Missed a bit the latest RC developments, due to other tasks that I had to follow during the last wekks/months. But just now I realize that we finally have a Text/HTML toggle at the very right of the display of the subject header line. Just great, thanks to all who have contributed to this!
Of course I tested it instantly, and found the following:
particular message, am I seeing this correct...? And if so, how and where is this (safely) being stored? I'm wondering if RC shouldn't first and always display the part according to the setting "Display HTML" under "Displaying Messages" after selecting back and forth between messages (would look more consistent to me)?
icon at the right of the subject header).
message" below the header. Viewing the HTML part, opposed to this there is (still) no correspondent link "Text message" below the header. Anyway, the still existing link "HTML message" is sort of redundant to the toggle at the right of the subject header. This should be more consistent (either showing an additional link below the header always or never, no matter which part is being viewed).
I would prefer a link below the header ONLY anyway (as the icon at the right of the subject header is hard to detect and the text "HTML message" or "Text message" is more user-friendly, better visible and better understandable than those - pretty small - icons). Alternatively, both toggles should exist. The least solution from my point of view would be to have JUST these icons.
mentioned and still existing link "HTML message" below the header: The HTML part is being displayed, but the display of the header disappears entirely (see screenshot comparison attached).
is currently being viewed. Is this correct and intentional? If so: Great!

It is stored in session per-every message separately. So, when a message is displayed, last setting for this message is used, if the switch on that particular message wasn't used yet, default setting will be used.

I just keeped the old behaviour of converting HTML part to the attachment when displaying a message in text mode. I'm not sure we should change that. You can create a ticket, we'll think about this. Also, in my opinion icons are better, than links on attachments list.
- There is a problem when I'm viewing the Text part and click on the above
mentioned and still existing link "HTML message" below the header: The HTML part is being displayed, but the display of the header disappears entirely (see screenshot comparison attached).
I'm unable to reproduce (even with IE8). That link should open a new window/tab with HTML part (attachment) preview. There's a javascript error in this new page, but that's another issue.
- At a first quick test, it seems that a reply does quote the part which
is currently being viewed. Is this correct and intentional? If so: Great!
Yes. It's intentional.

I just keeped the old behaviour of converting HTML part to the attachment when displaying a message in text mode.
This "old" behaviour is new to me. In the past, simply the HTML part was shown instead of the text part (rather than showing the HTML part in a separate window as an attachment).
Probably this behaviour has been changed along with the invention of the toggle? I'm just not sure why I should want to see the HTML part in a separate attachment window.

Well, I have nothing against icons if they are meaningful. Comparing the link against the icon in this particular case, the link looks more meaningful to me.

I just realized that it apparently depends on the message being viewed. I couldn't figure out what exactly causes the behaviour I described, but I could send you a particular message with which you will be able to reproduce it. I just don't want to post it to the list. Please advise.
The same behaviour occurs BTW if the message has been opened in a new window.
But I have other messages which are behaving the way you described.

Maybe, but:

So, this most likely is not related to this new feature. You can send the message to me.

Hmm, not sure what you mean. But anyway, my memory served me wrong apparently: I just tested the "HTML message" link with 0.8.4, and indeed the HTML part is shown in a separate window in attachment style upon clicking it.
The link is of course only there if the text part of the message is being displayed, but what should be wrong with that...?

Will do. With 0.8.4, the "HTML message" link works as it should with this particular message, so at least there must have been a change somewehere. (Days ago the attachment links didn't work at all anymore in 0.9-git, probably this is a place to look at.)

Another IE(8?) bug, fixed in git.

Hmm, what was the bug? Should there be a link "Text message" if the HTML part is being viewed (which would be quite logical)? Or should the link "HTML message" also be there if the HTML part is being viewed?

None of them. I'm not sure about these. I fixed the issue with wrong message display after clicking HTML message link (on attachments list).
