i just gave roundcube another shot on my old P3-450 server and am amazed.;) Last time i checked it wouldn't show any other folders than Inbox (running cyrus with unixhierachy). But now that works like a charm. And it performs very well on that poor loaded machine, might be even better than ilohamail. Thx for that.

After some testing, i would find it quite comfortable to have the "new message"-button also present when actually viewing a message. Or even better, having an completely editable menu-bar?
