Dear Roundcube lovers We're proud to announce the next major release of the Roundcube webmail package: 0.6 is out now as beta. And it's packed with new features, some of them have been awaited for long time. So what's new? * A full-featured address book with rich contact information The address book UI was finally extended to store rich contact data including photos. We worked hard to create a flexible and intuitive UI to enter and manage the contact data. Along with that, import and export of vcards was improved to support all the new fields. If you have LDAP directories configured as address sources, you might review the configuration and map the new contact fields to the according LDAP attributes using the 'fieldmap' property. * Group support for LDAP address books While speaking of LDAP, the LDAP wrapper of Roundcube now also supports address groups thanks to the contribution of Andreas Dick. This requires some additional configuration which is described in the comments of config/main.inc.php.dist * ACL rights/namespace management plugin The new package includes a plugin which extends the folder manager to manage Access Control Lists according to RFC4314 and RFC2086. This allows one to share folders with other users if the IMAP server supports ACL. If there's a LDAP directory configured, the ACL manager even does auto-completion when adding a new user. * memcache support for session storage As an alternative to the SQL-based storage of user sessions, Roundcube 0.6 is now capable of using memcache for fast and redundant storage of session data. Set 'session_storage' and 'memcache_hosts' config options to enable it. * File uploads with progress display Using the features of the APC module, Roundcube can now display the progress of file uploads. This has to be enabled in config using the 'upload_progress' option. Make sure APC is available in PHP and that apc.rfc1867 is set in php.ini * Automated update process with database schema check Upgrading Roundcube installations has become an easy task with the new update shell script. Unpack the new package in some directory and then run bin/installto.sh <TARGETDIR> from there. TARGETDIR is the location of the Roundcube installation which you want to upgrade. The script then copies all files to the target directory and does all modifications necessary to get the database and config files up-to-date. * Exchange logo by config And last but not least, one can now set a customized logo by config without the necessity to create a new skin. We'd like to encourage all hosting providers to set the 'skin_logo' config option with an URL to their logo. This will hopefully clarify to your users, what service they're actually using. We registered an increased amount of support requests from users who don't understand that Roundcube is not a public service but that they have to contact their ISP for help. Of course there are also many improvements under the hood to make Roundcube faster, more stable and more secure. So go forth and install Roundcube 0.6 beta on your servers [1]. We recommend to test it on a separate environment and report bugs to our bug tracking system [2]. An improved and stabilized version will follow soon. A little note for skin developers: the new address book also brings the following new template objects which need to be placed in the HTML templates: contactphoto, contacthead, contactedithead, photouploadform. Running without auto-create and restricted identity management

Hi! I'm interested in running roundcube without user auto-creation. How, then, can I create the roundcube users? I couldn't find any documentation on this, only the installer informed me that I would have to do it if I did not enable auto creation. I'm also interested in restricting identity management for users so they can't change their email address. However, how can I actually set this up in the first place? Some of my users have Unix accounts so don't log in using full email address, so the email address needs to be set explicitly. Any help would be appreciated. Problem Importing Contacts from Google

I have the latest trunk version of roundcube (revision 5070) and I am having problems importing contacts from Google. I am having the issue using the regular import in the addressbook from vCard format and also with the google_contacts plugin. Basically what I am doing is exporting my contacts from Google into a vCard (.vcf) format file. Then in roundcube I go to the addressbook, click the import button, select the vCard file and import. The import results just say that 0 contacts were imported and nothing ever goes in the address book. I know that this worked in the past, but I am not sure why it is not working now. Save sent messages without attachments.

Is it possible to give the user the possibility to select if he/she wants the saved sent message (not to save the message, assuming he is saving it), without the attachments? Default timezone for users

I have set in config/main.inc.php : $rcmail_config['timezone'] = 'America/New_York'; And /etc/php.ini: ; Defines the default timezone used by the date functions ; http://www.php.net/manual/en/datetime.configuration.php#ini.date.timezone date.timezone = "America/New_York" However, whenever a user logs into Roundcube (and gets a new record in the database with no user-specific preferences yet), they are still seeing the date/times of messages in the Inbox as UTC. I have to login as that user, go to their user-specific settings and set the timezone to the "(GMT -5:00) Eastern Time" choice in the drop-down menu for the timezone. Does Roundcube not understand 'America/New_York'? Hi, I have several domains hosted on my box. At the moment, I am logging on with username@domain scheme, but I'd like to be able to login with the username scheme. I've already configured the drop-down with the mail servers. How to decrease check-recent interval

Hi, I want to decrease the check-recent interval to 10s. I have looked around in the config file and set the following values: //sec $rcmail_config['keep_alive'] = 12; //min $rcmail_config['session_lifetime'] = 10; //sec $rcmail_config['min_keep_alive'] = 10; I also understood that the users preferences override these settings in the configfile so I changed the following as well. In programs/steps/settings/save_prefs.inc: 'keep_alive' => isset($_POST['_keep_alive']) ? intval($_POST['_keep_alive'])*10 : $CONFIG['keep_alive'], Changing 60 to 10 would, in my opinion, let me choose between 10, 30 och 50 seconds interval for check recent (Because the select-list in the gui has 3 values: 1,3 and 5). But this doesn't work for me. It still checks every 1min, even after restart of apache2. Is there anywhere else I need to change to get my desired interval? Roundcube problem

Hi there Under "settings" I went to "preferences" tab and in "user interface" I changed interface skin from default to aerosat (my service provider). Now I am unable to change back to default because when I go into settings and preferences, the list with user interface does not appear. How do I change back to default? password plugin

I'm testing password plugin using poppassd. I'm just wondering if there's a way I can set rules such as there should be numbers or characters in the New Password. Without numbers or characters, change password will fail. There are already password minimum length so I think what I want is possible its just that I'm not a php programmer and don't know how will I implement it. Roundcube 0.5.2 installation on debian squeeze with postgresql

Hi all. I'm trying to install Roundcube 0.5.2 on a debian server using postgresql and I'm desperately looking for a tutorial, a how-to... A pointer to any lead would be appreciated. Here are more details concerning the context and the issue(s) I am facing. Before last week-end, il was running a nice debian lenny with a roundcube (0.3, I believe) installed by decompressing an archive in /usr/share/roundcube. After the upgrade to squeeze (which broke a few things...), I thought I might as well upgrade to a newer version of roundcube. A backport package being provided, I decided to use it : http://packages.debian.org/squeeze-backports/roundcube (along with the package for pgsql, and all necessary dependencies) It seems like a lot of things have changed between 0.3 and 0.5. Perhaps the debian packagers have introduced modifications as well. The installation used to involve accessing roundcube through its web page (URL/installer) and following the online configuration (database, etc). It looks like this does not existe anymore. Concerning the DB, the config used to go like : pgsql://roundcube:password@localhost/roundcube and now it is in /etc/roundcube/debian-db.php, generated from /etc/dbconfig-common/roundcube.conf (Or perhaps is this specific to debian packaging ?) Apparently I did not manage to configure the DB access correctly : The error messages are : On the web page DATABASE ERROR: CONNECTION FAILED! Unable to connect to the database! Please contact your server-administrator. /var/log/apache2/error.log MDB2 Error: not found (-4): no RDBMS driver specified /var/log/roundcube/errors DB Error: no RDBMS driver specified in /usr/share/roundcube/program/include/rcube_mdb2.php on line 101 (GET /) I believe I entered the correct access parameters but I don't know where I indicated that postgresql is to be used (except when choosing its only .deb package). /etc/roundcube/debian-db.php : $dbuser='roundcube'; $dbpass='password'; $basepath=''; $dbname='roundcube'; $dbserver=''; $dbport=''; $dbtype=''; (It is a single server installation). I don't understand all parameters in /etc/dbconfig-common/roundcube.conf # dbc_dbtype: type of underlying database to use # this exists primarily to let dbconfig-common know what database # type to use when a package supports multiple database types. # don't change this value unless you know for certain that this # package supports multiple database types dbc_dbtype='' Should I modify dbc_dbtype ? Is there a guide for these parameters, apart from the comments ? Am I supposed to modify this file anyway ? Or is there any installer I didn't find already ? Remarks : * First mistake, I thought the package would not install in the same place as the installation I was already using, so I didn't move /usr/share/roundcube before processing. Therefore, I may have lost some of my old config (config directory was not modified, though). Anyway, it should not be an issue if I manage to get the new version up and running. I moved /usr/share/roundcube, then uninstalled through aptitude, then reinstalled, to get a clean directory. I don't think this is important but I might be wrong. * I already have a database populated, so it's rather like an upgrade than an installation, but I don't really mind losing it in the process : I've got a backup, and anyway, correct me if I'm wrong, but it is not much information (personnal settings, identities, and such, not a real issue for my users). roundcube login on a shared server

Hi everybody, I'm running roundcube on a shared webserver of a hosting service which brings a question to my mind concerning security: The hosting provider gives login credentials to its customers which are all hosted at the same domain (e.g. customer12(a)provider.com). As roundcube allows direct login to IMAP accounts I am afraid that other customers are able to login to "my" roundcube installation with their email-adress e.g. customer256(a)provider.com. Is it possible to protect a roundcube installation so that only specified logins are enabled? So I want to be able to login with my account customer12(a)provider.com but want to prevent other customers of the same domain @provider.com to use roundcube. I just recently setup roundcube and now playing with it. I have two folders Sent and Sent Items. But RC treat Sent Items also as Sent. So in RC, there is 2 Sent folder. Trouble installing 0.3.1-6

Hi folks I would appreciate some ideas of where to look to try and solve my problem. I am setting up a new server (have RoundCube installed on my old server and has been working perfectly for over 2 years). I have run the install on Debian Squeeze using aptitude, including 'roundcube', 'roundcube-core' and 'roundcube-mysql'. The database has been created and contains 6 tables. I have Apache2 and MySQL5 running and they seem to be working fine. In my browser I type http://server-url/roundcube and the login page appears. Switched from Squirrelmail and Thunderbird -> Wish LIst for RCM

People, Firstly, thanks to the developers for a really nice product! I have made the switch from Squirrelmail to RoundCubeMail for (remote) webmail - which is a nice improvement. I have also bitten the bullet and also switched from Thunderbird (for local mail) as well even though there are a few features that I am missing because I think the advantages of having a single mail client again (and one that has a SQL DB for it's data) outweighs the disadvantages. I have been using RCM heavily for some days now and am quite impressed but here are the features I am missing from TB (I know some are already recognised as wish list items but I thought I would repeat them to add weight to their status). In the order I discovered them: - a facility for inserting a text file into the body text - a header lines editor - show ALL of the items in the mail items pane ( increase max from 200 -> 999?) - facility to open (as opposed to save) PDFs - facility to list only folders with unread mails - facility to automatically add new addressees to Address Book from outgoing mails - keyboard shortcuts - RSS feeds (this seems to have been discussed on the fora a bit but does not seem to be properly available?) And also a question: Can plugins be written in Ruby? (I supposed I should read the plugin stuff . .) (and as well tmp/ ) > Andreas Hi thanks for the hint with owner. I just had group set to the group the webserver is running under. After I set the webserver user as owner as well I got a bunch of PHP-Notices in the file. But nothing that looks like a real error. If I set the error_reporting back to E_ERROR then I get nothing in the errors file. I checked my dovecots logs as well, not a trace of a connection try of RC. Firewalls on both machines are not running. I tried the local LAN IP of my mailserver as default_host as well as the hostname, did not make any difference. I have no clue where this request is "blocked" but I guess that it must be somewhere within RC as I'm pretty sure the requests never reach my mailserver which is in the same subnet than the webserver. At least I cannot find anything in the mailserver logs. I tried ssl connections on port 993 as well as normal requests on port 143. Nothing works. Anymore ideas where to look further? Hi I have a strange problem with the latest version of RC-mail. When trying to login I always get a "no connection error" for the given default_host. I set the logging values all to true, but there is not one line in ./logs/errors But for every login attempt I get lines in ./logs/sql strange thing is that a testscript with fsockopen() on port 143 returns a valid pointer. As well telnet mymailserver 143 returns the greeting string from my dovecot server. All other clients than RC-mail in the same subnet can easy connect to the dovecot server.
