hi folks, i've installed roundcube some days ago and i really like it ('cause it's a nice ajax app that imho shows how this technology is properly applied). some things that struck me as a bit ... strange for non-techs: - there's no easy way to un-select all messages users (ok - i, at least) expect that, when you click in an area where there's no message (below, e.g.) that the selected message(s) are unselected, but this is not the case. the only way to deselect everything is select:none, which i think makes people uneasy - multiple selections to select multiple mails, one has to press shift and select the individual mails. this is very counter-intuitive, since most people expect strg to do that job and shift to select a range of mails. - opening messages there should be at least a configurable point on whether messages open on single- or double-click - clicking on a) the address book and b) the opencube logo when composing a message does not do anything (at least for me) - some kind of help system (tooltips, whatever) or user-guide is gravely missing - show next and show previous messages arrows are links, even when there's only 1 page - multiple addressbooks would be nice i know i probably touched points that are already in discussion, but i tried to take the bug/feature requests on sf.net into account and avoid duplicates. once i have a bit more spare-time, i'd be happy to submit patches (to show that i am willing to do something more than write long lists to the dev's :-D) happy coding, t

Database structure

I've been checking the sqlite file to make pgsql SQL file, and I'm stopped by lots of problems in the design (I'm still checking the code to be sure about changes). Some are things seen in lots of places, not making them good designs, and others are normalizations. Here are some (if not all) of them: - Use of '0000-00-00 00:00:00' as a valid timestamp, or as a DEFAULT. This should be replaced with NULL. - In the users table, there is a language field (or column) of type varchar(5). First, the use of a reserved SQL word like language really bothers me (lang would have been OK, and easier to write ;-)). And second, for the sake of normalization all posible (or supported) languages should be in a separate table, referenced from the users table. - In the identities table there are two fields which names are inside doble quotes, which may have an unpleseant behaviour in PostgreSQL (it makes it case sensitive). As they are both in lower case, I'll just take the doble quotes away. - The identities table has a "default" field, which once again gives me the spooks, as it is a reserved word in SQL. Imap timeout on login

I just recently got roundcube installed with little effort on my debian linux box. (Great work on the easy install guys) But when trying to connect for the first time It times out on the initial login. I am using courier Imap which I understand used to have some wierd socket errors but I am hoping someone has found a fix. I have tried both an SSL connection and non SSL. The exact error message from the logs is: [22-Nov-2005 16:02:03] PHP Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 120 seconds exceeded in /var/www/webmail/program/lib/imap.inc on line 104 I set the logging to 8 but there is nothing else logged. The web brower (mozilla) spins for quite some time and finally stops with a blank screen. During this time Apache also eats up a whole lot of CPU. Here is some more info: PHP Version 4.3.10-10ubuntu4.2 Linux 2.6.10-5-686 Apache/2.0.53 mysql Ver 12.22 Distrib 4.0.23 As usual TIA

autosave function?

Anything in the roadmap to try and implement a draft autosave similar to what gmail has done? That would be one killer feature that I don't know if I've seen in any of the other webmail apps.

warning every time I pull up an email

I get this warning every time I pull up an email. I'm using the latest cvs version of roundcube and fedora core 4 with courier-imap-3.0.2-1.1, postfix-2.2.2-2, apache-2.0.54-10.2, php-5.0.4-10.5 Warning: preg_replace() [function.preg-replace]: Compilation failed: this version of PCRE is not compiled with PCRE_UTF8 support at offset 0 in /var/www/html/rcube/program/steps/mail/func.inc on line 104

Dynamic language list

Hello Noticed "Auto list all available translations from program/localization/" in your roadmap and wrote something up. You can download it from http://van.g.la/rc/rc_dynamic_lang.tar.bz2 I rewrote rcube_list_languages function in program/include/main.inc and made extra file "info.inc" in every language folder. It includes $LangName variable from which the dynamic menu is built (maybe later also $LangEncoding, $LangAuthor etc. ?). The index.inc in program/localization now only contains $rcube_charsets array. The code may not be nice but it worked for me. What do you think ? PS. It also contains Estonian translation that i sent to roundcube(a)gmail.com<roundcube%40gmail.com>but not appears to be in CVS. Üllar

First-time login crash with PostgreSQL This is caused by the use of a reserved word in main.inc on line 389: $DB->query("INSERT INTO ".get_table_name('identities')." (user_id, `default`, name, email) VALUES (?, '1', ?, ?)", $user_id, $user_name, $user_email); The fix for postgres: $DB->query("INSERT INTO ".get_table_name('identities')." (user_id, \"default\", name, email) VALUES (?, '1', ?, ?)", $user_id, $user_name, $user_email); It might be that this one was missed in the move to support postgres. Since the creation of the default identity now succeeds, the first login for each user succeeds. This issue only appears for new users in an existing installation using postgres and all users in a new installation. In regards to identity creation, should there be a way to configure the user's default email address? I have finally updated my modified roundcube view to work with the latest CVS release. Additionally, I have modified the taskbar icons so the text now displays below the icons instead of beside them. These skins work without errors on resolutions down to 1024x768, but 800x600 is still not supported (and won't be supported until the "move to" drop down box can be gotten rid of). This skin is tested on IE6 and Firefox and should be working without error. To install, simply unzip this file into your skins directory, and then set $rcmail_config['skin_path'] = 'skins/modified/'; in main.inc.php. This will not overwite your default skin, so you can try it at 0 risk. To help things display better, I recomend you make the following changes in roundcubemail\ program\localization\en\labels.inc: $labels['settings'] = 'Settings'; $labels['addressbook'] = 'Contacts'; This shortens the labels from Personal Settings and Address Book. Hi, How can we make RoundCube supported Turkish Character Coding(ISO 8859-9)? At the moment, it does not allow Turkish character to be sent or even to be displayed correctly. Hey all. This is a known bug with Safari / Konqueror. http://archivist.incutio.com/viewlist/css-discuss/62531 There are some CSS3 things you can apparently do to fix this - but rather than risk those, I did this. change line 395 of /program/steps/mail/func.inc to $out .= '<td class="'.$col.'"><div class="'.$col.'">'.$cont."</div></td>\n"; and add three classes to the main.css file which are structured like this #messagelist div.subject { font-size:11px; overflow:hidden; } You'll have to make one for subject, one for from and one for date. Apparently, DIV's cannot inherit font-size from table elements, so you have to put that in there again. It seems that perhaps the table markup should be in the template file? That way the template could do this as nessecary, rather than having to merge a style fix into the actual code. This doesn't break it in Firefox 1.0 for Mac. I don't have a PC to test on. Awesome program by the way. Stephen
