Richard,
I apologize, I wasn't aware this software used IMAP as it's polling method. I just installed this on my FreeBSD box at home and it works like a champ! With minimal configuration you could set this up yourself on your home PC (assuming you have a PC you can configure as a web server with PHP support - see
http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-windows.html for easy installation on Windows). Once you have a functional web server you can follow these easy instructions on
http://www.paulstamatiou.com/2005/10/29/how-to-setup-roundcube-webmail-on-your-server/. If you've never toyed with any web/mail software it can be daunting, so just reply with any trouble you (may) have and I'll see if I can help you out.

Roundmail can be used to check mail against any IMAP mail server that you want, and as many as you want (I have 4 servers in my config). Most users use it to check just one (ie localhost).
You could check to see if Yahoo supports IMAP. To my knowledge, they only support POP3, but I could be wrong. If they did support IMAP, you would just input the server name in your config. Be warned, unless you block new user registration, than anyone who has a Yahoo POP account could start using your server to check their mail!
