CVS, SVN, Wiki, Trac

Hi everybody I followed the conversation about the SF CVS problem and noticed all the suggestions for switching to SVN, to another server or even to move away from SourceForge. Just to make clear, I'm aware of the current CVS problems and I'm interested in better solution as well as you all are. The reason why I chose SF was the availability of tools without having to configure them by myself. This is something I still don't want to do and what I don't have time for. In October 2005 we discussed about setting up a Trac system which would combine a wiki for documentation, a bug tracker and a SVN server together in one box. We all agreed that this would be a very nice tool for further development. Then somebody offered to install Trac on his server (I don't have a server with Python available) and started setting up the service. Due lack of time, this was not finished and somebody else offered to take care of that and set up a new Trac installation. This was in December 2005. The result of that can be seen at http://trac.roundcube.net/. He imported a snapshot from the CVS and all SF tracker data and I added some styling to the new platform. We discussed some details about user management and some configuration changes and the Trac installation got finished for about 90%. February 26 was the last time I heard from Steeve and asked him for a target date when we can move data from SF to our new platform. Unfortunately an answer is still missing... As you can see, serious attempts were made to move away from SF but the main problem of open source projects is the quick loss of interest and the missing reliability of some project members. I can understand that since I have very little time for the project myself. After almost half a year, I call again for somebody who is willing to install and to maintain a Trac system, which is still a very good solution for our project, I guess. I can provide DNS entries, styles for the Trac site and some adapted Python scripts for importing data from SF. In the mean time, I published another CVs snapshot and we could move to the SF SVN server until we (hopefully) have our Trac platform ready. Comments are welcome... Thomas

I guess that you don't subscribe to the belief of gracious degradation then. To me javascript, while being capable of performing wonderful usability enhancing functions, should never be a requirement. Web pages and applications should be able to function perfectly well with JS disabled; JS can certainly be used to make things easier and flashier, but not at the cost of accessibility. I thoroughly recommend reading A List Apart http://www.alistapart.com; they have many many articles about accessibility, none of which advocates reducing your web site / application to an archaic state all in the name of accessibility. I realise that the majority of the functions within the application rely on javascript and I am certainly not trying to say it should all be rewritten, but I think that you should at least provide the ability to READ e-mails for those people using browsers without javascript support. How can something as innocuous as a simple hyperlink make a page ugly? If it's the underlines that bother you, CSS has a remarkable ability that can come to the rescue here... I will have a play with this this weekend and I will try and see how the application functions with added hyperlinks. Send bug?

Hey guys, I've noticed that sometimes mail isn't being sent, even though the message is coming back as it being successful. I'm in the habit now of checking my Sent mail folder and /var/maillog to see if it actually went out. If it didn't, re-sending it has always worked so far. So I'm perplexed as to what's going on. I haven't dug into the source and haven't really done any diag yet. Thought I'd email you guys first and see if it's a known issue or if others have reported it. I'm running the latest dev tree (as of a few days ago) on FreeBSD 6.0 with courier-imapd and postfix. If you guys would like more info, let me know. Unimplemented features?

First of all, when I hit delete nothing happens (RoundCube CVS checked out May 2; Firefox 1.5.0.3 on Windows). Is this not implemented or is it not supported in all browsers yet? Second question regards the drag-and-drop. It would be nice to have a better indication of which folder you're dropping mail in, e.g. by giving that folder a nice background color. And while composing this mailing I stumbled on to something else: it is not possible to save a message when composing. E-mail subject -> hyperlinks

Hi all, Something I have noticed and I'm not sure whether this has been attempted before and hence there's a good reason for it not being implemented, but can we make the subjects of e-mails become hyperlinks so that you can just click on them to view the mail? I have tried using RCW on my mobile phone and I can't actually read e-mails without a hyperlink to click. For DDA purposes, it's also a must from my point of view as I couldn't figure out a way of opening a mail with keyboard only (apologies for not RTFM!!); it's just more natural and easy if they're hyperlinks. In addition to this, e-mails with blank subjects would need to display <No Subject> or else there would be nothing to click on! (Something I would actually like to be done anyway; blank subjects stick out like a sore thumb and, due to the off-handedness with which those e-mails are usually written, don't deserve quite that much attention!) -- Richard Green

Round cube modifications

Hello, I'm new to the mailing list. I have noticed a few missing features in Round cube that I would like to implement myself. It doesn't have a way to move all mail in the inbox to the trash (you have to do it one page at a time). The same applies to the trash folder. There is no way to empty it in one step. Hi, I have tried the demo and I'm very impressive by the quality of the webmail :o) As a developer, I 'm wondering how you have done the "loading zone" in the top of the page (the same zone appears to confirm the adding of a contact from an email) I would like to add the same feature to one of my ajax application Thank you, Hasan OZDIL, Brussel Could you answer to my email (hasan dot ozdil at gmail dot com) because I haven't subscribed to the mailing list

Well, there hasn't been a discussion about that so far. I like it because it just does what I had in mind. Probably we can replace the server side spellchecking with aspell or something similar one day but the client script is very nice. An other thoughts? Just checked in a couple more changes to keyboard navigation (my specialty). You can now change the focus of the message in the message list by holding down control when using arrow key navigation. It looks great in Firefox, but not so great in IE. If there are any CSS wizards out there that want to take a look at this, feel free. The new class used is in mail.css (#messagelist tr.focused td). Also there were two bugs that I fixed. The first was that after you deleted (or moved) a message if you used the arrow keys to navigate you would still "select" the invisible message. That invisible message is now properly skipped. The second is that upon moving a message the next message was not selected. It now is.. unless it was the last message in the list. I'll address that ASAP. -Charles
