Pat, the cause was already detected. try pressing CTRL+[-] several times and voila', 'problem' is gone ;)

I can reproduce this problem under Windows XP: if I zoom in all the fonts in Firefox 3.0.9 and turn off the zooming of images (zoom only the text) then the login/password fields
will be too long to fit into the frame. What browser are you using?

Same here, seems to be a localization issue. Compare attached german and english login screens.
I'm also seeing this on my netbook (resolution 1024x600) but not on my laptop (resolution 1280x800), both with Firefox 3.0.9, X.org 1.5.3, Linux... It looks ok in Konqueror, by the way.
Can't be localisation since I have RC set to English.
