If we regard a mailing list generated message as an object, it's good for that object to have some standard properties related to the list and not ad-hoc text in a footer. At least in theory: the question is what properties for what purpose. The RFC proposes a bunch to "cover all the bases", but it's not clear how all of them would be used. Here is a nice use case for the List-Post: header. I could hack my mail client to notice when Reply-To: is set to the list address (Reply-To: contents match the List-Post: contents). This strongly indicates that the list is doing reply-to munging, and the client could automatically fix the situation by scrubbing out Reply-To:, and adding the list address to the Cc:. Without this header, it would be very hard to do this reliably. So these headers can be used to combat the Reply-To disease. What a nice thing! > *any* sane list on this planet have them Yes. No history in searchbox with Firefox anymore?

When using IE, I always had a history in the Roundcube searchbox (the previous search terms were displayed and selectable upon typing). Wake up and look at this: Reply-To: Roundcube Users mailing list <users(a)lists.roundcube.net> The RCU mailing list stamps this idiocy on everything that passes through it. The mailing list for mail-related software is doing Reply-To munging. What's wrong with this picture? That explains why the same people think it's a good idea to have a "Reply List" button. single user unable to safe column preferences

carddac plugin cron

Hello everyone, I am using roundcube 0.7.2-9+deb7u1 on Debian stable and managed to install the carddav plugin. It is working as expected but I can't get the cron sync to work. When I call: php -f /usr/share/roundcube/plugins/carddav/cronjob/synchronize.php I get the following error message: #MDB2 Error: not found (-4): no RDBMS driver specified #PHP Fatal error: Class 'carddav' not found in /usr/share/roundcube/plugins/carddav/cronjob/synchronize.php on line 119 But roundcube is able to access my tables and the plugin also populated the tables carddav_server and carddav_contacts. Hi all, I am a blind guy currently testing roundcube. well actually i used the demo installation. I was able to read email though i have no clue how to select multiple messages to delete or move in the messages list. In the php.ini open_basedir is not set ;open_basedir = nor is it in a .htaccess file for that virtual host. But wait. It is set for the default server of apache as php_admin_value and with this IP 78.47.3.17 Roundcube connects to 78.47.3.18. This could be the reason for the error. I'll watch that. Hi, I disabled the roundcube (0.9.5) address book using /$rcmail_config['address_book_type'] = '';/ as instructed: / //// This indicates which type of address book to use. I thought whith Roundcube this is done as soon someone can login. In every MUA I can specify what outgoing SMTP-Server and incoming IMAP-Server to use. Hello all! If I define $rcmail_config['smtp_server'] = '78.47.3.18'; instead of $rcmail_config['smtp_server'] = ''; the users get a Relay access denied. Whereby Roundcube takes the first IP of the subnet 78.47.3.17 and I assume, this is the reason for the denied access. Problem with 0.9.5-1.el6

Hi all, Recently I upgraded roundcube on CentOS 6 via epel to ver. 0.9.5-1.el6. When I did, I started getting database connection errors. I guessed that my password (containing spaces and special characters). I changed the owner of the (postgresql) database and set the new user's password to be much simpler (pure string of letters), but that didn't fix the problem either. I'm trying to upload a 1.4MB file to Roundcube but I always get the "File upload failed" message. I can upload small files without a problem. There is nothing in roundcube/logs/errors. I have the following in php.ini: upload_max_filesize = 2M post_max_size = 8M What could be wrong? - Grant

Allowed to replace RC logo and to deactivate about page?

Hello list I need to ensure that it is allowed to replace the roundcube logo and to deactivate the about page. From my understanding the logo shouldn't be a problem. But what about the about-page? I saw that the about page is necessary if using plugins/styles which are published under AGPL. So far we do not use plugins with that license. What about the default styles (larry and classic) provided by roundcube? I assume they're GPL too, but I just want to be sure Thanks a lot and have a nice day tobi

Hi, Often, in replying to HTML messages, it is impossible to insert an inline reply throughout the message, if I try type anything, even through enters, backspaces, deletes, whatever, it ends up being inside the last post, making it appear to have been said by the person I reply to, this was reported by many users and I can't see a way around it. Shouldnt the default html editor see a local keyboard line input as a break and insert of new content? Users are getting sick of being told to covert message to text so they can sanely reply. Using current stable release, personally checked using chrome and firefox on linux, firefox and IE on Win7, IE and FF on Win XP. Most of these are to gmail users, but not all, and most, but not all, are multiple quoted messages (how users never bother to trim and end up with quotes to quotes to quotes to quotes, etc)

Hello everybody, Sorry for this repost, but I'm stumped on this issue. First let me fill you in on my setup. My server runs FreeBSD 9.2-RELEASE and provides the jail containing my web server that runs nginx 1.4.3. with php 5.5.5 along with php-fpm. I am deploying Roundcube Version 0.9.5 (and Roundcube in general) for the first time and the installation process seemed smooth so far. The Roundcube config generator / installer indicates that all requirements are met and testing the connection to my mailserver from there also worked, but now I’m getting the error mentioned in the subject line "Your session is invalid or expired”. I tried several machines, different browsers and various operating systems. Hi Everyone, We have iPads that have difficulty viewing certain content from RC and I would be really grateful somebody could help me out trying to solve this problem. If we send emails with this content then iPad's Mail programme displays this message below. Opening attachements display mismatched error

Hi, I noticed after my upgrade to I think 0.9n, opening attachments like JPG or PDF gave this message, "WARNING! This attachment is suspicious because its type doesn't match the type declared in the message. If you do not trust the sender, you shouldn't open it in the browser because it may contain malicious contents. Expected: image/jpeg(.jpg); found: application/octet-stream(.bin)" Would somebody know how this could be caused, and if I could avoid this message? overwrite/set user identity on every login

Hi *, I am in the process of deploying Roundcube (0.9.5) and so far everything works fine, including the import of the addressbook of our legacy Squirremail webmailer and the initial creation of the user via the new_user_identity plugin using our LDAP server. Now I only need a way to overwrite/set/force the identity of the user from the LDAP server on every login of a user. identities_level is set to 4 (one read-only identity) and populated correctly on the first login, but users do things like marrying or moving to different departments which changes their name and/or mail-address. This change needs to be reflected automatically inside roundcube without the need (or possibility) for the user to edit the identity himself. In Squirrelmail I was able to hack the retrieveuserdata plugin, which is run on every login and overwrite the identity prefs with the current values for a user from LDAP. For Roundcube I have looked at the provided plugin hooks, but I am currently a bit lost on how to proceed. The user_create hook is obviously only invoked on the first login, so cannot be used for later changes. The user2mail hook looks promising but I was unable to find (and understand) an example on how to use it (I am a Perl guy, PHP is like a 4th language for me ;)). Maybe I overlooked the obvious simple solution, please gently nudge me in the right direction. Grüße, Sven. -- Sigmentation fault. Core dumped.

Hi, I have a postfix+dovecot+mysql+roundcube setup. I recently changed providers. At the moment, postfix can receive e-mails but either dovecot or roundcube can't see e-mails. Roundcube producing a lot of IMAP logins

Hello, I use roundcube 0.9.5 with dovecot 2.1.7 from debian stable. I've noticed that roundcube produces a lot of login/logout messages. Just viewing the next message using the arrows top left on message view produces three login/logout on the IMAP server. Why does roundcube does not make use of persistent connections with IDLE? Can I change this behavior somehow? Because it seem that given more users this would hammer the IMAP server pretty bad. IDLE is advertised on login. Thanks, Florian

Configure filters in Windows system

Hi, I am newby in Rouncube use and configuration. I need to configure rules as other mail clients has, that moves certains incoming mails to predefined folders. I think that for this action, I need to use sieve plugins. Is right this assertion? If I need to use sieve filters, I saw managesieve plugin, but I understand that this must require a dovecot server installed and I saw that dovecot don't runs under windows system. Is that rigth? In that case, how can I configure Roundcube under Windows system to use filters? If not, can anyone explain/help me to use filters on RoundCube under Windows systems? TIA Jorge Colaccini

With the synckolab thunderbird addon (most recent nightlies) I experience incompatibilities to calendars in roundcube itself. Items synced with kolab3 format in synckolab are not shown! database_attachments plugin loses attachments with multiple upload

Good afternoon, We use the database_attachments plugin which ships with Roundcube so that attachments can be shared between several frontend HTTP servers. Yesterday two separate users reported if they tried to add more than four attachments to a message as a single action (using the + icon on the "Attach a file" popup dialogue) then they ended up with a subset of the attachments in the message which is actually sent. If they add one attachment at a time then things work correctly. I can reproduce the effect using a vanilla Roundcube 0.9.5 installation on my workstation, where database_attachments is the only plugin enabled. The database backend is the version of PostgresSQL which ships with Ubuntu 12.04. However I don't think that this is relevant: I see the same effect using a MySQL database backend (Although the set of attachments which are included seems to be different. I suspect that is down to how long it takes the database to respond). Hello all! I activated zipdownload in the config, the php-installation supports it. Attachments are shown for download and in the left corner at the buttom there is also an option to download a zipped folder. Within the plugin I set $rcmail_config['zipdownload_selection'] = true; No how does that work? If I select some messages, now how do I zip and download them? I can't see any possibility to do that. No "remember password" with Chromium or Firefox?

Hello, I'm using Roundcube on my Debian Wheezy headless VPS. Only thing I remember to have changed in configuration is `$rcmail_config['default_host']` set to only host I'm using, so that the login form does not ask for it. I have been using this configuration with Opera and several mailboxes for more than year. However, recently I'm trying Firefox and Chrome and none of them offer me to remember the password. Is this a bug, or I am missing something? Is there a workaround? The exact version number is 0.7.2-9+deb7u1. Thanks, aL. -- Alois Mahdal

I was asked to add identities to a user in our company, and when clicking on Settings->Identities, I see the already set identity, but no button on the web page to add or create an identity. This can result in random file access, manipulated SQL queries and even code execution. The latter one only affects versions 0.8.6 and older. Hello I'm really not very tech savvy, sorry. Our organisation has FINALLY managed to work out how we can have .org.au addresses and access them from home - I have 2 and it is handy if I can have them open at the same time rather than logging out and logging in numerous times over the course of the day. Also, it would be great if I could change font sizes, colours etc as I like to highlight aspects of the mail I send out, hoping that people will actually read it .ha. New Roundcube Deployment

We switched our main University Webmail service (30k users) to Roundcube on Monday: https://webmail.hermes.cam.ac.uk/ On the whole the deployment has gone well (if we discount a foul up on my part which isn't relevant to this list). Two issues have arisen: First a number of people (in particular elderly, important, Professors) have complained about the fonts and colour scheme used by the Larry theme. In particular the fact that there is no way to increase the size of the font. I don't suppose that plugins exist that would allow people to change the font size? Failing that do people find that the Classic theme is considered an acceptable alternative? At the moment I have disabled that simply because the Larry theme is a better fit to our new University house style. Secondly, a number of people report that Firefox (all the reports to date mention Firefox 22 on MacOS, but that may be a red herring) ships with a popup blocker enabled which blocks the "Send" button after a message has been composed: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/pop-blocker-settings-exceptions-trouble… Firefox on my Linux workstation doesn't have any problems, even with the popup blocker enabled. Slightly more alarmingly we have had one report (and only one report to date) where the Send button only works intermittently, which is harder to blame on a popup blocker. I don't suppose that anyone else on this list has had similar experiences? Hi, I'm running roundcube 0.3.1 on a Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Server and planning to set up a complete new Ubuntu 12.04 LTS server with roundcube 0.7.1 at another hoster (so there is no way just to make a dist upgrade). Roundcube 0.3.1 was installed from the Ubuntu repository and because of security updates I'd like to use Ubuntu packages on the new server too. Hello, We are trying to stop inline attachment viewing of attached messages. This is because our anti spam software sends an email warning and attaches the spam, with its usual blurb if you know the risks open attachment, but Roundcube displays the spam messages anyway, is there a way to sop this? Hi all, There is a dearth of decent mailing list archiving software out there that can handle HTML and MIME. I've been thinking: what if RoundCube was adapted so that it can be configured to serve as a read-only interface to mailing list archive, presenting a mailbox-like view, with all the searching and whatnot. There isn't a big difference between a mail archive and an inbox. Thoughts?

I looked at main.inc.php and I found: $rcmail_config['top_posting'] = false; I tried to change this parameter in true, but nothing happens: all new user has always "start new message below the quote". hello everyone, my server has lots of folders in namespaces so roundcube goes over EVERY folder with a list-command. This takes several minutes while the login is waiting for all list-commands to be completed. The webmail is pretty unusable this way, i found no config to speed up/cache or circumvent this behavior. Not sure if this behaviour is a bug or a normal in 0.9.4? I could live with suppressing all folders other than below INBOX, if at least these folders are displayed in time. Search result eliminated upon replying in 1.0-git?

As I don't want to interfere in the still ongoing codebase cleanup discussion in the dev list, I'm posting it here: Scenario: - Select Sent folder - Initiate a search for a user name or e-mail address - Reply to any message being part of the search result - Send the reply - The search result goes away, folder is being reset to it's default state This applies to 1.0-git only, in 0.9.4 the search result keeps staying right after sending the reply. Win7/64, IE8, all plugins (due to testing) disabled. There may be more scenarios than the above where the same may apply (e.g. selecting a different folder than the Sent folder), but the scenario above was the one where I encountered the behaviour. I'm having some trouble using Ctrl+click and Shift+click in Midori when using Roundcube. Sometimes they work fine to highlight additional messages, but sometimes the message I click opens in a new tab instead. This doesn't happen in Chromium. Is it a Midori issue? - Grant

Hello! I would like to restrict roundcube to one domain and tried the following: $rcmail_config['default_host'] = '%d = anup.de'; $rcmail_config['default_host'] = '%n = mail.anup.de'; and also $rcmail_config['email_dns_check'] = true; but I don't get it. Get a connection to server failed. The log says Could not connect to anup.de = anup.de:143: php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Der Name oder der Dienst ist nicht bekannt in .... /program/include/rcube_imap.php on line 191 What am I missing? htmleditor (Compose HTML messages) preference problem

Hi, I'm recently upgrade from Roundcube 0.8.6 to Roundcube 0.9.4 on Fedora 18. Some users complain about problem composing non-HTML messages because "Compose HTML messages" is set to always even after save configuration with a never value for this preference. I have $rcmail_config['htmleditor'] = 0; in main.inc.php and if the user haven't got "htmleditor" in his preferences field on table user it's works fine, but the problem comes when the user has any value for this preference. How to reproduce? - Check if the user has "htmleditor" in his field "preferences" on table "users" (s:10:"htmleditor";i:0;) - Change "Compose HTML messages" configuration value (in Preferences --> Composing Messages) to another value and click save button (if you reload your MySQL query to show user preferences, you could see that htmleditor value has been changed with the new value s:10:"htmleditor";i:2;) - Return to mail INBOX and reload your MySQL query, the value has been automatically changed to s:10:"htmleditor";b:1; and "Compose HTML messages" is set to "always" and if you change this value you have the same problem again. I don'tknow if it's a bug or I have any configuration problem. Can you help me? Thank you T

It wouldn't be Roundcube if there wasn't a minor glitch in our stable releases every now and then :-) It so happened again in the recent 0.9.3 release where the new include_path check triggered some regex warnings on Windows systems. We apologize for this inconvenience! But we're trying hard to keep up and here's a new release which fixes that nasty bug together with some other reported issues that we considered worth being ported to the 0.9 release series. It's considered stable (really!) and we recommend to update all productive installations of Roundcube with this version. Im looking for a person, who can write a plugin for Roundcube webmail which can do next things: Add 2 buttons with descriptions for sending mail: send via 1st smtp server and send with 2nd smtp server. This two buttons must be configurable: width and height, css styles, etc. And smtp server's address also must be configurable. This plugin must work with modern verions of roundcube. Roundcube "hangs" in settings pages

Hi list I got a weird problem with my roundcube 0.9.2 installation. If I go to the settings pages and choose any menu item from the left pane (e.g. server-settings) RC hangs forever showing "loading data". The same goes for all plugins settings which have menu items in the left pane. If I click such a menu item all other links in RC are not working anymore. I have to reload the page in browser (ctrl+F5) to use RC again. Webmail itself works fine, it's just the settings pages that seem to be broken somehow in my case. Problem with mobile devices

Hi, I'm experiencing some problems in the graphical interface with mobile devices. I've tried with default theme, Classic, Larry, and also "mobile cube". I'm using RC 0.9.2 on Debian 6. Hello, Since version 0.8.5 of Roundcube, the default installation of the managesieve plugin doesn't work for me. Even using the same configuration settings from versions prior results in the roundcube being unable to connect to the sieve via the managesieve plugin. After doing some checking, on my config, the various auth functions in plugins/managesieve/Net/Sieve.php that attempt to determine the server's strongest auth methods seem to return incorrect values. Worse, the plugin will gleefully ignore you specifying a particular auth method, like CRAM-MD5. In my testing, the plugin will repeatedly try DIGEST-MD5 when you specify CRAM-MD5; which I suppose would be fine except when in fact your server doesn't support it. :-) You can workaround the issue by removing the DIGEST-MD5 as a supported type in class Net_Sieve (which lives in the managesieve plugin folder, under /Net) but this seems to be a bit of a brute force mechanism to solve what should be a simple problem. I saw a couple of other users with similar issues, including one with an identical problem in the forums but no resolution. I'm fresh out of ideas on why this happening -- probably looking at the command line way too much today, any suggestions? Thanks, - Matt

Speed-ups for a slow computer?

Can anything be done to speed up Roundcube on a Celeron 700 with 512MB RAM (maxed out) running Gentoo Linux? We're using the Chrome browser and the CPU is 95% idle when no one is logged into X. I'm getting reports of 30+ seconds to open an email. - Grant
