So Charles tested the login off-list on my test install. Worked fine. Without telling the public IP of Charles, his IP is indeed blacklisted on:
*l2.apews.org **zen.spamhaus.org **abuse.rfc-ignorant.org*

It worked with this setup. Does this mean my server is blacklisted!?

Hi Charles
Here the test Roundcube install - pointing to gmail imap server :
https://roundcubetest.area-1.ch/
In my test I only used the username without @gmail.com as login.

Let's try the first option to start off with.
If it works there, then I'll contact Hostgator and see what the problem is. They usually have great service.

Haha this is really becoming interesting. Is your IP blacklisted or something? If you want I will tell you the URL to my Roundcube Test Installation (off-list) and you can try the login there?
What could be the problem here? It's either the server somehow blocking it, or something's wrong with the config. I installed a fresh copy and still, no go. I could try creating a new gmail account for this, maybe multiple IMAP logins are not allowed?
Nope, can't be it. On my test I was at the same time logged in on Gmail UI, Roundcube to Gmail, Android... no problems.

I got it, thanks.
Still not connecting, and I'm on a different network:
Connecting to ssl://imap.gmail.com... IMAP connect: NOT OK(Login failed for **** from ****. Could not connect to ssl://imap.gmail.com:993: Connection timed out)
Strange. What PHP Version are you using?
Also, your file was named config.inc.php, but it said to use main.inc.php.
Sorry, my bad. Copied the cat output locally and saved it mistakenly as config.inc.php. Of course the real file name should be main.inc.php.
Also also, is it better to use PHPMail() as the SMTP server?
It's up to you. I've been using phpmail() and I haven't had any problems. But my Roundcube installations are running on localhost IMAP servers, so for external mail servers (like in your case gmail) SMTP server should be used.

something I overlooked in the setup.
Just sent you my config file in a private mail (off-list). Basically it is a standard config.inc.php, for the gmail server I only modified these settings:
$rcmail_config['default_host'] = 'ssl://imap.gmail.com';
$rcmail_config['default_port'] = 993;
PHP Version is 5.2.17 by the way. _______________________________________________ Roundcube Users mailing list users@lists.roundcube.net http://lists.roundcube.net/mailman/listinfo/users

if you are having timeouts while connect it is mostly not the client software
so his main work should now be find out what is ging wrong on his machine, stop the outgoing spam and check the MTA configuration - blacklisting on 3 RBLs sounds like some sort of open relay which must not happen and can easily be prevented in the initial setup with some testing
maybe there are more than 3 lists look with this tool: http://www.mxtoolbox.com/

Agree. Charles, try to find the reason for the blacklisting, solve the issues, de-list and test again.

Yes, I used http://www.blacklistalert.org/, makes more or less the same.

Contacted Hostgator...
They basically said it wasn't the server that was blacklisted, but Gmail's IMAP server? And I changed my MX records to my own domain so that there wouldn't be a possible conflict while logging in... but so far I still can't login from my computer. I wish I could get a better log of what's happening, instead of just "Connection time out".

Hi Obviously the guys from hostgator dont have a clue. The gmail servers cant be blocked... imagine that! Millions of users would be affected!!
They dont realize that its their (hostgator) job to see that their ip ranges arent blocked. Im a hoster myself and thats daily business.
Did u try set up a lamp server on your home machine? Eg in a virtual machine? You can then set up roundcube and compare. On May 8, 2012 1:34 AM, "Charles Carver" charlescarver@mac.com wrote:

Hello all,
I don't know exactly if it is an postfix or roundcube's issue. My doubt is the following one.
Everytime a message is sent to the user mailbox an individual file containing the message is created, the filename is something like this:
1336384819.Vfe04I26904c5M818068.servername:2,
I have figured out that, according to some situations, the filename could be changed, ex:
1336384819.Vfe04I26904c5M818068.servername:2,S --- message has been seen ("S" at the end) 1336384819.Vfe04I26904c5M818068.servername:2,R --- message has been replyed ("R" at the end) 1336384819.Vfe04I26904c5M818068.servername:2,SR --- message has been seen and replyed
Well, now i found another termination, a "T" as follows:
1336384819.Vfe04I26904c5M818068.servername:2,RST or 1336384819.Vfe04I26904c5M818068.servername:2,ST
Messages with a "T" are not exbihited by roundcube and we are having some problems due to it.
Does anyone knows what the "T" at the end of the message means?
Thanks in advance.

"Flag "T" (trashed): the user has moved this message to the trash; the trash will be emptied by a later user action."
