WG: Login fails using RoundCube under IIS Web Server (Windows XP) with "HTTP 405"

It turns out that after manually changing the action field in the login template the list of messages shows up correctly. That is a great step at least. I think that if RoundCube should work with IIS all self-referencing forms must shall at least point to "index.php". But it would be better if it would point to the path provided via $_SERVER["PHP_SELF"]. So the code in clean php, the JavaScript scripts, the template parsing and the templates might need to be adjusted. Now after being logged in I'm unable to open any message or use any of the buttons. I think that the reason for that is the (in the view of IIS) "wrong" self-reference. Do you see a change to change that behavious so that every self-refernce uses the scripts real path - or at least that until there is a final solution that "index.php" is used instead of "./" ? Addition: IIS is configured to look for "index.php" automatically if only a reference to the directory is passed. Safe Mode and mail() function

Hello, I ran into some trouble when trying to make RoundCube work with the mail() function : when PHP is set to run in Safe Mode, the mail() function won't accept the 5th parameter. I think that this 5th parameter is not mandatory so I removed it (program/steps/mail/sendmail.inc, line 199) and it's now perfectly working. Before : $sent = mail($mailto, $msg_subject, $msg_body, $header_str, "-f$from"); Now : $sent = mail($mailto, $msg_subject, $msg_body, $header_str); I thought it could be helpful to someone so I wanted to tell the mailing list about that. Nightly build of RoundCube (0.1-20051021)

Hi everybody, There were many bug reports and discussions about problems with RoundCube posted in the last two weeks. Now we have fixed some of the most important bugs and can announce a new release. It does not include any new functions :-( but brings some visual enhancements with it. Support for Courier IMAP should now be better and RoundCube now 'really' supports SSL connections to IMAP servers. Then we moved the taskbar (many people could not live with it) to the upper right corner of the browser window. This may also solve some scrolling issues. Then we got some new translations in Swedish, Latvian, Portuguese and Brasilian which were added to the new release. Thanks to all the translators. Incorrect naming of INBOX with UW-IMAP

The root folder prefix is put at the start of the "INBOX" as well as at the start of all other folders, which is wrong. Our root folder prefix is "~/Mail/". It ends up creating a file ~/Mail/INBOX as well as the (correct) other folders called things like ~/Mail/Testing. It just needs a little extra test to not add the root folder prefix onto the INBOX. -Update- I just gave it a try on one of our test servers also running Debian Sarge, but this time I used dovecot IMAPd. With this set, everything runs smoothly. It solves BOTH issues. But I guess it is worth investigating why it doesn't work with Courier IMAP, as Courier is the widest spread IMAPd in use. There are some questions I have: 1) Does anybody have this release (20051007) up and running with Courier without those two problems mentioned below? If yes, what OS and what Courier version are you using and are you using Maildir-mailbox format? 2) Any experience with other IMAP servers so far? I think it is very important to be compatible to all major IMAP servers (Courier, Cyrus, UW and dovecot) although from my point of view _only_ dovecot and Courier should be used in production environment. But I guess that's just a matter of (good) taste ;-) P.S.: What I also realized when switching to dovecot is that the performance is far better than with Courier, which is probably because of the index "databases" used by dovecot for every mailbox / Maildir folder. New Roundcube Install

Hi, i just installed Roundcube on my mail server (FreeBSD 5.4, Apache 2.0.54, PHP 5.0.3, MySql 4.1, Qmail, vpopmail, yadda, yadda). Install worked like a champ. The UI is excellent - great use of Ajax for a rich client experience with a simple and (reasonably) intuitive UI. My only nit to pick is that, while RC renders great on IE and Firefox, in Safari, the subject runs over the sender if the subject line is long. (this is with the default column layout - subject, sender, date and size). Of course, Safari is a small percentage of the browsing public, but I thought I'd let you know. Thanks, Bryant Noice

Bug with Message list

BUG: (I wasn't sure the best place to send this.) I just upgraded to the 10/21 dev release... the upper-right corner of the email message list shows "Messages 1 to 40 of 74" with arrows on either side. I cannot click on those errors in Firefox 1.0.7. This means I can only see the first 40 messages in my inbox.

Configuration Request

Regarding the login page: I have a site which is now using roundcube. The actual IMAP server is housing several different domains for mail exchange (more technically I believe mail.domain.com <http://mail.domain.com> gets routed to one server, where 'domain' could be several domains). The problem this creates is that on the login screen it is necessary for users to specify which domain they have an account on. So, for my username, I would put in 'webadmin(a)domain.com' (assuming 'domain.com <http://domain.com>' is my domain of course), instead of just my username. Anybody using this particular roundcube interface is going to also be from 'domain.com<http://domain.com>' and thus, it becomes pointless to have to specify the domain each time. I suggest an option in the config file for automatically appending a string (in this case, my domain name) to the username that is put into the text box. This would be very helpful and perhaps might even act as a security measurement: only people from certain domains can login. I haven't had time to look into the code myself and it's been awhile since I've programmed PHP, but I would be willing to implement this and submit a patch file or something. It just might take awhile for me. Let me know what you think, and if it sounds like a valid feature to add, I'll join the mailing list and do what I can to help with the development of it. I figured out what the source of my javascript problem was, maybe soneone has this to, so I'll post the solution here. PROBLEM: Login in with firefox always fails with a javascript error. Error: missing ) after condition Source File: ../js/app.js Line: 2212, Column: 6 Source Code: this.request_obj = new NULL I fixed this one with adding activeX = window.ActiveXObject; in the first line of the this.http_request function (around line 2200 in app.js) and then changed else if (window.ActiveXObject) to: else if (activeX) a few lines later After that, roundcube-login worked well (With IE 6 && FF 1.0.7)! SOLUTION: At my office, I'm sittin behind a very strict firewall(proxyserver), which deletes all occurences of potentially dangerous things like "window.ActiveXObject" out of the source code. That's all. I you can implement my workaround as posted above, I and maybe others won't have any more troubles with tight proxies in the future. Out of memory with large mailbox

Hi! I just installed Roundcube to give it a try. However, it looks like it has problem with my inbox (around 8000 messages). Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 16777216 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 2049 bytes) in .../roundcubemail/program/lib/imap.inc on line 104 I first had some problems logging in to my IMAP server via SSL. However it now works using a non-SSL connection. Any ides? Cu, Gunnar

Inbox Refresh

A Bug: I have noticed that when I recieve a new email while logged into Roundcube occassionally the folder listing on the left will update to say that I have a new message, but will not display it in the message pane. An Idea: Is there any way to have Roundcube periodically check for new mail? Currently it doesn't seem to and that would be a most useful feature. ~Brian

Filter patch

Got playing around with message processing and the idea of using filter chains to handle the actions. The current system of having huge functions in ../mail/func.inc was a little bit overboard. The basic idea is to have a filter chain for different action types which can process message contents and yeild results. In an ideal world you would have lots of filters and people writting filters. At the moment I've implemented the following two: * header_address -- provide the link highlighter for send message (compatible functionality) * message_display -- address highlighting in text messages (compatible) -- security (not finished, remove script tags, etc.) -- hideImages (the "safe" mode for image display) -- link higlighting for plain text (compatible) -- quoting coloring (compatible) -- date higlighting (new) I thought I would float this out to the group for some feedback while I continue to plug along. The ultimate idea is to have something that when it sees an Address / Date can provide some hook functionality to pull up a Map/Calendar, etc. --koblas ps. Also sitting in this diff is a fix to only cache in the local mysql messages greater than a specific size, since for some larger messages mysql was barfing.

Translation of "special folders" in pull-down menu

Courier IMAP issues

What I could investigate so far is that there seems to be some major issues with IMAP handling with Courier IMAP. I already saw some people running into the same problems: 1) Not being able to view unread messages (I get 500 error on our server) which is a problem with the Courier IMAP version being delivered with Debian sarge and RC's IMAP handler class from my guess. 2) Also on my installation the default special IMAP folders like Sent, Trash, and Junk are not shown as "special" as they should be. I didn't find time to investigate neither first nor second issue any closer, but I hope I'll find the time beginning of next week. can't make it load

My server: FreeBSD, PHP5 and apache1.3. I installed roundcube following the instructions, created the database and it's tables. The login page works, but after I click "login" nothing happens (keeps loading). There is some data in the DB tables (users & session), but nothing happens. GMail-like "merge-mails-to-conversation"-feature?

Hi list, Google's GMail has a fantastic feature to merge different Mails to "conversations". This feature is extremly helpfull for mailinglists and other conversations. Hello All, This is my first time sending a message to this list, and I hope to become more involved in the development of RoundCube. It is really an awesome client. My name is Mark Roy, and I am a 3rd year Computer Engineering student from the University of Manitoba (Canada). I was actually looking to start a project like this but never had the time. I would love to use this as an opportunity to contribute to the open source community. Anywho, one thing that was absolutely bugging the hell out of me was the fact that when you reply to a message that already has "Re: " in the subject, it would add it in again. Really simple fix, just changed line 406 of program/steps/mail/compose.inc from this: $subject = 'Re: '.$REPLY_MESSAGE['subject']; to this: $subject = ((!preg_match('/^re:/i',$REPLY_MESSAGE['subject']))?'Re: ':'').$REPLY_MESSAGE['subject'];

Javascript-Error and timeout Problem

Hi everybody! Heard a lot of good stuff about your project, so I decided to give it a try. I saw 2 major problems, they don't appear wheter on this mailling list nor on the Bugtracker at sourceforge. I know it's still in alpha, but as there are many people out there without these problems, I d'like to know if I am really the only one having this problem. Problem with SMTP authentication

Sorry, I'm new, and couldn't find a past list to look this up. I am having a problem with SMTP auth, communicating with a QMail server. I know it works through Thunderbird, Outlook and OS X mail. Is this a known issue, or am I missing something. I know this is not very descriptive but: SMTP Error in /opt/www/roundcubemail/program/steps/mail/sendmail.inc (178): SMTP error: authentication failure Thanks for any insight.

I am getting the following error after the installation of RoundCube Webmail 0.1_20051007. This is my first installation. postgresql problem

Hi, When i perform the command psql -e RoundCube < roundcube/SQL/postgres.initial.sql it gives lots of errors as ALTER TABLE ONLY public.identities DROP CONSTRAINT "$1"; ERROR: relation "public.identities" does not exist probably it hasn't yet created the identities table. But the second time i preform the same command, it passes these ALTER lines cause in the first command it created the tables. Suggestions, best way to submit patches?

Best webmail project i've seen in a long time. RoundCube has a lot of potential. After first installing it and using it for a couple hours here are my thoughts. (Some of which I would like to help code if no one gets to them before me, but due to my schedule right now it will be a month or 2 before i have time) 1) Ditch the "server" option on the login screen, or at least make it configurable. I don't want people that use my server for mail to have to enter it. A drop down list would be ideal, if we could provide an array in the main config file of servers that are allowed. Though I would be happy with only being able to specify one login server as well. 2) Make the folder list the only thing that scrolls. Fix position the iframes on the right. With very long folder lists (i have well over 800 mail folders) its annoying to have to scroll up and down constantly to see new messages then all the way back down to go the the next folder with mail. 3) Collapse the folders in the folder list, when there are nested folders. Example: inbox folder1 --subfolder1.1 --subfolder1.2 folder2 --subfolder2.1 --subfolder2.2 ----sub.subfolder2.2.1 ----sub.subfolder2.2.2 would become: inbox + folder1 + folder2 Obviously, it should be able to handle all levels of nesting, but by default, when you log in all folders should be collapsed. The hard part looks like it is already done. If you select a top- level folder now it highlights (via a gray bar) all the branches of that node. 4) If there is unread mail in nested folders, it should show that on the root level folder when nested folders are collapsed. Example: Using the above folder-nesting example. Lets assume there is 2 messages in sub.subfolder2.2.1 and 1 message in subfolder2.1. Collapsed it might look notify you that you have 3 new messages like this: inbox + folder1 + folder2 (3) And, obviously that would continue for all levels of nesting: inbox + folder1 folder2 --subfolder2.1 (1) +subfolder2.2 (2) 5) Lastly, signatures. Each account that you should be able to define a signature for each identity .. What's the best way to submit patches to the project? I probably won't have time to seriously look into coding some of these features until late november, but if no one else gets to the first i'd like to submit some patches. RoundCube eats up IMAP connections?

I haven't had a chance to track this down yet but thought I should ask if anyone else is seeing something similiarly. It seems like RoundCube is leaving IMAP connections hanging. I haven't had a problem with SquirrelMail, but using RoundCube appears to eat up the connection pool preventing further connections until restart/timeout. When I can find the time I plan on going over the logs. I'm using Courier-Imap. ~Rob

I have all my folders coming off of my INBOX. INBOX INBOX.Sent INBOX.Spam INBOX.Drafts etc. I have the main.inc.php as follows: // only list folders within this path $rcmail_config['imap_root'] = ''; // store sent message is this mailbox // leave blank if sent messages should not be stored $rcmail_config['sent_mbox'] = 'INBOX.Sent'; // move messages to this folder when deleting them // leave blank if they should be deleted directly $rcmail_config['trash_mbox'] = 'INBOX.Trash'; // display these folders separately in the mailbox list $rcmail_config['default_imap_folders'] = array('INBOX', 'INBOX.Drafts', 'INBOX.Sent', 'INBOX.Spam', 'INBOX.Trash'); However, the icons don't appear for the Trash, Sent, etc. If I put INBOX as "only list foloders within this path" it shows up, but I will have no INBOX. A layout quirk

I belive this is a layout quirk. When editing, forwarding or replying to the message, the folder listing from the right disappears and gets replaced with the file attachment form. If one decides not to send the message and just jump to another folder, it requires 2 clicks. The appropriate way to do this would be to keep the folder listing where it always is and when someone tries to leave the message editing view, present a prompt to either send a message or save it in drafts. Small Feature Suggestions

These are a just a few small requests that I feel would improve the overall roundcube user experience. I understand you guys are very busy working on core functionality, and don't expect these changes anytime soon (assuming you agree with them), but figured they should be recorded somewhere for future consideration. 1) When you are reading an email message, could it be in a scroll-box like your inbox, instead of the whole webpage scrolling? I think it looks better, is more consistant, and keeps the menus in view. 2) This is just something I noticed today. When selecting emails in the inbox, shift select individual emails, and control does nothing. I know that personally, I'm used to cntl selecting individual emails, and then shift selecting all the emails between the two clicks. Just something to consider. 3) When adding attachments, instead of selecting it in the browser window and then having to hit upload, could it just automatically upload the attachment after selecting it? The extra step seems uncessesary. 4) This is more from a server admin point of view. Is there a setting for the cookie duration? I have noticed that my roundcube login persists for hours, and in an enviroment with public computers, this could be dangerous. It would be nice if we could set this to a 30 minute timeout or something more standard along those lines. 5) When the session does time out, the first time I try to access the email it keeps me in my inbox, and just dislpays the dialog up top with the "session timed out" message. Then, when I try to view a message again, it kicks me out to the login screen. Could this be adjusted so that it just kicks you strait to the login screen when your login has timed out? Rob

SSL Connection Bug Found

I believe I found the bug with SSL connections to the IMAP server in v0.1-20051007. On line 77 in rcube_imap.inc: global $ICL_PORT, $CONFIG; needs to be changed to: global $ICL_SSL, $ICL_PORT, $CONFIG; $ICL_SSL was not declared global in the the connect funciton, so that the iil_Connect method would see ICL_SSL as being empty, and never use SSL encryption (somewhere along the line, this would cause an issue and roundcube would never actually connect to the imap server at all). Changing that line caused it to work for me. Rob

Hi, I'm trying to use RoundCube with UW-IMAP but am having a login problem that I can't seem to pin down. I've set the debug level to 8 but nothing more appears in the error logs than whatever the default was. This is all I'm seeing in my mail logs after a 'Login failed' from the UI: Oct 17 10:58:23 mail imapd[30822]: imap service init from 192.168.1.114 Oct 17 10:58:26 mail imapd[30822]: Command stream end of file, while reading line user=gary host=mail [192.168.1.114] Any suggestions? Ok, so our company hosts several domains on one server. When implementing a software such as roundcube, we like to have one central install that eases the pains fo configuring and maintaining. Each domain hosted simply references the central install via sym-links. Anyways, whether that makes sense or not, I wanted to setup a way that the login screen would figure out the mail server domain name without me having to manually set it in a config file or the user inputting it at each login. So, I basically switched out line 33 of main.inc.php with this line: $rcmail_config['default_host'] = 'mail.' . '' . str_replace("www.", "", $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST']); Basically, it takes the address in the address bar, removes the "www." and adds "mail." to the beginning of the domain name. Ex) www.yourname.com to yourname.com to mail.yourname.com I am sure this all seems very basic and straight forward to the more seasoned programmer, but I was excited about getting it to work. 20051007 not logging in

Greetings! I apologize in advance if this has been discussed on the list already, there are no archives to check with and I just joined. I have installed roundcube and tried using it to access 2 different imap-ssl servers (ssl only, port 993) and neither of them would log in. The roundcube client would sit at the login prompt and eventually the browser would timeout. I tried this on a different web server and got the same results. Both web servers are Gentoo Linux with php 4.4.0. There is nothing in the logs (web logs or roundcube logs) and the imap servers do not even see the initial connection. Any thoughts? I just tried it with IE6.. same result... Deleted messages will reappear if you click on Inbox for example. I think it would be beneficial to most people to be able to do this: cd /var/www/your/document/root tar zxvf roundcube_webmail_version#.tar.gz and have it untar to the directory 'roundcubemail_version#' instead of just untarring to 'roundcubemail'.
