as a config setting?
For some of us, where security is not as critical or already have to login to our computers, it would make sense to let the user choose whether to let the browsers save usernames/passwords. In my case, I open my email several times a day and being able to click "login" was simple enough (I would actually like to be able to select a checkbox to bypass this altogehter, but that's another story). Now I have to type in my username and password every time.
Thanks!
// Andrés.

Hi,
The first string is for deletion of a folder itself.
To understand purge you should know a few things about IMAP:
When you delete a message in IMAP, messages may not be immediately
deleted from the mailbox, but instead "marked as deleted" but left
inside the mail box. Client programs either do not show these marked
messages or show them with strikethrough.
Purge (or commonly called Expunge) goes over the mailbox and *really*
deletes all the messages marked for deletion. You should translate it
accordingly, a good guide should be what Thunderbird uses for your
language, so uniformity can be achieved.
Note: I see that in the English translation
folderpurged = Folder successfully purged
folderexpunged = Folder successfully emptied
isn't there a misnaming here ?

Hi,
We got user feed-back indicating that the following string is missing in
labels.inc:
$labels['rename'] = 'Rename';
The string is used in the menu below the contact group pane on the
address book page.

Attached.
Two things that should be changed in the English original:
- support for singular and plural. Having Message(s), Contact(s) etc.
in the interface and translation just looks weird
- the RFC numbers are hard to understand, the order should be switched:
Full RFC 2231 (Thunderbird) -> Thunderbird (Full RFC 2231)
RFC 2047/2231 (MS Outlook) -> Outlook (RFC 2047/2231)
Full RFC 2047 (other) -> Other (Full RFC 2047)
And thanks for this great mail client. Are there plans to have a hosted
service, say, roundcube.com? With the calendar & filter add-on, it
replaced Gmail for me.
