Roundcube inserting blank space at the start of email

Hi All I have a curious problem (probably shown on this email) where Roundcube (I assume) is inserting blank space at the top of emails. It happens on new mail, replies and forwards but it doesn't insert the space until after I hit send. It's also not consistent - happens sometimes not others even exactly replicating the process. If I look at the source, the text version has a couple bonus linefeeds, and the html version has : <p> </p> <div> </div> I'm not inserting any blanks, and it happens even if I create an email and type just one word, no space key, no enter key. Does seem to only be html compose so maybe TinyMCE issue ? Its not exactly the end of the world, but it is a little annoying. I'm on the latest version: 1.1.3 Anyway, any ideas would be appreciated. Mails not displayed in 1.1.3?

Hi all I must be missing something basic ... On two installations of 1.1.3 (one a fresh install, the other an upgrade from 0.7.2) I get the same symptom: User logs in successfully, IMAP folders are displayed in the left navigation bar, together with the correct count of unread messages, but the folder contents are not shown. I.e. no mails can be read. Whenever a user clicks on a folder, the "Loading..." animated bar appears and stays there forever (some minutes) before disappearing. Nothing is displayed on most folders. Strangely, for _some_ folders, some messages ARE displayed, and if that happens, it's always the latest messages that were added in that folder. Any hint for a lost soul? thx /markus

LDAP configuration issue

Hi there, I would like to make an LDAP addressbook. I've found this documentation: http://trac.roundcube.net/wiki/Howto_Config/Ldap http://trac.roundcube.net/wiki/Howto_Config_LDAP Looks like this is an old version (the newer version of LDAP doesn't use slapd.conf. There is a script, which creates RoundCube LDAP user, and subtree for addressbook. (http://trac.roundcube.net/attachment/wiki/Howto_Config/Ldap/rcabook-setup.sh) I've installed an OpenLDAP server, which has a "new-style" configuration. When I execute that script, I got an error: RoundCube user could't make the private and public subtree's. My first question is, why? I didn't fond the solution. Okay, I've made it as (LDAP) admin (the subtrees). Then the RoundCube LDAP user could't write those subtree's. I have been looking at this all morning, and its driving me nuts. Perhaps you all can see something I am missing. roundcube 1.1.3 (same with 1.1.2) One user I am aware of, of some 700 registered, has this issue. I hope someone has some suggestions. He can't send mail. At all. I enabled all the logs, userlogins shows him connecting, imap shows him fetching mail, session shows his session, sql shows the address book lookups, errors shows nothing, and when I hit send, there is no data being put in smtp or sendmail. The "sending mail" spins until it times out at 90 seconds, then the message just sits there. None of the logs reflect anything, php error log doesn't add a line at all. roundcube on iphone: huge font

Hello folks, My RC 1.1.3 show 'zoomed' mails for me on the (latest?) iPhone, in mail-view, default larry-skin. I tested iphone (9.0.0) and ipad (9.0.0), and on the -pad everything is OK, but on the -phone, when you double-tap an email in the overview just after logging in, everything is zoomed out and unusable (see attachment, all you see is the logo). Can't seem to un-zoom. Everything is there when you scroll, it's just unreadable. Has anyone seen this as well? (Can't check trac, seems down) Maarten.

Plugin zipdownload

Hello! I remember there was a possibility to download zipped folders. I activated the zipdownload plugin but I don't see a possibility to download complete folders. On left in the folderlist down the screen I see an option to pack the active folder. What does this function do? I click on it and on the right a little window pops up saying (in german) the folder was succesfully packed. What does that mean? And why can't I download a zipped folder? Regards Andreas

If so: - Which one did you pick and why? - How is it working out? - Does sync with other clients (iOS/Android/Thunderbird) work? - Which plugin(s) are required? - Are there a lot of support requests? logging in from different domains

Hello! I have asked a similar question in the past but got no satisfying answer. With roundcube I connect to dovecot on port 143. The thing is I can connect to the IMAP-server with user(a)aaa.de to user(a)bbb.de. Both domains exist on the IMAP-server. Even if I specify $config['default_host'] = 'tls://mail.bbb.de'; I can connect with user(a)aaa.de and get into the mailbox of user(a)aaa.de I find this somewhat crazy and annoying. I was hoping that when I configure auth_realms = aaa.de bbb.de in docecots config, the differences would be honoured but it isn't like this. What steps need to be taken that such a cracy behaviour does not happen? Or is it just not possible to distiguish between different domains? Regards Andreas

Version 1.0.7 comes with cherry-picked fixes from the more recent version to ensure proper long term support. Additional Identity in Roundcube

Hello Roundcube-Users, As a new subscriber to this list, I hope you could help me with my first question. In Roundcube I could add an additional Identity under settings -> identity. Why couldn't I change the e-mail address for the knew identity? For example: My login is foo(a)example.org and I like to add an identity with the e-mail address bar(a)example.org. But I couldn't change the e-mail address in the identity dialog. On some of my desktops I use Thunderbird and the same mailbox. Here it is possible to add an identity with an alternative e-mail address. Why isn't this possible in the Roundcube interface as well? Thank you in advance for your answers. Best regards, Tronde

Dashes all of a sudden prepended to HTML signature

See subject. All of a sudden (= since today) dashes are prepended to a HTML signature...?! Two when composing a new message, three upon replying. My signatures do contain dashes already, so I'd prefer if they wouldn't be touched in any way (as before). Or is there a sound reason for that? And if so, why does it apply to HTML sigs only then? Hi ! just finishing roudcube db backup via mysqldump, noticed that session table has 105K rows, cache_messeges table about 162K rows. Does rcu database needs some kind of maintenance? Version 1.0.6 requires php-pear-Console_CommandLine which we don't package. The INSTALL file in the tarball says * PEAR packages distributed with Roundcube or external: - Mail_Mime 1.8.1 or newer - Mail_mimeDecode 1.5.5 or newer - Net_SMTP (latest from https://github.com/pear/Net_SMTP/) - Net_IDNA2 0.1.1 or newer - Auth_SASL 1.0.6 or newer - Net_Sieve 1.3.2 or newer (for managesieve plugin) - Crypt_GPG 1.2.0 or newer (for enigma plugin) but when building it, our build system says Requires: pear(Console/CommandLine.php) pear(Net/LDAP2.php) pear(Net/Socket.php) pear(PEAR.php) pear(PEAR/Exception.php) this means pear(Console/CommandLine.php) is mentioned somewhere in a file of the package, even if it wouldn't be needed. Setting Attachment size limit with NGINX

I've set up Rc running on nginx but cannot figure out how to increase my attachment size limit. It's perpetually stuck at 5mb. My php backend is php-fpm. I've played with my php.ini values for upload and memory limits and I've also adjusted / set the post size limit in my nginx config but nothing doing. What am I missing? Thanks everyone. -- Fabe

Roundcube grouping messages together in threads against my will

A couple weeks ago, Roundcube started grouping messages and replies to said messages in a thread, so that I have to dig through a thread to find new messages...as opposed to the way it used to work, which was to put new messages on the top of the stack of my inbox. I don't think I accidentally caused this to happen in the settings. How can I make Roundcube work the way it used to?

Just had this issue: Initiated a search for messages across all folders with "df.eu" in the "To" header. The search result returned all messages with "df.eu" in the "From" header instead?! My users log into Roundcube 1.0.2 using only their username (as opposed to username@domain). I further configured Roundcube to connect to the IMAP server at localhost. I have tried to set mail_domain, but outgoing mail still contains user@localhost in the from address field. I'm attempting to install roundcube 1.1.0 on OpenBSD 5.7. Hopefully I have supplied enough info. for someone to give me a hand. People, I started getting this message on one particular folder and now I am getting it on a few - a different message but the same problem is when I look for only "Unread" messages in other folders. I am not sure what has caused this - I have edited contacts and added mail folders . . there are no messages in the roundcubemail logs when I look at one of these folders and I added debugging to dovecot but that didn't show anything interesting . . No matter the OPcache settings, I can successfully attach PDF files, but other file types (i.e. JPG, PNG, TXT) cause the Apache child process deaths. For example, I can attach foo.pdf without problems, but if I rename the file to foo.png, I see crashes. So far I could not find anything related to the file sizes. Could the problem be rooted in the way Roundcube, PHP 5.5 and Apache 2.4 are handling different MIME types? There is no virus checker involved who could choke on different file types, so what could it be? -R

Hail, I use roundcube for a mail server that I use alone, so I chose sqlite as db. The last time I got to make it run, but now this is not true anymore :( I used the initial sqlite command: sqlite3 -init SQL/sqlite.initial.sql config/sqlite_db and then I get write errors for the roundcube install/index.php test: DSN (write): OK DB Schema: OK DB Write: NOT OK([14] unable to open database file (SQL Query: INSERT INTO "session" ("sess_id", "created", "ip", "vars") VALUES ('6ec44d990f8e706a6a7c1b1e344e6f90', datetime('now'), '127.0.0.1', 'foo'))) DB Time: OK I tried to fiddle with the sqlite db file, to the point I got the "initialize db" on the install script. I click on it, and I get also an error. Is sqlite supposed to work ? Am I doing anything wrong ? I looked for sqlite install instructions, but all I get is http://trac.roundcube.net/browser/github/INSTALL?rev=c4a2264ae7a4f333116a55… and I do as said there. I installed sqlite2, no good also. Hi All, I'm experiencing a issue with roundcube, when i receive an e-mail,roundcube show the "new message" notification but no new message shown in list. Same issue if I manually refresh e-mails or by pressing F5 on my browser for refreshing the webpage. connection error (failed to reach the server)

Hello, it was brought to my attention a few months ago that a mac user was seeing the following pop up dialogue box in roundcube with some frequency: connection error (failed to reach the server) At the time, I was chasing a problem with apache where hundreds of connections would open up within a matter of a minute or two, maxing out the allowed connections, and causing roundcube to be unavailable for about 1 minute a few times a day. Didnt' take me long to figure out the IP causing the apache problem was the same user reporting the error pop up. I never did figure out the root of the problem, but I suspected it had to do with the self-signed certs and the CA not being installed on the client's mac. A while later, another mac user started reporting the same error popping up, and I saw the same spike in http connections from this user's IP addresses. Investigated more, got the CA cert installed on this mac, didn't fix the problem, ended up again with no solution. Reloading apache always worked, but it was hard to be on hand whenever the connections spiked, so I wrote a little script that checks the number of connections and reloads apache when it gets over 400 connections. That solved the apache problem (bubblegum, I know), so I called it a mac anomaly put it on the back burner. the error popup didn't actually stop anything from working, just had to click it closed every few minutes, and my customers were amiable to doing just that. Over the last couple of months, I have learned/seen that the same popup happens on ipads and windows computers as well. I just worked on one windows computer where the popup happened in chrome/firefox/IE, with the CA installed so there is no certificate error. Conversely, I use roundcube every where I go on a wide variety of computers, and I do not see this error very often, if ever (can't remember seeing it while logged into my personal account right now). I definitely cannot reproduce it on my ubuntu machine in the office. Best as I can tell on google, the error indicates an http connection failure, but nothing actually fails to work. I can find nothing in the roundcube logs nor the apache logs, which I suppose is expected if the client is failing to connect to the server. The internet connections in my part of the world lack the speed the rest of the world sees; for example and average business/residential connection has a 512Kbps or 768Kbps upload speed, but surely just navigating in roundcube wouldn't flood that? The computer I was just working on is a few years old and a tad underpowered by modern standards, but for a minimal install of windows 7 it isn't sluggish, and cpu/RAM usage don't spike when roundcube is open. And the spike in http connections to the server did not happen, so I am not longer certain if that is related. Does anyone have a suggestion on how I might track the cause of this annoying popup? Text signature vs. HTML signature

Hi there, although I do really hate HTML messages (and their multipart/alternative incarnations, as they're most often misformatted), there's sometimes no way around it to use them. Especially if you're starting an own business and need to compose messages with HTML signatures, including a logo and this kind of stuff. So I expected Roundcube to be able to create a) a signature in plain text format for text messages, and b) an alternative signature in HTML format for HTML messages - for the same account, of course. Therefore, today I played the very first time with the toggle "HTML signature". But I really don't get what this option does (or should do). Hi all, I am posting here because when upgrading from RC 0.5.4 to RC 1.1.1 I am getting this error when I try to delete a message from Inbox folder, the rest works fine. Server Error: Unable to send command: A0009 UID EXPUNGE 18748 Even though the message is deleted from the mailbox, but it is quite annoying to have it there. It just weird that it happens only to the INBOX folder. With the previous version it worked fine, no error message was displayed. External AD/LDAP server address book

Hello, I'm trying to add an address book from an external LDAP server for one of our clients in our shared roundcube installation. From what I could tell roundcube supports this[0] but I would like to know if I can filter that address book only to appear to clients in a specific domain. Is this possible natively? In case it isn't, would it be necessary/possible to create a plugin for roundcube? It's similar to entering https://www.google.com/?q=query+string into your browser's address bar. This wouldn't require any loss of security as RC can already verify authentication state before processing a request. I'm trying to develop an interface to roundcube and would like to pass it a search query for a specific folder. Does anyone know a proper way to do this over a HTTP GET request? I've tried these queries after viewing the headers during the AJAX search query (*string* is the URL encoded search query): https://roundcube/?_task=mail&_mbox=Archive&_action=search&_q=*string* https://roundcube/?_task=mail&_filter=ALL&_q=*string*&_mbox=Archive&_remote… Neither proved successful. Please, can anybody help me configure my email identity settings? My friend can receive emails to his webmail identy without filling in his REPLY-TO. For me I've tried asking him but he is selfish and would not like to tecah me. How do I receive messages to my webmail id if my SENDER EMAIL is added and no REPLY-TO?Thanks.

is it possible to disable use_secure_urls for some pages?

Hi, Enabling use_secure_urls has some side effects which I'm looking at how to solve. For example, a user might have defined a bookmark to the RC login page (www.example.com/webmail/). This works find just as long as the user is not yet logged in. However if the user is already logged in and the user wants to check whether there is any new mail and therefore clicks the bookmark, an error page with "Access to this service was denied due to failing security checks!" is shown. The user should then click the "click here to try again" link which will redo the request but now with the correct token in the URL. Since the GET request is redone but now with the correct token added, to me it looks like checking the URL token for GET requests will not bring additional security because if the user clicks the "click here to try again" link, the request will be done anyway. Is it possible to disable the secure URL check for certain pages and/or requests? Perhaps with a plugin? or is it all or nothing? Kind regards, Martijn Brinkers

I am examining the features and benefits of roundbox webmail. Since I have 7 years of mailboxes using OpenWebMail, another webmail, I have to take the decision if it is worth to migrate to roundcube now that I am contracting a different VPS with 1&1. First, if all my Sendmail mailserver OpenWebMail mailboxes contents Inbox, Sentmail, etc, can be read by roundcube or not. Second, compare the features of each one. OpenWebMail has tons of features, webdisk, multilanguage, customization, etc. and so does roundcube, so is there someone who knows OpenWebMail and can assist in comparing both? Much obliged !

Hello, in the password plugin of the latest roundcubemail-1.1.1 the change password connection is not working because of an error, causing a "$addr cannot be empty ()" error in my log. The file drivers/vpopmaild.php has to patched in this way - $result = $vpopmaild->connect($hostname, $port, null); + $result = $vpopmaild->connect($host, $port, null); at the beginning of the save() method. regards Roberto

Connection to storage server failed

My one active Roundcubemail user started getting this message recently and of course cannot access his mail. So I googled it and landed at: http://help.directadmin.com/item.php?id=473 I did the process of deleting his dovecot files. My directory layout is different, everything is under /home/vmail/doman/user/ Still cannot log in, and now no dovecot files (btw, I tested this with one of my accounts that uses Thunderbird for imap connections and new dovecot files were built). I read on down the suggestions, but am not finding anything. I can't really tell about the password problem, as I use mysql for the password. Any suggestions of how to fix this?

Hello, some days ago I did a cleam installation of Roundcube, as offered I downloaded version 1.1.0. Installation went well, Roundcube is working as intended. Yesterday I installed calendar-plugin, an run: mysql -u root -p roundcubemail < /var/lib/roundcube/plugins/calendar/drivers/database/SQL/mysql.initial.sql After typing the password I get: ERROR 1064 (42000) at line 26: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MariaDB server version for the right syntax to use near 'tinyint(1) NOT NULL DEFAULT '0', `created` datetime NOT NULL DEFAULT '1000-01-' at line 7 Is there a problem with the SQL-code, or is this a problem with MariaDB? Embedding roundcube UI into AngularJS application

Hello, I am about to integrate roundcube with existing CRM application we develop. Other than creating plugins for server side and client side, I plan to embed roundcube inline into existing application build on AngularJS. The plan is to embed roundcube UI into AngularJS app using an iframe element: 1) Configure roundcube to render only email related UI, without "chrome" elements, i.e. header and footer. 2) Apply our styling to all roundcube UI, using a plugin. 3) Implement plugins allowing to add UI elements and behaviour to roundcube UI for quick interaction with our CRM using postMessage API. The goal is to create smooth integration allowing users to work with email and CRM information at the same time. Hi list, I've recently upgraded to PHP 5.6 and this problem has shown up: roundcube: cdfopen: Could not open: 0 could not connect to the host " myhost.mydomain.me": stream_socket_client(): unable to connect to ssl:// 127.0.0.1:443 (Unknown error) I've loaded the CA file into "openssl.cafile" php.ini but no workey. Could anybody shed some light on the nature of the error, or at least how to get more debugging info in order to fix it? I'm using RC 1.0.4 Thanks! - leo

Here's a question. I like the idea of pop mail. My mail program downloads my mail from my mail server and that's it. The mail is deleted from my mail server. With webmail, my mail server has all my mail forever, for easy reading at their leisure. Now I realize that there is no longer any trust in this world, that the NSA has long since destroyed all that, betrayed us all, and that the internet is actually no more than a spy platform now rather than the glorious enabler of freedom that we, I anyway, foolishly thought it was ... that darpa played us all for fools. Still ... What I do now is set my mail reading program to retrieve my mail from my mail provider, save what I want locally using my mail reading program, then use round cube to answer what I want to answer and move all the mail to the trash before exiting. I have to use round cube to answer my mail because my provider offers only imap and does not allow me to send imap mail except through its round cube. For all I know sdf.org is operated by th NSA. I asked, got no response. So how do I know my mail is really being deleted at my mail provider's server. Google never ever deletes mail. The only one who loses access to deleted google mail is the person to whom it is addressed. I assume the same is true of round cube mail? That my email provider retains copies of all my mail, and the only who loses access to it is myself when I delete it? I also realize that my provider could simply copy all my pop3 mail on receipt ... but at least that is a overt dirty filthy trick. It seems to be a 'feature' of webmail?

Turn off addressee autocomplete on a per-user basis

I've recently been exposed to a Roundcude installation that's being trialled. Because some of the other people who will be using it desire autocomplete capability, the installation has two lisst of Contact info enabled by default, a personall address book and another which is a local LDAP server. I can't seem to remove that LDAP addressbook entry from my list of Contacts, or at least toggle it on/off. I am actually wanting to turn off autocomplete altogether but removing the things that allow autocomplete to function seemed like a good place to start. I'd also like, when having typed the username of someone in the default domain into the To: list NOT to have Roundcube tell me that I need at least one recipient when I know I already have one. Any clues?

mailto: from firefox

Hi, I'd like to be able to click on a mailto: link in firefox (iceweasel) and have it handled in another tabe by the round cube that handles my mail account. I didn't see a way to add another webmail client in firefox 31.4.0, so I typed about:config in the location box and searched for mailto:, and found the entries for yahoo and gmail. Since I have no gmail account I overwrote the name and uri there, specifying the uri I use for round cube on my account. But nothing happened. Yahoo and Gmail still show up under Edit | Preferences | Applications | mailto:, although about:config does show gmail gone and my mail provider's uri in its place. As well, Yahoo and Gmail had other stuff in the uri to reflect composition mode and the address to send to. How do I invoke round cube from firefox passing the to address and starting a compose session? Thanks.

Errors after upgrading to 1.1.0 - Class "PEAR" not found and Class "Mail_mime" not found

Hi, Thanks in advance for reading this. --- Prior to upgrading to 1.1.0 my Roundcube 1.0.5 installation (Ubuntu 12.04 LTS) worked just fine. When I went to run the bin/update.sh command like so: bin/update.sh --package roundcube --version=1.1 --dir=./SQL I received this error: PHP Fatal error: Class 'PEAR' not found in /var/www/roundcubemail/program/lib/Roundcube/bootstrap.php on line 100 I checked and found mention of php-pear in this official installation guide: http://trac.roundcube.net/wiki/Howto_Install I installed that package and was then able to successfully complete the db schema upgrade process. Later when I attempted to respond to an email the "Sending message..." note stayed on screen much longer than expected. I looked in the error logs and found this message: roundcube: PHP Fatal error: Class 'Mail_mime' not found in /var/www/roundcubemail/program/steps/mail/sendmail.inc on line 362 I looked through all three guides and did not find mention of "mime": * http://trac.roundcube.net/wiki/Howto_Install * http://trac.roundcube.net/wiki/Howto_Upgrade * http://trac.roundcube.net/wiki/Howto_Requirements nor did I find instructions telling me to use PEAR to install any modules. I did see mention of Composer, but the guides above made no reference to it that I could find. On the getcomposer.org site I looked at the "Using Composer" section: https://getcomposer.org/doc/00-intro.md#using-composer which suggested running: php composer.phar install but I did not find a composer.phar file. I did find a composer.json-dist file, but no references to composer.json or composer.json-ist in the documentation (aside from some rewrite rules blocking direct access). Are there missing steps in the directions?

While sending mail other than our mail server we are getting error message SMTP Error (550): Failed to add recipient "arjunaju108(a)gmail.com" (Please turn on SMTP Authentication in your mail client, or login to the IMAP/POP3 server before sending your message. (email.origamitechnologies.com) [192.254.190.128]:41201 is not permitted to relay through this server without authentication.) hi, i'm trying to export all users address books for a mail server migration (roundcube 0.9.2 to zimbra). some of the users have around 100-500 contacts grouped into several groups. i was able to export and import all the contacts by exporting the 'contacts' table from mysql to a csv file, but then i don't have the groups info. any ideas about how can i migrate the groups info from the address book?

Roundcube login error

I had installed and configured RoundCube 1.0.4 as an internet User Interface. The problem that I am facing is that whenever I am using ipaddress of the server to login to roundcube there is no problem but whenever I am writing the domain name of my server in the address bar , every time the login page displays but on typing the username, password and submitting it displays the error " Your session is invalid or expired ".. I have raised tickets in Roundcube but could not get much help. Can someone help me on this issue? Thanks in advance. Sharmistha B

After upgrading php to version 5.6 with all related packages such as apache, I cannot log into my mail account anymore (I am running my own e-mail test server on a virtualbox) I think I am honing in on the problem: I upgraded everything from mageia4 to mageia5 but not: roundcubemail php apache and I do not have problem to login. Attachments "disappear" when sending email with RC 0.9.5

We have the problem that from time to time attachments get lost when sending an email. Roundcube shows that all the attachments have been added to a mail, but when receiving the mail some attachments are missing. We checked the mails after they left RC and saw that RC submits these mails with missing attachments to the smtp server. The problem is that it is very hard to reproduce the problem as it does not occur with every mail containing multiple attachments. Out of 20 of our tests maybe one shows the problem. After some research I found the following bug report: http://trac.roundcube.net/ticket/1488422 For me it sounds like the problem we have but according to the information there it should be resolved in the version of RC we use. Is there a way to strip arbitrary characters from a users login input. Ie: one may consider something like periods in the local_part to be arbitrary. So logging in a "user", "u.ser" or "u.s.e.r" all result in the same user. plugin_manager not visible

Hi All, I just installed plugin_manager (downloaded and copied it into the plugins folder). I also added it in the main config: File "C:\inetpub\wwwroot\roundcubemail\config\config.inc.php" $config['plugins'] = array('plugin_manager'); After login in, a popup was shown that I need submit some SQL statements against the database which I did. Now plugin_manager is listed in the "about" section, but that is all. It is not visible in the Settings section and there was no popup providing the md5 hash key for the myrc file. It just does not show up... Did I miss something? btw: I'm running RC on Windows using IIS. Thanks Konrad

I'm running roundcube-1.1-beta, have installed a few plugins that are working fine, I installed kolab/calendar and kolab/libcalendaring plugins via the tar they provide on the kolab site: roundcubemail-plugins-kolab-3.2.1 I followed the README in the calendar plugin, configured and then initiated the database, but when I click the new calendar tab within the roundcube UI I get the error [29-Dec-2014 20:32:33 America/Chicago] PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined method rcube_user::list_emails() in /var/www/html/lowf.at/roundcube/plugins/calendar/calendar.php on line 1591 Is anyone running the kolab/calendar from that 3.2.1 bundle? I looked through the RC forum, wiki, but don't see anything related to this, let me know if there's a better place to ask this. As an aside, I'm running my own mailserver again, but used to and used RC maybe 3 years ago, and I'm really amazed at how the project has progressed, it's really slick. Thanks

Hi, I just installed roundcube and also the plugin manager, but I cannot access the plugin manager UI as I do not know how to make my user an admin user. Is this a setting in the config file? Or where else do I specify which user is an admin user (with access to the plugin manager UI)? At the moment, I can login but I do only have access to my mailbox and to my personal mailbox settings, but not to any admin related settings. Thanks Konrad

I have a directory structure like this: username/ username/domain1_com username/domain2_com And would like to use Roundcube separately at domain1.com/webmail and domain2.com/webmail I assume I install once in username/roundcube/ and use Alias /webmail /path/to/username/roundcube for each domain. RC 1.0.4 issue

I upgraded an RC 0.9 installation to RC 1.0.4. I have clients set to automatically mark messages as read after 5 seconds. When I view an unread message for more than 5 seconds, I get the following error message: Server Error: SELECT: Client tried to access nonexistent namespace. (Mailbox name should probably be prefixed with: INBOX.) I can manually set the message as read. Any suggestions on where I should look? --Steve Fintel

Hi, I just installed RC 1.0.4 on CentOS server. PHP version is 5.3.3 (fastcgi). I completed installer successfully. When I try to open http://domain..../webmail I get blank page. Using Roundcube for a remote account?

I have Roundcube installed on my web server to access the accounts on my mail server. I have a friend who has his mail and website hosted at a third party, but they only offer squirreltail (with no plugins) or Horde (which will not display his HTML email because that is a global setting) or standard IMAP via a client0side MUA. I do not want to host his site or email, but I am willing to setup Roundcube for him, if I can. What I would need to be able to do is have him load up a roundcube instance on my machine and then… login with his account info for the third party host? I mean, it seems as this would work if Roundcube is essentially acting as an MUA, but is it? I am assuming this would have to be an entirely different Roundcube install just for him. I know it would be easier to just use a regular MUA, but he’s old and set in his way and his idea of the Internet is Launching Internet Explorer. Having another application just for email would be difficult for him, and would then be difficult for me. He’s used to webmail though, and that’s what he’s used for years, so RC seems like an idea. Oh, and if possible I’d like to setup this instance of Roundcube so that only his account is allowed to try to login to the third party provider. I don’t want to become an alternate webmail for everyone else. So, is this possible? Am I just asking for trouble? -- History had wanted surgery. Sometimes Dr Chopper is the only surgeon to hand. There's something final about an axe.

Hello, I don't know if it's offtopic or not, but I'm having an issue, which I know is not roundcube related. When I answer to an email using my smartphone, it automatically adds "RE:" at the beggining of the subject, so I often end up with threads with very very long subject. how stable is the dev version

Like others have said the current editor is a shambles, my level of complaints has not reached a point I try the dev branch, or move to probably horde, so is anyone using the dev branch in production? (something I never do, but in rare cases, like this mess, it is a possible reality). Or is the next stable release not too far off, I need to resolve this before Christmas.

Open PDF for viewing instead of Save option

People, I can't remember if this option used to be available but for some time I haven't been able to view PDF attachments in another tab - now I only get the option to Save the PDF to disk. I have tried both Chrome and FireFox with no difference and there are no errors in the Apache logs - what I am missing? 1.0.3 don't show messages in Spam folder (but there are)

Hi, I'm running Roundcube 1.0.3 with dovecot as IMAP server. Some users when login into webmail don't see any messages in the Spam folder (but the messages are on the server and via "telnet" with "EXAMINE Spam" they are present). The only way to show these messages are to select show "Unread" and after show "All", so Roundcube show it. The problem seems to be that Roundcube does not controll at all the Spam folder, if I login via webmail and click on the Spam folder, after I login via telnet in IMAP and do "EXAMINE Spam" the messagges are mark as "Recent". After the telnet test also Roundcube can see the messages. How can fix?

People, I have had a request for an enhancement on the books for a couple of years but it hasn't gotten anywhere (ie an option to display only folders that have unread mail in them [like ThunderBird] - I have hundreds of folders and subfolders and I am forever scrolling . .). So, how about this as an alternative that would suit my setup: When the Inbox has the focus, allow jumping down to the next folder with unread mail in it by using CTRL-DownArrow ? Managesieve and special characters

Hi, I'm new to Roundcube and encountered some problems with the Managesieve plugin and Dovecot. I have some mailboxes with special characters (like "&" and "é") and the plugin escapes them, whereas Dovecot apparently does not need to escape them… So, I had to manually edit the Sieve rules, or Dovecot could not find the matching inbox. I'm not sure whether it's a bug or not, and who is the real responsible for this (Dovecot / PidgeonHole / Roundcube). Have you ever encountered something like this ? Thanks -- Phyks

Hi, I created at file system level a custom folder "Archive" in every Maildir. Is there a way to let RC auto-suscribe those new folders? I put this in defaults.inc.php $config['default_folders'] = array('INBOX', 'Drafts', 'Sent', 'Junk', 'Trash', 'Archive'); $config['create_default_folders'] = true; But this works only for NEW users (never logged in) have Archive folder already subscribed. People, In a Reply to a message I always used to use: - A quoted message in a new window - With the signature at the bottom of the email but with the cursor positioned at the top of the email I do this because I nearly always do inline responses to the individual points. Roundcube message retrieval takes >12 seconds

I have an IMAP acount with about 1200 folders (nested in some fashion or another). And they are all subscribed as well. When a message is loaded (ie: double clicked) RoundCube is calling: LIST (SUBSCRIBED) "" "*" This results in dovecot/IMAP sending back the list and Apache going to 100% CPU usage during this time (dovecot is fine) -- it takes over 12s to view a single message. Why is RC making a LIST call when a message is fetched? Is there a way to disable this? Thanks, G H

PHP 5.6 - Roundcube 1.0.3 - Valid certificate

Hi gents, I've just upgraded my server to PHP 5.6 and ran straight into the invalid cert issue. It seems that by default, PHP will now check if the certificate is actually valid! That's quite a nice feature but a slight pain when you are mostly dealing with self-signed certificates. Now, I did go ahead and upgrade to an actual valid certificate! Unfortunately, it seems that when you are using : $config['default_host'] = 'ssl://localhost'; or $config['smtp_server'] = 'localhost'; The connection will fail because the hostname you provide isn't actually the one registered to the certificate? Now, I did have a workaround by replace 'localhost' by my external FQDN but that's very elegant or efficient. I'd rather see the connection stay internal if I can. This link <https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=187063> does seem to provide some solutions and I've tried using : $config['imap_conn_options'] = array( 'ssl' => array( 'verify_peer' => false, 'verfify_peer_name' => false, ), ); and $config['smtp_conn_options'] = array( 'ssl' => array( 'verify_peer' => false, 'verify_peer_name' => false, ), ); With no results so far. Is there something incredibly obvious that I'm missing? Here is the error log : IMAP Error: Login failed for x@x from x. Hi, all. When I thread my e-mail, the first e-mail in the thread is the one that shows in my inbox. Is there a way to reverse that order, and make it that the most recent e-mail shows? I'd vastly prefer to know that John sent me a reply five minutes ago, than that Joe started the thread two weeks ago. Thanks! -Ken

Not all mails shown for selected folder

Hi! I lately migrated my Squirremail to Roundcube 1.0.2 (with courier-imap 4.10.0 from Debian Wheezy as backend) and at first everything seemed fine. But now more and more users report they don't see all mails when they select a folder, which I am able to verify once I log in from my system with their user and a master-password. It for example only shows three unread mails while at the same time displaying something like "1 to 50 of 342 mails" in the list status. What I did so far: - switched from memcached to db for the index_cache - disabled the index_cache - disabled SORTing in the IMAP server I enabled the imap debug log in a test system which show the same problem. I can see roundcube fetches all messages, but displays only some of them. Sometimes I can get all messages to display after I wildly toggle the search filter from "All" to "Unread" or "Marked" or "with attachments" and back and forth and back again. So far I am quite desperate because there is a mob with pitchforks forming outside of my office. Has anybody seen that behavior? Any idea how to debug this any further? Issue with login

The password change plugin is not working. I am using the same config file I used on my old test server where it worked. Does this plugin use php-mcrypt (which I do not have yet for armv7)? I am installing roundcubemail on a Redsleeve6 server from the tarball: roundcubemail-1.0.3.tar.gz As the RSEL repo does not provide a roundcubemail rpm (like Centos6 does). So I am going through the install (I now have all dependencies other than php-mcrypt) and see the following: // Set the spell checking engine. Possible values: // - 'googie' - the default // - 'pspell' - requires the PHP Pspell module and aspell installed // - 'enchant' - requires the PHP Enchant module // - 'atd' - install your own After the Deadline server or check with the people at http://www.afterthedeadline.com before using their API // Since Google shut down their public spell checking service, you need to // connect to a Nox Spell Server when using 'googie' here. Therefore specify the 'spellcheck_uri' $config['spellcheck_engine'] = 'googie'; And the install web page said that if you select google, then the mail is sent to google for spell checking? But here in the config file, it implies that 'service' is no longer available and there is a spellcheck_uri, but I don't see the syntax for that in the config file. So where can I get instructions for the spell checking? Or to just turn it off for now? pspell and enchant do not seem to be options.

temp directory

I am looking at my old test setup on Centos6, and the tempdir is set to: main.inc.php:$rcmail_config['temp_dir'] = '${_tmppath}'; I can't find where the variable tmppath is defined though at a guess it is some Centos apache or php default temp path? I see that the main.inc.php is gone and the format now is: config.inc.php:$config['temp_dir'] = '<your temp directory here>'; So I tried: config.inc.php:$config['temp_dir'] = '${_tmppath}'; And of course this did not work. I was not supprised. How might I figure out how tmppath is defined, or where is a better place for temp files than under /usr/share? Like /tmp/? thanks

Time for new HTML Editor

Evening, This has been mentioned on the list before, but I think it's time to make a stand and call for a new more intelligent HTML editor for in time the next release. The constant stream of complaints for when replying and trying to quote inline is becoming most annoying for us and some others I've talked to on IRC, the inability to enter comments inline without converting to TEXT, or editing the HTML, without making it appear the original sender, said what you are saying, is a pure joke. Try telling the average 80yo person how to edit the HTML insert this that save, click blockquote blah blah blah then type in your reply, this might be fine for those who know how and want to waste the time doing so,and reply to one or two message, but thats half a minute per message off someones life that doesnt need to be, amongst the heated anger they have for it being this way. And for many reasons many users need HTML so can not convert to text in replies. We never had to do this in squirelmail, we dont have to do it in gmail, hotmail, yahoo, etc etc etc So I think its high time for a new editor, one that works! or do we need to go back to squirellmail? At ;least we could hit enter and it would break up the quote lines the way they should.

Our Wish List for Encryption Browser Extensions

Dear Roundcube devs and list lurkers PGP encryption for Roundcube is a repeatedly popping up topic. Of course we're also very much interested in providing a solid solution for end-to-end encryption as a standard part of Roundcube. I therefore tried to summarize the current situation in our wiki [1] and compiled a few wishes to current and future encryption browser plugins - from a webmail programmer's point of view of course: http://roundcubeinbox.wordpress.com/2014/10/10/our-wish-list-for-encryption… I think the approach with a locally installed browser extension to do the encryption part is the most sustainable at the moment. While Mailvelope [2] already does a pretty good job, please also give your attention to pEp [3] which adds some more simplicity and automation on top of standard encryption methods like PGP and S/MIME. After a recent meeting with the pEp developers, I'm really looking forward to see this become available, eventually also as a browser extension. So please support their crowd-funding campaign [4] and help them to make encryption easy for everyone. im having a lot of difficulty getting RC to work in debian jessie and since there isn't a package in the repos ive come here for some much needed help in summary, what is the correct procedure to get all above talking to each other ? are there any other dovecot/postfix packages that are pre requisites ? what needs to be added to: /etc/dovecot/dovecot-sql.conf.ext ? /etc/dovecot/conf.d/auth-sql.conf.ext ? /etc/dovecot/conf.d/10-auth.conf ? i have next to no experience with PHP but ive checked the options against /etc/php5/fpm/php.ini these are missing: - zend.ze1_compatibility_mode disabled - NA - suhosin.session.encrypt disabled - NA - magic_quotes_runtime disabled - NA - magic_quotes_sybase disabled - NA php has the required compiled in modules regarding nginx, ive not installed it from repos and it has many components disabled but it does support fast cgi, php-fpm, etc, and i can submit php web forms from the RC installer tests everything is ok except getting dovecot auth working after finishing the installer and going to login i can never complete login browser: "connection to storage server failed" mail.log dovecot: imap-login: Disconnected (no auth attempts in 0 secs): no errors logged for nginx or roundcube

Redsleeve is the arm port of Centos 6. So I am installing from the tar from roundcube.net and the installer script reports that: Checking PHP extensions The following modules/extensions are /required/ to run Roundcube: DOM: NOT OK(Could be loaded. Please add in php.ini; See http://www.php.net/manual/en/book.dom.php) The next couple of extensions are /optional/ and recommended to get the best performance: FileInfo: OK Mcrypt: NOT AVAILABLE(See http://www.php.net/manual/en/book.mcrypt.php) Intl: NOT AVAILABLE(See http://www.php.net/manual/en/book.intl.php) I don't see in the manual what to add to php.ini. Please advise. I have tried to find mcrypt (yum install mcrypt libmcrypt), but these are not the mcrypt it seems to want. And I don't know were to find the intl.php. thank you

Trying to download Roundcube

Over a year ago I did a test Roundcube install on Centos6. I am now building a Redsleeve6 (Centos on ARM) server. Given that the Centos repo is backdated on Roundcube, and the arm repo does not even have it, I have to go to the source and work from there. So I go to: http://roundcube.net/download/ and click on download complete (using firefox on Fedora20). I get the waiting on server for a while, and then nothing. No download started. Nothing. What is up? Or can someone give me a wget line that I can run directly from the arm (Cubietruck) server to get it where I need it anyway? thanks

Hi to all. I'm trying to use roundcube. I would like to understand how the ACL plugin works cause i'm interested in sharing mailbox. We have dovecot + postfix Roundcube is installed and working fine. I add in /var/lib/roundcube/config/main.inc.php the following $rcmail_config['plugins'] = array('acl'); But in webmail i can not see the relative ACL areas where the user can set the share settings. Hello Mailinglist, I’m trying to get Roundcube 1.0.2 to run. I’m using nginx-1.6.1_1,2 with php55-5.5.16. I access Roundcube via SSL, using Chrome, (Mobile) Safari or Firefox. With all browsers I get the message “Your session is invalid or expired.” when trying to log in. Clearing the cache did not help. Curiously even with debugging, no errors are logged. Google seems useless in this case, the most common issue may be the timezone, which I checked. I’m stuck here and would appreciate any helpful input! Thank you, Sebastian

Hi -- My setup: roundcube-1.0.2 + nginx-1.6.2 in a FreeBSD-10 jail. RC will connect to a recent dovecot server in another jail at the same host. Recently, after upgrading php from 5.4.32 to 5.4.33 roundcube will refuse to connect to dovecot: | roundcube: PHP Warning: fgets(): SSL read operation timed out in \ | /...path2rc.../roundcube/program/lib/Roundcube/rcube_imap_generic.php on line 200 Recompiling every port involved and restarting both involved jails hasn't been successful. hi, after upgrading vom rc 0.9.5 to 1.0.2 everything works fine for me but the search function does not. in some cases, the message list remains empty while the search result says "message 1 to 50 of 342". (see attachment) for example i want to search a sender by typing his "domain" or "domain.tld" of the email address, the message list is empty. when i search for "user(a)domain.tld", all search results are displayed in the message list. for other email addresses / domains / words ("gmail.com" for example), the search function works. same behaviour in both original themes. in rc 0.9.5 in all cases the same search works fine. i can't find any hint in the logfiles. any ideas? what kind of additional information do you need? regards stefan

Signature options

I am new to roundcube and having trouble setting up my signature. Have used 5 other eimail prgrams and never encontered this before. I see in "settings" I can select preferencesm I selct tghe section "composing messages"M I see main options with boxes I can chech and pull down menus. Below thgat is signature options but only one pulldown "automatically add signature" ( I selected 'always'. I checked the box saying "when replying remove original signature from message". That's it. There is no place for me to input what I want my signature to say. Any help would be appreciated. Not sure if's a roundcube problem or ISP problem. Resolved: Roundcube hangs on Sending/Saving

Hi, I recently ran into a problem which I'm documenting here in the hope it saves others some time (possibly also RC devs could be aware and consider logging a warning) The symptoms are that roundcube mostly works, but hangs with a Saving/Sending message at the bottom of the screen if you try and save/send. The browser is "frozen", in that you cannot click on other items on the page, and it's necessary to close the browser tab or do a full page reload to escape. The resolution was to remove security headers from my default nginx config: #add_header X-Frame-Options DENY; #add_header X-Content-Type-Options nosniff; I presume that the iframe option interferes with save/send process, hence why it breaks. I think it's not unreasonable, however, just documenting the problem here since it's a common option shown as a good default for a tightly secured webserver setup. Hey, I'm trying to have roundcube loadbalancing in 2 servers : fle.chunkz.net and ams.chunkz.net I'm using memcache to loadbalance the php sessions. I tried session_storage = php or session_storage = memcache. But none is working... I watch the cache on both servers with phpMemcachedAdmin it seems alright. People, I have two small mails from DLink - one of which contains base64 encoding but neither display the body of the mail in RCM but they both are readable with Mutt. I've looked at the headers etc and everything looks OK to me - is anyone motivated to look at them to work out what the problem is? When and How to cache?

Hi! I am currently deploying Roundcube as the main webmailer for my university. So far my beta-tests with a select group of users have been very positive. But before I push Roundcube on all my users who use webmail I wondered about the caching feature. When do I use the index cache? And how do I cache? Inside my MySQL database or via a memcached instance? My webmail service does not run on the same server as the IMAP service but on a different VM and in a different network but RTT between both is below 2ms. The documentation mentions that caching may even reduce performance in some situations but does not specify which situations. So far I have not be able to experience any slowdowns or speedups while using the index cache so I don't know if I gain anything by using or not-using it. ssl breaks roundcube ?

We recently improved our https configuration on lighttpd: https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=ruggedinbox.com but something seems to have broken roundcube .. can't properly attach files, can't send emails, sometimes can't logout. We are pointing the finger at ssl because when using roundcube as a Tor hidden service (thus bypassing ssl), everything works ok and smooth. Hello, I first tried posting this with my gmail and didn't see it showing up on the archive. So I wanted to make sure this went through so I used a non-free email domain. If I created a duplicate thread I apologize. Now on to the issue at hand. We just oddly started experiencing this issue. We've spent quite a bit of time troubleshooting with logging increased on both our IMAP servers (Debian Wheezy 7.6 64bit with dovecot vers 2.1.7-7+deb7u1 ) I am absolutely able to reproduce this on numerous accts, even with logging up to 8 we do not see any "ERROR" or any reason why the copy and expunge would fail. Our production copy of webmail was older (0.9-rc), so I suspected possibly it was a bug or something wrong with that version, so we created a "ourwebmail-new.foo.com" domain and do an inplace upgrade on our database (to preserve our address book and other client info), with no issues on upgrade to v 1.0.2 Currently we have been diffing a successful copy/move and an unsuccessful copy/move and just cant figure out what's going on To sum up: INBOX to SOME_RANDOM_FOLDER has copy/move WORKING INBOX to SUB_FOLDER_OF_INBOX simply says "An Error Occurred: Could not move the message(s). Due to it was slow I read a tuning guide which recommended installing Alternative PHP Cache for apache. ii apache2 2.2.22-13+deb7u3 amd64 Apache HTTP Server metapackage rc php-apc 3.1.13-1 amd64 APC (Alternative PHP Cache) module for PHP 5 ii php5 5.4.4-14+deb7u12 all server-side, HTML-embedded scripting language (metapackage) I installed and enabled it with pretty much default config and I think it did improve on the performance of the server but users started experiencing problem with the search function of the mails. I'm not 100% sure it was caused by APC. Errors: - Roundcube search sometimes when find messages is not able to open them - Messages which were moved from the Inbox to other folders manually are not appear there - When opening a specific letter (result of a search) it loads in another one in its body After these errors I decided removing APC and manually deleting roundcube's index files. Did anybody experience similar errors?

I've added the following line to attachments.inc, below your highlighted line: error_log( 'Error: '.$_FILES['_attachments']['error'][$i] ); My error log gives [Thu Aug 21 20:09:01 2014] [error] [client 192.168.0.10] Error: 0, referer: https://mydomain.com.au/mailnew/?_task=mail&_id=34525533553f5c3d98798e&_act… - ie. the error code is 0 whether a file is successfully attached or not. I assume therefore that this is an apache or a php problem. Are you able to give any pointers?

This is a very odd problem. I am able to attach/upload certain files, but not others. I'm not 100% sure about the exact types, but Word documents and .PDF files seem to be OK and I've been unable to upload JPG and RTF files. When I try to upload a file in Firefox, the spinner beside the name of the file in the upload file list spins forever. When I try to upload a file in IE it gives up and gives a "file upload failed" message. Nothing appears in the logs. Could this be something to do with line length in files (eg. RTF), or perhaps binary vs text files??? Its nothing to do with the size of the files - the .RTF file is only 5kb and I can upload a 46KB Word .DOC file. Some info: roundcube 0.9.5 apache 2.2.27-r4 php 5.5.15 main.inc.php: $rcmail_config['debug_level'] = 8; php.ini (additions to default): display_errors = Off log_errors = On error_reporting = E_ALL allow_url_fopen=1 allow_url_include=1 upload_max_filesize = 20M post_max_size = 20M max_execution_time = 60
