None of the files in /bin/ are executable on my Gentoo system. Should I file a Gentoo bug for that?
Should they be installed executable? I used update.sh recently and had to make it executable first.
That is a standard security measure in many packages such as this, don't have anything executable unless it is necessary. If you need to run those scripts, make them executable. Others like myself don't use them at all and prefer that they not be executable by default.
Understood, thank you Arne.
