Yeah I've definitely run into that one quite a lot. I've looked into it but I can't figure out what it is. In my case, using Firefox in Windows (haven't tested Linux but the results shouldn't differ) we get timeouts VERY often. Say every 5 minutes. A few questions with respects to the planned vCard implementation: What are the plans to implement this? Will the address book data be stored as vCards, or simply imported into the database? Will we be using the vCard class, or building a parser from scratch? Is anyone working on this now? RoundCube = very cool!

Hi everyone, First off, let me just say that RoundCube took me less than 5 minutes to get installed and working. It looks great, and the CVS version that I downloaded and installed works perfectly. I haven't seen one bug pop up so far. I'm using the following: * Gentoo Linux * Courier IMAP (shows up as courier-imap-4.0.1) * Postfix * Apache 1.3.x I haven't run into any issues with Courier so far. My main question right now is about plugins & 3rd party stuff. I'd switch over from $other_webmail_package in a heartbeat if there was a way to handle the following: * change passwords (they're stored in mysql) * dink around with spamassassin settings (also stored in mysql) How could I submit these as a "hey, this would be really cool as a feature/plugin!" request? The other package that I'm using has them as plugins. If I was a developer, I'd try to write something myself. Sadly, I am not a developer. Thanks again! -- Jonathan

format=flowed

I've been evaluating roundcube for a while now, and just this morning installed the latest CVS version for testing. I much prefer the look to squirrelmail, my current deployed webmail system. Anyways I quite a fan of format=flowed in outbound email, as it makes it easier for everyone to read mail. For those who use an 80 character console (like me) the mail shows up correctly, and for those who use graphical mailers like Thunderbird or Mail.app get the benefit of automatic line wrapping rather than having fixed length fields in a large application window. I was wondering if there was any plan to send mail using flowed formatting. If not, I would like to request that it be considered. If so, that's great news. Hebrew Translation - give a blank page

Hi all, I was trying to do an Hebrew Translation (which also means doing it Right-To-Left). I Added in the localization dir a 'he' directory with all the files, and translated all messages and lables to hebrew. fopen error

I get an fopen error (pasted below) when I log in with any account that has many messages (~2000) in the inbox. Another user with only ~800 messages does not produce the error. Here's the error: Warning: fopen(logs/errors) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /Library/Apache2/htdocs/roundcubemail/ program/include/bugs.inc on line 70 Everything seems to work fine despite the error. I can suppress it of course by adding "@" in front of fopen() on line 70 of bugs.inc - but prefer to fix it than hide it. Any ideas what's causing it? Best Regards, Stephen

bug when sending mail using groups

When we remove Corp< and > it goes through fine. Doesn't look like roundcube is parsing out the extra code when generating the emails. Is this is a known error that is fixed in the latest CVS? why is server now required on user login screen?

This makes no sense. The server that is being connected to is configured in the database config file. I just reinstalled roundcube to correct a problem our users have been having, and now there is an input requiring them to enter a server address. This is nuts. Can there be a little more agreement among the maintainers and the people who actually use this software before you approve willy-nilly changes to the code??

Inbox refresh?

Hi First of all, thanx for a superb webmail! Finally the webmail has evolved! I have two questions though: 1. Is there a way to set a automatic refresh when viewing the Inbox? 2. Is the folderlist cached somewhere? I have deleted some mailfiles directly in a users homedirectory on the server, but they still appears in the users folderlist when the users is logged into Roundcube. Best Regards Jimmy

delete/move function not working?

Hi, First off, awesome project. Keep up the good work. I'm running the latest snapshot (updated right before I sent this) from a freebsd box running exim/dovecot and I'm not able to delete or move messages from my Inbox. I'll get the popup message 'Could not move message'. I've done a bit of detective work and found that the problem is probably occuring in program/steps/mail/move_del.inc and is getting caught in the first 'move message' conditional. I'm not sure why/how (as I'm not all that keen on ajax), but it seems that '$_action' isn't being set correctly when the delete button is pressed. Any suggestions? - Ryan

Postgres support (Patch)

As I only run a Postgres server at home, I have been trying to get roundcube running on postgres. However, I am not a coder, so what would take most of you guys no time at all took me all day! But I think I'm getting somewhere. I've attached a patch which passes an extra argument into rcube_write_cache when it's been called from rcube_imap. All it does it makes sure the sess_id variable is set when it's trying to write the the cache, otherwise a foreign key constraint is violated. I guess we could have just got rid of the constraint, but it makes sense to leave them in to me. This is more just getting rid of error messages, but there was a lot of them, which is annoying. The patch is in CVS diff format, hope that's ok. Also, in the postgres SQL schema file, a column is missing in the contacts table. However when I generated a diff against it with my change, it erased the whole file and then wrote it all again (making for a large patch, well, compared to the one line change). I suspect it has something to do with line endings. The column definition is: changed timestamptz NOT NULL DEFAULT now(), Insert that at line 208. Getting the address book and settings working is next, but that will probably take me another 2 days to figure out! Any progress on a wiki? It'd make it much easier to ask questions. Also, has anyone considered adding documentation tags to the code? Something like PHPDoc, to make generating a class/method/variable list easier. - Jarl Nicolson

Large folders not displaying messages

Hello, I've recently setup Roundcube, and it feels great, fine work! I'm using BincIMAP and/or Dovecot (both which show the same problem). The problem being when I try to enter a folder in Roundcube with 2k+ messages it doesn't not show messages in the given folder. Sometimes leaving and reentering that folder will display a list of emails, but most of the time not. Running an strace on binc I see it reading the requested directory for files and parsing those files for details. Before it completes Roundcube returns with an empty "mailbox", and the "Loading" message disappears from the top of the browser. I noticed some AlohaMail IMAP code being used, and don't remember having this problem with that MUA, but that was quite a while ago, with a far different setup. Server: Roundcube (20051021), Linux 2.6, MySQL 5.0.15, BincIMAP 1.2.13final (Maildir++) on JFS (without Auth or SSL), Apache 2.0.55 w/PHP 5.0.4 Client: Windows XP, Firefox 1.5rc3 (though the problem is seen on Firefox 1.0.x, and IE 6) Any help would be appreciated, and let me know if you'd like any further details. Hi, I am not subscribed to the list so can responses please be copied to my address also.... I have setup an install of roundcube and all is good except one thing. my mail server is mail.3eyes.co.uk however email addresses are obviously not @mail.3eyes.co.uk This gives the result that when users log in for the first time an identity is created with the mail. prefix. Encrypted SMTP Access

Is there a way to use SSL/TLS encrypted connections to the SMTP server with roundcube? I tried setting up the smtp server in the same manner as the imap server (ssl://server:465) but this didn't work. I can understand if this isn't a high priority, but it would be nice to have around. Rob

Hi, first I have to say that i´m very impressed of this project! I was always discouraged by such big frameworks like horde or complicate installations (complicate for me...) and now you show all the people, that it´s possible to create such a nice and clean interface and just a 2-minutes-installation. Thank you! The problem: If i want to check out CVS with Tortoise, i have to type a password to login. On sourceforge project page is said that i have just to enter without typing a password, but that fails. Tortoise will break the connection to the cvs server after some recurrences... :( Is there someone who has had the same problem? Where is my mistake? Thank you in advance! Lutz

Remove attachments

There's a button (+) for adding attachments to a message to be sent, however, I've found no signs of a (-) for removing attachments in case I change my mind. Another thing, from the point-of-view of final users, is to have the option to write a new message from the 'reading message' window. attachment download does not work in IE throught SSL / HTTPS

I tried RoundCube webmail on HTTPS site, but M$ Internet Explorer can't download attachments. It's known problem of IE, so I can fix it quickly. In to file program/steps/mail/get.inc before line with if ($_GET['_download']) [about line 86] add the following code: if (isset($_SERVER['HTTPS'])) { // We need to set the following headers to make downloads work using IE in HTTPS mode. header('Pragma: '); header('Cache-Control: '); } You can find more about this issue in user comments http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.fpassthru.php But there are two things, which I don't understand: 1] Why is there condition `if ($_GET['_download'])` for sending download headers? I can't find when it is used. If I watch headers sent to the browser in case of attachment download, it always use `else` part sending Content-Disposition: inline. Also I can't find any link with _download in query string 2] Why are there files with .inc extension, which are not parsed by PHP interpreter by default (on many servers)? It can be potential security flaw. At last - webmail can't be used with safe_mode=On if messages are sent by built-in php funcion mail() with fifth parameter. But anyway - thanks for nice webmail! Hello guys, First of all, thank you for the great job so far! As I installed Roundcube yesterday in the company's server, I was forced to edit the source code and do: In the main.inc: .. <td>$fields[pass]</td> <input name="_host" value="127.0.0.1" type="hidden" /> </tr></table> $form_end .. That is, I forced it to use 127.0.0.1 as server, so my users won't have to type it everytime. I coulnd't find any config for that. ---------- In the sendmail.inc: .. // encoding settings for mail composing $message_param = array('text_encoding' => '7bit', 'html_encoding' => 'quoted-printable', 'head_encoding' => 'quoted-printable', 'head_charset' => 'ISO-8859-1', 'html_charset' => 'ISO-8859-1', 'text_charset' => 'ISO-8859-1'); That is, I changed UTF-8 and such to ISO-8859-1, because it was badly encoding pt_BR messages whenever there where: çáàéíóú... (using the default, it was eating letters after accented ones). So, perhaps there should be a config (main.inc.php) for those settings. Perhaps I shouldn't have changed that, but at least it is now working :) Now, one more thing... I couldn't find a EXPUNGE TRASH, for emptying my trash folder, otherwise messages in trash sit there forever (I don't use auto expunge in the server). sending mail hangs interface

hi all, wondering if anyone has had similar problems or has a solution. i installed latest version of RC. when sending email in either Safari or Firefox, i click the send button, the interface says "Loading..." until it times out. the message is sent, and copied to the "Sent" mailbox. however, from that point on I can't send any more messages (after i manually go back to the inbox again) as the send button stops responding. i'm having trouble finding a fix or even finding the root of the problem. something is getting stuck. any suggestions or inquiries welcome. gabe

5th parameter for mail() in safe_mode;

Hello everyone, I just subscribed today, and the only note regarding this issue I found so far was by David Fontaine on Fri Oct 21 2005. RoundCube fails to send mail if the safe_mode is active and the PHP mail() is used, because the 5th parameter is disabled in that case. I'd suggest to change the mail()-line in program/steps/mail/sendmail.inc to something like the following: if ((bool)ini_get('safe_mode')) { $headers_php['Errors-To'] = $from; $header_str = $MAIL_MIME->txtHeaders($headers_php); $sent = mail($mailto, $msg_subject, $msg_body, $header_str); } else { $sent = mail($mailto, $msg_subject, $msg_body, $header_str, "-f$from"); } Regarding to my sendmail man page -f is used to "Set the envelope sender address. This is the address where delivery problems are sent to, unless the message contains an Errors-To: message header." Since the envelope sender can not be set because of the safe_mode restriction, my version adds the "Errors-To:" header as the man page suggests. The Return-Path: in this case will usually be something like "www-data(a)www.example.com", but it shouldn't hurt that much anymore, since bounces should be returned to the Errors-To: address. Balu

Bug Report - Mail Sort Out of Order after first page when sorting by sender - interface behaves oddly.

If you sort the mail by sender, then select and move multiple messages to a different folder by drag and drop, when Roundcube moves messages from the second page onto the first page it moves them out of order. Additionally, clicking on the subject of one message (to select it) occassionally selects a different message entirely. These problems are always reproducible for me on Safari 1.3.1 and OS X 10.2. Additionally, there is an intermittent bug when the wierd selection condition occurs that none of the interface buttons work. The only thing it is possible to do from within the Roundcube interface is to open the message, and then you can refresh the client by clicking on the logo - but no other "clickable" areas work. I can reproduce this one occasionally, but it isn't reliable. Stephen

Hi list I've got a mail where the attachments are shown wrong. If i look in the source i can see that roundcube shows it exactly as the source. Here maybe no bug. The other part is that the message body is shown on the right of the attachment not below. I've attached a screenshot and the original mail source. Hello Users, I got the newst version of roundcubemail (roundcube_webmail_0.1-20051021) At first, great work. But the content of mails is not displayed. In the source the content is avaible and also if I made the row 56 of the show.inc script accessible ($MESSAGE['body'] = $IMAP->get_body($_GET['_uid']);). So I think the problem lies above in the row 51 especially in the function "rcmail_parse_message" but this was to much of reading source code for such a problem. Session times out when adding addressbook entries

Hi, Whenever someone adds an adddressbook entry, they loose the session and end up with a login screen in the box. I noticed the following: // add framed parameter if ($_framed) { $COMM_PATH .= '&_framed=1'; $SESS_HIDDEN_FIELD = "\n".'<input type="hidden" name="_framed" value="1" />'; } If I change the value to this, it solves the problem. $SESS_HIDDEN_FIELD = sprintf('<input type="hidden" name="_auth" value="%s" />', $sess_auth); I think the problem is that if it doesn't get the auth id when its framed, it can't look up the "changed" value correctly in the database for how long as elapsed and thinks the session has timed out. File attachments are not mime formatted correctly

Depending on the client reading the email, the attachments may or may not be useable. SquirrelMail doesn't like them. MS Outlook doesn't like them. Thunderbird seems to deal with them OK. RoundCube mail deals with them OK. The most recent email I sent with attachment from RoundCube, was trapped by my corporate SurfControl box with an 'invalid MIME format' error. Outlook also doesn't seem to recognize the MIME formatting. Not sure what could be wrong with the formatting, but it ought to be looked at any way. BTW: RoundCube is pretty impressive so far. Hi all. I have modified some files from the cvs. The modifications are for work with posgrsql database and eliminate some code that is not reachable. Example: swicht $variable case 1 return $some_value_1; break; (this break never read) just added the field "changed" to the table "contacts" in the posgresql creation script, modified the name of field "default" on table "identities" to "default_1", and correlatives in sql, supress an extra */ (comment delimiter) in the MDB2, correct a call to function insert_id without argument, insert some code for more verbosity in debug, etc.... the work is not all done, but I will ask to who I send the files to compare with those in the project and accept o reject these changes and waht I send, the whole project, only the diff.... I wanted to have the code working in postgresql without any error, but have in mind other changes like eliminate the sequences and replace them by the use of fields with the UNIQUE clause. is this interesting one? thanks in advance.

Folder highlighting

Forgive me if this has already been mentioned - I only joined the list today. I have a folder hierarchy on my IMAP server that has the following: Inbox -> Spam -> FalsePositives -> FalseNegatives There is currently 1 unread message in FalsePositives and when I am display the Inbox, the folder is highlighted in bold. However, if I select the Spam folder, the FalsePositives folder loses it's bold highlight (although it does still say there is 1 unread message). Also the Spam folder is highlighted when I am viewing the Inbox showing 2 unread messages, yet the folder is empty? Please forgive me if this isn't the correct place to report bugs - I couldn't see a different method on the website. I am currently using the latest release (not CVS) of roundcube webmail on Gentoo Linux with courier-imap over SSL. deletion failures

Hi guys, Nice work, I like the look and feel. I'm wondering if anyone else has had trouble deleting multipe messages? It seems that whenever I try to delete more than 5 or so simultaneously, RC just goes into lah-lah land without ever completing the deletions. It doesn't seem to matter if the emails in question are contiguous or randomly picked from the folder, only that above a certain number the deletions just never happen. Thanks for any insight and putting the time into the project. Matt P.S. If there's a way to turn on verbosity so I can check RC's behavior in the logs, let me know.
