Hi,
IMHO, the current compose page looks too empty and needs a redesign, the new compose layout (http://detached.gigo.com/rc/yd/F3Do0grg/compose-new.png) would confuse the users and the most comfortable layout would be a combination of:
folders on the left: http://detached.gigo.com/rc/yd/F3Do0grg/compose-folders.png no pop-up panel for editor type/save as/priority/etc: http://detached.gigo.com/rc/JX/meswyk1/rc_compose.jpg and attachment area: http://detached.gigo.com/rc/yd/F3Do0grg/compose-full.png or attachment area: - http://detached.gigo.com/rc/yd/F3Do0grg/compose-full2.png
