We had similar issues with users, who were using IE with auto-detect compatibility mode, which caused that GET requests used different User-Agent strings, which caused aborted sessions.
If I remember right, we had to add something in the HEAD section of our template to avoid the issue.
Similar issue was reported in the trac of RC, however it should be fixed now… (search for User-Agent strings in trac)

Are you using some proxy? If so, I'd check without it, if possible.
