The problem is after the login I see in the left side the maildirectories but no messages on in the messages overview frame, and I get the error messages 'Serverfehler!'.
When I click on any of the maildirectory I don't get the mails on the right hand messages overview frame only again the error message (popup) 'Serverfehler!'.
I haven't seen any error in the error log, which looks from rc.
The working setup is currently on php 5.4.5, I try now to test the new server with this old version, maybe that some changes in PHP have impact to this error.

Hi,
looks to me a that this bug could be the problem.
https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=63266
I use libc-client2007e on Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS (64).
does anybody have the same setup and have seen the same error?
Best regards Aleks

What's in the log files, etc..? You still didn't share an error message.
Thanks.
That's the problem I have no error message in the log just the popup and message in the last line 'Serverfehler!'.

"Server Error!" error happens often when server response to ajax request is malformed (e.g. contains some extra characters). So, you need to use some browser development tools to check what exactly is sent in response. Also make sure debug_level=1.
That's weird — nothing in the RoundCube logs or PHP logs?
Maybe open the console (in Chrome: Command+Alt+J) and see what the ajax request says.

After recompiling php many times the setup works now.
I have also switched to local imap server.
For me the problem is solved, thanks to all for support and patient.

That's good to know.
Just btw — for those who want to test PHP 5.4.x. I run my dev copy on localhost like this:
git clone … ./roundcubemail cd roundcubemail/ /usr/local/Cellar/php54/5.4.6/bin/php -S 0.0.0.0:8181 -t .
The 0.0.0.0 makes it listen on all interfaces, port 8181 — -t is the document root ("." = the current directory).
Then in the browser: http://0.0.0.0:8181/
My PHP 5.4 is installed through homebrew.
