Problems with charset=ISO-8859-15

Hi Everybody: when I open a mail received in roundcube and with character encoding ISO-8859-15 (It's used for European people I think, to support the Euro symbol), show blank body mail. The subject is ok, but when I clicked on the mail, and open it, the body show nothing. Do You know how to solve this problem?? Thank You!! Luchux

Reverting back to 5.1.6 solved my problem. Now that I've found the pkg_create utilty, testing and reverting back will become eastier. Mind you, there are reports of people succesfully running roundcube on php 5.2.0, so you might try it on a test-box and then deploy if succesful. I found this tutorial to install into cpanel http://www.hostgeekz.com/guides/cPanel/64/Install_RoundCube_on_cPanel.htm I do not have shh access or anything like that on my server. I am stuck on installing the themes. Could you help me with that? I have access to file manager in control panel but thats it. Just some guidence would help. Login problem

I am having problems with logging in. I have just installed the package and followed the instructions, but I'm not clear on whether I need to modify the u% & p% values? I have browsed the user table and there is nothing in there either. I don't understand where it's supposed to get the username/password from. Is it from the POP3 Mailbox? At least, can someone give me a sample entry that I can manually insert to the MySQL table? Thanks, Tom

Problem solved I was using firefox 2.0. I tryied IE 6 and Firefox 1.5.0.7 and they showed plain text messages correctly. So empty cache, deleted cookies and stuff. it's working in my firefox 2.0 now. Hi guys Plain text messages, no matter if they come from other mail servers or my owns server, do not break lines. For example. If I check the original mail it shows like this: xxxxxxx yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz But if I see this message using roundcube it is shown like this: xxxxxxx yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz html messages are shown properly Anyone had this issue? save the sent mails

Hi Buddies: I have this problem. When some user send emails from the webmail, the send mail is stored in the webmail. But not in the send of the client mail that the user uses for download mail via pop or imap. This is not a problem, it's understandable by how work pop, imap and the webmail. But I need to have consistence between the mails sent via the webmail and the mail client. First of all I think in a php script, in the webmail page, to send the sender the email he has sent. According to the login source page there is an _auth value set dynamically, for this reason I can't create a login window on a static page of our website. Is there any solution ? Problems with spanish location settings

Hello buddies: I have roundcube running in my work. I have around 30 users, and all is working very good, but I have only one problem. When some account try to set the location (int the preferences), to spanish location (español), the messages in the inbox are with de sender and subject in blank. I think this is for the character encoding. I have the database created like the installation readme, and is working very good with the US location. Have u got some solution to the character encoding problem? I have been reading the forum for two weeks, and I only found a patch, from some french buddy, but I first want to ask here. Hi all, ive tried to create my own email list in hmail, but unfortunaly emails send by this list are rejected from mail server around the world with the following reason: Error Type: SMTP Error Description: Error message from remote server Message: 550 5.7.1 <richard(a)marnau.eu>... MX 10 'mail.marnau.eu.' [85.88.14.68] for <richard(a)marnau.eu> did not accept the empty address, <>, as required by RFC 821, 1123, 2505, and 2821. smtp settings are correct, there is a domain spezified. Any hints ? Problem with some attachments - 2

Hello, I noticed the same problems with showing the attachments as Tobias Pyndt Steinmann few days ago did. What i noticed is: - the problematic attachments in my case have long name ("more than 64 characters") - it does not matter the order of the attachments in the mail (first, last, somewhere in the middle) - I suspect that there might be a bug in parsing the filename of the attachment from the mail source (since long filenames usually expand to two filename lines in MIME) - in the index view, there is a correct attachment sign even It would be good if someone would report the bug to the developers in TRAC. cheers, Jernej BTW: registration in the forums does not work (mail was not sent to me :))

Empty message list

RoundCube fails to display messages in the message-list even though the number of new messages is shown in the page-title ("(11) RoundCube Webmail :: Spam") . This only seems to happen for my Spam folder. Verified the content of the folder with Thunderbird and there are 11 new msgs in the Spam box Today, one new message was shown in the Spam folder message-list, even though the number of unread messages in that folder was 11. After logging off and loggin on again, the message-list for Spam was empty again. Anyone any clue? Messages deleted when replied to or forwarded

Hi I am experiencing a rather big problem when using RoundCube Mail. Whenever I reply to and email or decide to forward one, the mail being replied to or forwarded is deleted. This is not exactly the behavior I am used to from other email clients and I have not been able to find it reported on this list previously. I am running the latest release in the Freebsd ports dated September 28. Has anyone else experienced the same problem? Best regards, Soeren

List of hosts

I know this is a silly/stupid question, but what is the syntax for specifying a list of hosts for rouncube? All it says in the config file is "a list" I want to specify two hosts: mail.mydomain.tld ssl://mail.mydoamin.tld:993 Yes, they are the same hosts, but the SSL connects to courier/mysql and the non ssl connects to uw-imap. $rcmail_config['default_host'] = 'mail.mydomain.tld ssl:// mail.mydoamin.tld:993' Didn't seem to work, and neither did $rcmail_config['default_host'] = 'mail.mydomain.tld, ssl:// mail.mydoamin.tld:993' Either the format is wrong, or it doesn't like the same host with multiple connection types. Also, is there anyway to specify exactly what is shown in the drop down list once I get the list format correct? That was it Rob! I changed the value from $rcmail_config['ip_check'] = TRUE; to $rcmail_config['ip_check'] = FALSE; and all is well. Thanks for assist. I installed roundcubemail-nightly-20060914.tar.gz last week on my Slackware 10.2 server and have been using it at home without issue. It's a refreshing change from SquirrelMail and I would like to eventually switch from SquirrelMail to RoundCube. I do seem to have a problem sustaining a session when I access RoundCube from work which is never a problem with SquirrelMail. A session with RoundCube lasts for about 1 minute then I get the message "Your session is invalid or expired". That happens if I just login and do nothing. I checked the main.inc.php file and have $rcmail_config['session_lifetime'] = 10;. The invalid session issue happens even faster if I try to compose an email and hit the send button. I tried a test from my neighbor's DSL which is through a different ISP on Qwest DSL so I don't think it's LAN vs. WAN related. The only difference I can think of is that I am behind a restrictive proxy server at work. I suspect that there is some type of keep alive function that is prevented from doing its job. Any suggestions on what the problem might be? TIA Stu

The xls files are all under 2M. In fact, one file originaly sent had about 67k and the file identified to save by roundcube had 2k. Maybe it's not about limits. Neither attachment with chinese filename at new mail composing nor forwarding a mail with chinese filename attachment can't be handled correctly. The chinese part in attachment filename will miss. And mail with a part of type "Content-Type: message/rfc822" can't be forwarded correctly. This part will miss while forwarding. I use version 0.1 beta2.

Hi, I recently discovered that I cannot download corectly certain attachments, like xls or wmv files for example. I tried with different extensions, .doc's or image files work fine. How does this happen: when opening the message I get the list of attachments where it describes corectly the name and extension of files. When clicked for saving on the local drive, the file name in the save window becomes 'mail' or 'mail2.2' of an unknown type and with a smaller size (I downloaded it with Outlook Express and compared files). That's what happened with the xls file; the wmv file size appeared corectly (about 2M) but the name was still 'mail2.2'. >From reading the sources of Roundcube I think the problem is when it tries to identify the mime parts of the message (mimeDecode.php). Am I correct? Do I need to upgrade some library or specific application? Thanks a lot, jax

IMAP Regression w/ SVN version vs 0.1_Beta_1

Hi All, I installed Roundcube last week on V0.1Beta_1 then found some issues with it(http://trac.roundcube.net/trac.cgi/ticket/132 7068), which prompted me to upgrade to the SVN Version. After I upgraded it, It will not load emails from my Imap server (Cyrus-imapd) which has >25K of messages in one folder. The logs will there is a timeout of 120seconds of script execution time. This issue is not present in the 0.1_Beta_1 version of roundcube. is this a known issue?

problem with installation

Hi, I followed all the instructions and was able to install Roundcube just fine. However, it does not let me login. The database settings seem to all work. I tried logging in as username/password and also as username(a)fas.harvard.edu and password. I also tried another (secure) mail server and had the same problem. I suspect that it has something to do with the communication between Roundcube and the IMAP server - but the error message above was too cryptic for me to investigate any further. Hi We have recently started using roundcube for our business email, through the cpanel used to set up our website. However, when we log in to check our emails, there is often a nimber in the panel on the left next to the inbox, indicating that we have new mail, but the only way to get the new mail into the inbox to read it is by clicking on refresh or inbox or cjeck mail a few times beofre it is there to be read. There is also often a long delay in messages actually coming into inbox, i.e. we had a couple sent on friday, but we only received them in our inbox this afternoon? DO you have any ideas why this may be? Rich Text Editor

I would like to suggest that some other rich text editor be used in roundcune other than tinymce. Tinymce takes too much time to load and somehow doesnt go with the roundcune interface. Today I was browsing the osx86 forums (http://forum.insanelymac.com) and thought that the rich text editor used by them would go perfectly with roundcube. Any comments?

just discovered this extraordinary looking application ! i currently have a debian server running postfix and courier-imap and using mysql as user database ... are there any issues i'll encounter with this installation? anything special i need to know before attempting the installation? do i need to uninstall sqwebmail first? I am evaluating RoundCube and SquirrelMail I would like some feedback on both before installing... RoundCube supports multiple domains... Is it possible to set a parameter so a user can have their domain filled in when navigating to the login screen from their domain? Are there any bugs that may be showstoppers. The only folders that I can subscribe to are those which belong to my own user account, even though Cyrus IMAP has given me permissions to access other mailboxes. The users table in the RoundCube database has a separate col for login aliases. Unfortunately there's not UI to fill it in, you have to set it manually using your favorite database admin tool. In case you have specified a virtuser file in your config ($rcmail_config['virtuser_file']) the e-mail address will be looked up on the first login (with your cryptic user name) and will then be added automatically to the alias col. Virtuser files are text files that have an email -> username pair on each line. Regards, Thomas P.S. I am currently testing revision 346 and found these bugs: 1. Spell check doesn't work with html messages. It is greyed out (disabled) when in main.inc.php, the value is set to true for enable spellcheck. 2. If enable spell check is set to false, the spell check icon, though faded out still appears on the compose screen, whereas setting enable spellcheck as false should completely remove this icon. 3. On the save identity page, if HTML signature is clicked, the Rich Text Area that opens up is hardly visible, its background and border being the same color as the rest of the page. One has to assume that this area is meant to write your signature and once you write in it, only then a scroll bar appears which makes it somewhat separate from the rest of the form. 4. In Internet Explorer 6, when a HTML message is composed, the signatures are not inserted into the message automatically. There is no such problem is Firefox 1.5 5. In Firefox 1.5, clicking on some of the TinyMCE icons such as smilies opens up a pop up window, which cannot be re sized and whose content don't fit into the screen that has opened. There is no way to scroll and hence the content is cut. In case of smilies, I can only see one column of smilies. There is no such problem in Internet Explorer 6. These are the bugs which I found out in my initial testing of revision 346 of the RoundCube SVN. I will post more if I find any. The developers are requested to see if they can reproduce these errors and if they can, try to fix them in future revisions. Regards, Nipun Jain.

I am unable to get quotas to work with cPanel. The Disk Usage always says unknown or unlimited but is not able to tell the exact usage out of the given space alloted. Is there any way I can fix it? Login from a Seperate Page

For a variety of reasons, I'd like to create my own login page. I have found experimentally that it is insufficient to just duplicate the Form tag from the Round Cube login page on my own page as shown below. It seems to be realted to cookies, as it takes me back to the Round Cube login page and flashes an error saying my browser doesn't accept cookies. Remove Junk folder

Hi all, Installed RC last week and it looks very promissing :-) Currently I'm ussing a heavely modified Squirrelmail setup but would like to easely upgrade and not have to add all the plugins all the time. There is a junkmail folder automaticly created when logging on, I don't use this folder as all 'Junk' messages are placed in the Spam folder. From the folders menu I can't unsubscribe this Junk folder. Second issue I have with this is that in some translations the Junk folder is renamed in Spam which is confusing as I then have two folders with the same name. Keep up the good work !!

Hi all i install roundcube to work as a quarantine interface for our global virus and spam folders, but i have some specific problems about this: - i need to forward the emails as attach for the bayes filter, forward inline doesnt work as its needed... Issues with Spellchecker

Hi All, Using beta2 and am having an issue with the spellcheck feature. I have enabled both the OpenSSL and Sockets extensions in IIS 6, and have verified with phpinfo(); that they are loaded. However I still seem to be getting these PHP Warning messages which according to the RoundCube FAQ would indicate that I don't have these extensions enabled; PHP Warning: fsockopen(): no SSL support in this build in X:\roundcubemail\program\steps\mail\spell.inc on line 34 PHP Warning: fsockopen(): unable to connect to www.google.com:443 in X:\roundcubemail\program\steps\mail\spell.inc on line 34 Are there any other PHP settings that could be preventing the RoundCube spellchecker from working?

beta2 unusable for me

Beta1 was the first version I installed. Today I wanted to upgrade to beta2 but went back to beta1 because of this: When I login I see the mail in my Inbox, but when I click on another folder I don't see any mail and even when I go to the Inbox again I don't see my mail anymore. I have to click on the "mail" symbol to see my mail again. Another issue I experienced was that the search box was somewhat behind the roundcube logo what rendered it more or less unusable, but that wouldn't have prevented me from using beta2. I upgraded my installation in two ways: 1) following the instructions from the UPGRADING and 2) replacing the whole roundcube folder with beta2 and editing the config files again. The issues occurred either way. The only thing I didn't touch was the database, but the database structure didn't change from beta1 to beta2, did it? I just wanted to let you know about this. If you need more information for fixing this or whatever, please let me know. So far I will stick to beta1 and hope that the next release will be less buggy. Can't select several contacts

Hello, Since I updated roundcube to the latest version through svn, one of our user reported that now we can't select several contacts from the Address Book and then click on "Send message to". However this was possible in a previous version, and, indeed, I confirm that this was possible before. User Issues

Hello I am having an issue here, I have a server with several different users and domains. (ie, test.com, raretest.com, judgeelect.com) all my mail boxes are on the same server. When someone from any of the domains regardless of their alias login they get the raretest.com alias as what there sending from and its not reading their IMAP account information from the server? Any suggestions. Details: mbox: - adsupport alias - support(a)domain.com when they login, they get --> adsupport(a)domain.com when they recive they get support(a)domain.com when they send they get adsupport(a)domain.com why is that happening, why is that when the user logins in, its creating their own alias and not reading the imap server?

Customising RoundCubeMail

Hello, I'm using roundcubemail for a while and up to now it is really one of the best I ever installed. We're a ISP company in switzerland offering one of the first green hosting and email and I was looking for a Webmail for our customer. After a lot of tests with IMP, Neomail, etc. I finally found RC and just adopted it :-) Now, I would need some customisation in the webmail (more than changing the skin). I would need mainly two things: - a part where users can send SMS (quota and configuration is managed in a postgresql database). This part could include a place where the user can change his cellphone number. An idea would also be that the contact list would include the gsm number, then a user could send an sms using the list of his contacts. - a part where users can change their pop3/imap password and de/activate a vacation (also managed in a postgresql database) Of course this is very specific, but I wanted to know if it could have some interests for other RC users before I try to implement that. Hi again, As usual, the latest release contained some nasty bugs. Sending mails using PHP's mail() function completely ignored the message headers. This and some charset issues are now fixed. I updated the beta-release package in the download section. Because many files are involved in this bugfix, I did not create a patch file but I rather suggest to download the beta-version again and replace index.php and all contents of the program folder. Empty Folders

Wrong reply address in Identities

Hi all! I just instaled roundcube from FreeBSD ports. All works fine but when I login in a account I have in Identities like email "username@Array" Ie: the user "admin" have a email "admin@Array" This "username@Array" is used like reply address for my accounts (this is a fake address) I can change it manually but is not the better way to do ... Changing HELO

Hi, I just installed Roundcube on my linux postfix system. Because of spam I have some very restrictive on the system, this rule is preventing RoundCube from sending mail smtpd_helo_restrictions = reject_invalid_hostname, reject_unknown_hostname, reject_non_fqdn_hostname, permit This is because when roundcube connects to my smtp server it uses localhost for the HELO command Jul 24 11:20:13 neei postfix/smtpd[1111]: NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from localhost.localdomain[127.0.0.1]: 450 <localhost>: Helo command rejected: Host not found; from=<me(a)neei.uevora.tld> to=<me(a)neei.uevora.tld> proto=ESMTP helo=<localhost> How can I change the configuration so RoundCube send neei.uevora.tld with the HELO command? Can't delete mails

Hi ! I'm new on this list and with the use of roundcube... I just installed it yesterday : install OK, login OK, send OK, receive OK. But I can't delete messages. I've read such a story in the archives, but the bug has been closed because SVN version should have fixed it. Problem : I installed yesterday THE freshly downloaded SVN version, and the bug is here... I have an idea : my host provides me a pop server, with an IMAP "layer" for PHP. And my host doesn't provide the folders functionnality. Could this be the problem ? If there's no possibility to create the trash folder, the mails aren't moved, and they stay in INBOX ? Hello, I'm new to the list, I've looked at the last couple of months of archive information and haven't notice anyone else having this problem. So I though I would ask if anyone else has run across this problem. I downloaded the latest public SVN version of roundcubemail and I managed to get it install to the point where i get something to show up in my browser. I've tried a few previous versions of roundcube and gotten error message so i would consider what i've got a much better success. When I load the login page, i get the following message in the page: SERVICE CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE! Rich Text Editor

I am using the latest SVN release of rouncube and wanted to add HTML editor facility fo composing mails. I integrated tinyMCE Rich Text Editor with Roundcube. It correctly shows the required toolbars in the compose text area. But the problem is that, when I compose a HTML message using tinyMCE, then on sending the mail, RoundCube asks if I want to send the message without any text whereas the text does exist in the message body. If I choose to ignore this message and send the mail anyway, then I do receive the email sent at the recipient's address, but in plain ASCII, that is with all the HTML source shown instead of a HTML message. Outgoing SSL problem

Hello, I am trying to connect to an OpenLDAP server from Roundcube using SSL. However, the SSL connection is never properly initialized due to error 81 from the LDAP server. If I try openssl s_client -connect ldap.example.com:636 -showcerts -state -ssl3 -CAfile cacerts.pem then creating SSL connection works just fine (verify return code is 0). In this case the server certificate is self-signed and is included in cacerts.pem. I wonder if there is any mechanism in Roundcube or PHP to deal with self-signed server certificates when using LDAP->connect/bind? I would expect a way to introduce server certificates of trusted peer servers (such as the LDAP server above). How can this be done in Roundcube? If this is a PHP/Apache-level issue, then please let me know. WBR, --jari

Single User mode.

Hi, let me start by saying how good RoundCube is, it fits my needs exactly. I have 1 small tweak, that I am wondering if it's possible. I want my installation of RoundCube to skip the logon screen, and go straight to a single account inbox. This may sound likea strange request, but I'll explain. I host RoundCube my for own personal use, on my own server, and I use apache's security to protect the server contents. As it stands, I have to log onto the server using Apache's logon, then log on again to the webmail. I wish to hardcode the last part of the process. How can I acheieve this? Thanks.

I'm currently trying SVN 269. Everything works fine. But I have noticed that the mail.gif file was not working in my copy and I had to replace it from an older version. Maybe my SVN update was corrupt or something. Coming to the point, I would (again) request someone to help me on a issue which I have been unable to sort out. I want to make the email field in the new / edit identity page as hidden and auto populate it with the username of the user logged in. I tried editing edit_identity.inc file but any changes I made to the file (such as putting value = xxx) made the edit identity page blank in roundcube. Can anyone help me with this? Regards.

dbmail issue?

Hello I got RC installed I can see my folders and the subject line of each message but I can't get them to open. I have used the demo so I know I got to double click. Also I can't delete any messages. Am I doing something wrong here? I am using Squirrel Mail and I have tried V webmail as well as IlohaMail and had no problems. Email me direct if you need to see this. I'll send you a test user name and pass. I would love to get this working. By the way, how does your spellchecker work? I speak 3 languages and this would come in very handy. Where do you get the data from for the spellchecker. I know I don't have all those installed on my server. -- Demi

hi, I have managed to sort out the blank pages it was the db connection. when ever i try to login i get invalid login. I have multiple domains for email but are using roundcube only for one. it seams that i that i may be missing a settng as the file below varies from the installation instructions. especially this part: The next two settings (SMTP User and SMTP Password) need to be set (if you want to send from Roundcube). I've installed roundcube also I've install russian language pack, but I can't change language to russian. Hi folks First of all i'd like to say RC is the ebst webmail i've worked with til now. So, switching to it i needed to let my users the freedom of logging in only with the first part of their e-mail addy. It's not possible by default. Anyway after searching everywhere possible (less forums since they are not working at this moment) i got to look into the code myself. Therefore i decided to make use of a main.inc.php variable $rcmail_config['mail_domain']. umlaut characters sometimes not properly displayed in Subject

Some emails with umlaut characters ( ä ö ü ß etc.) display only a question mark where the umlaut character should be. The same emails are properly displayed in Thunderbird, so maybe this is a RoundCube problem. Here is the header of such an email (some fields deleted). It should display "Löschfunktion" but only displays "L?schfunktion"

RoundCube does not work with shared folders

Our company is using an IMAP mail server with many shared folders (for example, all email going to info(a)mycompany.domain goes into a shared "info" folder which is visible to every employee). RoundCube displays only the private folders, not the shared folders. They are not listed in the "Folders" tab in the settings page. If you wish, I can set up a demo IMAP mail server having such shared folders to help you debugging this issue. change request: rearrange next / previous mail buttons in email window

Hi all, I have just installed RoundCube from svn and was using it for a few minutes. I was wondering why there were no next / previous message button in the email view window, only a fat green left arrow that takes me back to the email folder (I was assuming it meant "previous message"). After quite some time I discovered tiny next / previous buttons at the very bottom of the email window. This is rather counter-intuitive. The next / previous buttons should be in the top icon tool bar where all the other important stuff is. The buttons could be arranged like this: - a green left and right arrow: when clicked, these go to the previous and next email in the current folder - a green up arrow: when clicked, the current folder is displayed (same action as current left arrow) cheers, Arne

No Trash Folder

I am currently trying out Release 260 of the SVN. The problem is when a newly created user logs into rc, only inbox is shown (in beta all three folders got created by default). Now when a mail is sent, the Sent folder is created but when I try to delete a mail, it gives an error. Only after creating a folder manually am I able to delete any mail. Is this behaviour normal? Shouldn't the Trash folder also get created when a mail is to be deleted. Now I am not much familiar with php but afaik, there must be some code that is used in creating the folders that is used in the folders tab of the settings. Where is that code in the rc files and can I use that code to auto create these 3 folders for a new user ( I have a php script that creates a new user, I can put this code there). Hello, I want my users to be able to send me a feedback (on the webmail) directly by clicking button in the taskbar. So I added a line into skins/MY_SKIN/includes/taskbar.html: <roundcube:button command="compose" label="feedback" class="button- feedback" /> into skins/MY_SKIN/common.css a.button-feedback { background-image: url(images/buttons/feedback.gif); } And it is sort of working now, but I would like to prefill an email adress and a subject on the composition page - is that possible to do through the file taskbar.html? i've finally got my roundcube working, sending and receiving mails from the internet, prior to installing roundcube, postfix has tls and sasl authentication and was integrated with dspam and clamav using amavisd-new, however when roundcube was installed as the webmail client, i can no longer see from the maillogs the mails being scanned before being sent and before accepting for delivery. is this normal? or roundcube totally bypass them? TIA

Hi All, I currently set various IMAP flags via my sieve script e.g. all mails sent directly to me are marked as "Personal". Thunderbird interprets this and colours any messages with this label. Are there any plans to implement this sort of feature in roundcube? i.e. a set of setable filters that check for a specific IMAP label and then colours the message a specific colour? This is different from IMAP flags which can only be on or off and which roundcube supports. I've searched the forum (and tried to search the list archive, how about a search on lists.roundcube.net?) but not found anything. Sorting by date messed up

Hi, I recently started using Roundcube (nice work!) and it has worked fine. However, just a few days ago I decided to migrate from courier-imap to dovecot. After some messing around with namespaces it now appears to be working fine, but now roundcube doesn't sort messages by date properly anymore. I can't see any logic in the sorting, it seems to be just random. The problem exists in all my email folders, not just INBOX. In my imap-client Evolution sorting by date works correctly. In squirrelmail it also displays correctly. I have tried to enable/disable Pretty Dates but the sorting doesn't change. first off all i would like to thank all the people who developed roundcube, it's a great webmail application i've seen, if not the best. so without further ado, i would like to ask a very newbie question, how would i create users for roundcube? what interface will i use? will phpMyAdmin do? i tried logging in to my newly install roundcube by using the user created during the fresh install of my freebsd6.1 box, but i always get "login failed" message. is roundcube using maildir? my postfix and dovecot was configured to use maildir. TIA

Hi, I find Roundcube to be a great mail client, but one thing bores me in daily use : there is no folder management, no way to create, delete, rename.. folders within RC. Does anyone know when it will be implemented ? Thanks in advance. Simon

Folders in CVS and New Identity

I am using the CVS of 5th may and have a couple of questions. When a new user account is created then when that user logs into his inbox using the cvs version, only the inbox is subscribed, the sent and the trash folder are not. This creates a problem when deleting messages which gives an error and the message doesnt get deleted. However, sending an email does creat the sent folder. There is no such problem in the 0.1 beta. When a new account is created and the user logs in to rc beta, all three folders are there. Secondly, is there any way to auto populate the email field in the new identity page of roundcube? I want to automatically field the email field while creating a new identity with the username (i.e. the email address) of the user logged in. Is it possible? Hope someone comes up with a solution. Regards, Nipun Jain. PS: I noticed that cvs for rc has been discontinued in favor of svn. But how to download the latest svn? I could not find any tarball or any other archive in the svn tree, only the individual files. So do I have to download all the rc files individually from the svn?

Refresh issue on the 05 05 2006 CVS that's not a cache setting?

Good morning list, I installed the 0505CVS a few days ago, so far to excellent reviews (especially the spellchecker)... however, clicking to individual folders does not show that folders contents -- including going BACK to the inbox, it shows as empty. I remember this in the alpha days as being a cache issue, as I assumed -- so I turned Cache to false in the main.inc.php file -- didn't help. I turned the cache life to 10 seconds, didn't help (though I figured irrelevant after I turned off the cache, figured it'd be worth a shot). I deleted all the mysql databases, and reinstalled it again and tried it, but still no viewing. Is this something that others are seeing? The beta doesn't seem to have this issue, so I can roll it back, but just inquiring. Thanks, any suggestions as to areas I'm missing is appreciated.

Hei, After installing the latest CVS I got a big problem: When entering my account I see the mails in my inbox. But when I select one of the mailboxen (e.g. sent) it don't show me the mails in it. The same when I click inbox again. Do anybody know about this bug?

Timezone problem?

Hei, I have a problem with the timezone. I'm from Denmark - +1:00 GTM. I the main.inc.php the timezone is set to 1, and the same in the personal settings. But everytime when I recive an email the time is allways a hour too late. Eg. if somebody are sending me an email at 9:00 I see 8:00 in my inbox. If I set the timezone to 2 it works, but I don't like that solution. The clock on my Windows Server 2003 are correct - and timezone 1. PS. Sorry for my english. postgres/roundcube configuration fix

i recently installed roundcube using postgresql as my backend and developed the blank page problem that i saw several times in the forums: DB Error: DB Error: connect failed in /var/www/html/roundcube/program/include/rcube_db.inc on line 97 postgresql, in my setting, was running on the same box that my web server was running. i knew the connection worked fine because i have a substantial codebase that was working fine. however, i wasn't using pear. i was connecting via unix sockets. thus, my connection string in the config file had to look like: $rcmail_config['db_dsnw'] = 'pgsql://username:password@unix(/tmp)/databasename'; the @unix(/tmp) was the key. hopefully, this will help someone in the future. mike __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Our installation of roundcube has not been showing attachments in it's messages -- we've been using it for quite sometime, I have no idea how long it's been going on, or even if it's been going on forever, though I've not personally been having issues. I don't see this as a bug listed anywhere, unless I'm missing something -- any known issues with attachments not showing up, when they're clearly in the message? I've tested ccing mac mail and thunderbird users at the same time, with roundcube not displaying attachments. Thank you!

sending mail - your session is expired or invalid

I have worked through most issues thus far and would like to offer this to our customers as a clean front end. However, I can't get past sending mail. When I try to send an email I get a message at the top that says: Your session is expired or invalid And it logs me out. My setup is Postfix run with a MySql backend. Customizing Login: Tips?

I have to start by saying, while I've only been looking at the code for a day (0.1 beta), RoundCube appears really well-written. That puts it in about the top 5% of the hundreds of PHP-based programs I've worked with (and had to heavily modify). I'm hoping for some tips on creating a custom login so that my users only need to login once for the website and RoundCube rather than twice. I know RoundCube is beta, but it's better than v.1010 of a few programs I know. I'd like to avoid as much as possible setting up a login that has to be re-written too often due to updates in RoundCube code. Problem moving mails and more (CVS)

I installed the CVS of 5th May a couple of days back. Like the rest, I faced the problem of no mail showing when switching folders. Hence I applied the patches by Brian (thanks!) and it got working. But now I have noticed a few more bugs. Those are: 1. When I create a new user account in my mail server and log in to the CVS of 5ht may, I only see the inbox folder, the Sent and the Trash folders are not there. This doesnt happen in the 0.1 beta which shows all the three folders on the first login of a new account. 2. Another problem is with moving the mails. In the CVS, I am unable to move mails from one folder to another. I mean when I drag drop to another folder, the message disappears from that folder, but when I switch to the folder where I moved the mail, it's not there. And reverting back to the original folder shows that the mail is still there. The beta has no such problem with moving mails between the folders. Anyone else facing these problems and / or guide me to the solution?

I have been using the 0.1 beta ever since its release and decided to give the latest CVS a shot yesterday. So I downloaded the CVS of 5th May and edited the config files, set up the databases, ran mysql queries on them. But when I open the url of my CVS installation, I get this error: SERVICE CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE! Error No. 1f4) I have checked the logs and it shows some error regarding line 104 in rcube_db.inc. Blank Page Problem

Hello, I was trying to install RoundCube and went through the install guide. Everything seems to of gone ok. I get the login screen, but after logging in I get a blank page. It does create the records for the user in the database (pgsql), but the page is just blank no matter what I do, nothing in the source. There are also no files in the logs directory (its chmod'd to 777). Any Ideas?

My host (Dreamhost) uses aliases to tie mailbox usernames to the actual email address, usually something like: mailbox m123456 = user(a)domain.com. When using the standard Squirrel Mail installation at Dreamhost, I can login with my email address alias (user(a)domain.com) and password instead of using my mailbox username (m123456). With RoundCube I cannot. I must use the mailbox username (m123456) instead of the alias. I'm sure this is because I am logging into the IMAP server directly through the mail host:ports (like I would in Outlook, for example) verses using the host controlled Squirrel Mail utility. There are two variables in the main.inc.php config file that I think I may help in this situation. The variables are: 'virtuser_file' and 'virtuser_query'. However, I'm not entirely sure of the usage of those variables and I cannot seem to find any documentation for them either. Basically, are the two variables named above an option to get around this issue? If so, how would I go about implementing them in my RoundCube install? Thank you, DaveE

Replace "Junk" by "spam"

In the code of Roundcube, there are many references to a folder named Junk but I don't see any such folder. When I create a folder named Junk, it gets a special icon but it doesn't server any purpose (no filtering). Now my spam assasin delivers junk mail to a folder named "spam" (this folder is created when spam arrives for the first time). Roundcube recognises this folder but doesn't subscribe to it, unless the user explicitly ticks it in the Settings Panel. Now how do I display the "spam" folder as default (like Trash etc) for all the users and how do I assign it the special "Junk" folder icon?

Cound not move the message

Hello, I installed this webmail on a courier-imap on a PostgreSQL backend, and it works perfectly. But, after 2 days, I can´t move the messages to the trash. I checked the permissions to the directory, files, I create the Trash directory... and nothing... The config file was verified, and i had set a blank space on Trash, and the message is deleted directly... Any help? Sorry my poor english. Best regards,

can't sort by arrival

I'm having a real hard time making RC sort my messages by arrival instead of date. I tried putting: $rcmail_config['message_sort_col'] = 'internaldate'; and even $rcmail_config['message_sort_col'] = 'arrival'; I even tried to put it in upper case, but still with no luck. Any ideas? I download roundcubemail-0.1beta.tar.gz following the link on Roundcube.net, after decompress it on Windows 2000, I get these following files. Hi all, just made cvs install on a debian box but can’t deal with a problem. User only see INBOX folder listed, no SENT and no TRASH. Also when try to delete a message there´s an error “message cannot be moved” Any Clue?

One of the most important features I would miss is "Fetch Mail". I'm managing several domains and currently I'm fetching all of my mail to one mailbox after I log in. In the configuration I specify which folder to put the fetched mail for the particular account. Another important feature is when replying to list email I have an option to reply to the list as well as the ones already supplied. When I Reply-All to list mail the client doesn't obey the Reply-To rule and will add every address to the list of recepients, including the list. This has the benefit of allowing you to reply to an individual without hassle if the list is set to munge the Reply-To. -- The dashes should be optional. I have UW-IMAP. I have existing folders that I don't want to use or convert. In my test the Inbox is displayed but no existing folders. I'm sure this is probably configuration but any advice would be appreciated. I have added the password using phpmyadmin. What make me curious is that round cube doesn't even try to connect on mysql. What do you mean is not avaible? Hey, it still not working. I have enabled logging on mysql but i can't see any connection attempt from roundcube. PHP error when opening some mimed mails

Hello, When opening some MIME messages (generally with attachments or something like this) I get a "zero sized reply" from the webserver, caused by a memory allocation error of php4 module. The error is reported in the /logs/errors file of RC; here's the transcript: [10-Apr-2006 14:25:34] PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 1419154 bytes) in /data/.home/www/horus.ch/www/roundcubemail/program/lib/Mail/mimeDecode.php on line 388 It happens in the mimeDecode.php file at this line: if (preg_match("/^(.*?)\r?\n\r?\n(.*)/s", $input, $match)) { return array($match[1], $match[2]); } So, it looks like the perl-like regular expression on a too long message needs too much memory and it somehow dies. LDAP support

My question is regarding the LDAP support in address book: I've seen some functions about changing entries in the server and also the possibility to bind with login / password. Does this mean that one day (hopefully soon) there will be full support for an address book in an LDAP server ? I'm asking this because I'm wondering if I have to write an interface to update contacts in my LDAP directory or if I can wait for RC to implement it. I may patch RC to implement it myself but that would take time because I don't know well the architecture of the project (for now) and I have no experience in PHP/Ajax... (I'm a Perl coder). Disable Email field in Identities

This is with regard to the spoofed mail problem I had posted earlier. I have (after getting my hosting account re enabled) found that if you set your email id to an existing email at your domain, then you can easily spoof your emails as coming from that id. This however is not true for email ids that don't exist on your domain or are outside your domain. So a simple solution would be to disable the E-mail text field in the Identity section of Roundcube. Can anyone guide me as how to accomplish the same? I know it would still be possible to send such spoofed mails using an email client but most of my users only use webmail, and so I want this spoofing to be not possible through webmail.

Some unscruplous person(s) using my webmail has set their reply to address as info(a)mydomain.com and / or administrator(a)mydomain.com in their identity and is / are using that identity to send email to other people on their webmail account at mydomain.com. Now the recipient gets fooled by this spoofed mail as roundcube (and maybe other web based email) displays the sender as the spoofed email id (i.e. info(a)mydomain.com or administrator(a)mydomain.com) and not the actual email id used to send the email. I myself have received a couple of such mails and was perplexed to see to get an email from administrator(a)mydomain.com as I am the admin, and my email is admin(a)mydomain.com (administrator(a)mydomain.com does not exist). I tried to figure out the actual email id by reading the email headers but it didnt show the actual email id, only showed the spoofed email id as administrator(a)mydomain.com (or info(a)mydomain.com). Now is this supposed to work this way? I mean setting the reply to field to any email address in roundcube enables one to spoof the sender's email id? Is there any way to disable the "Reply To" field in roundcube so that users are unable to send spoofed mails?

Shared IMAP folder subscriptions

Hello Is there something to configure to allow roundcube to support shared IMAP folders? We use a lot of these and I cant seem to get roundcube to show them, I have tried in personal settings under the subscriptions tab, but it only seems to list the folders for the specific user. It's probably because your server is on the internet and open for relay (not a roundcube problem)...if you haven't locked it down others may be using it to send spam among other things. Hello, I activated the safe_mode for php and I then applied the patch given in the bug track of roundcubemail (applied manually). However I still have some problems uploading attachments. When the file is uploaded it can't access it as the script is not owned by the webserver user (www-data). Here's the error: move_uploaded_file(): SAFE MODE Restriction in effect. The script whose uid is 2152 is not allowed to access /tmp/rcmAttmnt8pfjc9 owned by uid 33 in [...]roundcubemail/program/steps/mail/upload.inc on line 42, referer: [...]/roundcubemail/?_auth=4107d2f552680f686d1298e287301ea5cd6572b4&_task=mail&_action=compose Am I doing something wrong ? Time change and weird time warp problem

The time change (add an hour) did not take with Round Cube even though system time updated. Somewhere in the code I need to fix? Also, I'm seeing weird timewarp issues with certain users. Their date shows up as 1969 in my inbox. What causes this? -- There is no "I" in team, but there is "Iran" in "Uranium"..

Only getting IMAP text?

Hey everyone, I'm trying to get this going from CVS on Debian with exim4. I log in, and the user is created, but all I get to see is the text below. I'm using ssl, if that has anything to do with it. Is this a setting I'm missing, or something else? Hey All, So far, I'm liking this RoundCube mail client. I would like to know though, what do I need to do to get the LDAP Address Book functionality to work on Debian? I've got roundcube working, but each attempt to use the LDAP Directory search results in an error in /var/www/roundcube/log/errors that says : [30-Mar-2006 21:15:58 -0500] LDAP Error: No ldap support in this installation of php. in on line 0 I've installed libapache2-mod-php4 and php4-ldap from the debian repositories. I've also used pear to download and install DB_ldap2 and Net_ldap (both beta versions) and I still get this error. I've looked at the file program/include/rcube_ldap.inc and the error is generated by line :47 that says : if (!function_exists('ldap_connect')) raise_error(array("type" => "ldap", "message" => "No ldap support in this installation of php."), TRUE); I don't know PHP at all or I'd be able to help here, but I'm lost. How to hide some folders using Kolab server

Hi, this is my first post in this list. I use Kolab server that is a groupware with Cyrus, so the users have special folders for storing contacts, tasks, and calendar in XML format. Because of it, using RoundCube I see these IMAP folders that should be hiden. Is there any way to hide them? Of course I cannot unsuscribe from them, I need to be suscribed for use them in Kontact. I've read the entiry main configuration but only found the following: // only list folders within this path $rcmail_config['imap_root'] = ''; But I don't know how to use it, and in fact I don't know if this the solution to my problem. Move spam to SPAM folder

My mail server has a spam guard configured in such a way that it introduces the word spam in the subject of the mail it classifies as spam. I was wondering if it was possible to have a default SPAM folder for every user and to move the messages having SPAM in their subject automatically to this folder.

Refresh INBOX

Hey People. I'm having a problem with the listed columns on the webmail. On the main.inc.php file you can set the columns that will be displayed. Like this: // these cols are shown in the message list // available cols are: subject, from, to, cc, replyto, date, size, encoding $rcmail_config['list_cols'] = array('subject', 'from', 'date', 'size'); But I dont want to view the "from" message on the Sent folder, because ALL messages on the Sent folder have Kico Zaninetti as sender. It is fine otherwise, but one my qmail system, which seems to have more strict rules about headers disregards this mail and sends back with error message. http://qmail-scanner.sourceforge.net/FAQ.php (question 21) Thunderbird can send mails OK from this postfix system, so problem is on sender client side. Charset and language question

Hello, I have installed version 0.1 beta of RoundCubeMail few days ago after looking for a nice Webmail for months. It suits pretty well to my needs, so a big thanks to the developers for the nice work. However I've some problems with charset and language. All messages encoded in ISO-8859-1 (latin1) don't display the accentuated characters correctly. Apparently the system is UTF-8 based, so the iso-8859-1 encoded messages are converted to UTF-8. However it doesn't work (or I misconfigured something). I checked the wrongly displaying messages and they have the content-type set correctly (charset=iso-8859-1). With the language, once installed I tried to change the language to french when connected as user, but the setting is not kept, that is when I select french, the setting page is in french, but then if I click on the "email" button for example, or any other one, the site comes back to english. I checked the database and language is set to 'fr'. Am I doing something wrong ? Additionnaly, is there also the possibility to set "default" language to french for all new users ? I want to merge both my professional & personal email accts into one program. Can I do this with roundcube? If so, can I also draft an email using either my personal &/or professional email address? Upon reading more about the services that you offer, am I correct in reading that you cannot send emails with attachments, and that you do not have spell check as of yet? Error loading login page

I have been using roundcube for a while now and all has been well. I just updated my server and now I am getting the message. Fatal error: Call to undefined function session_set_save_handler() in /home/familychat/roundcube/program/include/session.inc on line 152 PHP was upgraded, but I didn't change anything. Any help on this would be great. Let me know if you need more info. RoundCube and Exim4 on Debian Sarge

Hi all! Just installed RoundCube to try it out. So far it looks good, runs fast, and feels smooth. One problem. When I send mail, RoundCube says the mail has been sent, but the mail never arrives. An examination of my Exim4 log shows the issue: 2006-03-21 01:27:02 SMTP protocol synchronization error (next input sent too soon: pipelining was advertised): rejected "MIME-Version: 1.0" H=localhost [ 127.0.0.1] next input="Date: Tue, 21 Mar 2006 1:27:02 -0500\r\nFrom: xxxxx <xxxxx@>\r\nTo: xxxxxx(a)gmail.com\r\nSubject: Test 3\r\nMessage-ID: < fcba0dbf860c58463ee731c15a075a0c@loc" Exim4 is working fine for sending other mail. I can send mail through it with Mutt for example. It recieves mail fine too. Anyone seen this problem? RoundCube does not save Personal Settings

RoundCube is fantastic. However, when users set personal settings (language, default identity, etc.) it does not save them. The next time they login it all is back to default. Any hint? Where does RoundCube store the prefs? Regards R.

Attachment problem

I'm having a problem with attachment files bigger then 1Mb. 1) When I try to send more than 1Mb, I got a blank screen. 2) When I receive a mail with more than 1Mb attachment file, I just can't open it. My php.ini is configured to send 10Mb attachments and I have modified the htaccess on roundcube root dir to 10Mb too. Version 0.1 stable. Does anyone can give a hint about what is hapening? SMTP Error: Failed to add recipient

Hi All, I recently finished the Roundcube setup. I was getting a couple of errors, when I try to reply or send mail. The first error had something to do with permissions of logs and temp directory. I fixed it, thanks to some post in the list. The second error is: SMTP Error in /srv/www/htdocs/webmail/program/steps/mail/sendmail.inc (185): SMTP error: Failed to add recipient Any idea as what this might be? Thanks, Nitin

SMTP TLS (non-SSL)

All, Is there any way to configure roundcube to use TLS for SMTP but not via an SSL connection? Looking at the list archives I see a thread from 15 Nov 2005 that covered this for an SSL connection, i.e. setting configuration as: $rcmail_config['smtp_server'] = 'ssl://mail.host.com'; $rcmail_config['smtp_port'] = 465; But this doesn't work for me because I'm using port 25 and not using SSL. If I turn TLS off in postfix then the following configuration works fine: $rcmail_config['smtp_server'] = 'localhost'; $rcmail_config['smtp_port'] = 25; With TLS turned on though I just get errors. Thunderbird works okay so I'm either doing something stupid with roundcube's configuration or what I want to do isn't supported. Any and all help offered will be appreciated! Regards, Matt P.S. I only really understand SMTP, TLS, etc. to be dangerous but I do have some PHP experience so if the functionality is missing then I'm quite prepared to roll up my sleeves and dig in. I assume since TLS is supported via SSL it can't be too big a job.

Browser back/forward page vs. RC's navigation icons

One thing I've noticed, if I use the RoundCube navigation icons, then all of the problems with messages appearing not to move, or not being deleted, then things go smooth and accurate. Also the hourglass notice at the top-center of the page always displays. However, if I use the forwards/backwards navigation of my webbrowser (IE at the moment.), then the message list display does not always update, nor do I get the top-center update display. Haven't coded HTML or JS in ages, but is there a way to prevent usage of the browsers navigation shortcuts, and force the use of RC's icons for navigation? Or perhaps the login screen should have a say something like "Please use the navigation icons within RoundCube, do not use your browsers forward or reverse features"? Layman's guess, but when using the browsers forward/reverse, then the JS functions do not always trigger, and the browser is caching the main display page, and not showing a current view. And yes, Cache is set to false, but would a pragma no-cache prevent the browser from loading a stale page? -- Dan Schaper

Hi All, I'm havin a problem similar to what others are having with mySQL connction errors ( DB Error: Connect Failed) , but the problem is, that sometimes it works... then sometimes i get this error. VERY frustrating, as im not sure how to remedy this. Any suggestions as to why it will connect one moment, then not the next, but then a simple refresh will fix the issue, only to have it happen a few clicks later! Also,. funnily, when i try to log in with phpmyadmin, then i get the error (again occasionally) : #1203 - User roundcube has already more than 'max_user_connections' active connections Environment: Linux Apache 1.3.34 PHP v4.4.1 MySQL 3.23.49 (Client API) server version *4.0.24 Appreciate any help. * Jason

Preferences Save

Hi, I've just recently installed roundcube on a Fedore Core 4 systems running the latest version of cPanel. All is well in terms of using roundcube except I don't seem to be able to save preferences. I have had a quick look around but am unable to find any obvious errors in error log. Now, given that roundcube is installed on a cPanel system, which requires a bit of mucking around, I realise it is a long shot contacting the mailing list - though perhaps I am lucky and somone has come across this before. Install $dir: /usr/local/cpanel/base/roundcube Able to access /webmail via cPanel or with the use of cPanel proxy via webmail.domain.com Either way of accessing roundcube has the same affect in that I can't save, time-zone or any of the other preferences. Error in browser: The server was not able to find the document (/roundcube/) you requested. Please check the url and try again. You might also want to report this error to your webhost. No errors in /usr/local/cpanel/base/roundcube/logs/errors No errors in /usr/local/apache/domlogs/webmail.domain No errors in apache-ssl or apache access/error logs Any thoughts/ideas? rgs, Dan

I attached the source of an eBay mail maybe someone can figure it out what causes this problem. HTML mail Display problem / moving email problem

Me three. Has anybody figured this problem out? Like Rusty, I'm willing to set somebody up with a test account. I'm using the current stable version (0.1beta?), hMailServer is the mail server, firefox/IE both have the blank display problem. I've examined the page using firefox's dom inspector, the place where the email should be is entirely empty. There are no JavaScript errors. Thunderbird reads the HTML emails just fine. I'm also having issues with dragging and dropping emails into folders. It works half the time, and the other half they're right back where they were when you open the inbox again.
