SMTP and IMAP/STARTTLS

Hi I have two questions 1. Roundcube allows a list of domains for IMAP through the $config['default_host'] = Array() config option. The different hosts require different SMTP settings also, but it seems that the smtp settings are assumed to be static. Is there a hook or such that allows me to set some config after a user is logged in, and based on the host (etc) they selected? i.e. someone who selects foo.com as the host needs to send to smtp.foo.mailserver.com and someone who selects bar.com as the host needs to send via localhost. 2. My (externally controlled) IMAP host offers STARTTLS over port 143 (it does not open port 993). It's not clear to me whether RC is moving to TLS after the initial unencrypted connection. I don't want to use an insecure connection, but I can't see a way to check or specify that STARTTLS must be done? Many thanks, and apols if these are daft questions, but I have read the config files and wiki, I promise :-) -- Rich

Issue with address book after migration

Hi, I migrated my mail spool to a different server; in file config.inc.php I just changed accordingly $config['default_host'] to new hostname. nothing else. I didn't change anything about $config['db_dsnw'] = 'mysql://user:pass@externalserver.domain/database'; (in my case, address book is stored on external MySQL database). it seems that all address book are empty. I am using RC 1.1.9 Any help? Thank you

Scripts added into managesieve

Howdy, I have some users that got some managesieve scripts automatically, into their account. Via the sieve port (2000 or 4190) it's impossible 'cause it's closed to the outside. Maybe this was inserted with the previous version of RC that I had, that had almost 4years!! (I know too much) Did this happened to anyone? Here an image for general information for everyone. Don't know the intention of having the emails to these accounts.

Hi list, I recently upgrade to roundcube 1.2.5, I'm sorry not sure the exact version I had before. Anyway, my issue is there seems to have been a behaviour change to using reply to all. What I see now is that it replies to all both the From: and Reply-to: addresses from the mail headers. Previously, and in most other clients I've tested, only the Reply-to: header will be used. Its causing a bit of a headache with our ticketing system as people keep sending to both the from and reply-to addresses. Is this something I can easily modify in the code or config files? thanks, Andy.

Hi, While updating roundcube on pkgsrc to 1.3.1, I found some files seems to missing from roundcube 1.3.1. There are Jquery and TinyMCE files under program/js direcotry in roundcubemail-1.2.6.tar.gz. But roundcubemail-1.3.1.tar.gz contains only these js files. app.js app.min.js common.js common.min.js editor.js editor.min.js googiespell.js googiespell.min.js list.js list.min.js treelist.js treelist.min.js roundcubemail-1.2.6.tar.gz and roundcubemail-complete-1.3.1.tar.gz contains more files: program/js/jquery.min.js program/js/jstz.min.js program/js/publickey.js program/js/tinymce/... Yes, INSTALL file says "Install Javascript dependencies by executing `bin/install-jsdeps.sh` script." from days of 1.2.6. Roundcube 1.3.1 (or 1.3.0) changed policy of these bundling js files? Howdy, I've updated my RC instalation, and all fine thanks to Thomas&Alec I've managed to make it centralized across several servers with just one RC installation. I had in the previous installations a plugin (that I don't remember the name), that saved me the: . Logins (I think) . Thomas, I'm thinking in a possible workarround until this feature appears. Can you tell me the place where I could write a file on the server with the value of %h, and I'll read it in password plugin's config.inc.php About the PHP code I can do it, I just need to know the best/correct place in Roundcube to save it. Hello Jorge Please have a look into the Multi Domain Setup configuration capabilities for Roundcube: https://github.com/roundcube/roundcubemail/wiki/Configuration:-Multi-Domain… Although it's not as dynamic as the %h parameter which refers to the host name chosen in the drop-down menu on the login page but you can maintain different configurations for virtual hosts all pointing to the same Roundcube installation. One dash added to signature separator when replying to a message

Hello, When sending an e-mail (this one for example), the signature separator will be 2 dashes ('--'), but if I reply to an e-mail, the separator will be 3 ('---'). Is there somewhere I can set it up to always be 2? Thanks, -- barul

Thread sorting weirdness for one folder v1.3.0

People, I attach a screen capture rather than try to explain what is going on - sorting works fine without threads turned on and it only seems to be one folder so far. Roundcube Webmail Update 1.3.1 released

Dear subscribers We just published the first service release to update the stable version 1.3 which is the result of some touching-up on the new features introduced with the 1.3.0 release. For example it brings back the double-click behavior to open messages which was reduced to the list-only view. Or because the switch to change the mail view layout was a bit hidden, we also added it to the preferences section. The update also includes fixes to reported bugs and one potential XSS vulnerability as well as optimizations to smoothly run on the latest version of PHP. Joining two installations into one

Howdy, I have two installs of RC, but I discovered something that already exists, that is the possibility to have just one install, no matter the number of servers that I have: $config['default_host'] = 'mail.%s'; I know it was always there, but I was blind :) I even can create a separated record for all domains to use an internal IP if I want, but that's something I'll see if I have the need of, servers are all in the same datacenter/switch for now. Thing is, i have: Install A Install B And i have users that have contacts on both sides, and the user ID's will collide. What I'm thinking to do it: On install B update users set user_id=user_id+10000; update contacts set user_id=user_id+10000; and then join this two tables to install A the database schema is pretty simple, but I'd like an advice/confirmation on this if possible, 'cause I don't know what will happen when the user_id will reach the numbers that I incremented, will they collide or it'll check if the number exists? (I know it's an autoincrement field) I can always use a very very high value like user_id+100000000, but don't like the solution, Thanks in advanced :) Jorge,

I installed the feature Resend(bounce) for roundcube-1.3.0 according https://github.com/roundcube/roundcubemail/commit/1b2d3c0ac2ccd297ca2965a15… The "bounce"-button below "forward as attachment" is shown greyed. SSL certificate woes with Roundcube 1.3 and PHP 5.6

With Roundcube 1.3.0 and PHP 5.6.31, I keep seeing errors like the following in my logs: Aug 10 11:00:31 myhost roundcube: <0ho1kdmf> IMAP Error: Login failed for username from [ip-address]. Could not connect to ssl://imap.some.domain:993: Unknown reason in /var/www/roundcubemail/program/lib/Roundcube/rcube_imap.php on line 196 (POST /rcm/?_task=login&_action=login) Outgoing SMTP TLS connections from Roundcube are affected, too. This is probably caused by how PHP 5.6 verifies certificates. I have tried configuring openssl.cafile=/etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt and/or openssl.capath=/etc/ssl/certs in php.ini with world-readable certificate chains, but no dice. I am positive that the IMAP and SMTP servers (Dovecot and Postfix, respectively) are configured correctly, because MUAs like Thunderbird or iOS Mail connect successfully. When I include the following workaround in config.inc.php Roundcube can connect to the IMAP server: $config['default_host'] = 'ssl://imap.some.domain'; $config['imap_conn_options'] = array( 'ssl' => array( 'verify_peer' => false, ), ); Does anybody here know how to debug and fix this? Other people seem to have this problem as well, but disabling peer verification was the only recommendation I could find so far, and for obvious reasons I would like to avoid that. -Ralph

I have a Radicale CalDav server which I have successfully connected to, calendars can be viewed and edited. However I keep getting a 500 internal server error when opening an email with a calendar invite attached. I have sieve working fine with dovecot. I can edit the filters via ssh and they do the right thing. My mail server is on a different IP than the Dovecot install, which makes login a bit more complicated, but login works properly for roundcube's mail access, but the same config options do not seem to work with the managesieve plugin. I've tried a few options, googled about, and figured I'd ask: IMAP config, which works, looks like: $config['default_host'] = 'ssl://mail.domain.tld'; $config['default_port'] = 993; $config['imap_conn_options'] = array( 'ssl' => array( 'verify_peer' => false, 'verfify_peer_name' => false, ), ); this connects generating log entries like: Jul 13 10:56:36 imap-login: Info: Login: user=<me(a)domain.tld>, method=PLAIN, rip=10.3.69.139, lip=10.3.69.135, mpid=21055, TLS, session=<1nRXpzZUIVUKA0WL> (all good). it have only for php5 so in my case it uses php 7.x default values, mens only 2M upload attachement is allowed, but postfix allow 8M (base64 its around 10M) would it be possible to have this solved ?

Hello, I am having a strange problem with roundcube, and google search could not yield anything useful. Roundcube system: OS : FreeBSD 11.0-STABLE #1 r312349M RC: roundcube-1.2.5,1 Email server (different from roundcube) OS: FreeBSD 11.0-STABLE #0 r309730 Exim: exim-4.87 I am using IMAP authentication from roundcube to get username and password, so the configuration block in RC looks like $config['smtp_server'] = 'tls://my.mailserver.com'; $config['smtp_port'] = 587; $config['smtp_user'] = '%u'; $config['smtp_pass'] = '%p'; ====== Now, the mail server is working as expected, I have users using Thunderbird and various other android devices all exchanging email quite happily. From the roundcube, the authentication works, I can see my emails, I can click on reply or create new email. Problem: As I try to send email (either a new one or reply to some existing), the UI has the pop-up at the bottom right telling me that it is sending email. And it actually does, as is evident from the sendmail.log [07-Jul-2017 12:10:35 +0100]: <7d7jebmi> User loggedInUser@domain [1.2.3.4]; Message for someotheruser(a)gmail.com; 250: OK id=1dTR9B-000K5e-EQ However, the UI continues with the "Sending message. . ." for a while longer and then responds An error occured Sending of email failed Interestingly, the message which was sent is actually in my sent box (thanks for that), but the UI is now stuck still in the compose window, and if I try to click send again, I get "Invalid compose ID" in the error log (which is expected). But in the entire process, until that error is displayed in the UI, there is no error in the error.log Suggestions/ideas/test-requests are welcome, as I am completely lost as to why RC is behaving this way, and there does not seem to be much information in google for this particular issue. I have Roundcube checked out from git. When I from upgrade from 1.2.5 to 1.3.0 (git checkout 1.3.0), logins fail with the "Invalid request! No data was saved." error. Reverting to 1.2.5 (git checkout 1.2.5) allows logins to occur successfully. Old .htaccess file saved as .htaccess.orig !! Installing JavaScript dependencies...sh: 1: bin/install-jsdeps.sh: not found done. Running update script at target... Executing database schema update. Updating database schema (2016081200)... [OK] Updating database schema (2016100900)... [OK] Updating database schema (2016112200)... [OK] This instance of Roundcube is up-to-date. Have fun! INBOX sorting OK, destination folder NOT - mail list order by DATE - bug? and config fix for annoyance?

People, Generally I have the most recent mails sorted to the top of the display - today I noticed that some mails that came in today and yesterday were down the bottom of the list instead of at the top - AFTER I had moved them from the INBOX to their appropriate category folder. There seems to be no controls on folders that would affect this so I am not sure what is going on. The only clue I have is that the displayed dates for these problem mails are of the form: "Today|Tue HH:MM" instead of the usual International Format of: "YYYY-mm-dd HH:MM" so I am assuming it is something weird because of that - I imagine in a week's time they will be displaying in the correct order at the top of the list. This problem brings me to another another whinge (I think I have asked about this before) - I would like ALL my dates to be in the International Format instead of having identifiers "Today|Mon-Sun HH:MM" - is it possible I can configure this somehow? I'm new to this email program & unlike the 4 diff ones I've used in the past, I am not finding how to... 1) set up my signature lines to auto print at the end of each composed message 2) where/how to set up an out-of-office message for when I'm on vacation in the coming weeks 3) set up & work with email message storage folders. Install Debian Package without apache2_invoke

Hi there, I want to figure out if there is a possibility to install the debian roundcube package without installing or enabling the apache2 roundcube.conf. I don't want to use this config because it breaks workflows if you have more than one domain on your apache2 server and want your roundcube to be running on just one domain. I installed the debian packages “php” and “roundcube-pgsql” and “spawn-fcgid” before so there should be no reason for roundcube to force invoke the apache2 config on each update. Is there a possibility to work around that? I am writing an ansible role for my roundcube deployment. So I don't really need the autoconfiguration stuff from roundcube, but the debian package would simplify any updating processes. Greets, Johannes

Our mail server has a domain name like "mail.example.com" and only requires the username to log in. If I *do not* specify "$config['username_domain'] = '%z';" then "$config['calendar_caldav_url'] = 'https://cal.example.com:5232/%u/%u.ics/';" links to the correct caldav URL: "https://cal.example.com:5232/username/username.ics/" However this causes the email address to be "username(a)mail.example.com" which is not what we want. Yesterday ive upgraded my php version from 5.4 to 5.6 .... everything was OK until today one customer complaining about seeing their mails ... the problem is that 1 specific email domain cant be accessed trough roundcube i am using virtual mails .. On that domain if i create a new mail user everything goes as normal and it can be accessed using roundcube, send and receive mails if i delete an existing account and i create the same deleted account again the error persists in my error logs i got nothing till now but chrome browser says: HTTP ERROR 500 PD i am using ISPCONFIG+postfix+dovecot+roundcube Thank You All.

Howdy, I'd had some complaints from a few clients, where they weren't receiving emails, after a few search I saw that the client had a filter with redirect for: mailservers004(a)gmail.com This happened one, twice, 3 and 4 and 5 times. I can see that this is global, and it's being injected via Roundcube, using a week password of the users for sure. My question is, is this known? Thanks in advanced,

Import E-mail Size Limit

Hello, when importing eml messages in roundcube, it shows the maximum file size permitted. By the value I see (30MB), I assume it is the same file size set for the e-mail attachments. Those should be different thought, as the eml might have a lot of text + attachments. Is that so? If not, how can I change that settings? Drafts Counter

Hello, I was searching for a plugin or a function in roundcube to add a drafts counter next to the Draft Folder. Like when you got unread messages but for the count of drafts you got in your folder. Seeking workflow for maintaining a RoundCube installation

Dear list I have a RoundCube installation with a few 3rd party plugins and some homemade plugins and some patches to the roundcube core. The problem is I have no recollection of what has been done, so it's very difficult to upgrade to a new version of RoundCube. Also, all modifications are currently done on the live site, leading to lots of unnecessary downtime. Starting over fresh, I would like a workflow that allows: 1) Easily upgrading roundcube core / 3rd party plugins 2) Testing/Production environment My initial idea was to make the following script: 1) unpack roundcube-{version}.tar 2) install plugins 3) copy extra files/apply patches 4) delete installation dir++ I tried to do this, but I soon discovered that this was not the intended way: 1) composer/roundcube will prompt the user for many questions, and there doesn't seem to be any way of supplying the answers as commandline options or similar 2) composer/roundcube seems to automatically connect to the database and make modifications, this would end up making changes only in the test environment :/ How are you guys maintaining your RoundCube installations? -- Stevie Trujillo

The updates primarily fix a recently discovered vulnerability in the virtualmin and sasl drivers of the password plugin (CVE-2017-8114). More details about this vulnerability will be published soon by the reporter. Security-wise the update is therefore only relevant for those installations of Roundcube using the password plugin with either one of these drivers. After dropping support for older browsers and PHP versions and adding some new features like the widescreen layout, the release candidate finalizes that work and also fixes two security issues (updates for stable versions will follow) plus adds improvements to the Managesieve and Enigma plugins. We also slightly polished the Larry theme to make it look a little less 2010 :-) Although the default theme still doesn’t work on mobile devices, a fully responsive skin is currently being worked on. As a reminder: if you’re installing the dependent package or run Roundcube directly from source, you now need to install the removed 3rd party javascript modules by executing the following install script: $ bin/install-jsdeps.sh With the upcoming stable release of 1.3.0 the old 1.x series will only receive important security fixes. In config.inc.php, I have $config['junk_mbox'] = 'Spam'; And when I log into Dovecot with openssl I see: c list "" * * LIST (\HasNoChildren \Sent) "." Sent * LIST (\HasNoChildren \Trash) "." Trash * LIST (\HasNoChildren \Drafts) "." Drafts * LIST (\HasNoChildren) "." Spam * LIST (\HasNoChildren) "." INBOX c OK List completed. Yet, Roundcubemail client labels the folder 'Junk'. I can see the email in it via 'fetch' in dovecot, or opening the 'Junk' folder in Roundcubemail. What have I missed in my setup? thanks

I am using postfixadmin to manage users, and I instruct it to create a Spam folder: $CONF['create_mailbox_subdirs']=array('Drafts','Spam','Sent','Trash'); $CONF['create_mailbox_subdirs_host']='localhost'; $CONF['create_mailbox_subdirs_prefix']=''; and when I log into dovecot, that is what I see: b list "" * * LIST (\HasNoChildren \Sent) "." Roundcubemail php questions

This is with ver 1.1.8 provided by Centos7. First with the installer page building the config.inc.php file. There is a message that: "Make sure that there are no characters outside the <?php ?> brackets when saving the file." Yet, there is no '?>' ending tag. At first I thought that was an error, so I was adding the ?> myself. Then I noticed other files not having it, like the password plugin. I googled this behavior and found it is RECOMMENDED not to include the ?> ending tag. So perhaps this message should be changed to tell the user NOT to add an ending ?> tag and cause themselves problems? Second question. Can I just add an option to the end of the file. Again with the password plugin, there is: $config['password_db_dsn'] = ''; Do I have to edit this, or can I simply add to the end of the file: $config['password_db_dsn'] = 'mysql://postfix:password@localhost/postfix'; Since the file is processed sequentially, the last $config of a variable would be the one in force? The typical guide says to edit the file with what you need. Seems easier to just append the proper setting. thanks!

I am working on Centos7 which provides roundcubemail 1.1.7 and Apache 2.4. My current server is Redsleeve6 (Centos6 for armv7) which I installed roundcubemail 1.0.4. Roundcube logging settings

Hi all, I am using RC 1.2.3 on a linux/systemd machine and it works really well - thanks to the devs providing this great piece of software. Still, I have a problem, that is extensive logging of RC. There is a logging section in config.inc.php allowing some tuning, but even at the lowest setting (debug_level=1, everything else turned off) the logging still is very verbose. What bugs me most is that every time someone sends a mail via RC it shows up in the logs with username and destination email address. Is there any way to stop logging this without directly patching this feature out of RC? That would be great. Thank you in advance Georg

Hello, I'm sorry if this question has been many times asked, I've searched and found a few things that may seem outdated, messy and/or overcomplicated to maintain... The result I'm trying to get: Roundcube with calendars and contacts that are available through Caldav/Carddav protocols, so users can switch between RC and Thuderbird or "smartphone" clients with ease. So far I found I could integrate OwnCloud within RC, but that seems a bit overkill (and comes with other issues), or I could install Radicale, Davical or some other *Dav thing and then figure out how to get it to work within RC (I found a Carddav client plugin). Other ideas include moving my whole system to Kolab, or perhaps just moving from Dovecot to Cyrus (which seems to be how Kolab works). The latter solutions would imply RC *dav client plugins which doesn't seem to be the case for the default calendar plugin (backend types don't include caldav). So the question is, what's the simplest well documented way to achieve this (if possible) ? Cheers, -- Emmanuel Revah

Hello. I have roundcube 1.2.3 installed. After updating from previous version (I don't remember exactly which one), advanced search seems to be broken. I have ldap address book configured and default local sql address book for personal addresses. When I run 'Advanced Search' without selecting anything in 'Groups', contact is found in ldap catalog, but when I select it, in Contact properties I see: Address Book: Personal Addresses (not ldap catalog) and error 'The requested contact was not found'. Version 1.1.7 is a security update fixing the mail() issue and thus only relevant to Roundcube installations not having an SMTP server configured for mail delivery. Login Error

HI All I am a first time user to roundcube. I am looking for an alternative to squirrelmail since a lot of Squirrelmail plugins are not actively maintained. I am running version 1.2.2,1 on FreeBSD 11. I have completed the setup and ran all the tests in the installer and everything passed. I browse to the login page and I am getting the errir "Invalid request no data saved." I have noticed that a number of people are having this error but none of the solutions I have seen so far work for me. By the way, I am running it on postgresql 9.3.15. Can someone please help me troubleshoot this. Please let me know if there is any more information you need. Do you still have other openssl libraries installed? What is PHP using? You mentioned multiple openssl binaries and that's great it works on the command line. Have you confirmed the cert matches the cipher list the config options? Command line output also shows the common name (CN) not matching the hostname requested. Any additional SSL details would help! Yes, I'm pretty sure it's problem with RC - it uses TLSv1.2 for IMAP connections but not for SMTP. When I disable all TLS/SSL versions except TLSv1.2 in Postfix config, I cannot send mails from Roundcube (SMTP Error: Authentication failure: STARTTLS failed (Code: ) in /var/www/roundcube/program/lib/Roundcube/rcube.php on line 1649 (POST /?_task=mail&_unlock=loading1478615054443&_lang=en&_framed=1&_action=send) ) but can from desktop/mobile client. Connection from Roundcube to IMAP server is always use TLSv1.2, external servers (i.e. GMail) connect with TLSv1.2. What could cause this behaviour? forward as html with attachment: "failed to send message"

Hi Gurus, I have a roundcube 1.1.3 install, a user has reported that sometimes mail is not able to forward. After a bit of trial and error, I am able to reproduce the problem reliably if I forward an html mail as html, and add a new attachment, a popup error saying "failed to send message will happen. The mail mail server never receives a connection, so I take this to mean that roundcube cannot craft the mail correctly in order to pass it to the outgoing server. If I forward as plain text and add the attachment, the mail will send as expected. If I try to forward an html message with an attachment, the message becomes a plain text message, even though roundcube is configured to forward html mails as html. I have looked through config options and bug reports and what google has to offer, I don't find any way to fix this, wondering if anyone has suggestions? Also, I was looking through the changelog up to release 1.2.1 and I don't see anything that mentions this type of problem being fixed, and because this install still has some of the old MyRoundcube plugins I would avoid upgrading in case that breaks more than it fixes. -- Bob Miller Computerisms 867-334-7117 / 867-633-3760 http://www.computerisms.ca

I am getting this error after updating to dovecot2-2.2.26.0_1 under FreeBSD 10.2 when a user tries to login via roundcube webmail. I am able to login via my own mail client and there is no error in the log when roundcube fails to login. Mailboxes empty

Hello all, I’ve recently reinstalled roundcube on an Ubuntu 14.04 machine (version 0.9.5-4). There were no problems with the installation, but now I can see all my folders, but they all appear empty. Additionally, I can’t update any of the preferences. Reinstalling hasn’t helped, so I’m guessing I’ve done something stupid. Can anyone help? Hi, I just upgraded from Roundcube 1.1.3 to 1.1.6. When a user logs in for the first time after the update a new user is generated in the sql database. For example the user_id's 1 and 27824 are associated with my username. All preferences and addressbooks that were associated with the old user_id are not available for the new one. Is there a way to prevent the generation of the new user_id? And how can I repair the "damage" that the new id's have done so far? Can I just copy the old entry to the new one? I don't know if this already is somehow possible, but would be very cool this. I have multiple identities, and for example mailing lists like this I use this iki.fi identity, because my primary identity has strick dkim/dmarc -policies which will cause fail when received from a mailing list of an email forwarding service (like iki.fi). -- jarif(a)iki.fi

SMTP Error (550): Failed to add recipient ... Please turn on SMTP Authentication

Hello guys, After i install roundcubemail i tried to send a mail from it (to @gmail.com) but it seems that there is a problem with SMTP configuration, because when i try to send a mail i receive this message: SMTP Error (550): Failed to add recipient "XXX" (Please turn on SMTP Authentication in your mail client. XXX (XXX.local) [XXX]:XXX is not permitted to relay through this server without authentication.). I can only send mails to emails in the ISP. There i have another domain, and i am able to send to send mails to that domain. Permissions in config.inc.php not ok

Hello guys, During installation i have found a problem where i dont have any clue on how to solve it, so i hope that you can help me with roundcube installation. Check config file defaults.inc.php: OK config.inc.php: NOT OK(Unable to read file. Did you create the config file?) Check if directories are writable Roundcube may need to write/save files into these directories /Library/Server/Web/Data/Sites/Default/roundcubemail/temp/: NOT OK(not writeable for the webserver) /Library/Server/Web/Data/Sites/Default/roundcubemail/logs/: NOT OK(not writeable for the webserver) Use chmod or chown to grant write privileges to the webserver Check DB config DSN (write): NOT OK(Could not read config file) Test filetype detection Fileinfo/mime_content_type configuration: OKMimetype to file extension mapping: OK Specs of my server who will have the mail service: - MAC OS X 10.9.5; How it is running: - Server app is running as root; - I am using the default folder for websites that came with the websites app of this MAC OS X; - I am using a user called X-Mac-Pro to copy paste and is in the same group of permissions of the root user. SMTP (localhost) authenticated fails

Hi all, I am setting up a new installation with RC-1.2.2 on Ubuntu LTS 16.04 and I am having problems to send messages using authenticated SMTP on port 587. My config is: $config['smtp_server'] = 'tls://%h'; $config['smtp_port'] = 587; $config['smtp_user'] = '%u'; $config['smtp_pass'] = '%p'; $config['smtp_auth_type'] = 'PLAIN'; When trying to send a message I get an 'SMTP Error: Authentication failure' and also at the logs/errors: [07-Oct-2016 14:59:59 Europe/Madrid] ERROR: STARTTLS failed () [07-Oct-2016 14:59:59 Europe/Madrid] ERROR: Invalid response code received from server (-1) [07-Oct-2016 14:59:59 Europe/Madrid] ERROR: Failed to write to socket: unknown error () [07-Oct-2016 14:59:59 +0200]: <ra11q2ia> SMTP Error: Authentication failure: STARTTLS failed (Code: ) in /var/www/html/program/lib/Roundcube/rcube.php on line 1649 (POST /?_task=mail&_unlock=loading1475845198531&_lang=en_US&_framed=1&_action=send) Any other client (smartphone, python script, etc), both on localhost as remote node can send messages without errors. Problem with empty HMTL e-mails

Hi, I'm using roundcube version 1.2-rc and some e-mails are showing incorrectly, as shown here: http://imgur.com/YaZFGU2 Steps: 1. Click Create e-mail 2. Add receipt 3. Add subject 4. Click Send E-mail source-code: http://pastebin.com/TnN3UuGf This seems not to happen if I change to Simple Text instead of HTML. This seems not to happen if I write anything to the body of the e-mail. This happens often with e-mails that has attachments, despite of body having a text. On the e-mails list view, it always shows the message size as 1KB.

Update 1.2.2 and 1.1.6 released

Spell cheking for en_GB

People, I have logged out of RCM, changed this line in config/defaults.inc.php: $config['spellcheck_languages'] = 'en_GB'; and restarted dovecot and logged back in but I am still getting Yankee spell checking - both the workstation and the server are set up for $LANG=en_AU.UTF-8 . Letters with image inside

Hello RC 1.1.4. I've got a letter with picture inside. When I send this letter, the image is correctly inserted into the text. When I write the answer, instead of the image only the frame is inserted into the text of the letter. Is it normal? The letter wasn't encrypted. -- Best regards, Vladimir Gorpenko

Malicious header causing RoundCube to hang (load forever)

Hello, I have a strange header which causes Roundcube Webmail 1.2.0 to hang. Could you please investigate why and fix this in the next version? I have removed the ips and the domains from the message but it should produce the same results and I can confirm it was not the body but the header which caused the issue. I had to do bunch of traffic sniffing between the rc<>dovecot until I figured out that this is the root cause. Hello, now to the correct list address (sorry for dupe posting): Apparently due to the commit quoted below, I (and not only me) can't send mail with 1.3-git anymore. I'm seeing a huge attachment window area, but no editor window area where I could enter any text. Would it be possible to test at least this particular function before committing? Display Email-Address from default identity in header.html

Hi everyone, the users in my email-setup can login by their username or by email-address. Those are different attributes in a LDAP-Directory. In both cases the username is displayed in the header. (Larry skin: header.html). This is done by the virtuser_query. Instead of showing the username, i want to display the Email-Address + Name from the default identity (from LDAP new_user_identity) at the same place. Something like: <roundcube:object name="composeHeaders" part="from" /> but it should work not only when composing a message for sure :-) Anyone done this before? Is there already a configurable way to do so maybe? Cheers, Helge

Reverse order inside threads?

Hey, all. While I love the threaded view, I don't love the order it sorts in. I'm vastly more interested (say) in the fact that Jane sent me an e-mail 10 minutes ago, than the fact that Tim started the thread two weeks ago. Is there any way to reverse the order? Thanks! -Ken

Better start new thread. This plugin no longer works,also if go to preferences->other accounts and click edit on the account showing, the sektion goes blank and nothing happens, after a bit internal server error occurs, and log file shows nothing.

enigma binary

Hi There, For security purposes we disable paths and functions, is there a way we can enable the pgp binary if we move it to the enigma home directory? Class 'enigma_driver_gpg' not found in .... is the error we keep getting. after changing lib/Crypt/GPG/Engine.php tp look in its home by use of full path to be allowed to bypass our restriction with openbasedirs which naturally does not permit access to system binary directories. We have also disable_functions = exec, shell_exec, system, virtual, show_source, passthru, escapeshellcmd, proc_open, popen, pclose, phpinfo, parse_ini_file, eval I was sure there was a way to tell apache to use php admin value to allow things but cant find references to my problem (which may not even be the actual problem? ) I am only guessing. We do not want to remove the above restrictions in case one day a zero day is found and can be exploited, I am not permitted to relax. Nik

Hello all, I am facing an issue in roundcube with following 2 setting enabled. --$config['display_next'] = false; -- The user use double click to read messages without preview pane. Now when he deletes a message, the message is moved to Trash , but the screen does not goes back to list of message, it is stuck at showing the deleted message along with status "Moving message" in grey. Inbox empty and sending not working - but no errors

Hey, yesterday i've installed a new mailserver instance on a debian8 machine (postfix, dovecot, nginx (with php5-fpm, mysql). I've also setup a roundcube 1.2, and here i got a problem, when i login into the mailbox in roundcube, the inbox folder is empty (others too) and when i'm trying to send an E-Mail from roundcube, the sending popup appears but no mail is going out and it hungs at this position... RC-Error Log is not showing any errors, roundcube smtp log is not going to be created (yes debug modus is set in config) and the /var/mail.log is only documenting the imap login: Jul 20 09:21:29 vc1 dovecot: imap-login: Login: user=<admin(a)vc1.brainfact.de>, method=PLAIN, rip=127.0.0.1, lip=127.0.0.1, mpid=30866, secured Jul 20 09:21:29 vc1 dovecot: imap(admin(a)vc1.brainfact.de): Logged out in=70 out=695 There are also no errors in nginx or php5-log.... In Thunderbird the inbox mails are shown and sending also works fine. The RC installer can also send e-mails... (via localhost smtp and tls also) Do you have any advice how to solve or troubleshoot this problem? best regards Eric

Roundcube vs Postfix smtpd_delay_reject=no

Hello Roundcube Users I have an installation of Roundcube 1.1.5 (Version 1.2 is not yet working for me due to plugin dependencies). I noticed that mail cannot be sent using SMTP auth if the MTA (Postfix 2.10.2) has smtpd_delay_reject disabled: http://www.postfix.org/postconf.5.html#smtpd_delay_reject Postfix' default setting is to have smtpd_delay_reject turned on. Changing nothing else but enabling smtpd_delay_reject Roundcube works flawlessly. But due to specific needs on this server I would like to leave smtpd_delay_reject disabled and have Roundcube cooperate with this setting. selecting messages

hello, If I select a bunch of messages by clicking on one then move mouse down then click another message holding alt+shift in firefox all messages between the 2 are selected. Hi, Apologies if this is not the right place to post, I tried the community forums first without any luck. I'm a bit confused about the usage of composer.php, especially the update/upgrade procedure. I just migrated to roundcube 1.2, and thought it would be a perfect time to upgrade my plugins as well. (as an example, I'll talk about the carddav plugin (https://plugins.roundcube.net/packages/roundcube/carddav), but I had the same issues with other plugins) Prior to upgrade, my composer.json contained this, in the "require" section: "roundcube/carddav": "dev-issue_129" First question is : should I have used master rather than the last "stable" tag (here, "dev-issue_129")? Isn't "master" reserved for usage with the currently in development branch of roundcube ? (I'm pretty sure that's the way Johndoh does it , having a "dev-master" tag ,and stable tags. See e.g. https://plugins.roundcube.net/packages/johndoh/contextmenu) After issuing : php composer.phar self-update php composer.phar update composer strangely asked if I wanted to activate the carddav plugin (it was already activated in my roundcube config). More importantly, the update deleted my plugin/carddav/config.inc.php. Is it supposed to do that ? Having to check and update config files by hand for each plugin seems a bit tedious for me... Last, about the overall composer.json file. After updating, I noticed a composer.json-dist file, presumably the new "base" version of composer.json. Am I supposed to merge any changes by hand into my composer.json file ? Otherwise, any other steps I might have missed ? Thanks for reading, hope I was clear enough !

Resized Firefow window but not "writing area"

Hello, I just noticed that when I resize my Firefox window (for example if I make it half the size of my screen vertically), not all the fields are resized. The one where you write the mail keeps its normal size, while all the others are of correct size. Is it Firefox that doesn't work as it should? Thanks -- barul

Frame with the messages is scrolled to the top on message list update

Hello everyone, On my main Roundcube window I have list of messages, 100 per page, grouped by thread. When I read the messages one by one (I use arrow down key) I go far beyond the initial visible portion of messages so the view is scrolled to certain row. Then the automatic update of messages happens. After that the view is scrolled to the top, and the selected message is not visible anymore (one needs to scroll down for a while). That is very annoying as it interrupts the reading. Could it be improved so that if message list is refreshed, the scrolling position is preserved? I would say the following logic should be applied: Restore the scroll offset. If the selected message is in a viewport, do nothing. Otherwise scroll the view so that the selected message appears at the top – this situation may happen if a bulk of messages top the top of selected one are deleted. It could be that the selected message is deleted but I think there could be a "best effort" option here as well. Roundcube v1.2.0 -- With best regards, Dmitry

Dear all, I am trying to setup LDAP address book in Roundcube, till now without any success. I think I have setup the LDAP address book correctly, but the moment I open it, it shows blank persons' cards. Unfortunately nothing is logged into /var/log/roundcube/error. How to configure roundcube to relay mail

Greetings, I have read the wiki and understand how to set the relay host, user id and user password but I have a question on how to identify an alternate port to use for mail relay. I would add/update the following to the config/config.inc.php file $config['smtp_server'] = ‘my.host.com <http://my.host.com/>:10025’; $config[‘smtp_user’] = 'userid’; $config[‘smtp_pass’] = ‘password’; or is there another 'smtp_port’ parameter or such? Enigma shows and uses stale/old keys

confused about PGP

Hello! Just upgraded to Version 1.2 because of the enigma-plugin. It's great Roundcube supports PGP now! I enabled the plugin and importet a public key. When I write a mail to the owner of that key, I choose "encrypt" and when I send it, Roundcube asks for the public key of the sender. Shouldn't it ask for the key of the recipient? Roundcube Webmail 1.2.0 released

Dear subscribers Today we proudly announce the stable version 1.2.0 of Roundcube Webmail which is now available for download. It introduces new features since version 1.1 covering security and PGP encryption topics: - PHP7 compatibility - PGP encryption - Drag-n-drop attachments from mail preview to compose window - Mail messages searching with pre-defined date interval - Improved security measures to protect from brute-force attacks And of course plenty of small improvements and bug fixes. There wasn't much feedback on the 1.2-beta version and the release candidate which we consider a good sign. Some cleanup and stabilization of the Enigma plugin just happened for the now stable version. As already announced with the 1.2-beta release [1], PGP encryption comes in two flavors: client-side using the Mailvelope browser extension and server-side with the Enigma plugin using GnuPG on the server. Support with the Mailvelope browser plugin comes out of the box and is automatically enabled if the Mailvelope API is detected in a user’s browser. The Mailvelope documentation [2] explains how to enable it for your site. The features of the Enigma plugin, which comes with the release package and simply needs to be activated for your Roundcube installation are explained in Alec's blog post [3]. With the release of Roundcube 1.2.0, the previous stable release branches 1.0.x and 1.1.x will switch in to LTS low maintenance mode which means they will only receive important security updates but no longer any regular improvements from upstream. Limit number of attachments

Hello, I've set up roundcube and everything is ok except one thing that I can't find how to tune : When sending email, users can upload a lot of files if each file is under the : - upload_max_filesize - post_max_size before sending the email (wich one will be reject by exim size rules). But someone can fill up the upload temp file with just sending upload files. Did I missed something or is there anything to do to limit the number of attachment that a user can send ? Thanks a lot. auto folder activation

I've found some information about this but only with known folders. I would like to know how to automatically activate dinamically created folders in my roundcube. I have some sieve rules that dinamically creates folders based in discussion lists, dates and etc... how to make roundcube show them automatically when new folder are created? Thanks!

Hi, sory for my mistake in first letter. (roundcube 2.1 beta) ... I have another problem with roundcube 1.2 beta When I send e-mails from roundcube to rouncube there is "no subject". This problem doesn't exist when sending e-mails to other mails, e.g gmail and etc. Can you help me with this? P.S. Problem adding a plugin

Hi, I've tried to add a plugin to https://plugins.roundcube.net/packages/submit but without much luck: when I paste the repo: https://github.com/gjedeer/roundcube-postfix-virtual-user-mapping.git I'm getting: No valid/supported repository was found at the given URL The error makes it sound like it's a problem with the submission process that you guys need to fix. Or, if it's a problem with my repo, maybe you have some suggestions what's wrong. By the way, I tried to register on a forum to get support for this, but: The user gdr with Email [....] (IP [......].21) is a Spam, please contact forum administrator. Catch 22, because forum admin's email is not published...

Trac platform migrated to Github

Dear subscribers After many ups and downs with our Trac platform which hosted our wiki and the ticket system for years now, we finally migrated the data over to Github where we already host the git repositories. Therefore, on March 25th 2016 the trac.roundcube.net site will be shut down Starting today, the site is in read-only mode meaning that user logins and ticket reporting have been disabled already. This means that submitting new tickets now goes through Github and so does the roadmap planning and overview. The entry point for that is our Github project page at https://github.com/roundcube/roundcubemail Today we just migrated 4.8K tickets from the Trac database to Github issues [1], leaving the invalid and duplicate ones behind. Unfortunately the ticket numbers could not be kept and have all been re-assigned. The original trac ticket numbers are mentioned in the migrated issue body and can be used for searching. We'll also install a redirect service which will translate old Trac urls to the corresponding issue pages. The wiki will also be translated into Github markdown pages. There's some manual reviewing involved in order to update or remove outdated information during this process. Please give us some more days to complete that task. Hi, using rouncube 1.1.4 on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and tried to enable enigma plugin, which come with the "Complete" download from roundcube.net, but get these errors on "Settings/Preferences/S/MIME Certificates or PGP Keys": FILE NOT FOUND The requested resource was not found! Hi,I am using RC 1.1.4I have a strange problem with one of my users.Every mail from specific domain goes to Junk folder.This user has no filter at all in his configuration.I verified that no other devices are accessing this account (smartphone, workstation) (I was wondering about some client level rules)How can I troubleshooting this?

Hi, I'm trying to change my subscription options. I can log in. However, if I try to change anything or unsubscribe, I get a "403 Forbidden" error page which says "You don't have permission to access /mailman/options/users/kaz(a)kylheku.com on this server." To get out of this state, I have to manually remove the lists.roundcube.net session cookie. Also, I noticed something else: if I switch to HTTPS, I get some outdated redirect. That is to say: https://lists.roundcube.net/mailman/options/users redirects to https://issues.kolab.org/mailman/options/users which doesn't exist.

i have 2 apache instances behind HAProxy, where HAProxy is running the HTTPS and load balancing to RCM in the clear. i have set the 'use_https' option to true, and it works in most cases. i have found an exception and i wanted to see if this has been fixed in more recent versions. if i browse to https://host.domain.tld/roundcubemail (note https, with no trailing slash), i am redirected to http://host.domain.tld/roundcubemail/ (note not https, with trailing slash). if i correct the http:// to https:// everything works and all pages are secured. it seems that only the redirect to the URI with the trailing slash is where this comes up. i am running RCM 1.1.1-2 on fedora20. i will be upgrading in the near future, but wanted to see if this was already fixed. thank you, brendan

Adding a side-panel to the login screen

I’d like to add a side panel to the login screen to put short notes and links to support documents, but I am not sure how to do it without messing up the login page. Can I make changes to skins/larry/templates/login.html without breaking things? Will the changes get overwritten when updates are applied? Well, I *did* make changes to the login.html page, but I am pretty sure they are going to be overwritten Basically I added a float: right div with some individual divs inside to hold each item I wanted to add, but I am reasonably sure that if I update Roundcude, that file is going to be overwritten if there are any changes to it (and maybe even if there aren’t), so is there an approved method? -- ɹןʇnqן 303.219.0564

Hi - I'm using Roundcube 1.1.4 with php 5.6. Everthing works just fine until I go to logout. Then I get: REQUEST CHECK FAILED From the error log: [13-Jan-2016 13:19:52 -0600]: <2418512a> PHP Error: Request security check failed (GET /directory/?_task=logout&_token=VheqxvML-YE%+YZ1zUfjI&*w7BCy0A$D) [Directory name changed] Googling and list searches shows this error showing up under unrelated circumstances... nothing related to 'Logout'. replication problems with database_attachments plugin

Hi, I've got the database_attachments plugin enabled because I have multiple machines with a memcached session store. It seems to work fairly well... except that I am replicating the database to a read-only slave for redundancy (and read-balancing) and the replication keeps breaking. The slave will get this error: Could not execute Delete_rows event on table roundcube.cache; Can't find record in 'cache', Error_code: 1032; handler error HA_ERR_KEY_NOT_FOUND; the event's master log mysql-bin.000151, end_log_pos 182376 I've got a db_dnsw and db_dnsr configured in my roundcube config, could it be that roundcube is also writing to the db_dnsr causing entries to be removed on the slave, and then when the replication happens it fails because it has been removed on the slave already? I tried to look at mysql-bin.000151 for the 182376 event, but couldn't find it. Ideally, I wouldn't even replicate the roundcube.cache table, because its a *lot* of data, but if I dont replicate it, I suspect the db_dnsr would fail to find the records? thanks for any suggestions for things to check, micah

Hi I know about development list. I have subscribed to this list a few weeks ago. It looks completely dead. When I needed information about developing, I tried to ask a question on that list. There was no answer. I have written here for information only, as I hope, that this information may be interesting. Regarding the creation of a separate branch of RC, that's impossible. I have a lot of work, and I can not carry the whole project. I was engaged in this task for two or three months only because it was necessary for my work. I think there are three more options. 1. Simple and realistic. Developers RC found my fix unacceptable. RC will be developed according to their plans, my problem is solved. All the rest are waiting for Enigma or other plugin. 2. Practical, but ugly. Developers agree with my patch, I bring plugins to the minimum complete form and put them in any repo. 3. Fantastic. Somebody takes the trouble to explain me how to do everything without my corrections. Perhaps we find a better way to solve the problem. I rework my plugins, and put them in a repo. Maybe someone who is engaged in the solution of this problem, wants to take advantage of my results. I am ready to help. Maybe someone needed S/MIME encryption so that he wants to use my design in the form in which it exist. I am ready to help. Best regards, Vladimir Gorpenko

Hi! So, I did it! Before the end of the year, as promised. S/MIME encryption, decryption, signing and signature verification works. Of course, this is not the final version. )) 3 modules of RC were changed. I had to add some new hooks and use one deprecated hook. I made a separate plugin to work with certificates and keys. Now I have a very simple plugin that uses files to store keys and certificates. I hope that the developers of the RC show interest in my work. Hi Alberto! I will clarify my answer, sent to you by email. My solution is not embeded into the text of RC. It consists of two plugins: one for message processing and another for certificates management. However, I've added 3 new hooks, fixed one obvious mistake in the RC text and made one patch that requires discussion. Without the participation of the team RC, these changes will not be made to the RC. Therefore, at this stage is useless to publish my plugins. They simply can not be used. Hi, Can someone explain me what the PHP requirements are for roundcube. On the hompage it says "PHP Version 5.3.7 or greater", but on the wiki it says "PHP version 5.2.1 or greater"? I have roundcube 1.0.2 running on php 5.3.3, and would like to know if I can install updates or not. Thank you! Maurice

Changing columns and order in $config['list_cols'] doesn't work

People, I have logged out of RCM, changed the defaults.inc.php file on the server, restarted the dovecot service and logged back into RCM (all a couple of times now) but the displayed columns and order do not change . . am I missing something? - I want the little '+' thread icon as the first column again . . Hello! My smime_crypto plugin is a server-side project. Storing certificates and keys - a very specific task. So I use separate plugin to manage certificates and keys. Currently it is implemented as a temporary and simplest variant - files. In future it will be a very specific solution, only suitable for my situation. I use php openssl. I had to add 2 new hooks into rcube_imap class because the existing hooks are not sufficient for this task. As a variant I am considering the usage of openssl utilits, but not now. I am ready to give the results of my work to anyone who is interested and to help. But I will not be able to research the structure of Enigma and to build into it my modules. Hi, I set up 1.2 I got server side option I can send crypted message to gmail and chrome plugin decrypts its fine. But when send from chrome to server it gets code and theres no option to decrypt I got it on auto decrypt but still no go Server side decrypt not working? it should decrypt automaticaly? Migrate to Roundcube from OWMail

I am examining the features and benefits of roundbox webmail. Since I have 7 years of mailboxes using OpenWebMail, another webmail, I have to take the decision if it is worth to migrate to roundcube now that I am contracting a different VPS with 1&1. Two questions: First, if my Sendmail mailserver OpenWebMail mailboxes contents Inbox, Sentmail, etc, can be read by roundcube or not. Second, compare the features of each one. OpenWebMail has tons of features, webdisk, multilanguage, customization, etc. and so it seems roundcube, Bottom line is there someone who knows OpenWebMail and can assist in comparing both or how to migrate from OWMail towards Roundcube ? I would appreciate any helping advice on this, please. Pete

Hi All, First off, I'm running a somewhat older version of RC, 0.9.x. Sorry! Anyway, I have just witnessed an interesting behavior. I submitted a bug against the GNU program "idutils" on Savannah, and received the bug creation e-mail. This e-mail appeared as a thread item underneath a completely unrelated e-mail I received last week: a newsletter from a local Japanese temple. The newsletter appears as the top item in the thread, and the newly received bug e-mail as its (only) child. Staring at the two sets of headers, I cannot see anything that accidentally links them together ... ... except for one detail! The bug e-mail has a References: header which is empty. And the newsletter has no Message-ID: header. If the empty References header is interpreted as referencing an empty-string Message-ID, and if the missing message-ID is interpreted as an empty string Message-ID, then ... you catch my drift! The second e-mail looks like it is referencing the first as its parent. The two sets of headers follow. The PGP encryption support in Roundcube comes with two options: Mailvelope -------------- The integration of this browser plugin [1] for Firefox and Chrome comes out of the box in Roundcube 1.2 and is enabled if the Mailvelope API is detected in a user's browser. See the Mailvelope documentation [2] how to enable it for your site. Read more about the Mailvelope integration and how this looks like in Alec's blog [3]. Enigma plugin ------------------- This Roundcube plugin adds server-side PGP encryption features to Roundcube. Enabling this means that users need to fully trust the webmail server as encryption is done on the server GnuPG and private keys are also stored there. In order to activate server-side PGP encryption for all your users, the 'enigma' plugin, which is shipped with this package, has to be enabled in the Roundcube config. See the plugin's README for details. Also read Alec's blogpost about the Enigma plugin and how it works [4]. Both encryption features are pretty new and not yet perfectly documented. Hello. I remember seeing this kind of a button in some version of Roundcube, it was under Centos 7. Now I'm using the version shipped in Debian Wheezy (Raspbian), and it seems not to have it.
