Config file format

First and for most, thank you for saving me from SquirrelMail, really, thank you. Second its really hard to look up what has been discused on the list to see what has been said and what hasn't, so forgive me if I say anything redundant, besides suggestions should be seconded, and thirded ect. Anyways. So my main point, the config file shouldn't be in php format, its really awkward to work with. I know it was probably easier to do out of the gate, but at some point it should be broken up in normal config style. Like: db_host = localhost db_Name = roundcubedatabse db_Password = p@ssword Instead of the mysql syntax in a php array. DateField too narrow

Well, due to the different ways of displaying this and last weeks mails this rarely happens, but for old unread or marked [bold] mails the date field is about 2 or 3px to narrow to display the whole '30.12.2006 21:40' Maybe it got fixed in a newer SVN version already, in this case ignore my mail :P

Hiding the preview pane

Hi, I think what roundcube needs badly is a way to quickly and temporarily hide the preview pane. I often find spam messages in my Inbox that SA has not caught (different story). When I click to drag them into the Spam folder, they are loaded in the preview pane, which bothers me. There should be a button to quickly hide the preview pane so I can drag mail without it being loaded. I'm gonna make a ticket for this, too. Cheers, ~Mik

Spam suggestions?

I have been using SpamAssassin, but I have had problems where incoming spam causes the server to become unresponsive for long periods of time. This is obviously unacceptable. I am pretty sure the biggest part of the problem is that fact that is running with Perl. I have had problems with Perl before when I wrote CGI applications where it can lock up a server if you are handling a lot of data. I specifically have it set to only handle messages under a certain size, but I still have problems. I host other things on the same server, like my DNS and Web servers so I cannot allow the spam filter to kill the performance of all applications. Is there something better that I could do? I am seriously considering having all of my mail aliased to my Gmail account and not allow incoming mail to be stored on this server. Hi Phil, Thanks for your reply. Roundcube did something funny with it though. Now that I've hit reply I can see what your wrote. I'll check the archive later to see if I missed anything. Sorry, I meant to put more information in and forgot. I'm running a default install of Fedora Core 5 with Apache2, PHP5, MySQL, Dovecot and sendmail. I'm also only using the beta version of Roundcube. As to the ruleset, I'm using those from gotroot which can be found here. http://www.gotroot.com/mod_security+rules but not all. I have added the following to the base rules in mod_security.conf. Using them all can load up your server. The error logs seem to relate to useragents. You could try just that file if the rest are too hard on your server. Include /etc/httpd/modsec/apache2-rules.conf Include /etc/httpd/modsec/rules.conf Include /etc/httpd/modsec/rootkits.conf Include /etc/httpd/modsec/useragents.conf Include /etc/httpd/modsec/recons.conf Include /etc/httpd/modsec/badips.conf # Include /etc/httpd/modsec/blacklist.conf Include /etc/httpd/modsec/blacklist2.conf Include /etc/httpd/modsec/jitp.conf # Include /etc/httpd/modsec/proxy.conf I should highlight I've only seen it the once, you might end up waiting a long time to see it happen if at all. Googlespell and mod_security?

Hi, I am wondering if anyone uses Roundcube with mod_security on Apache? I got some 406's from logwatch this morning. Requests with error response codes 406 Not Acceptable snip< /?_task=mail&_action=spell〈=en: 3 Time(s) The previous day while writing some emails I ran the spell checker to get an error message indicating a problem with the server. The relating error logs point to IP's in South East Asia. Mod_security seems to be doing its job but I wondering if anyone with more experience that myself has noticed this as well? And if it's a problem? Could just be a problem with the Google servers? All seems fine today. Spell check runs fine. Regards, Robert.

Spam harvesting concerns

I just saw that everyone who posts to the mail list has there email pasted on the net for spam bots. This is how a couple of my email addresses got ruined by spammers. There needs to a a regex replace filter or something for emails to get emails in name at domain dot com format or something, otherwise everyone posting to the list is going to see spam rates OCTUPLE! i.e. http://lists.roundcube.net/mail-archive/roundcube.dev/2006/12/seq/ Michael Phillips

SVN 439/440; settings dialog

Hi, SVN 440 introduced a bug that prevents me from clicking the 'Save' button on the settings page. 3 new feature ideas.

I would like to add some functionality to roundcube. 1. The ability to check box to automatically sign in next time or to just save the login. The information would be stored in a cookie that expired in like 30 years, if people on the development team think its ok to store the password it would be done in a hash obviously but everyone's imap/pop client would have to support the hash then. 2. For visually impaired people, have a selector for font size that simply changes the css or a high contrast theme. I think it would also be neat to use flite (http://www.speech.cs.cmu.edu/flite/doc/index.html) for text to speech. There would be a link that could be enabled which when clicked would let them save the message as a wav file, then play it back in audio form. I already do this for captchas on my websites. I'm sure most visually impaired people already have software on their computer do this, but they are probably all windows people. this could allow visually impaired people in linux or other less supported OSs to get an audio version of their email. Some web applications sport a logo indicating compliance with http://www.section508.gov/. 3. GnUPG support, I would like to add the ability sign or encrypt messages. A user could paste their private key into a form that then saved it on the server in sql. There is probably a huge security issue with saving private keys on a server. I don't know of a php API, I would most likely use exec(); Please email me any comments, questions or concerns. Michael Phillips
