Well I agree that the logo looks better big, but I do like the folders/subject/sender/etc. all lined up.
Is it just me, or do the left icons (reply, etc.) look bigger than the right ones (logout, etc.)? If it's not my eyes playing tricks with me this late at night, we should make the icon sizes consistent.
On a separate thing, how do those up/down sorting arrows look if the are stacked on top of each other (forming a diamond) with a pixel buffer between them? I assume the sorting direction is indicated by a different colour triangle? They might have to be slightly shrunk to not look odd being significantly larger vertically then the text beside them.
Any reason there's a dark black border on the message list and a grey border on the folder list? It's like that on the original skin as well but not sure if there's a reason for it or not.

It doesn't look good at all with the bars aligned at the top. Just to prove my point, I have attached a screen shot. With the folders properly aligned as they now are, I believe it looks quite good, and does a good job of emphasizing the logo, to have them offset. If you really really want them lined up evening, then the logo will need to be redesigned so it looks less crappy like that. I like the current icon size and believe it looks good. The text part is what needs reworking. I was able to change the works E-Mail to Inbox, Address Book to Contacts, and Personal Settings to Settings and solve some of these positioning issues, but its not enough. The text needs to be moved under the icons, but I can't figure out how to adjust where the text is relative to the icons (I've been looking all over, if anyone knows what file thats in, tell me). Also, once we change the Move to drop-down box, we will have less of an overlap issue.

ok, I installed that and I think that if the Folders header and the Subject line were aligned it would look better. That actually gives more room in the button area. The buttons could probably be smaller too. They're plenty big on my (1920x1200) resolution so I'd imagine they look fairly large on lower resolutions.
As you mentioned, the 2 button bars overlap. It appears that there is transparent area on the left end of the right button bar. Shouldn't the button bars only be as wide as minimally required to hold their buttons (regardless if they overlap or not)?

I just finished a few more tweaks on the roundcube skin. The folderlist alignment has been slightly altered, and I adjusted the settings and address book screens to better match the rest of the implementation. Just unzip this file into your roundcube root directory and it will overwrite the necessary files. These modifications have been tested in firefox and IE6 and work without error. The only issue that needs to be addressed before these are added to the CVS is the size of the taskbar icons and text. Whoever made those icons, if you can modify them (I realize the text is not part of the image currently, but you should probably change that) so that the text is smaller and under the icon (just "settings" instead of "personal settings" and "contacts" instead of "address book"). This way, there won't be display isses when reading messages on lower resolution screens (currently, menus overlap at 1024x768). This change of wording and word placement will lead to a far more efficient use of space.
