hello everyone! I want to thank you all for your comments on my idea. (Except sofar, you are good in flaming I see...). Its right, I did't know anything about Zimbra. Zimbra is a great webmailer, except it is not looking as cool as roundcoube :-) Performance could be better... we'll see. Code should never be written twice... regrads, Tobias

New CVS snapshot available

Hi everybody I just published a new CVS snapshot for download. It contains the current version which is on the way to become a beta version. I think the most important things like message caching and UTF-8 support do work now. Of course there are some open tasks and some known problems with specific messages showing no attachments and things like that, but I guess it's time to make a break and look forward to release a new "stable" version. A request to all translators will be sent soon with a list of recently added texts in order to have all localizations up-to-date. Actually, I wanted to add the search feature for the beta version but I didn't have enough time to do so. If somebody of the current developers would like to take care of that, I would really appreciate it. Here are some of my plans: * Adding a simple search field to the message list for "quick search" in subject and sender. * The search results (a list of message ids) should be stored in the cache for this session. * A search-id would be passed to the client and sent with each request (i.e. sorting, paging) to access the cached search results instead of querying the server again and again. * If the user clears the search input field, all messages are shown again * A search method is already available in the rcube_imap class Any thoughts? Jon, Changed smtp_server to localhost and it worked, thanks! :) I did all of that digging for nothing, heh. What was the issue? Problem Sending Attachments

Hi, First off I'd like to say thanks to everyone involved with RC for their hard work. You guys have produced one of my ideal webmail clients. I love it! :) Ok, so on to my problem. I'm running FreeBSD 6.0 with Courier-IMAPd & Postfix, and "User-Agent: RoundCube Webmail/0.1b" For some odd reason, I'm having trouble sending e-mails with attachments. I did some investigating and found that the resulting e-mail's primary header didn't contain Content-Type. It should be something along the lines of Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="..." So I browsed through the source, found where the actual mail is sent, and added some code to add that header specifically (which uses a regex to extract the boundary string as I noticed the encoding is reliant on PEAR:Mail_mime). No dice :(. I played around with Content-Transfer-Encoding, and Content-Type to no avail. I have no idea what's causing this. I sent an almost identical email (with the same attachment) through SquirrelMail, removed the extraneous headers (time, etc.) and did a diff. Practically no difference! The base64 encoding looked fine. The only differences were in the body text charset and transfer encoding. So as it is, I'm out of ideas. If you guys want to see the actual e-mails, I can send those if you like. Heck, give me your email address and I'll send you an e-mail with an attachment and you can see for yourself what's wrong. Hello I'am a french developer. I realy like RounCube but it doesn't support POP ! I don't understant why you don't use the imap function of php (as imap_open() ...) I work to change it, it's hard because i start with php (since 1 year) ! I whant to do whith round cube as outlookExpress : A mail reader of all email acount in the same time with the folder list ! do you work do do somting else ? if you whant i can send you my work but i think it will not ne interesting for you because it isn't your goal ans it's dirty. please excuse my engligh !! Serious Bug in Roundcube headers (bcc)

I've been using Roundcube as my main web mail applicaition now for a few months. A couple of days ago I sent an email out to a list of recipients (about 20 friends), all in the BCC field, in order to prevent people from replying to everyone on the list. One reply I received was from someone asking why they could see everyone's email address in the BCC field. I've just upgraded to the latest CVS version (about 10 minutes ago), and tested again. It seems that RoundCube is including the BCC header as a regular header in the email and thus it's being sent to everyone. Fortunately I was just using the BCC header to control replies and it didn't really matter that others could see each others info. But this has the potential to cause some serious problems. Imagine emailing your girlfriend explaining how she's not being rational, and bccing a buddy cause it's so funny, and then she see's you'd bcced him! Not going to be a fun time! lol. My Config: Using PHP 4.3.10, on Apache 1.3. qmail is the smtp server, and RoundCube is configured to use smtp, not mail(). -- Dave

Feature request: interface for manually adding users

Hi! On my webhost (www.dreamhost.com), all email address that are created are assigned a randomly generated username (m########). As such, RoundCube doesn't work out-of-the-box for logins. You have to manually add users to the users table in the MySQL database giving it the correct username and alias. Being as I don't think there's any way to get it to auto-discover the real username and I'll have to add these users manually every time, would it be possible to get some sort of Admin interface that makes doing this easy inside of RoundCube? I could write one myself, but I'm not familiar with the codebase and am definitely couldn't integrate it that well into the design-scheme of the app. Any thoughts on that? Thanks! -Joel

I am on DreamHost and am having a heckuva time logging into RoundCube. I've tried every login/password combination I can think of but nothing will let me log in. I can use their SquirrelMail webmail just fine however. Has anyone had this problem on DreamHost?

Java port if roundcube

hello everyone! I am interested in a Java port of RoundCube. Since I am a Java programmer, I am looking for people how are interested in a Java port and, of course, other Java programmers who want to help. If someone knows a java-based webmail with usable code, let me know please. That might be labour saving :-) The goal is to create a mail system that can easily be integrated in Java homepages (CMS), using the advantages of java. regards, Tobias
