[feat] make window.focus based on a pref

Would it be possible to make the 'window.focus()' call in app.js (:156) be based on a user preference instead of enabling it by default. I am currently removing the line on every update; but maybe there a more people annoyed with it; and removal might be an idea ;) --- Sjon

Move to folder

Hi there all! Would it be possible to have a "Move to folder" drop menu somewhere on the message list window? I would like to be able to move multiple emails to a specific folder and that is now impossible. Thanks! -- David Collantes

This is usually done when quitting the app. Messages that appear gray in RoundCube are those which are marked as deleted. You can get rid of them by clicking on "compact." I downloaded and installed the new beta version of roundcube this week. Great job! It really is shaping up to be an excellent webmail client. I did want to share with the list a few of my observations from initial configuration and usage: 1) How does one configure "Pretty Date" formatting? I was able to use 12 hour time in the main.inc.php file for everything but pretty date formatting. 2) There is no way to remove attachments to a compose message in progress. 3) Is there any way to mark messages as "read" or "unread"? Feature Suggestion

I just installed Round cube, and love it. Thanks for making this great software. There are a couple things that bug me about the interface though. The number of messages per page should not be set as a variable, but instead be based on screen size. Since the list is pulled after the main page (be it an iframe or ajax), you can find out how big the viewing area is, and request just enough that you don't need to scroll. If the scrolling went through ALL messages, that'd be fine (1500+ in my case), even if it didn't load the message titles until they were in view. Clicking the next page button to see the next page is fine too. Scrolling just to see the last 5 messages on a page is odd when you have to click next page anyway to see the rest. While I set this manually for now, it'll look odd if I use it on a computer with a different screen resolution. Personally, I'd prefer to see the paging stuff at the bottom, in the same row as the select all/unread/none, but that is just personal preference. There should at least be a way to jump to the first or last page though. The select all/unread/none is great, but not all that useful if you can't do stuff like move them all to another folder or mark them all as unread easily. I'd expect these are already planned, though I didn't see them on the roadmap. Thanks again for this great webmail client! Thanks, Timo

Attachment error opening and not shown

Hi list I've found two errors in nearly the same mail with attachment. With the first email i couldn't download the attachment, in Firefox it wanted to download "" as filename and IE saved something cryptic "xsfKDa". The same email could be opened without problem i Thunderbird. To test it further i tried to resend the same mail i received, so that Thunderbird generates an email with the same attachment. This time the attachment is not even shown in message view, but in the Inbox. This problem is the only reason not to launch the nice beta version on a larger scale. I have an install of the beta up and running, I have dug through the archive and found posts that suggested corrections to a problem with headers not being hidden. I have tried doing a str_replace in the sendmail.inc file for the headers. Also have set it up to run off a postfix/SMTP install. The problem now is that the message comes through as user "Apache" which is the default user that runs the web service. Scrolling problem on Safari

I recently found this problem with Safari (versions 1.3.2, but also with newer tiger versions). The problem is that clicking on the message list scroll bar to scroll up and down through the list doesn't work. The scroll bar doesn't go anywhere. However, if you press the ctrl key down while clicking on the scroll bar, it works fine. There is a similar problem with the Apple key. After selecting anything on the message list, using the apple modifier key doesn't work. This is a problem because Apple-N opens new windows, Apple-W closes the current window. Now macs only usually have one mouse button. Ctrl-click serves as a right click. However, I connected a two button mouse and right clicking on the scroll bar doesn't cause it to move, just a ctrl-click. I've tracked the problem down to a particular change. It is in program/js/app.js between cvs revisions 1.28 and 1.29 (for that file). http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/roundcubemail/roundcubemail/program/j… I applied the differences between these two revisions one by one, and I found the difference that caused scrolling to break. The diff that causes it to break is the one that begins on line Line 246/249. (Lines 255 through 307 in current cvs head) It is a large chunk of code, and I'm not sure exactly what is causing the problem, I thought I would ask here and see if anyone had any ideas. I would be glad to work with to get this resolved. I know few people have macs, so I would be glad to apply patches and report results. --Jacob Brunson

postgres on recent cvs tarball

Hi, managed to get roundcube working with postgres from the first cvs snapshot last year (took some minor tweaks), noticed a new snapshot so thought I'd check it out again. I cleaned out all tables/sequences from my old database. There is one typo in the postgres_initial.sql file on the messages table the session_id should refer to foreign key "sess_id" in the sessions table, not to "session_id" which doesn't exist. The 5th argument can be set up by ini_set() with PHP 5. This patch adds that feature. Look like someone forgot to use stripslashes on the subject and body of the messages... :) Is there a standard for checking in patches if you have access to CVS? I've fixed this, but I wanted to check and see what the procedure was for checking in small fixes like this. Dean

Please reply on-list, since as you can see, I don't really know what I am talking about... (: I hadn't thought about the case where your web server is not the imap server as well, so you would actually want it to connect to the other server. I guess what you want in the default_host array is a flag to say whether to just append the server name to the login, and connect to the localhost, or actually connect to the remote host. [Bug] txt attachments

Hi there, I think I found a bug, when I attach a text file. Let's say I have a myfile.txt file containing "blablabla". I compose a new mail, I attach this txt file, I write "this is the body of the message" in the body, and I send it to myself. With the CVS version, when I click on the attachment in the received mail, I get "<pre>this is the body of the message</pre>" instead of "blablabla". If I open the same mail with the non-CVS version or another webmail, it shows "blablabla". If I rename myfile.txt to myfile.doc without changing what is inside, and send it to myself. The CVS version shows "blablabla", just as it should. Am I alone with this problem ? Thanks, Mykeul

Hi there, I thought about 2 features, possibly simple to implement, I hope you will find them useful : - Add a "domain" field in the login form, which may be populated form a file or a mysql table, so that the users dont have to write username@domain il the login field. It is useful for multi domains hosts. (I saw something talking about a relation host/domain in the config file but I didnt understand) - We often edit message before putting them into a subdirectory, mainly to change the subject for future searches, or to add phone numbers. So an "edit message" feature would be nice. I took a look at where to modify the login form but only find the function call in the template and the function in another file, and I don't see where the field are declared. Thanks, Mykeul

Hello, Attached is a patch enabling the Delete key in the message listing to allow quick navigation and disposal of unwanted mail. Given you can already traverse the list using the directional keypad, this adds to that. Someone want to add a handler for the Enter keypress to enable viewing of the message? PMDF IMAP

I am having trouble viewing new messages from INBOX folder. I am using the latest roundcubemail from cvs snapshot. (Feb-16-06) See jpg attachment. Even looking at rcube database from MySQL shows empty fields. Any clues to resolve this? IMAP Server: PMDF 6.2-1 (http://www.process.com/tcpip/pmdf.html) RCUBE Webmail host: Gentoo Linux MySQL 5.0.18 PHP 5.11 Apache 2.0.55 If you need a temporary account to test this, let me know. Deleting files without Trash folder

I've had a couple of users complain about not being able to delete messages. The cause turns out to be that they don't have a Trash folder. The attached diff/patch avoids this by creating the Trash folder if it doesn't exist before moving a message into it. The only problem is that even though the Trash folder is created, it doesn't show up in the folders list until the whole folders list is refreshed. -- Jacob Brunson Department of Chemistry, BYU

I checked the archives and don't see much discussion of an API for roundcube, but by looking at the code I can see a logical flow that resembles an API :). Are there plans for API documentation in the future? I know it's hectic enough just pushing the code out, but having some good docs for when I'm hacking it would be nice! Also, I saw mention of a 'Quick Search'... Did anyone pick up that task? If not, I could probably tackle that. If so, is there a patch or related code on CVS yet? GPG/PGP Encryption

I noticed that support for GPG/PGP encryption was on the RoundCube roadmap as a planned feature. I, for one, think this would be an awesome feature to have in a webmail client. It does bring up some issues with storing private keys for signing purposes. I guess users would just have to trust their webmail provider with securing their private keys. One possibility would be to implement the feature in two phases: message encryption first since it relies on public keys only and then message signing which relies on private keys. This project is abandoned <http://freshmeat.net/projects/openpgpwebmail/> but might be able to be gutted and reused for the message encryption portion of the problem. It looks like it's under the GNU GPL just as RoundCube is so using code from it shouldn't be a problem. If I get some time I may try and see if I can graft some GPG/PGP features in to RoundCube. My initial idea would be to make these features dependent on GnuPG. Thoughts? -- Bradley Holt

hello, there is a RounCube, downloaded from CVS at 27th of january. we use hungarian localization, with hungarian characters. - if user make a folder with special chars, RC doesn't show it, just its numeric entity - if folder contains special char, but created earlier by another MUA, RC replaces by another non-special char. eg: original name was "Ősz" (it means "autumn"), RC shows it like this: "Psz" - if user wants to select all mails with "all" link, bottom of page, browser drops a JS error: 'this.select is not a function', source: ROOT/programs/js/app.js, line 1303. easy method to adding files?(read description, subject not clear)

Sorry I cant think of a short subject line to explain this. I am adding a web form that my users can use to submit requests to change their passwords. The form is a basic php mail script that delivers only to me. I have figured out how to add a button for it in the taskbar.html in the skins folder. However, I would also like to make it so that the new page is only accessible from inside Rouncube. In other projects I do, I have a "universal" authentication script. For every page I want to limit access to, I just simply do include('verify.php'); on that page and it verifies the session id of the user before displaying the page. I notice that in roundcube, all the session code is accessed by various functions and not just a simple include. Is there a way to extend the authenticated session to a file that is outside the coded framework of Roundcube? I just want to have my mail.php file sitting in the root directory of the Roundcube install and be able to access it when the user clicks on the icon in their webmail. Thanks, -Geuis

Attachment Upload Problem

We have installed Roundcube and love it -- but we are having an attachment problem. We cannot get attachments larger than 2MB to successfully upload to the compose message page. I know what you're thinking -- php.ini -- but both max_upload_filesize and post_max_size are both set to 64M. Apache of course was reloaded as well. The upload_tmp_dir is /tmp (linux system tmp directory, chmod 777 on that dir). I grepped the entire Roundcube install and there are no ini_set statements that would override the php.ini variables. This problem has been confirmed on 3 different servers/installations so we're stumped as to what is happening. Dennis

Hi, I'm the mail administrator for bluehost.com. We've been recently looking around at webmail clients and stumbled on roundcube and we're totally impressed. We'd love to deploy roundcube for all of our 50,000 customers to be able to use, but there's a little bit holding us up: We'd like to be able to pass in pre-defined values to the login form; before we send them the link to roundcube, we already know their username and server fields. I'd like to be able to just pass those in via the URL, for example: http://mailsite/cube? _user=user(a)domain.org&_host=mail.domain.org I've edited the code so that it does this, but I was wondering if it would be possible for this to be integrated into roundcube. My proof of concept code is here: http://digiwano.org/rc.patch . One alternate solution I've been tossing around in my head is the possibility that the servername be automatically generated by looking at the email address. All domains that we host use the name mail.mydomain.com (where mydomain.com is the same as the domain in user(a)mydomain.com) for their mailservers. Hi there, (I searched for similar issues in the archives and found nothing matching, so here we go..) I was giving Roundcube (anonymous CVS from today) a spin and accidentally noticed the behaviour specified in the subject. If you left-click on the Inbox folder while pressing either the Ctrl or the Shift key a new window opens up (well, depending on the browser configuration) and the session becomes expired. This is on a clean, updated Debian Sarge system on today's anonymous cvs (server), while using Firefox 1.0.7 (client). hth, Michele

It's a great idea.. The context menu were missing. However, I tried the milonic thing, the menu is great but firefox does show both menus (custom and default one).. Well as for the merging option, I'm not fond of it.. It may become a bit messy.. As for the limitation of the menu, I think that this webmail is a REAL application, so it doesn't need the default context menu. Patch for download of txt attachments.

Hi, There's an bug in the steps/mail/get.inc that causes downloads of txt attachments to fail. Instead of just sending the $part into rcmail_parse_message, the MESSAGE['structure'] is sent instead, which is an object causing the explode() to fail in rcmail_parse_message. roundcube mangles threading headers

Hi, (cvs-20060205) when using roundcube to reply to mailinglists etc. it mangles the msgid string. Roundcube removes the \'<>\' that are required for some mail clients. Example: Message-ID: <43E71908.8000501(a)cornell.edu> becomes included in the reply as: In-Reply-To: 43E71908.8000501(a)cornell.edu Taken from a real conversation. Another thing that bugs me is that I can\'t do \"select all\" \"delete\" multiple times in the same folder - it seems to bring up the second page/50 items again over and over again. Patch for checking of default IMAP folders on logon.

This prevents roundcube from failing when sending mails if something / someone evil has removed those folders from the imap server. Hi First off let me say that roundcube is an excelent webmail client! I first sent this question to the users mailing list but since no one responded I sent it here hoping there's an easy answer to it. I'm tring to integrate roundcube into Xoops and want to use $user and $pass set from Xoops (it's from another routine which allows each user to have multiple accounts), is it possible to set a default $user and $pass the same way as $host can be set through $CONFIG['default_host']? Non-monospaced fonts in compose textarea

Hi, I have previously reported that I couldn't get the compose window to show a monospace font. Things get weirder though: 1) the main.css correctly sets 'font-family: monospace' for the textarea 2) firefox 1.5 refuses to display the 'user-chosen' monospace font when I turn *off* the option that allows webpages to use other fonts 3) when I turn that option on, the monospaced font appears correctly (however now all other webpages look like crap - I loathe Arial as default font). Just so I get this straight - this is a known firefox bug right? I get this behaviour on both Linux and Windows. Auke PS: if you ask me - *please* replace all occurences of font-family: Courier new, courier, etc etc. by _just_ "monospace". This gives users the choice to pick their favorite fonts easier. Courier just is soo puke ugly ;^))

I've set $rcmail_config['mail_header_delimiter'] = "\n" because my headers were all like this: Date: Fri, 10 Feb 2006 21:22:59 +0100 From: xxx <xxx> Message-ID: <455d52dc361f52a15eb4704ad49b67c1@localhost> X-Sender: p.vogt(a)firestarter.ch User-Agent: xxx Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit But changing the value didn't showed any effect, I can set the value to everything I like to, the extra lines stay... Maybe there is also a bug in program/steps/mail/sendmail.inc: Around line 233: $headers_php = $MAIL_MIME->headers shouldn't this be: $headers_php = $MAIL_MIME->headers($headers) ?? That's it ;-) and thanks for the great work!

IMAP folders with FALSE auto_create_user

hello, another question: there is a RC system, with 200 users, but in config "auto_create_user" sets to FALSE. that mean, only registered users can login. But, in this case all users have to check explicit imap folders, what want to see. How can i set up this, so users don't need to select folders, all folders are active default? thanks: a.
