Hello all Roundcube Developers (and those subscribed to this list).
This is Brett Patterson (the Content Manager) and I have a fairly straight-forward request / message.
The forum is now online, and thriving. You can visit it here: http://www.roundcubeforum.net It started from a discussion in the users list, and has now grown to over 150 members as of yesterday (April 1). I urge you all to check it out, and ask that you all register on the forums. There are sections for bug-reports and issues. We could really use some developer intervention so it doesn't seem like our forum is falling upon deaf ears.
If and when you join the forum, please PM or email me immediately. I have a special user-group for you developers. In the PM or email please give me your name, your name as listed on the project page for developers. There's only 15, minus myself and Thomas, so 13. I hope I can get everyone on the forums. You don't have to frequent them every day, just check in and see if anything new has come up.
You can even subscribe to a category (Like "CVS Issues & Bugs") and when a new topic is made, you'll be notified via email.
Once again, please join the forums if you have not already. And please contact me so I can add you to the developers group! :)
Have a great week, and Roundcube is coming along very nicely!!
~Brett Patterson Roundcube Forum Admin www.roundcubeforum.net
Can someone else vouch for the authenticity of this? I'm a personal fan of the mailling list and don't see what moving to a forum adds to the roundcube project.
Cheers, Gavin

we're not moving, I think he's just "spamming" for users who prefer a forum. I doubt that the mailnglist will disappear.
Auke
This is all correct. We had plenty of requests for a forum because many users don't want to subscribe to mailing lists to get support. That's why Brett offered to set up a phpBB for RoundCube. Of course the mailing lists won't disappear.

Right, most of the time Forums simply compliment the mailing lists, with most things happening in the mailing lists, that bleed over to the forums. Most folks that aren't quite as technical (or not as crazy to keep up with every change to the code!) will just use the forums...this way HOWtos, bugs, etc found in the mailing lists can help populate the fourms with useful info, which is where a newer user will probably look for help in the beginning. Go and try to search a mailing list, and then try to search the forum - forums always feel more 'permanant' where details can live on after being forged on the mailing lists.
On a side note, that's not phpBB - and it's one of the nicest Forums I've seen in some time! It's integration into TRAC is really cool as bugs will be much easier to...(have to say it)...trac(k)!

Additionally, here's a perfect example of the mailling list and forum cross-polinating!

My apologies. As I did not recognise the poster nor the URL I assumed that this was some sort of phising/spam attempt that had gotten to the control list. I doubt I'll use the forum myself as I much prefer to be able to search the local archive I have in my email but I'm sure others will find it useful.

Right, it's SMF, but where did you see TRAC integration? I see nothing mentioned on the simplemachines website...

Hmfr...looking at the 'Home', 'Help', 'Search', 'Profile' buttons I thought it was Trac based, but looking at the src it looks like it's not! Sorry for the confusion, thanks for calling it out.

Anyway, Thomas mentioned he was gonna build a SVN server for RC with trac on it. That was about a week or two ago.

Yeah Phil, I just looked at the footer info :) But who knows you may be right, as it could be TRAC inspired..

Well, the navigation seems to be copied from Trac.
Although there is ne Trac integration, there is a Trac for RoundCube:
http://trac.roundcube.net
But seems a bit... dead?
Hope it will be used some day...
