roundcube sending mail, but not updating UI
by SK 07 Jul '17

Hello, I am having a strange problem with roundcube, and google search could not yield anything useful. Roundcube system: OS : FreeBSD 11.0-STABLE #1 r312349M RC: roundcube-1.2.5,1 Email server (different from roundcube) OS: FreeBSD 11.0-STABLE #0 r309730 Exim: exim-4.87 I am using IMAP authentication from roundcube to get username and password, so the configuration block in RC looks like $config['smtp_server'] = 'tls://my.mailserver.com'; $config['smtp_port'] = 587; $config['smtp_user'] = '%u'; $config['smtp_pass'] = '%p'; ====== Now, the mail server is working as expected, I have users using Thunderbird and various other android devices all exchanging email quite happily. From the roundcube, the authentication works, I can see my emails, I can click on reply or create new email. Problem: As I try to send email (either a new one or reply to some existing), the UI has the pop-up at the bottom right telling me that it is sending email. And it actually does, as is evident from the sendmail.log [07-Jul-2017 12:10:35 +0100]: <7d7jebmi> User loggedInUser@domain [1.2.3.4]; Message for someotheruser(a)gmail.com; 250: OK id=1dTR9B-000K5e-EQ However, the UI continues with the "Sending message. . ." for a while longer and then responds An error occured Sending of email failed Interestingly, the message which was sent is actually in my sent box (thanks for that), but the UI is now stuck still in the compose window, and if I try to click send again, I get "Invalid compose ID" in the error log (which is expected). But in the entire process, until that error is displayed in the UI, there is no error in the error.log Suggestions/ideas/test-requests are welcome, as I am completely lost as to why RC is behaving this way, and there does not seem to be much information in google for this particular issue. Thanks and regards SK

Roundcube Webmail 1.3.0 released
by Thomas Bruederli 06 Jul '17

06 Jul '17

Dear subscribers We proudly announce the stable version 1.3.0 of Roundcube Webmail which is now available for download. With this milestone we introduce new features since the 1.2 version: - Widescreen layout aka Three Column View - Possibility to display QR code for contacts data - New identicon plugin [1] - Attach contact vCards to composed message - Support WEBP images and MathML preview - Preview, download and rename attachments when composing a message - Message/rfc822 attachment preview - Various Enigma (PGP) and Managesieve plugin improvements - “Flattened” the Larry theme giving it a fresher look Plus security and deployment improvements: - Improve randomness of password salts and random hashes - Fixed redundancy in sql caching system and compatibility with Galera Cluster And finally some code-cleanup: - Dropped support for legacy browsers (IE < 10; removed legacy_browser plugin) - Require PHP >= 5.4 - Removed PHP mail() support - Removed 3rd party javascript libraries from the repository - Require jQuery 3.x which has breaking changes to older versions IMPORTANT: The code-cleanup part brings major changes and possibly incompatibilities to your existing Roundcube installations. So please read the Changelog [2] carefully and thoroughly test your upgrade scenario. Please note that Roundcube 1.3 1. no longer runs on PHP 5.3 2. no longer supports IE < 10 and old versions of Firefox, Chrome and Safari 3. requires an SMTP server connection to send mails 4. uses jQuery 3.2 and will not work with current jQuery mobile plugin With the release of Roundcube 1.3.0, the previous stable release branches 1.2.x and 1.1.x will switch in to LTS low maintenance mode which means they will only receive important security updates but no longer any regular improvement updates. See the complete Changelog in our wiki [2] and download the new packages from https://roundcube.net/download. Roundcube 1.3.0 is considered stable and we recommend to update all productive installations of Roundcube. As usual, don’t forget to backup and test with your custom plugins. Best, Alec & Thomas [1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Identicon [2] https://github.com/roundcube/roundcubemail/wiki/Changelog

INBOX sorting OK, destination folder NOT - mail list order by DATE - bug? and config fix for annoyance?
by Philip Rhoades 14 Jun '17

14 Jun '17

People, Generally I have the most recent mails sorted to the top of the display - today I noticed that some mails that came in today and yesterday were down the bottom of the list instead of at the top - AFTER I had moved them from the INBOX to their appropriate category folder. There seems to be no controls on folders that would affect this so I am not sure what is going on. The only clue I have is that the displayed dates for these problem mails are of the form: "Today|Tue HH:MM" instead of the usual International Format of: "YYYY-mm-dd HH:MM" so I am assuming it is something weird because of that - I imagine in a week's time they will be displaying in the correct order at the top of the list. This problem brings me to another another whinge (I think I have asked about this before) - I would like ALL my dates to be in the International Format instead of having identifiers "Today|Mon-Sun HH:MM" - is it possible I can configure this somehow? Thanks, Phil. -- Philip Rhoades PO Box 896 Cowra NSW 2794 Australia E-mail: phil(a)pricom.com.au
