recipient and subject missing when replying

Hi, I've got a tricky roundcube problem. It seems related specifically to our communigate pro imap server. When clicking on reply, none of the header information that should be in a reply gets populated (subject, original email date, recipient). I've noticed that this always happens when the preview pane is turned on, and only sometimes happens when the preview pane is off. I've been using roundcube elsewhere for quite some time with a courier imap server, and don't have the same problems. I've looked at compose.inc, rcube_imap.inc and imap.inc, however, I am struggling to find out the cause of this problem. Any ideas of what to look for would be appricated. I am a php developer, so happy to hunt around in the code, just struggling to get my head around what is supposed to happen. Running rev 912 from svn. If I set $rcmail_config['enable_caching'] = FALSE; Then this problem occurs all of the time. I've done a tcpdump of the traffic between roundcube and the imap server. Something that I don't quite understand is why the appears to be 2 imap queries. Also, I noticed that it's trying to fetch "Reply-to" which is not returned from Imap. Any ideas. Procmail and Exim filters script

Hi all!! I've just made the first filtering script to translate SQL filters to System filters. It takes user parameter (something like 'rcdev(a)cio.cat') and the system filtering type. At the moment, allowed types are 'procmail' (default) and 'exim'. If you call it without params, it will ask for IMAP user and translate filters to procmail format. Translated filters are printed to stdout. The 'help' param prints out help. I repeat: this is a very earlier version. You can only match a containing string on some message's part, not regexps. You can only move messages to another mailbox, not forwarding neither anytihng else. Now I will concentrate on Sieve. If anyone knows other significant mail filtering systems, tell me and, if possible, some syntax specification webpage. After doing firsts versions of more significant mail filtering systems, I will improve a better UI to allow advanced matching systems, probably adding another table to roundcube DB and altering the 'filters' existing one. Please, comment out when (in which step) do you think it will be applicable to svn version (upload work). Attached to this message, I send the script and the output from running the script with my user rcdev, one with procmail type and the other with exim's. Bugs and comments are welcome. Conditional HTML and preview pane

Hi, Another go at a preview pane. I implemented conditional HTML which works like this: <roundcube:if condition="config:preview==true" /> html bla bla <roundcube:else /> other html bla bla <roundcube:endif /> The preview code was mostly Thomas', plus a bit of myself to let the user decide for herself. Code is not yet optimized, so it looks like poo, and I suspect IE6 will have problems, because I delete some CSS which made it look strange in IE7. "Supported" browsers

This may be incorrect, but from reading the Dev mail list, it seems the main developers test on the major browsers. IMHO it seems that RoundCube is "tested" on IE 6 ( Win XP ) and 7 ( Win XP and Vista ) Safari 2 ( OS X 10.4.x ) and 3 ( OS X 10.4.x and 10.5.x, Win XP, Vista ) Firefox 2 ( Win XP, OS X 10.4.x ) Should that specifically be mentioned in the browser requirements ? Are there others that are smoketested by Devs ? If other browsers are known to work by users, those could be added to a "reported to work" section, so there is not an implication those browsers are regularly used by the Devs. I think Opera 9 is used by others on the Dev list, and I use Camino, although always the very latest release. Maybe there should also be a "known not to work" section so bugs don't get filed that will likely never be addressed ? I realize that if IE 6 works, you have covered almost every Windows user, but the Mac platform has had many different browsers available for it, and many different versions of those. Sadly each with differing capabilities as far as HTML, CSS, and ECMAScript support. Hello, Joel. I’m not completely sure that Iphone’s Safari browser is absolutely the same as desktop one. As far as I know all mobile versions have limited functionality because of architecture limitations. Anyway further analysis should be done on this but only few people are having Iphone so there is might be a problem in testing and fixing of this possible problem. If you are agree to participate in the development and make some tests and coding you are highly welcomed. In other case I don’t think that it’s possible to investigate and fix this problem now. Hello, Charles. I was using Firefox 2.x (Windows, Linux), Opera 9.x (Windows, Linux), Internet Explorer. Everything was working fine except for 1 annoying bug in the latest release that's denies to login on Firefox. I don't think that browser names should be displayed in the requirements, because there are a lot of differences in the browsers engine realization (even in the same family). The key here is to specify generic functionality that is used in the Roundcube that at least must be supported in order to work. If we’ll add some browser’s names to the list it would mean that we’ll give support obligations to the community to 100% support for these browsers and it wouldn’t be right. My advice is to keep things like they are now – if your browser is supporting specified functions in the requirement it should work, if it’s supporting and not working – create ticket and we’ll try to investigate the problem. I agree that there is should be a list with the browsers that were reported as working/non-working but definitely not in the requirements section but may be at the bottom of the page. Hi to all. I discovered a problem with the login, where after some logins and logouts, every new Login-Attempt kicked me back to the login screen. Without any mention of a problem in the logs. I searched the forum and found that some users experienced similar problems. After some debugging I found the weak point. The problem is, that the sess_read and sess_write methods that are used during logout and also used from the periodical mail checking process, are not "synchronized" (thread-safe). So it is possible that the two events occur at the same time: The events occur in the following order: 1. Logout calls sess_read 2. Periodical Mail Check calls sess_read 3. Logout calls sess_write (with $vars (temp|b:1)) 4. Periodical Mail Check calls sess_write ($vars without temp) Step 4 ("mail check") overwrites the Session-Parameters from Step 3 ("logout"). The concrete problem in this case is the temp-Parameter. Next login, session_start reads in the session parameter, where "temp" must be true, to start a new session. Otherwise when ("temp" == false), roundcube expects a valid session and tries to resume that session. (In index.php $_SESSION['temp'] will be checked but fails.) The only way a new login is possible, is to reset the cookies (restart IE and delete cookies in Firefox). >From my point of view, the session handlers (session_start(), session_destroy() and session_regenerate_id()) must be atomic. Hello, Emi. I completely agree with Michael, that there are a lot of implementation questions that are not so easily solvable. You should always take in mind that Roundcube is only a client and use filters on all content only in it is not right way to do. All mails are stored on the IMAP server and all filtering should be done there also. Just imagine, not all users check there mails every day or keeping mail client open all the time, it’s normal to have 100 unread messages, so filter should be run at least at the startup causing peak loads on the server (web+imap) and how do you plan to check existing mails for filtering ( was filters applied to this message or no? ) I think that you are heading to the wrong direction. I’m planning to implement my own filters but I will do it in a bit different way. I would create independent table for storing filter data and new preference page would be created for filter management. That’s all that goes for web related stuff. Than external script will be created (for ex. perl) which will fetch data from the table and convert it to the according MDA (mail delivery agent) format for the according mailbox. Such scheme is necessary because not always (in real environment the percentage is about 70-80%) IMAP server with all mailboxes resides on the same file system as Roundcube. In my case they reside on a different machines and I’m unable to access directly mailboxes from the Roundcube. So we have external script that will run for ex. from cron job to generate MDA scripts for mail transferring from the filter table data. All parsing will spread across the working time without any peak loads. I suppose we could cooperate on this task and maybe something usable come out of it. Everything that written above is my IMHO and shouldn’t be taken personally, just FYI. The modifications uses a new SQL table, filters, wich can be filled as done with identities. Then it filters messages using this filters, on rcmail_js_message_list and rcmail_message_list. I've seen some discussion on why not to do it, if doing internally or with sieve or with .forward or so. Look, I've done this, then we can update to permit select the filtering system from configuration. From now, we have internal filters. I think that this is a very earlier version and that can be much more developed. But it runs ok! Well, my problem is that I don't know so much on using svn. Odd javascript problem - not working after attachment download

Hi Guys (inc. Gals of course), I hope to be of more use of the next few months - but we'll see. I noticed that after downloading a non-pdf attachment via the link, none of the navigation buttons in RoundCube work. Seems as if the javascript gets disabled as it works if you refresh the page first. Hello. I have some comments on moving spam to Spam folder buttons feature. I agree that such a feature would be a good addition to the source, so I would suggest expanding your new feature like this: 1) there is should be on/off switch in config file for this feature; 2) there are should be mail folder names to move spam/non-spam to in the config file (not hard coded but customizable); 3) there is should be mail forwarding feature for spam emails. There are might be 2 config variables which contain email address for spam/non-spam messages to be forwarded to for retraining. This forwarder must NOT modify message body and headers. If these config variables are empty so no forwarding would be done only moving email to the folder after pressing corresponding button. I can explain why I think that 3) note is so critical. It's ok to use retraining scripts for all found e-mails in all mailboxes when you have 10-100 users, but if your user count reaches 100k-1m your server simply will die parsing such amount of data (millions of e-mails). In this case mail forwarding is used for retraining, but current Roundcube implementation doesn't allow taking full advantage of this approach because it's deleting original header from the forwarded e-mail which contain anti-spam signatures. We can store these signatures in the mail body but I'm deadly against disturbing user's correspondence with any additional "junk" not related to the mail content. This is my opinion how it should look, please fill free to comment and suggest improvements. In this case if we'll send all mail's within 1 mail's body we'll minimize load on the mail server but it's harder to code. It's on the author which approach to choose. I think it is a design decision and shouldn't be done by me, but the RoundCube designers. Anyway I searched about implementing support of RTL languages in web applications, especially PHP. If you want to quickly test using RTL and changing the page direction, you can right-click the RC window (in FireFox) and choose "Switch Page Direction" to see how it looks. The perfect solution IMHO would be: 1. Use a common.css file that defined the main stuff common to all languages or maybe including the whole thing. 2. Use a special .css file for RTL languages which would overwrite what is needed, like (align, float, padding-left, margin-left... etc) and change them as appropriate. With little change we can also allow the user to choose display the folders left, right or left, when the page's direction is switched as maybe just like an additional feature. Firefox login bug [Ticket #1484639] [SOLVED]

Hello. Yesterday I've made clean install of the latest RC2 and found interesting issue - I was unable to login via Firefox. Entering correct login/pass roundcube were redirecting me back to the login page. IE/Opera were working perfectly. After some research I've discovered that it was the bug with the cookie handling mechanism in the Roundcube. Some browsers understand multiple cookie setting in one session but it's breaking the idea of cookies. IE/Opera does handle but Firefox is one of them which do not handle such situations. If you'll check Firefox cache after login try you'll see 2 cookies with the same name and this is the main problem - Firefox can't decide which one to use :) and doesn't use anyone. In the sess_regenerate_id() you are setting new session id via cookie but previous definition already cached in the output buffer which was set by session_start() function. It's not recommended to do this because cookies do not overwrite previous instances but appends headers with new value. First of all you should delete previous cookie and than set new one. Adding additional mailboxes

Hi Dev-Team, think I got a great idea how to improve RC. I have a cyrus imap server with some mailboxes. RC works fine with it. The only thing I'm missing is the possibility to add an additional mailbox or mailbox folder of another user. Using ACLs it is very simple to give different users different rights to one or more mailboxes (mailbox folders). So, my idea is to add a feature which allows a logged in user in RC to add another mailbox folder via settings | folders. For example just typing in user.another-mailbox.folder in the input field which sets the new folders name. I'm not very experienced with PHP's IMAP extension, but eventually it is possible to simply use the current logon credentials for authentication required by additional mailboxes. With this feature people could use "Shared folders" with RC just by asking their admin about the correct mailbox storage name (e.g. user.another-mailbox.*). Would be a pleasure if you think about it. Weird problem with ldap search (case)

Dear RC devs, I have a weird problem with searching my LDAP addressbook... A search results in displaying 'display name' in either the result list, or in the detail iframe??? In my main.inc.php I've defined the display name: 'name_field' => 'displayName', Changing it to 'displayname' will result in a correct display in the details iframe, but the names don't show up in the result list anymore... :( I've patched program/include/rcube_ldap.inc to be case-insensitive, but that's a really bad way to tackle this... Roundcube breaks GPG

Noticing a strange phenomenon with the latest SVN of RC, when you send a GPG-encoded message from RC it gets corrupted. It looks like each line of the coding is "double spaced"-- extra linefeeds get inserted. I've never had this happen with any other email/webmail clients. I'd like to submit a patch to allow GPG to work as it's quite useful, but I've been going over the code and I can't find why this is happening--I'm assuming it's something in sendmail.inc, I just can't put my finger on it. If you have one roundcube installation for some domains, you have the problem, if you enters the login page, you can see another domain in the select box as the domain you wrote in the uri. My patch checks the domain in the uri, and if there is the same domain in the select box, selects them as default. Roundcube is VERY slow in IE via HTTPS

Hello, I recently installed Roundcube on my Apache2/Fedora Core 6 web server. I have come across a very strange problem that I can't seem to find a resolution for anywhere. Hopefully you can help. :) The issue: When loading these Javascript-based web page via HTTPS in Internet Explorer (IE) (either v6 or v7), each page takes 10-15 seconds to load (sometimes longer). When reloading the exact same page in HTTP instead of HTTPS, the page loads as fast as it normally should (1-3 seconds). Also, if I load a non-Javascript PHP page in IE via HTTPS, it loads fine - which leads me to believe that Javascript is somehow involved in this issue. Further, it appears as though IE is the only browser affected by this. When I load the same Javascript-based page in Firefox vis HTTPS, the page loads as fast as it should (1-3 seconds). Fulltext message searching

Hello, Has a fulltext message searching feature been considered? I think it would be very handy. It could use a MySQL table to store hashes of the message text (with all HTML, nontext characters, and other formatting removed to reduce size). When a search is performed, it could utilize MySQL's FULLTEXT feature to deliver lightning fast search results similar to gmail, hotmail, etc. It could maybe have an automated indexer that works in the background indexing one or two unindexed messages at a time on each ajax request from the browser (after the data is returned to the browser to prevent lagging). The feature could of course be turned off (maybe off by default?) if the user didn't want to use the extra diskspace/processor cycles. Does this sound like something you'd like to see in RC? If so, I can develop the backend for this system if somebody else can write the interface/ajax integration. I have installed ROUNDCUBE webmail today. But I have very critical problem that I cannot see the subjects encoded in 'KS_C_5601-1987'. This encoding is very popular in Korea because MS Outlook Express Korean version's default encoding is it. AFAIK The encoding mechanism is almost same as 'EUC-KR', and I don't know the exact differences between the two. The below line shows a example encoded in 'KS_C_5601-1987'. bug in rcmail_save_passwd()

Hi, Not sure if this is a known issue. I found my rc installation unable to change email accounts passwords in the db. A short digging revealed that the mysql query uses wrong variable. $newpasswd vs. $newpassword (line 44 and 48) Changing $newpasswd to $newpassword fixes the issue. This is version roundcubemail-0.1-rc1.1. Second issue is that there is polish translation missing for texts like 'change password' etc. I checked this via www interface and it says nothing is missing. Anyway I added them manually. BTW.
