I did not, and nor do I think has the person that made the changes. As I said everything looks perfectly acceptable.

PHP config has not been touched. DirectoryIndex was the first thing I checked and this appears to be fine.

why do you make "extensive changes" without verify step by step that the basic operations are working?

Put a hold on the attitude, its is neither wanted nor in any way helpful.
