Uh, that's done through smtp, on the server level -- so that's up to what your server has installed for it I'd imagine. In our case, we're using Clam on our OS X server. If you choose php option, you're outputting straight through the browser, and bypassing any of that. If you're looking for in bound anti-virus, again, it has to be done via server level, just as squirrelmail and horde do and any other web based application.

If course, if you have on installed on your desktop, you can avoid downloading one -- but I'm on a mac and linux, so no problems with viruses on my end:)
