I like the new design-- and was thinking, is it time to do a vertical layout?
It seems like now would be a good time to do it. Shouldn't this be a core feature? So many people have wide screens now. What do you guys think! Thanks, Scott

I suppose anyone could do this by making a vertical layout skin. Thats what skinning is for right?

yes, but should be built in now? -- I even think there are some skins out there already, but they are never that good & seem to break

I see one problem for "vertical" layout - messages list. In "vertical" layout we have much smaller width for the list, so it must be redesigned to fit with small width. We cannot place all message informations in one row as now, also threaded view would be problematic. So, using only skin is not possible to do this right.
how about a stacked sender/subject, similar to outlook 2007
