- No Cancel button anymore (Elastic only, in Classic it's there) - hmm?!?!
Cancel for what? Composing an email? Just click something else in the side menu like Mail or Settings and it will prompt you to discord or save the message.
There is no side menu where I could click (I'm composing messages in a new window). And even if there would be one, I would still need to additionally close the window, which would make three clicks in Elastic instead of two clicks in Classic.
But currently I can just close the separate window and need to delete the message in the Drafts folder.
Sorry, this doesn't make sense.
- No option to change the editor type (Text/HTML) anymore (Elastic only, in
Classic it's there) - hmm?!?!
It is there in elastic. Top left header of the message body input window. You will either see an icon for a mountain picture (HTML Mode) or an icon of an X (text mode).
OK, got it, thanks. A bit hard to detect compared to Classic, but once you know it... The "x" in the HTML editor looks more like a close button.
- The button "Special character" does now list hundreds of additional
useless characters, but the character (which we need to use extremely often) is not available anymore.
If you are in HTML mode you don't need to manually insert the character. Just hit the space bar as many times as you want. HTML mode preserves those spaces and will insert the character automatically in the raw HTML code of the message. Try it, send yourself an email in HTML and bang out 10 spaces between two words.
I'm not talking about multiple spaces. I'm talking about just one single space, e.g. in "200 km/h", "200 €" and the like. I want to insert an after the "200" in those cases to avoid undesirable word/line wrapping. I know that I can do this in the source code, but that's less comfortable and not suitable for standard users who do have no clue about HTML.
It's not possible anymore via the "Special character" button, but it was before.
- One has to click first on the "..." button to see the entire toolbar
(minor issue, but again I miss to see the improvement).
Elastic :) The improvement is responsive layout, the same design works for desktop, tablet and mobile. Developers only have to focus on one skin and not multiple versions.
I'm not missing the improvement of a responsive layout. I'm missing the improvement (or benefit) of such things which make it more complicated or require additional clicks.
The main issue...
- When adding a table, each cell gets a certain width (one cell per row
99.4886%, two cells per row 49.5467% etc., and the table itself 100%). In the old version of the editor, the width of each cell (and the table itself) was automatically adjusted to the length of the text it contained. This is a *major* problem, as the property of each cell in each row needs to be changed manually.
...keeps unresolved. So probably someone can give an answer to this:
[...] I believe to remember that we did have this problem in 1.4.0 as well and therefore installed a previous version of the editor. But I'm not sure if this version will work with PHP 8.x?
