Word wrapping when composing a mail

I've noticed that when you compose and send a mail in Roundcube that if you just type your message and do not press enter every 76 characters or so that roundcube just sends the email with one huge long line of text. This makes people who's mail readers (or things like mailing list web archives) complain and they always tell you off and say to set your mail reader to make a newline every 76 characters or so or else they have to scroll across one huge long line of text. When you view the message in roundcube (the sent folder) it looks fine, the display of the message does some wrapping, but if you view the source then you can see the huge long line. Is it possible to get an option added to set a wordwrap length during composing? This mail has been deliberatly typed in this way to show you what I mean. It should look perfectly fine in the message viewer but the source of the message should have the paragraphs only taking up one single huge long line. Regards, Matt. Bug: New mail not showing up in INBOX

While using Safari... If Im logged in and new mail arrives, the Title of the pages informs me how many messages are new and unread in my INBOX, but when I click on the INBOX to update the contents, the new mail does not show up. I must click on a folder other than INBOX and then click on the INBOX again for the new mail to show up. Chris topher(a)rephot.org

Problems with attachments over 2MB

Hello, I've been having trouble attaching any file over 2048KB to an outgoing message. I get no error message either on the RC interface, nor the RC error log or apache logs. When I browse, then hit upload for the attachment, It goes through the upload process, but no file appears in the list of attachments. I've verified the standard problems: php.ini max_execution_time = 300 max_input_time = 300 memory_limit = 72M post_max_size = 64M upload_max_filesize = 60M Apache http.conf: There are no LimitRequestBody or any other LimitRequest fields in the configuration. Am I missing some configuration element somewhere? Thanks for your help

Tabbed Interface?

If this was sent to the wrong place, please let me know the proper place and I'll pursue this there. -- Hello List-- I'd like to have tabbed e-mail, and I'd like a better webmail client. I think RoundCube could be the solution to both: http://www.alexking.org/blog/2006/03/02/tabbed-e-mail/ With the excellent job the dev team has done thus far, I'm sure you've gotten a ton of pet feature requests. However, I'm willing to write the code for mine - *if* a patch would be accepted into core. Basically, I'd like to introduce a "tabbed interface" option (or default, if you prefer, but I think an option is a good intermediary step). The existing RoundCube interface, which replaces the main screen with a screen dedicated to the selected function (reading, writing, choosing from a list), is well suited to accept tabs. I've worked on a number of OS projects and would be capable of creating both the back-end code (using whatever coding conventions you prefer) and the front-end code (images, XHTML, CSS) to add this as an option. I've also got some experience building advanced, cross- platform AJAX applications (FeedLounge). If this is a feature you'd be interested in having in the product? Perhaps there is someone I should talk to about the best way to do the implementation (the 5 minute architecture tour)? Timestamp problems

Hi Ryo, First, a little background; I originally set up my e-mail solution a few months ago by creating myself a Maildir on my Debian box. Using Thunderbird, where my e-mails were stored locally on my PC, I copied across all my e-mails to the server by dragging and dropping the folders. The trouble I have with this is that the date modified timestamp of each e-mail was dependent on the time that the Thunderbird application copied them over to the server. Unfortunately for me, it didn't copy them across in a 'logical' order and consequently the default sorting by 'timestamp' meant that the order was all scrambled (any new e-mails would correctly arrive at the top of the e-mail list, however). To date, I haven't found a nice way of resetting the modified date of those e-mail files based on the 'Date:' field contained within the e-mail file. I suspect doing that may be a better solution to my problem, but instead I have made an amendment to the imap.inc file, which I suspect may in fact be a better solution for anyone facing the same problem. I have added the following lines to the 'iil_SortHeaders' function, after line 1370 (inside the first if-statement); if ($field=="timestamp") { foreach ($a as $value) { $timestamp = strtotime($value->date); if ($timestamp != false) { $value->timestamp = $timestamp; } } } I am interested to know whether you think this is a viable solution and whether the above change could be integrated into your module. The only issue I can see with this is that the 'Date:' field inside the e-mail is dependent on the sending party's server and that could theoretically be set to anything. Also, for one particular e-mail I had, the timestamp was not in a format that the strtotime function could understand (it looked like this: 'Fri, 12 Mar 2004 13:35:05 +0000 ()' and it doesn't like the empty brackets), hence the check for $timestamp != false, which if it fails will cause it to revert to the date modified timestamp of the file. Patches for 0.1-beta

The recently published beta release came up with two ugly bugs. One prevented from saving the language selection in the user preferences and the other completely omitted mail headers when having no smtp server configured. Cannot open messages with large attachments

When I try to open a message with a large attachment (or a collection of attachments that add up to several megabytes), Roundcube spins for a while then times out and displays only a blank white page. By 'large' I mean in the area of 8mb or more. It seems that it is trying to read the attachments, and either Apache is timing out or I'm hitting a PHP limit (I haven't investigated that closely). Can Roundcule be configured to NOT (attempt) to read large attachments when opening a mail? (On the same server, Squirrelmail manages to pop the same messages open without problem.) By way of background, I'm running the beta release of Roundcube on the same machine as the imap server (wu-imap). Caching is disabled in the Roundcule config. Any help appreciated.

The standard behavior is for command-click to perform non-contiguous multiple select. shift-click performs contiguous multiple select command-shift-click appears to perform just like shift-click At least that's how it works in the Finder, which I think should be the Mac reference for this type of behaviour. Version to install or upgrade to?

I am running an old version of roundcube. I have heavily modified the login scripts for automation as well as including an html area for sending. What version should I upgrade to? im having a problem connecting to the cvs server right now, and I am also weary installing the beta because there is quite a few patches that need to be applied. what version do you guys recommend I install?

Populating Username Field with Domain Name

I posted this a while back on the users list and don't recall whether it was possible or not. I simply want the text box portion of the username field to be pre-populated with my domain name (@domainxyz.com) so my users just have to type in their username. Is this possible?

This new select behavior is nice for contiguous selection but doesn't really work on Macintosh. When you control-click you get the context menu (right click for Mac). Hello, My first post, and from RCW ;) I have a first comment on how it manages some problems. Like you guess, I talk about the safe mode's PHP and mail function. When I try to send an e-mail, the Return-Path header is set to the user-apache@hostname email, instead of sender. It is useless, and can waste a lot of time. I propose to remove the ability to send an e-mail with the mail function when safe mode is enable. I was very surprised when I installed this web application. Great work for a first write ! Translation variable introducing a bug (ex: French)

I noticed a bug which seems to be in relation with a translation string in the "labels.inc" file. When the following variable is activated: $labels['compact'] = 'Compresser'; (example for the french translation), then the item "empty" to empty the trash is no more displayed. So if you would like to use this functionality, just comment this line in "labels.inc": //$labels['compact'] = 'Compresser'; Someone knows about this issue ? Any chance to get it solved ? Inbox list not refreshing

I am currently running a the latest public CVS version of roundcube, and I have had problems with the list of messages in the inbox not refreshing. Here is my test case, perhaps someone can confirm if this is happening to them too or not. I send a test email to myself so it should show up in the inbox. I log into roundcube, and I do not see it in my inbox. I see older messages, but not new ones. I can click on the inbox folder, and it still doesn't show up. I click on the "Mail" button in the toolbar, and it still doesn't show up. If I click a different folder, and then click the inbox again, finally it refreshes and I see the new message. --Jacob

Div Tags in Html Email

I set up a website that sends automatic html emails. The stock HTML templates included with the website are layed out using <div> tags and inline CSS code. <table> layouts are usually more appropriate for emails, however the <div> layout displays well in every email client I tested, except RoundCube. I haven't looked closely at the HTML output viewing RoundCube in my browser, but at first glance, I would guess that it has something to do with using CSS to position <div> tags in the layout of the RoundCube interface.

Feature request

Hi, I operate roundcube on a larger server with possibly groing amount of users - therefore I'd like to cover my back and have roundcube add an X-Originating-ip header or something equal to outgoing messages, in the same way that yahoo and hotmail do (actually gmail doesn't do this and this is getting them blacklisted by spamcop all the damn time). Having the ability to add such a header will allow me better to track abuse of my servers and would make roundcube more usable in larger deployments. I'd appreciate it if this feature will be considered ;^) Auke

Czech translation and mb_language error

Hi! I was trying to install RounCube Webmail which is wonderfull. I installed it from FreeBSD ports and works fine, but when I try in preferrences set up Czech language, it's switch off to Czech (just this screen) and wrote php error mb_language 'cz' is not supported. I would like to try if there's not a mistake, because country code is ususally 'cz' but languague code is 'cs' or 'cs_CZ'. I was trying to change an array in program/localization/index.inc.php but in the settings form is still 'cz'. Could you help me or just destinate me where could be the problem... Send mail issue

Hi I have a probleme since a while with RoundCube.. I can read any mail but I cannot send one. I checked every log I could find, tried to set up RC with my isp smtp (which caused an error), and as we say in france, "je suis sec" meaning that I don't know where to start to find infos to solve the problem. Inbox Refresh Issue

Sometimes the Inbox is not refreshing correctly, in that clicking on it or the RC logo (which should refresh it correct?) it doesn't show that there is new messages. Opening a message and clicking the arrow to go back to the message list sometimes refreshes it correctly, so I can see my messages, but this seems like a problem. anyone els experience this? No newlines when receiving RC mail in Outlook

Hi, I've said something about this issue before. When i compose a new e-mail message in Roundcube (RC) with multiple lines (using the ENTER-key), those linefeeds/newlines are not displayed in my mailclient (Outlook). All the text is added after eachother. What can be the cause of this ? Is this a bug?

I have a working installation of an older version of roundcube. I just did a clean install of roundcube 0.1beta into a new folder on the server, configured mail server settings, etc. When I access the directory where the new install is, nothing displays. Geuis

The server where the demo is hosted, does not provide LDAP access, that's why the icon is inactive. If you have the LDAP PHP extension installed, it should work but it still is experimental. PHP Mail Bug - Extra Character added to email address

I have configured RoundCube to use the PHP mail() function by leaving the $rcmail_config['smtp_server'] value empty. When I attempt to send a mail RoundCube returns a message indicating that the mail could not be sent. On checking the logs of my mail server I have noticed that the sender's email address is being suffixed with an extra ">". This is the entry in my mail log: "RECEIVED: MAIL FROM:< John Woods <john.woods(a)strethill.co.uk>>" --- notice the extra character In addition the recipients mail address show the same problem but only when the address is copied from the address book. Here is log entry: "RECEIVED: RCPT TO:<John Woods <john.woods(a)axa-im.com>>" --- again notice the extra ">" A manually entered recipient address is a handled correctly. John

Hi, I have 2 questions / remarks / bugs. First of all .. i love the project ! So i hope there will be a 1.0 soon ! 1 - When i forward a message and I receive it in my Outlook client, the headers of the FORWARDED (so the included one) message are not below eachother in the e-mail as they used to be, but next to eachother. Language resets to value in config file ( 0.1b and cvs 22feb)

I tried to change the language from en_us to something different. Whenever I saved the language all my labels would change to the configured language. But as soon as I click a link I'm getting the language that is in the config file ( default that's en, but if you change it to es it will be spanish..). The language is correctly saved to the database. I've looked into the code and found what is causing it. It is set in two files save_prefs.inc (which is why my labels change correctly after saving). The other place it is set is here in main.inc at line 95. It uses the _SESSION['user_lang'] value. So this _SESSION value should be correctly filled. Is it? No (or at least it's overridden) Check line 82... with that line in place it doesn't matter anymore what language you had saved in your session. When I remove the line everything works as a charm. RoundCube Newbie

I am a new devotee to RoundCube mail and from what I see in the beat I am very impressed. I am running on Win2003 server, PHP 5 and use hMailServer as my mail server. I have a couple of issues which you may be able to help me with (the first is a very minor bug): In the Personal Settings when setting User preferences the language in the drop down list always defaults to English (US) even when the value in the database is another language. However, it is possible to set the required language. Secondly, I am unable to view or access attachments. I have sent myself a mail with a text attachment but cannot see how to view or download it. The paperclip icon appears on the item in the inbox. What am I missing? Thirdly, and possibly related to the above, I have had no issues reading plain text emails but when they are in HTML or Rich Text format (reported as: "This is a multi-part message in MIME format.") I am unable to see the body of the mail. The headers appear and I can view them in the view source but there is no sign of the body. Hi guys just done a freash install of roundcude beta one in a directory called beta. Followed the INSTALL file and when I go tot he web page I see nothing. Any pointers of what I've done wrong?
