However, I seem to be having the same problem.  With error showing turned on, I get the following whenever I try to open a particular piece of mail (headers display fine):

<b>Warning</b>:  fread() [<a href='function.fread'>function.fread</a>]: Length parameter must be greater than 0. in <b>/usr/local/apache2/htdocs/rcmail/program/steps/mail/func.inc</b> on line <b>1220</b><br />

For reference, I'm running PHP version 5.0.4, MySQL 4.1.11 64-bit for Solaris and apache 2.2.0, all under Solaris 10 for SPARC.
