I've submitted a new patch. It now uses a drop-down menu. It also adds a configuration option ("pagejump_dropdown_threshold") which determines the number of pages, over which the drop-down is replaced by a text box (it defaults to 20).
If an installation wants to always use the text box, they can set the value of pagejump_dropdown_threshold to zero. If they want to use only drop-downs, they can set the value to something extremely high.

first off, thanks for the hard work. We all appreciate it!
Further more, I think I agree on a dropdown, it would make sense. Or maybe page numbers to click on - even though there could be a lot. So no idea if it's the greatest idea. :) Then, would you mind adding a screenshot? I have no chance to try it today or tomorrow.
