Larry: improved attachment preview page?

While I work on a new plugin for files management. I found that we could improve our current attachment preview page. I'm attaching a screenshot from my plugin. I'd like to make attachment preview page to look the same, i.e. attachment properties on the left and toolbar with buttons (Download for now, but we could add other e.g. Print, Save, Edit). What do you think? An opposite layout would be to make it more looking as message preview page with properties on top and small buttons in right-top corner (and no toolbar). Address book display bug when email type is "main" [0.9.2]

One of my customers did an Outlook export / Roundcube import of his contacts, and none of the contacts were displaying their email address in the address book's vcard section. In the database, all of his contacts had been saved with, "EMAIL;TYPE=INTERNET;TYPE=MAIN:address@host.com". My contacts for example are, "EMAIL;TYPE=INTERNET;TYPE=OTHER:address@host.com". Changing TYPE=OTHER to TYPE=MAIN in one of my contacts caused that one to also not display correctly. Roundcube 0.9.3 - iframes scrollbars

I'm testing with Chrome 29.0.1547.57 m. I get an unnecessary scrollbars for all iframes (preview pane, settings iframe) - Larry skin. I have fixed it by including on global level some js stuff: // iframes $('iframe').height('99%'); NOTE: It happens without any plugins active. By default iframes have the following css properties: element.style { width: 100%; height: 100%; } It looks like height 100% is causing the issue. Anyone else with such issues? I run a hosting company, for the last 9 years we have been using squirrel mail (squirrely mail is the name our help desk have given it). Strange link, not fully being recognized as a link in plain text messages

Yesterday, somebody sent me that link in a plain text message: https://rapidshare.com/#!download|856p1|2938527513|EngNewsBlinkfeedPatch.zi… Roundcube doesn't fully recognize that as a link (only until "download"). Default and Special folder config options

Hi, In the config file there are options to set the special folders: drafts_mbox, sent_mbox, junk_mbox, trash_mbox and also to set the default_folders (the ones that can be protected on the folder management screen). On the preferences screen in the UI in the special folders section a user can override the special folder settings but this overrides both the special folders and the default folders. On my system I am using a plugin to get the default and speical folder information from the server when the user logs in (my IMAP supports the special-use extension). I would to separate the special folder and default folder config options in the UI so that a use is able to setup their own speical folders without changing the default folders setting. I realise I could do this with a plugin but it seemed a little odd to me that a user is able to change what folders are protected - if an admin wants to protect some folders then users should not be able to get around that. "Edit as new" creates strange (partially) HTML formatted messages

Interestingly, other 8bit chars such as German Umlauts keep untouched, which is somewhat unlogical. Reg. "squirrelmail_usercopy" plugin

Hi all, Am currently in a process of migrating "squirrelmail address books" to roundcube. I have found one plugin named "squirrelmail_usercopy" in plugin repository. [updated version] I have installed , configured and enabled the plugin in configuration file. The error log is not revealing any errors (like dbconn failure,etc) but the plugin is not working (I mean, the address books in squirrelmail is automatically migrated to RC). Is anyone experiencing the same problem ? P.S : I have tried the solutions regarding the rc api file and am sure the plugin is configured correctly. -- Regards, Vivek Vetri " Taking Risk ! Invalid or Expired Session

We've had sporadic reports of expired or invalid sessions from users. They'll have a roundcube page open, possibly other tabs, too, then click on compose or on an email message and be presented with a login screen that says the session is invalid or expired. We're thinking it's possibly related to js getting stalled or the keep_alive not being run due to the page being 'busy' for any other reason, but reproducing the behavior, let alone diagnosing it, has been difficult. Our sessions are in mysql and have a length of 10min, keep_alive runs every 60s. Has anyone else had reports like this?

Configuration changes in git master

Hello devs With today's commit [1] we took the first step towards a new and simplified configuration for Roundcube. We merged the two files main.inc.php and db.inc.php into one single config.inc.php file and a defaults.inc.php file respectively. The config.inc.php is meant to be the local config file and only containing those options which differ from the defaults. The defaults.inc.php will be part of the distribution is will be updated with every software update and thus should not be modified. The current git master will remain using the old config files as a fallback but we strongly recommend to upgrade your configs if you're running a bleeding edge git master version somewhere. You can do this by running bin/update.sh and letting the script migrate your config. The manual way of doing this is to copy config.inc.php.sample file and start from scratch. There's more to come related to configs [2] but this was the major change that just found its way back into git master. RC in iframe: print, download, show source and open in new window button don't work properly.

Hello, I have roundcube embbeded in an iframe and I would like to have all the functionnalities working properly. Currently, the "print", "download", "show source" and "open in new window" buttons don't work properly in the iframe. They work properly in direct access. How can I adjust that ? Ideally, both (message list header as well as message header) should stay on top upon scrolling - and of course in both skins, IMO. I'd still love to kill the folks who invented Larry... ;-) Seriously: It's unfortunate that the Classic skin doesn't get the same attention by the devs anymore as the Larry skin. The identities_list hook

Hello Folks, I have a question regarding the identities_list hook. I would like to replace the full list of identities by my own using a plugin. It seems to me the identities_list hook is only used for display, as the original identities from the database are added. Is this just an oversight, or is it supposed to be that way? I would like to propose to make use of the identities_list hook more often. The ideal solution would be to query the plugin hook in rcube_user.php's list_identities, returning the plugin defined list of identities everywhere. The only downside is that the current caller in program/steps/settings/func.inc will have to query the plugin twice, once directly to get the array of columns and once indirectly via rcube_user.php. I'm happy to provide the patch myself, I would just like to ask here before I send a PR. Alternatively, is there another way to intercept the identities and user management? We would like to use our own user management backend. Philipp

merge sessions between owncloud and roundcube

Hello, I have an owncloud and a roundcube sharing the same session pool via a memcache server and I would like them to work with an unique session. I changed the cookie session.name to have the same for owncloud and roundcube and I tried a lot of tricks: to pass the session id then the session name via url, to change the $_SESSION['user_id' in roundcube because owncloud has the same variable, to avoid the cookie creation in the session_init from roundcube, etc... But, the roundcube session always erase the owncloud one which causes owncloud not to login anymore. What is the trick ? Is there a method somewhere to do that ? Thanks. In git-master, the folders tab is not accessible anymore (no matter which user is logged in). FF does display a blank page (as a FF user is telling me), IE8 is throwing a HTTP 500 along with a message that the page can't be displayed (see attached). I assume it has to do with the change quoted below. In 0.9.2, all is still working fine. I need to cover some quite special scenarios here in terms of identity selection, and therefore wanted first to understand the current logic how an identity is being selected (in order to implement a correct and working patch later on). But apparently that doesn't make any difference at all, as when replying to these messages, the identity "identity1(a)test.de" is being used as the sender in the "From:" header in both cases. Hmm...?!? This logic escapes me and makes my life more difficult, as this behaviour is telling me that the order (of both the same headers in the same message!) doesn't make any difference. Is the choice being taken because of the alphabetical order of the sender addresses (so that "identity1(a)test.de" is preceding "identity2(a)test.de")? At this point I stopped testing, and my next question is: As I'm able to create any custom header right before delivery, how can I make sure that this - and only this - custom header will be respected with regards to identity selection, disregarding any other headers/addresses and the entire rest of the logic...? This would be a private patch, of course. Any help and hint appreciated, for I'm a noob in terms of PHP (= I have an idea of the logic, but just can't code it). Received a multipart/alternative message today, produced with Roundcube 0.9.2 stable (first part text/plain, second part text/html), where the quote chars ">" in the HTML part were not recognized as quote chars upon displaying in RC 1.0-git. Currently Roundcube uses "Envelope-To:" and "Delivered-To:" for identity selection (besides "To:" and probably other standard headers). After we recently moved from a dedicated server to a managed server at df.eu (domainfactory), all messages do not have a header "Envelope-To:" anymore, but a header "X-Envelope-To:" instead. This often leads to a wrong identity selection (e.g. always when replying to the Roundcube lists). May I kindly request to support the header "X-Envelope-To:" as well? Roundcube and Accessibility

Hello, I have recently had reason to look at Roundcube's accessibility support, particularly for blind and visually impaired users who might consider using Roundcube with a screen reader. I am not in this audience, but I have been attempting to make myself more aware of projects, initiatives and specifications particularly related to Web development and accessibility. It has not escaped my attention that Roundcube is often deployed alongside other solutions, typically to offer users the choice of webmail client where Roundcube is perhaps regarded as the most "desktop-like", and other clients such as Horde and SquirrelMail are regarded as being less fancy. Some examples: https://calmail.berkeley.edu/ http://www.cms.hu-berlin.de/dl/kommunikation/email/webmail It did make me wonder whether the less "fancy" alternatives are being used because they offer a more accessible experience to screen reader users. As part of an evaluation of Kolab and Roundcube, I have been taking a look at the Roundcube interface in conjunction with accessibility tools such as Fangs [1], Orca [2] and Read2Me [3], also looking at the consensus around accessible Web application design. I also searched the mailing lists for discussion around accessibility issues with Roundcube, but found only the following things: http://trac.roundcube.net/ticket/1484257 http://trac.roundcube.net/ticket/1487041 It has been difficult to find much discussion in the last five years on the topic, and so I'm hoping to get some opinions on this matter now to see if anything needs doing and could be done fairly easily to improve Roundcube in this respect. To get started, I have been looking at what Fangs produces for the Roundcube calendar plugin provided with a full Kolab installation, trying to identify basic properties of the interface that could be enhanced to offer a potentially more navigable and accessible experience. According to various Web accessibility guides, exposing headings, page structure and links are all things that help people with screen readers. Roundcube uses headings quite successfully already, for example, although I haven't yet been able to assess how this translates to an improved screen reader experience. (My intention is to evaluate the experience with Orca and to try and devise concrete suggestions for improvements.) Another topic that has become prominent in recent times is that of the WAI-ARIA specifications/technologies. It appears that jQuery annotates elements in the DOM with ARIA attributes, but I haven't really investigated the specific Roundcube support for ARIA. It would be interesting to hear perspectives on such technologies from members of this list. At the moment, I'm really just testing the waters for the potential to improve Roundcube in this way. I'm not a major PHP/JavaScript developer, and the realm of Web accessibility is also rather new to me (in depth), but I'd like to know if developers on this list perceive any shortcomings of Roundcube in this regard and whether there might be convenient ways to make it better. Roundcube Popups (IE9)

Scenario: Popups are blocked in IE9. Double clicking on a message opens the message in a new popup window without any warning fom IE9. Pressing Enter on the same message does not open the message, but brings up a warning message of IE9, that Popups are blocked. Is this different behaviour a Roundcube or an IE9 issue? Arne, uh, I must admit that this standard (?) with three sig dashes (without WSP) for top-posted replies is totally new to me, thanks for the input. Is this documented somewhere (RFCs)...? And what's the sense of and reason for it? My default setting is indeed top-posting, because most people I'm in touch with, are unfortunately not familiar with inline quoting. The problem is, that, depending on the person I'm replying to, I do not always use top-posting. In those cases I'm moving the the sig to the bottom of the mail. This would lead to a sig with three dashes at the bottom, so I would have to remove one of them manually, whenever I'm moving a sig to the bottom. Not very convenient... So I think it's better to include a two-dashes-separator in the sig (as I had it before) and always use this one, no matter if top or bottom. Fortunately, RC doesn't touch this, when being part of the sig. But as we speak, I'd like to emphasize again my proposal to have an option in the addressbook, in which way I want to reply to this particular person. create folders from mail view

Hi, I have been looking into adding an option for quick folder creation from the mail view. Something like adding a "create folder" option to the contextmenu plugin. I think I remember some talk about this a little while ago but I cannot find anything on the list. I think the UI would be similar to the one used for adding groups in the addressbook. At the moment the folder creation functions are heavily linked into the folders settings page - sending AJAX requests to refresh it etc every time. My idea is to move the code to create and update folders into separate functions and then call those functions in save_folder.inc but also if would allow other things like plugins to reuse the code. Is this something that is interesting to people and more importantly acceptable to the devs? Thanks, Phil

Small glitch with Settings/Preferences/User_Interface/Refresh

We just moved from a dedicated server to a managed server at df.eu (domainfactory) and therefore had to freshly create all our users on the new system. Checking the config defaults of these users after first login, the "Refresh" setting under Preferences/User_Interface was by default set to "never". When this setting is manually changed within Roundcube to "every 1 minute(s)" and being saved by clicking the Save button, it does indeed first look as if it would have been saved. But if you later look again at the User Interface page (after you checked all other pages such as "Mailbox view" etc.), Refresh is still set to "never". You need to change and save it a second time. All other settings of that page (Language, Time zone etc.) are correctly saved at first attempt. Even the option "every 60 minute(s)" of the Refresh item is correctly saved at the first attempt, just not the option "every 1 minute(s)". (Well, to be honest, I didn't check all options, just "1" and "60".) This applies to 0.9.1 [GIT 20130602.1444] with classic skin, didn't check 1.0-git (yet). Hello! I'm trying to ignore all the rants and personal accusations and get back to the a constructive conversation about a technical problem. First, let's start a new thread since it has actually nothing to do with the 0.9.1 update. Second, there are reasons that Roundcube comes with a custom session handler and those are still valid. We didn't do this just for fun, believe me! The main reason are concurrent http request which alter session data. Image the following scenario: A) [r]----------- big file being uploaded ------------[w] B) [r]----- fast upload ----[w] In PHP, session data is read when the process starts and written when the process ends. With the scenario from above, the session changes of request B) would be lost when A) finishes. Until now I don't know of any solution with default PHP session handlers that would be able to handle such a case properly. Another more performance related reason for you custom handler is the check if session data actually changed before issuing a (useless) update query. Switching to an external library might be a solution but don't they use custom save handlers, too? Speaking of which: what Roundcube does is to call session_set_save_handler() in a very early stage of the script startup. That's the API PHP provides and we sticked to the documentation for implementing the handler functions including returning true to signalize success. Unfortunately I don't have an explanation for the errors you reported without being able to reproduce it. So let's try it the old fashioned way and eliminate possible factors. @Harald, could you run Roundcube on a PHP5.4 without Suhosin to rule that out first? Zimbra server and roundcube INBOX messages list problems

Hi, I have a problem with my zimbra server 7.2.3 with which, however, use rouncube as imap client , when a new message arrives, the number of unread messages in INBOX on the left box is updated while the list of messages to the center box (subject, date, sender, etc.. ) it does not appear, appears only changing folder. I've tried various settings on zimbra, I also tried to enable and / or disable the proxy imap but it does not work. I also tried various settings in IMAP section in CR especially with imap_force_caps but does not work. Any ideas ? Thank you Marco

Hello folks We can proudly announce the next stable release of Roundcube. This version enhances the webmail experience with these new features: * Improved rendering of forwarded and attached messages * Optionally display and compose email messages a new windows * Unified UI for message view and composition * Show sender photos from contacts in email view * Render thumbnails for image attachments * Download all attachments as zip archive (using the zipdownload plugin) * Forward multiple emails as attachments * CSV import for contacts The major change of this version isn't really visible to the users but even more important for the developers: the Roundcube framework. We decoupled the core functions for IMAP access, SMTP email sending, database abstraction, caching, etc. from the webmail application in order to make them usable for other free software products. Another major change since the 0.8 series is the new database abstraction layer. In order to add support for SQLite3, the PEAR:MDB2 dependency was dropped and Roundcube now uses the native PHP Data Objects (PDO). It's enabled by default since PHP 5.1 and is considered stable and well-developed. One drawback, however, is a small lack in the MySQL PDO driver which makes PHP 5.3 a requirement for this version of Roundcube when using the MySQL database. A minor but rather handy improvement is a complete new database update mechanism that makes schema changes much easier to be deployed. After the upgrade, simply run bin/updatedb.sh to apply the necessary changes to the database Roundcube connects to. In case you used bin/installto.sh to perform the update, the schema upgrades are done applied and no further actions are required. After lots of testing and collecting your feedback, this version is considered stable and it also includes the recently discovered vulnerability that allows an attacker to modify its users preferences in a way that he can then read arbitrary files from the server. We therefore recommend to update all productive installations of Roundcube. Roundcube 0.9.1 brakes long URLs

Hi List, I updated recently my 0.8.6 Roundcube installation to 0.9.1. Now I have problems with long URL (for example of eBay auctions) which get broken, if I send emails. For example: col=owner&col=type&col=priority&col=component&col=version&order=priority (See the attachment for the real URL). Is this a general problem or something with my installation? (Tested with IE9 und Firefox 21; Language German; Classic-Skin) Greetings, Tim

Including department OU/information in LDAP searches

I have been asked to add department names into the results generated by searches and autocompletion against our LDAP directory. This solves problems with common names: I am one of at least four people named "David Carter" in the University. The following hack solves our requirement: it generates results of the form "David Carter [University Computing Service] <dpc22(a)cam.ac.uk>". The "[]" part gets stripped out by the onclick handler for autocompletion. It is however playing games with strings passed from rcube_addressbook.php to app.js.src and relies on the fact that our directory never generates entries which contain '[' or ']' characters. The correct solution would be to pass objects around instead. Localisation of default mailbox names

Our users seem to be rather confused by the localisation which takes place on the default mailbox names: Drafts Sent Junk Deleted Items Largely because they are used to the names: postponed-msgs sent-mail spam Trash and are puzzled that the same mailbox can show up twice in the list of mailboxes with different names. A bit of experimentation reveals that the localisation can be disabled with two separate one line changes to program/include/rcmail.php (which could be controlled by a configuration option in config/main.inc.php). Unfortunately it isn't quite possible to do this using the Roundcube plugin architecture.
