Backgrounds and background color are held within the common.css %s/mail.css/common.css/ if you are looking to modify the background and tables etc... This will change text and list box behaviours. I'd be interested to know if this is fixed in the CVS version already, but I've discovered the problem that I was having with my RoundCube installation (I'm using Courier IMAP, btw). I haven't looked in to why, but the problem is in the set_flag method in rcube_imap. Basically, it looks as though the method for setting a flag is causing Courier (and thus RoundCube) to freeze. I removed the content and did a "return true" and I can now read emails without a problem - but they obviously always show as unread ;) Hope that's of use to someone. Courier support?

Hi, I've installed RoundCube, and works ok, except by the fact it doesn't show the body of the emails. I suspect it can be a problem with the Courier-IMAP server. Actually, the theme and plugin API are seperate. The plugin API, i think, just provides hooks for plugins to execute their functions throughout their programs. The theme api basically consists of xml template tags inbetween xhtml, so I don't think that the plugin api will affect the themes. IMAP-UW - Problems with plaintext login

Are there any know issues with imap-uw? When I attempt to log in I see in my maillog: Oct 14 12:25:59 firewall imapd[60509]: Login user=mikej host=firewall.mikej.com [10.0.0.3] Oct 14 12:25:59 firewall imapd[60509]: Logout user=mikej host=firewall.mikej.com [10.0.0.3] Which tells me that authentication successed... but RoundCube displays "login denied". Select - All / Delete

Hey I notice... I think this should be the first thing they make to add to it since this is pretty important to some people who are hosting email accts on limited spaces. Seems that it might be benefitcal for them to add a select all / or delete all function to the trash can or folder since the typcial user just tends to hit the delete button which lands it in the trash then in order to delete the all from the trash can they'd have to select these emails 1 by 1 in the trash can and hit the delete button then select the next email.... hehe just a lil bug i guess... But still I would like to see this webmail package grow! Is there already a delete all function in this webmail package that I missed?? Cheers! Jason

setup/login problems....

i'm a brand new user so bear with me please. i just downlaoded and "installed" roundcube, epr teh directions in the INSTALL file. however, when i go to login, the page just sits there, attempting to load and never does. (i click "login", in the status bar it says contacting whatever.host.com, and just sits there). roundcube is running on the same box as the mailserver/imap (which is psotfix/dovecot if it makes a diffrence). i connect normally with ssl, so in the config file i have : ssl://localhost:993 for teh default host. am i missing anything? are there any apache config changes i should have to make? i am testing this from an OSX box runnign safari right now, but the same happened last night with firefox on linux, so i doubt its that. thanks. matt nicholson sjoeboo(a)sjoeboo.com

displaying imap errors

hi all- just found this project on freshmeat and thought i'd give it a go since SquirrelMail is starting to look a bit dated ( tho it works like a charm ). wasn't sure how to search the list archives, so apologies if this has been covered, but can i connect to my IMAP server via STARTTLS? Large Install

How well suited is RoundCube to an install w/ about 700,000 mailboxes on Courier-IMAP. The load will be somewhere between 800 and 2500 users at any given time using the system (150-350 views/s on apache, 200qps on mysql avg). SquirrelMail is the current client, pretty light and fast, and it's IMAP routines are amazing when you have high load. I know RC uses IlohaMail as its IMAP provider, but when we tried Iloha it did not perform well under load. Has anybody attempted such a large setup with RoundCube before? I'm shopping around for a new webmail client due to the nearly unskinnable nature of SquirrelMail. The users keep blabbering about making webmail look nice, or something crazy like that. -- Christopher A. Hi !! just looking at _list_headers i noticed that deleted headers are also cached, is there any reason for that ? Also problems related to users having lots of emails in the inbox folder cause big problems, just about 1000 messages in a user inbox causes that the login process lasts forever. If in safe_mode and execution time and memory usage are limited users with big inbox are totally unable to login. Fixed it, the username had been truncated when i created the database user, and i hadnt realised.. the error wasnt very clear, maybe this was the Pear::DB? Normaly i'd expect: Access Denied for user@localhost. (Using Password YES) or something to that effect.. anyway.. its now running fine afaik... but when i try to login to a mail server it doesnt work.. http://www.ircsucks.com/mail (testing(a)ircsucks.com | password | mail.ircsucks.com OR localhost) When i use the same server info that roundcube is on it goes wierd but still errors: Warning: fopen(./logs/errors): failed to open stream: Keine Berechtigung in /home/ircsucks/public_html/mail/program/include/bugs.inc on line 67 IMAP Error in (): Authentication failed (LOGIN): "a001 NO LOGIN failed" wth? Hope somebody can help :) Thanks Michael PS: I'm very interested in getting this working under cPanel (www.cpanel.net) cPanel uses http auth to send the vars to the script, (they currently use squirrelmail/horde/neomail) and IMO they all suck :P ... if i could actually get this to work, perhaps i can use the lil php knowledge i have to help get it working with cPanel?

Hi! I just installed RoundCube and everything seems to work fine except for two things: 1. I use bincimap as my imap server with the maildir++ depot (same as courier-imap), which stores all the users folders in the INBOX. If I leave imap_root empty in the config (as is the default) all the folders are shown as being under the INBOX, but the Sent, Drafts and Trash folders are not assigned icons. If I change imap_root to "INBOX/" the folders are shown with correct icons but the Inbox disappears from the list and cannot be selected! 2. I use qmail with vmailmgr as my MTA. I can login fine with virtual users, but local users seem to generate some kind of loop and I cannot login, it just loads forever. If I check my imap servers logs it shows that the authentification was successful, RoundCubes logs show no errors and neither do the apache-logs. I also have SquirrelMail installed and it works flawlessly as do stand-alone clients like Mozilla Thunderbird. I realise that RoundCube is still in its infancy but the project looks very promising already! Alas I'm not a programmer, so I cannot contribute to the project (except with bug-reports ;). Timedouts with Large and Numerous IMAP Folders

Hello guys, I've got RC installed and running well. This machine is Mandriva 2005 if it matters, (LAMP). Qmail, courier-imap, apache, MySQL, PHP4. When I try loggin in with user accounts which has only a few IMAP folders and generally contain very little < 50 mails, there are no problems. However, if I were to login with a user account with many IMAP folders which also contain numerous mails > 1000, the login would time out, resulting in a "zero-sized reply" error. I believe that the time out is due to the fact that imapd (courier) has not completed its task of listing mails or something within 30 seconds. A side note, squirrelmail doesn't time out with this account even though it lists the number of unread mails (> 10000) in each folder (> 20 folders). As such, are there any plans to or ideas (other than deleting mails) to solve or work around this problem (where imapd takes quite some time in listing mailfolders)? I'll be more than willing to provide further information if necessary. Thanks. using RoundCube with PostgreSQL

Hi list, I've just started playing with RoundCube, looks great so far..! I can't see a list archive, so maybe some of this has already been discussed, but I'm seeing some issues using RoundCube with a pgsql database: Some of the queries use backticks to quote column names - pgsql uses double quotes. Given that "default" is a bit of a tricky name to use for a column, is it worth renaming it, rather than doing lots of tricky code to make sure the quotes are right for the database? The same probably goes for column names like "language" and "reply-to". My install of PostgreSQL (v8.0.1) doesn't have a function named unix_timestamp(). I hacked one up as: CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION unix_timestamp(TIMESTAMP WITH TIME ZONE) RETURNS INTEGER AS ' BEGIN RETURN round(EXTRACT( EPOCH FROM $1 )); END; ' LANGUAGE 'plpgsql'; I get errors if I leave caching enabled - I've just turned it off for now, but I'm guessing that the serialised data contains something that pgsql doesn't like. Amongst the spam and assorted junk that is my inbox, I have a message with no Date header. RoundCube generated errors for that too. PHP 5.0.4 Apache 2 The function "function rcube_xml_command($command, $str_attrib, $a_attrib=NULL)" is not working correctly on php 5. It never orders any of the matches in $str_attrib. For example, at one point $str_attrib is [file="/includes/header.html" /], this never produces a result in $regs. Now, I am no expert but I do not think this is working properly. Help..With setting up Roundcube.....Permission Issues??? / Where???

Hello! I'm having issues with the webmail, I want to know if it's some permission related issue. The buttons in the mail interface like Send / Compose / Delete / etc... will not excute or anything. So I'm thinking it is Permission related just like with the images not showing which I fixed by setting the permissions correctly... Now I'm trying to figure out where excatly these buttons are located in the webpackage so I can set permissions on these folders. Hello, Like many of other people, I found this today, installed without any hassle, and just worked great with BincIMAP's IMAPdir. Thanks a lot for your great work! Now, my question is, do you have any plan to go with UTF-8 soon? L10N shouldn't be primary issue but I18N. People can somehow live without L10N as long as it works. But it will never work for some people without I18N. For instance, I don't care the language of UI but roundcube doesn't handle Japanese in subject and body properly at all. If it would use UTF-8 rather than any of SBCS, it would be very easy to hack and contribute so that many languages could be easily supported by people around world, I supposed :-) Thanks, -- Hiroshima

MySQL folder caching

Something that is worth mentioning in the documentation is that MySQL is configured on many machines to default to a maximum query size (max_allowed_packet) of 1M. With approximately 1600 messages in my inbox, the attempt to generate a cache of the INBOX folder (a 1.2 MB query) threw unknown errors: DB Error: unknown error in /www/roundcubemail/program/include/rcube_db.inc on line 124 The resolution is simple enough: In the [mysqld] section of my.cnf, change the max_allowed_packet to a larger value: set-variable = max_allowed_packet=16M cheers, Shaun Walbridge

I am trying to set up roundcube. Everything seems to go well until I try and login. I am using secure imap (port 993). When I do what the config file says (i.e. ssl://localhost:993). I try and login through the web interface and it hangs forever. I know the username and password I am using works, because I am using through thunderbird. Is anyone else having this problem? mysql install problems continue

Previously I had the following issue: I have created a mysql database named xyz and a user named xyz_user so what exactly should this line be in db.inc.php? $rcmail_config['mysql'] = 'mysql://xyz_user@localhost/xyz'; That doesn't seem to work for some reason. I keep getting the following errors: *DB Error in /home/xyz/public_html/roundmail/program/include/rcube_db.inc (63):* DB Error: not found *Fatal error*: Call to undefined function: query() in */home/xyz/public_html/roundmail/program/include/rcube_db.inc* on line *119 Now it looks like the problem was with not having pear set up. Since I am on a shared server I had to install PEAR in my home folder. I did that successfully, I think, but now I get the following error. *Fatal error*: Cannot redeclare class db in */usr/lib/php/DB.php* on line *271* I added this to index.php but I don't think that's working out. ini_set("include_path", 'public_html/pear/PEAR/' . PATH_SEPARATOR . ini_get("include_path")); require_once '/home/xyz/public_html/pear/PEAR/DB.php'; Any more ideas from anyone? This is a really slick app. I can't wait for it to work. Mike

Hi all, My apologies if this has been answered already; I was looking for a search function for this mailing list, to no avail. Running RH8. I've just installed rcube and I can't log in. Every attempt yields "Login Failed". The imap server is running fine (I can use other clients without problem). I'm wondering about this host setting: $rcmail_config['default_host'] = ''; I've tried entering my server's hostname, and "localhost", but the result is the same. My maillog log shows that a login attempt is made, but that's it. Can anyone give me a pointer for other things to consider in troubleshooting this problem? Thanks! Aaron.

Maybe the time has come for forums

Ok guys, don't kill me. I know this topic has been beaten to death, even today, but I think we all need to appreciate that the slashdot affect has changed things a bit. I know the developers are not in favor of it, but there are two things to consider: 1. There are no searchable archives. As I said last week, we will eventually get 20 users asking the same questions with no chance for shared knowledge. As much as you may like mailing lists....this will annoy you. 2. Slashdot, in my opinion, has effectively put us on the map. While a lot of that is good, another angle is not so good. Ergo, the volume of mails on this list may in fact, increase...dramatically. For the community, that's great. But, I don't know about you guys, a mailing list is great if I'm getting 10-15 mails a day thats fairly topical and of interest. How many mails a day are we getting now? 20? 30? How about when a trade mag like The Register writes a story? Or Wired? Or Jeffrey Veen? Once we get on the blog rolls, the community will grow quite rapidly. I know that we as a group, discussed this last week. But I would urge everyone to consider what an increase in exposure will do. We really need forums, I'm sorry but wiki's are great for documentation, but crap for general support. Users, like asking questions. I know I do. I think we need forums, but on the developers terms. ie something in an environment the team supports/controls. Something that is secure, and something that is easy to maintain. Someone made some alternate suggestions to phpbb that deserves a look. One of them was called vanilla (http://getvanilla.com) which looks promissing. Any thoughts? Geoffrey

When testing it, I can't login. My DB line looks like: $rcmail_config['db_dsnw'] = 'mysql://user:pass@localhost/roundcube'; // sqlite example: 'sqlite://./sqlite.db?mode=0646'; // PEAR database DSN for read only operations (if empty write database will be used) // userful for database replication $rcmail_config['db_dsnr'] = ''; And I get this error: DB Error in /var/www/reflex8.com/roundcubemail/program/include/ rcube_db.inc (63): DB Error: not found Fatal error: Call to undefined method DB_Error::query() in /var/www/ reflex8.com/roundcubemail/program/include/rcube_db.inc on line 119 Any ideas?

I have created a mysql database named xyz and a user named xyz_user so what exactly should this line be in db.inc.php? $rcmail_config['mysql'] = 'mysql://xyz_user@localhost/xyz'; That doesn't seem to work for some reason.
