In the UPGRADING document, it doesn't say anything about upgrading the
schema if coming from 0.1-rc2. Did I miss something when I did my
upgrade to 0.1-stable?

@Joel Which issues do you have? Or none at all? :-)
Maybe earlier then, I remember there were "changes" especially in the addressbook schema in an earlier release
I am not sure how to trace this. Usually all errors are logged to logs/error. Make sure those are writable by the webserver and that logging is enabled in config/main.inc.php. I am not sure how to trace this issue otherwise. I am running trunk myself and adding contacts works.
For the other issues, we need a test message.

Can you tell me where files I should be looking at to figure out why I can't get attachments to upload ?

It has to be specific to the .1 stable version.
I have rc2 running on the same server, and able to attach files using the same version of php and the same config file. So it is not PHP or permssions on the temp directory...I am guessing it is a path issue...
What happens is this...I click "upload" and no file is uploaded..no error..the browser window remains open with the path to the file I wanted to upload and the option to close or upload again..

Well, in 0.1-stable I added support for fileinfo (1), when it's installed. It could be the path to the mime.magic file that fails, hmm... When fileinfo is not installed, it uses the same-old, same-old (at least it should :-)). Wonder if this is the problem.

The only PHP extensions I currently have enabled are :
