I just installed version 0.30RC1. So far so good. I created a new install with a brand new config file instead of upgrading. But, when I delete a message which is open, it now opens up the next message. My other setup returns me to the message list. Is there a setting I am missing or is this the new way to handle delete when a message window is open?
Thanks, Jeff _______________________________________________ List info: http://lists.roundcube.net/users/

Yes, this is a new way.
Hello,
I have to get into this discussion now since obviously a very interesting way to show mails have been changed.
Alec, is there a way to change a setting that users return to the message list after deleting an opened mail? I really loved the fact that Roundcube went back to the message overview and not to the next e-mail. In fact I hate when mailsystems do that (see hotmail), you automatically open another e-mail you maybe didnt want to read (yet) and it will be already shown as read in your inbox. Plus, talking about spam, if the next message is a spam-mail you're going to open that by accident which might have a tracking code in the html code (so the spammer knows the user opened the mail).
I totally agree with Jeff, the old way was better.
Please let me know if I misunderstood the change completely.
Claudio

No, currently there's no such option.
Now behaviour is the same as with preview pane. If you delete a message from the list, next message is displayed in preview pane. So, it's just an unification, but I agree that we should provide an option to change this behaviour globally (when working with preview pane or without it).
Yes, I have set the preview panes off - but I've let it an open choice for users. I know some of them are using it, some are not. But it would be definitely good to have at least a switch in the config file to control the behaviour when deleting an opened mail (either back to message list or show ext message) in the next release 0.3-stable.

Hi,
just wanted to say that I agree with Claudio and Jeff. I use the preview pane and the fact that it opens the next message when you delete one may be the only thing "annoying" me with roundcube.
+1 for the option to change that behaviour

Yes, I agree. I hate going to the next mail all the time. It slows things down especially (or maybe ineveitably) when all I do is click "close" for all the reasons Claudio mentions anyway.
Keep up the good work though ! I think Roundcube is a great project going somewhere better and better.

Heh... hopefully there will be separate options for the preview pane and if messages opened in separate windows?
I *want* to display the next message when in the preview pane, but *not* if the message is open in a separate window.

In my opinion, it's better to have a one option. The behaviour should be consistent and I don't like to create too many options.

In relation to this option is there a possibility to have an option so that when you'r previewing a message in the preview pane the message is not marked as read.
