definition of messageID?

I'm trying to track down what this does: $messageID = $headers["message-id"]; if ($messageID) $messageID = substr(substr($messageID, 1), 0, strlen($messageID)-2); else $messageID = "mid:".$id; $result[$id]->messageID = $messageID; } I see $messageID in a lot of places, while I see messageID(without a variable $ identifier) in other places. What is "messageID" for? Found in: /public_html/webmail/program/lib/imap.inc /public_html/webmail/program/steps/addressbook/func.inc $message_id = $headers->messageID; /public_html/webmail/program/steps/mail/compose.inc $_SESSION['compose']['reply_msgid'] = $REPLY_MESSAGE['headers']->messageID; /public_html/webmail/program/steps/mail/func.inc $message_id = $headers->messageID;

Problems: I had to comment lines 5 & 6 in the mysql.update.sql file the columns were already there. It didn't help the problem with outlook not handling the headers correctly. Does anyone have any suggestions for that? Rob

feature idea/request

Seems that as time goes by, every time we update its gonna mean a) we drop all existing contacts and preferences and start over from scratch, or b) we have do to careful manual editing and such to upgrade. Idea: Have an update script that you run before you update. It will store all your users personal info in a separate file. Update your installation, then run the update script again and it restores those preferences, appropriately modified to fit any changes. I might work on this once I've finished my automated install script.

Another interesting problem with 1203 snapshot

I only have 4 old messages in my inbox, (i have to keep it clean i'm anal about that) but today when i logged in it said I have 58 messages and wouldn't show me my 4 messages until i clicked next to see the next page. New emails come in properly on the 11st page but there are like 54 phantom emails in between new and old. Rob

still getting 406 error

Ok, I'm still getting this error. This is happening when I forward a message. Its only happening on particular messages though. Seems to be a problem with how RC is handling the headers. Cannot see some message text (Anybody?)

Anybody got any clue on this one? I would love to scrap Squirrelmail if I could figure out how to get around this... ------ Hello - I saw another post about this problem sent some time back, but it was never answered. Basically, it seems as though some, not sure if all, reply messages sent from an Outlook 2003 client do not show up. If I had emailed the user (via Outlook 2003) and then they responded (via Outlook 2003), the latest text from the does not show up. However, I can see the reply text divider, and the previous message text under the divider. I just can't see the latest response. I just started clicking around the message, causing blue highlight to popup everywhere, and it seems like the message is under there somewhere. Now at the top of the message I see the following as well: #messagebody st1\:*{behavior:url(#default#ieooui) } It appears this may be an issue with the Outlook/HTML/The divider? Any way to get around this? Other than that it works great with other messages. BTW, I just installed the latest CVS this morning hoping this would solve it, but it didn't. Thanks, Max

Empty Trash

This is a good point.. I can delete messages one by one.. but no global "empty trash" .. (but I may be a bit blind..) I have the exact same problem! In my INBOX (with >26000 messages) nothing happens if I try to open (double click) any of the messages, I get bumped back to the login screen after a while, just as you described. (Marking a message and clicking Reply or Forward works fine!) Other than that the performance is much better now.
