Roundcube Licensing Update

Hello folks As of January 2012 Roundcube will be licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL) Version 3 or later (with exceptions for skins & plugins) while it was licensed under GPL (v2) before that change. Actually the license situation wasn't absolutely clear before because some parts of the Roundcube code didn't specify a version number of the GPL while others did. Those parts not specifying a version number could, according to the GPL license text, be considered as either version 2 or any later version. *Clarification and Preparation for the Future* Because of the incorporated numerous other components, the only options for licenses are in the GNU GPL family, namely GNU GPLv2, GNU GPLv3, GNU AGPLv3. In order to become license compatible with some of the newer technologies we would like to be able to use and to be well prepared for future development and integration we decided to officially change to GNU GPL "version 3 or any later version". Together with the change to GPLv3+ we also added the following exception to the Roundcube license agreement which explicitly excludes skins & plugins from the terms of the GPL: " This file forms part of the Roundcube Webmail Software for which the following exception is added: Plug-ins and Skins which merely make function calls to the Roundcube Webmail Software, and for that purpose include it by reference shall not be considered modifications of the software. If you wish to use this file in another project or create a modified version that will not be part of the Roundcube Webmail Software, you may remove the exception above and use this source code under the original version of the license. " This shall give a maximum flexibility to skin designers and plugin developers to choose any other license for their work or even to create commercial or proprietary components without being forced to publish them according to the strong copy-left requirements of the GPL. The original proposal and the following discussion about this license clarification can be read in our mailing list archive: http://lists.roundcube.net/mail-archive/dev/2011-11/0000040.html *Request for Agreement* Because the copyright in Roundcube is not consolidated, making these updates requires the agreement of all contributors to Roundcube. But of course we cannot force anyone to agree, so for those who do not agree to this license update we still offer the choice to have their code removed from Roundcube. Not seeing JPG attachments

Dear Roundcube Users, I've been using Roundcube from version 0.4.2 installed with Directadmin. I would like to make Roundcube to show my users their quota usages. I searched for the solution much but with no success. By the way as I saw it should be a default feature. Could you help me how to make it being shown? Thank you very much! Beside fixing the generously reported bugs we also added some security improvements which will protect the Roundcube users from XSS and clickjacking attacks. While most of the modern browser already provide good production for such, we addressed the security of older browsers by doing some more content filtering and environment analysis. I set this up, but nothing happened - the textbox for sender email is still present in the form. Why? I have now only one user in the SQL database, that I use for testing purposes. I've just installed the newest RC 0.7 and I'm trying to find a solution to my problem. I'd like to have the mail composing form without the possibility to change the From: mail address/header. How can I do that? Our customers must login into the webmail with their email/password and so I want to use the email automatically as the only option to the From: header without the possibility to change this header. I was looking into some plugins, read some doc, but found nothing usable. To try to hack to code is imho not the proper way, hope there must be a solution. Or am I missing something? question regarding fieldmap for LDAP addressbook in RC 7

Hello all, today I have upgraded my Roundcube installation from 5.2 to 7.0. The update worked well end everything seems to work like a charm, except the addressbook. I had to change some parameters in main.inc.php and our skin to get the LDAP entries to display again. What I would like to know is how to use the 'address' fieldmap for work and home addresses. In LDAP we do not have a composite address but only street, locality, zipcode, region, country in seperate LDAP fields. I have tried something like: 'address:work' => array( 'street' => 'street', 'locality' => 'l', 'zipcode' => 'postalCode', 'region' => 'st', 'country' => 'c', ), but this does not seem to work. Problem upgrading from 0.6 to 0.7...

Need some help... The first problem was that there was no choice to upgrade from 0.6 to 0.7 in the installer. The most recent version choice was 0.5.1. The second problem came after I executed all of the SQL upgrade statements manually. Subfolder creation feature

Hello everyone, I inherited a mail server which is configured to use mbox format for imap folders. In our case, roundcube 0.6 can create new folders, but it is unable to create any sub-folders inside. I tried to create "newSubFolder/" but roundcube says that folder names cannot contain separator characters. Whenever I try to create a new folder or subfolder using a mail client, for instance Thunderbird, it asks if the new folder is going to contain messages or sub-folders. Thus, if the first option is chosen, the imap server will create a file (mbox) to contain all the messages for that folder, whereas if the second option is chosen, the imap server will create a file system directory to contain, the subfolder files (mboxes). Would it be possible to add a checkbox in the "Create new folder" pane, saying: "Allow the new folder to contain sub-folders (mbox format only):". Changing to other format (Maildir, mdbox, etc.) is not possible for us right now. Has anybody had the same problem? But, per the subject, is there a way to make the preview pane default to enabled for all users, then allow them individually to switch it off if they want? Special Folders sorted to top?

Hi, I use sendmail 8.14.15 with virtusertable for multiple domains and dovecot 2.0; and Apache (chrooted in /var/www) I just want at the Roundcube login page, type user1@domain1 and send emails from this email : user1@domain1 without @localhost Actually i can only log in with user1 and when i send email, i have user1@localhost I tried this : add these 2 lines in main.inc.php and cp /etc/mail/virtusertable in /var/www/roundcubemail/ $rcmail_config['plugins'] = array('virtuser_file'); $rcmail_config['virtuser_file'] = '/roundcubemail/virtusertable'; add a new user, try to connect with user_new@domain1 : no success try to connect with user_new : OK but always send emails with @localhost I read man pages, a lot of documents in Internet, it doesn't work for me. stuck at imap-test because of auth type?

Hello! I hope someone here can point me in the right direction, because i seem to have a board in front of my head x_x I am stuck at the installation test for imap-login. The server is a ubuntu 10.4.3 lts, dovecot 1.2.9. telnet-testing the mail accounts works fine, i can use thunderbird and squirrelmail as clients and successfully log in. But when i try a working user/pw combo in the config-testing-form, i get "Authentication failed". When i checked the dovecot.log, i saw this: imap-login: Info: Aborted login (auth failed, 1 attempts): method=DIGEST-MD5, rip=127.0.0.1, lip=127.0.0.1, secured even though in the main.inc.php i specified: $rcmail_config['default_host'] = 'localhost'; $rcmail_config['default_port'] = 143; $rcmail_config['imap_auth_type'] = PLAIN; anyone got a clue as to where this md5 is coming from? my brain seems kinda blocked on this one.. =) thanks in advance for any hints already! best regards sil -- -- "Do you know what happens to a toad struck by lightning..? Problem with address book

Hi all, I'm having some trouble with the address book in RoundCube 0.6. I have been looking for the answer -of which I'm sure there already is- on different resources. The problem is as follows. Contacts which are not in a contactgroup are not displayed in the address book. At first I thought this was by design, but adding addresses for automatic display of inline images also stores contacts without a group. This resulted in a lot of double addresses in the contacts table of the database. Updating these contacts to be in a contactgroup revealed the addresses and the images are then shown without a warning. What should I do to fix this, or rather: where can I find the answer. Roundcube CAS Plugin

Hi List, i try to install the cas plugin (rc-cas-plugin) from the code.google.com site. After copying and modifying the two files cas_authentication.php and config.inc.php in the /plugins/cas directory, I activated the plugin in the file ../config/main.inc.php. But I cannot see any buttons, link or logging of this cas-plugin when I open the Roundcube Webmail-Page. Now I want to know, if it is enough to take the two files mentioned above to run this plugin with phpcas ? Or is there something urgent missing in my explanation to activate the plugin properly ? I am running rc 0.6-stable with the password and vacation plugin. Also phpcas 1.0.1 and PHP 5.3.3-7 is installed on this machine. Has anybody some hints? Recommended driver for password plugin and system account users

Hi list, I have RC running fine on FreeBSD 8.2. Users need to change their own password, so I enabled de password plugin whith the 'pam' driver. I configured PAM for the 'php' service; however, since Apache runs as 'www' user, the password change cannot be performed. I tried suPHP and it didn't work either. Hi List, was anybody succesful with installing roundcube ver. 0.6 with the actual pam_cas 2.0.11 and phpcas 1.2.2 for the cas_plugin ? Or what version combinations have been successful in your environment? I am trying to install the latest pam_cas for a dovecot-imap-backend and the phpcas for the rc-cas-plugin, with no success. Ive read on a forum that the actual phpcas 1.2.2 is not working with roundcube 0.6. Any experience informations would be great. vacation plugin with ldap environment

Hi list, i try to setup the vacation plugin 1.9.9 with the setuid driver. I have chosen this method because I've successfully installed a vacation-plugin with this squirrelmail_vacation_proxy for squirrelmail with pam_ldap. There everything worked fine. Now I configured this plugin for roundcube and got some problems with the ldap users. Local system users can use this plugin without problems, but my ldap users cannot. The following error appears only with ldap users: PHP Error: Vacation plugin: /usr/bin/squirrelmail_vacation_proxy is not configured for user "www-data".<br/> Check config.mk in plugins/vacation/extra/vacation_binary. in /home/roundcubemail-0.6/plugins/vacation/lib/setuid.class.php on line 0 (GET /?_task=settings&_action=plugin.vacation) I checked the file config.mk and set the user to www-data. Then I started make and after make install. But the same error appears when I try to go to the vacation plugin after login with a ldap user. With the system user everything is fine. Has anybody some hints? Or should I change to the other vacation plugin from Boris Huisgen "rc-vacation-0.4-13" for a openldap environment? No contact images in address book

Hi I've just upgraded from roundcube 5.4 to 6.0. The upgrading process went without problems through bin/installto.sh script. After upgrade everything seems to work fine with one exception - I can't add image to contact in the address book. There is just no image after uploading an image file. Modification request - default font of sent emails

Hello I am searching for a modification to change the default font of sent emails. At the moment Roundcube sends no font information afaik, so sent emails are renedered in most email clients at the received side in Times New Roman. If unformatted, TinyMCE shows a sans-serif font, which is not what you get at the recipient side. Willing to pay if you can solve this issue. Ideally for me would be a definable font face & size (Arial, 12pt), which then shows up consistently in the Roundcube Editor and in the produced HTML Mail. Server Error on Recipient Field

Hello all, First message to the mailing list. I joined as I have a question. I just installed the latest Roundcube on my Ubuntu 10,04 LTS Server. I have used Roundcube before but didn't have this problem before. The problem is that when I start typing in the recipient box, instead of the auto-complete function starting to display possible names, I get a red box at the top with the following message: Server Error! (Internal Server Error) I have installed the google_contacts plugin, but I also had that before (which worked perfectly, thank you!). Any ideas where to start looking would be appreciated. Auto activate default folders on login and display them

Hello! I installed the latest version of RoundCube (0.6) on our new server. When the user makes login, the RoundCube creates default folders, but they do not appear in the list.Every time we have to go to your preferences, enable the folders and then "Folder Special" and click save.It has a way to enable folders automatically at login, as was the case in previous versions? I am just wondering what the meaning of the "standard" column is in the identities table. (On this one it is because we have a mailbox-postcreation script that we run in PostfixAdmin so that when a new mailbox is created, and that postmaster defines a proper Name, we can already have that name in their roundcube identity. But we noticed we weren't setting the standard column to 1, as RoundCube would if creating the identity itself.) Also the alias column in the users table. How does that get set or used? I'm puzzled by the small subset of users that have this column set. Though I am delighted to learn that it can be used to contain an alternate username that works to login! Hi, I started playing with the modsecurity rules today. I noticed that CRS modsecurity rule modsecurity_crs_16_session_hijacking.conf will hit on Roundcube 0.6 on my test server. I have not used modsec on any other version of RC. Enabling the CRS 2.2.2 options rules breaks this RC set-up. I'm not an expert on these rules, so it is quite likely that I misinterpreted the results. Hello All, I've got a problem with answering to a mailinglist. The way I work to make sure everything gets in the right folder I use a different e-mailadres for every mailinglist. All the mails arrive thanks to a cach all, so that isn't the problem. But when I want to reply to a mailinglist the from adres is always my default mailadres, and I'd like that to be the right adres for the mailinglist right away. Hi there, I am running RC 0.5.2 on Debian Squeeze and Apache/2.2.16 (Debian) mod_fastcgi/2.4.6 mod_ssl/2.2.16 OpenSSL/0.9.8o mod_defensible/1.2 configured All worked well until I did an apt-get upgrade, which changed many Apache related apps. Hello, since the upgrade from 0.5.3 to 0.6 I have a problem when some users try to delete messages in their INBOX. The error is: "UID COPY: Client tried to access nonexistent namespace. (Mailbox name should probably be prefixed with: INBOX.)." This appens only on mailbox that have INBOX as namespace, I use Dovecot 2.0.x as IMAP server so when it is configured as: namespace { inbox = yes location = prefix = INBOX. separator = . type = private } On servers without namespace configured I have no trouble (always Dovecot as IMAP server) I can fix the error simply by Settings, Special Folders, "Save". Password Plugin - PAM Driver fails

Hi list, I have roundcube working fine on FreeBSD. Recently enabled the password plugin with the PAM driver. Once authenticated with my own account, a try to change my password but it fails. I've noticed that RC made a big leap forward recently. But since we run on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS servers, we still have the RC version in the repo of that Ubuntu release. I think it is 0.4... Is it possible that the latest version will be made available in some backport repo? Or is this the wrong place to ask? Logout after sending message

Hello all, after upgrading RC from 0.5.3 to 0.6-rc at least two users on our server are experiencing a strange problem. They compose a message and send it. The message gets send and the user gets logged out. It has nothing to do with the browser cache and/or cookies, at least with one of the users who I spoke with directly. One user is running Win7/IE9, the other XP/FF5. Any ideas? Any thoughts? I'm kinda stuck here... I employed the services of a php programmer to create a routine to remove users from roundcube 'completely'. This routine also verifies if (perhaps) someone has tried to remove a user directly thru phpMyAdmin, and has created orphaned records. You also can delete any specific roundcube user and all related entries easily and cleanly. a tarball has been placed on my ftp site. This has been tested with both 0.5.1 & 0.5.4... MySQL only. Is it possible to set the IMAP prefix 0.6rc? I have tried the following settings and nothing seems to work. imap_ns_personal imap_root What I want is to constrain the folders to the mail directory in people's home directories. Some folders can be set in the Special Folders section, but I would prefer to constrain it at the system level. Thanks for any information. Dear all, After a day of investigation I approach this list for the first time. Let me please send this "schematic" email with all my findings so far. THE PROBLEM I am desperately searching a Free webmail client with message threading support. HYPOTHESIS I see that roundcube has extensive support for message threading although it needs server-side assistance to perform the threading sort. Unfortunately my IMAP server (MS Exchange, out of my control) does not seem to cooperate at least in announcing this capability. Message threading can still be done as my desktop clients (claws-mail and thunderbird) proof in a daily basis :). VERIFYING THE HYPOTHESIS * Roundcube 0.6-rc1 requires server side support for message threading. http://lists.roundcube.net/mail-archive/users/2011-08/0000028.html (this link also suggests an initial approach to restablish client-side threading support) * My IMAP server does not provide this support This seems to be based on the THREAD capability of the IMAP server. In program/steps/settings/func.inc there is an interesting switch. $threading_supported = $RCMAIL->imap->get_capability('THREAD'); OPEN QUESTIONS: Is there a way in roundcube to trace the IMAP traffic? Although I guess that if I don't have the threading options displayed in folder settings is because roundcube has already parsed the capabilities from the server correctly. Have already tried Squirrelmail and I already like roundcube much more. 0.5.4 Roundcube display broken with lighttpd

Hello, I've searched the archives, google, and posted on the forums. Trying here as well as none of the apparent solutions suggested elsewhere are working. on apache server, login screen looks OK: http://i52.tinypic.com/f2t2tc.png on lighttpd server, it looks broken: http://i52.tinypic.com/wgsqde.jpg Notice missing box and obvious misalignment on the lighttpd screenshot. Also, upon logging in, the icons and text are misaligned to the point the site cannot be used. We need to get RC working on lighttpd, but since there are no errors being reported in any logs as far as I can tell, I'm a little perplexed about how to troubleshoot. Hi all, I tried to update our RC-0.5.3 to RC-0.6-rc. The update itself was a complete new install as I wanted to clean up the whole stuff. mysql.update.sql had been run. Now I'm not able to login. I'm always getting "Your session is invalid or expired.". After some search in the net I found these error is now and raising $rcmail_config['session_lifetime'] or setting it to '0' should solve the problem. Annoyingly it did not. Bizarre UI behavior.

Hi all, This might not be a RoundCube problem. But from one particular installation of FireFox (running 3.6.22), I'm suddenly having numerous issues with the RoundCube (0.4) UI. Firstly, look at this weird arrangement of the e-mail composition UI. The child window for the editor is not properly "docked" into the rest of the UI. It does not resize, and covers up part of the Subject line. Secondly, there is strange behavior in the main E-mail view whenever I enable "preview pane" checkbox (which does not remember its state like it used to). When preview is enabled, I have to click on an e-mail twice in order to select it (highlighted in red). If I just click once, it de-selects the one that was previously selected. The preview pane contains nothing. I have to click several times to get the e-mail body to appear. I've just discovered that the issue seems to be related to using HTTP rather than HTTPS. Due to a web server misconfiguration, my session was not redirected to HTTPS. I manually switched to HTTPS and the issues disappeared. Plugin menu not visible

Hi, I'm trying to replace horde with roundcube. Roundcube's basic functionality is flawless and the install was a cake-walk, but I'm having a problem with the plugins. main.inc.php contains: $rcmail_config['plugins'] = array('managesieve','additional_message_headers'); However there is no menu option anywhere that I've seen for managing the filtes from the user side. I also don't see any admin control panel anywhere. Is this a symptom of something, or is all the system config done by editing main.inc.php? (not a problem either way, I just want to make sure I'm not missing something) Also, I activated additional_message_headers just as a test, but don't see any options related to that either. Does anybody have any suggestions or any debugging hints? This is on Ubuntu 11, installed using apt-get. Thanks! Upon examining my MySQL database for "users", I have discovered some on my users have multiple identities because that have placed an uppercase letter within their email address. My popper defaults to all lower, even if roundcube submits upper. Blank Page when hitting roundcube and error in installer

Hi, I installed roundcube 0.5.3 on a shared windows hosting plan about a month ago and it was working until 6 days ago. Since then I am getting blank screen when hitting the URL that should point to the login screen. So the login screen is blank. No roundcube log is created within past 6 days and all log entries are older than 6 days. When I hit the installer URL I receive the following error: Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 262144 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 98304 bytes) in D:\sites\behbah\roundcube\program\include\main.inc on line 311 Connection with MySQL database and all user permissions are correct. Hi list We've been using roundcube with great success sor far. Having this configuration: 3 web servers, one of them acts as the database, the other 2 connect to it server1 -> mysql,apache server2 -> apache server3 -> apache What is the best practice to load-balance the database? I would like to avoid mysql-cluster if possible. The database seems fairly busy, as it is caching messages from 3 webservers Thanks! How To Remove Users From Database

When a user logs into Roundcube, it automatically creates entries for that user into my database (PostgreSQL) however when I delete a user from my mail server, how exactly do I delete all entries or traces of that user from my 'roundcube' database? I'm not sure how many tables user data is written to but do you guys have a command or script that removes all traces of a users database files? Hi, i tried to read my gmail mails from within roundcube, which is working great. The only bad thing is, that you can't use threaded view with gmail. Is there any plugin available, which turns that feature on ? I know, that the standard implementation of roundcube uses the functionality of the imap server to group conversations but it looks like gmail did not activate that feature on their servers. Dear Roundcube lovers We're proud to announce the next major release of the Roundcube webmail package: 0.6 is out now as beta. And it's packed with new features, some of them have been awaited for long time. So what's new? * A full-featured address book with rich contact information The address book UI was finally extended to store rich contact data including photos. We worked hard to create a flexible and intuitive UI to enter and manage the contact data. Along with that, import and export of vcards was improved to support all the new fields. If you have LDAP directories configured as address sources, you might review the configuration and map the new contact fields to the according LDAP attributes using the 'fieldmap' property. * Group support for LDAP address books While speaking of LDAP, the LDAP wrapper of Roundcube now also supports address groups thanks to the contribution of Andreas Dick. This requires some additional configuration which is described in the comments of config/main.inc.php.dist * ACL rights/namespace management plugin The new package includes a plugin which extends the folder manager to manage Access Control Lists according to RFC4314 and RFC2086. This allows one to share folders with other users if the IMAP server supports ACL. If there's a LDAP directory configured, the ACL manager even does auto-completion when adding a new user. * memcache support for session storage As an alternative to the SQL-based storage of user sessions, Roundcube 0.6 is now capable of using memcache for fast and redundant storage of session data. Set 'session_storage' and 'memcache_hosts' config options to enable it. * File uploads with progress display Using the features of the APC module, Roundcube can now display the progress of file uploads. This has to be enabled in config using the 'upload_progress' option. Make sure APC is available in PHP and that apc.rfc1867 is set in php.ini * Automated update process with database schema check Upgrading Roundcube installations has become an easy task with the new update shell script. Unpack the new package in some directory and then run bin/installto.sh <TARGETDIR> from there. TARGETDIR is the location of the Roundcube installation which you want to upgrade. The script then copies all files to the target directory and does all modifications necessary to get the database and config files up-to-date. * Exchange logo by config And last but not least, one can now set a customized logo by config without the necessity to create a new skin. We'd like to encourage all hosting providers to set the 'skin_logo' config option with an URL to their logo. This will hopefully clarify to your users, what service they're actually using. We registered an increased amount of support requests from users who don't understand that Roundcube is not a public service but that they have to contact their ISP for help. Of course there are also many improvements under the hood to make Roundcube faster, more stable and more secure. So go forth and install Roundcube 0.6 beta on your servers [1]. We recommend to test it on a separate environment and report bugs to our bug tracking system [2]. An improved and stabilized version will follow soon. A little note for skin developers: the new address book also brings the following new template objects which need to be placed in the HTML templates: contactphoto, contacthead, contactedithead, photouploadform. Running without auto-create and restricted identity management

Hi! I'm interested in running roundcube without user auto-creation. How, then, can I create the roundcube users? I couldn't find any documentation on this, only the installer informed me that I would have to do it if I did not enable auto creation. I'm also interested in restricting identity management for users so they can't change their email address. However, how can I actually set this up in the first place? Some of my users have Unix accounts so don't log in using full email address, so the email address needs to be set explicitly. Any help would be appreciated. Problem Importing Contacts from Google

I have the latest trunk version of roundcube (revision 5070) and I am having problems importing contacts from Google. I am having the issue using the regular import in the addressbook from vCard format and also with the google_contacts plugin. Basically what I am doing is exporting my contacts from Google into a vCard (.vcf) format file. Then in roundcube I go to the addressbook, click the import button, select the vCard file and import. The import results just say that 0 contacts were imported and nothing ever goes in the address book. I know that this worked in the past, but I am not sure why it is not working now. Default timezone for users

I have set in config/main.inc.php : $rcmail_config['timezone'] = 'America/New_York'; And /etc/php.ini: ; Defines the default timezone used by the date functions ; http://www.php.net/manual/en/datetime.configuration.php#ini.date.timezone date.timezone = "America/New_York" However, whenever a user logs into Roundcube (and gets a new record in the database with no user-specific preferences yet), they are still seeing the date/times of messages in the Inbox as UTC. I have to login as that user, go to their user-specific settings and set the timezone to the "(GMT -5:00) Eastern Time" choice in the drop-down menu for the timezone. Does Roundcube not understand 'America/New_York'? Hi, I have several domains hosted on my box. At the moment, I am logging on with username@domain scheme, but I'd like to be able to login with the username scheme. I've already configured the drop-down with the mail servers. How to decrease check-recent interval

Hi, I want to decrease the check-recent interval to 10s. I have looked around in the config file and set the following values: //sec $rcmail_config['keep_alive'] = 12; //min $rcmail_config['session_lifetime'] = 10; //sec $rcmail_config['min_keep_alive'] = 10; I also understood that the users preferences override these settings in the configfile so I changed the following as well. In programs/steps/settings/save_prefs.inc: 'keep_alive' => isset($_POST['_keep_alive']) ? intval($_POST['_keep_alive'])*10 : $CONFIG['keep_alive'], Changing 60 to 10 would, in my opinion, let me choose between 10, 30 och 50 seconds interval for check recent (Because the select-list in the gui has 3 values: 1,3 and 5). But this doesn't work for me. It still checks every 1min, even after restart of apache2. Is there anywhere else I need to change to get my desired interval?
