Im an admin myself. But i work mainly with nontechies. Maybe on the about page of roundcube a notification that roundcube only interacts with emails and not actually HAVE them could help better ?
My first email was just a thought about the previous question regarding people not getting it.
So, people usually think that webmail = email. Thats confusing to them.
Maybe something stating that WEBMAIL is only q interface and not the actual EMAIL will help them. Also, a configuration of admin email might help and providing it in the about page could help people that are confused. Also, i think this should be mandatory.
Wasting developers' time is not nice..;)
Just my 2 cents.

Maybe it should be specified better on the website ?
We already have a box on our support page: http://roundcube.net/support But we're open for suggestions how to make this more clear for non-tech-savvy people.

How to get old emails back on this account as missing
why do people not realize that roundcue is a ordinaly WEBMAIL which does not mroe and not less than act as IMAP-client like any other mailprigram does?
if you are missing mails for whatever reasons contact your serveradmin and hope he has a backup and enough time to try restore for you
