I've never had to 'think about every single file'? What is this thinking ? And yeah, this does not introduce bugs...
If your concept is that they would accidently put in the wrong file
extension, then they didn't confirm the filename to begin with and even so
typographical/syntactical errors are a common thing to debug in
programming. Its called human error.
